in the big news category: i went to IKEA in chicago on saturday!
and i am home from the storyline conference and a special weekend with friends! have a super monday!
Correction: the Kansas City IKEA is in Merriam, Kansas. It’s just off I-35; exit at Johnson Drive. It is open daily and is much more aesthetically appealing than the one in the Twin Cities. Very fun 🙂 We used that IKEA chandelier in my daughter’s nursery. I took clllllll the little plastic crystals off and spray painted it red. I love it! Love reading your blog! Would love to hear ideas you have for your kids for Christmas this year….you always have great gift ideas! I am planning a not-so-secret trip to IKEA to jam a whole couch in my van. 😉 Well, now you can plan a trip to the IKEA in Lenexa, KANSAS – it opened mid-September. I haven’t been able to go yet and I only live 80 miles away. Happy birthday, sweet Annie!
Meg, I LOVE the videos you post. They always make me laugh or just plain happy. Thank you!! IKEA is about 20 minutes from me, I rarely go because the maze to get through there just stresses me out. Sad I know. I do love their meatballs though! Hah! Our closest Ikea is over 100 miles away, so I’ve never made the trip. My daughter and I are going together within the month!! Happy birthday to your Annie! Jealous of your Ikea trip and girls weekend! Happy Birthday to Annie!! I agree – when you are not near an IKEA, it is a big deal to go. It is like a day trip for us! I haven’t been there in awhile, and I ready to go! 🙂 I am all about some randomness! Love Ikea but it’s been a while- I don’t think I could make quick pass though- you go girl! I dig the chandelier and black and white! You’re too cute 🙂 Happy Birthday Miss Annie! I’m sure Mom will pull out a great day for you 😉 Yes, Jimmy Fallon always seems so happy! He makes me so happy 🙂 I think he would be such a hoot to live with…I bet he’s a great dad! Hey Meg! I just wanted to make sure you knew they had an Ikea in Kansas City!! I think it’s fairly new and I had no idea it existed until I went to KC a few weeks ago! Just a heads up since it’s a little closer than Chicago 😉 i am in chicago at the Storyline Conference!!! i have been thinking all day about my life… my story… what’s next… what do i want… but what blew me away today was hearing Propaganda speak… poetry i guess you’d say? bob goff is tomorrow and i CANNOT WAIT!
side note: scott did awesome… he had two touchdowns… they won 59-2. the girls and craig came out tot he barn too. silly girl.
i mean seriously. this is what we came home with…. GREEN chippy gorgeousness.
Can’t wait to see your project with the green boards – I have a similar vision for my foyer. I have a bunch of different colored chippy paint boards … I want to put hooks on them and use them for guests to hang their coats/bags when they come. It is one of those many projects that I have been dreaming about … so maybe you will help me get moving and get it finished! goodness I’d like to get lost wandering that barn again….someday. <3 trying not to be jealous that you get to hear Bob Goff speak tomorrow… I loved his book Love Does.. so challenging, so motivating. . .a game changer for me really. . . I have not read anything by Donald Miller so I will check out that book I want to run/own a barn. . . May God reveal to you bits and pieces of what you are to do with your story. . what is next. . I will pray for that after I hit post comment. . really. He is good and has one awesome plan for you. I’ve heard Bob Goff speak several times. He is great. You’ll laugh histerically and be challenged. Best line: “…and a machete he plans to use for gardening.” This made my day. Your dad seems like my kind of guy. 😉 great post. love the story about your kiddo…too cute! How fun!!! Can’t wait to see your finished project. I’m seeing this Bob Goff name everywhere the past 2 days… Guess I should go find out what he’s all about..>! You have such vision and flair for decorating…can’t wait to see the end result. Michelle from Canada Instagram..michellerich31
Your parents are adorable!!! The green bead boards are to die for!! Can’t wait to see the after project. Do you ever worry about lead paint? Annie favors you so much but i bet you hear that all the time.
this has nothing to do with pumpkins… but when i look at this picture i think “you need to make this house more “YOU” Meg… cause this porch is NOT” but then i get tired and think “CUTE PUMPKINS!” do you have halloween costumes all done? annie is the only one i feel like i need to worry about anymore. 🙂 Thank you for inspiring me to add more color in my life! 🙂 WHERE did you get those napkins?!? I love them. I kind of want to marry them. I love the fabric for the curtains, so pretty! I don’t miss buying or dealing with costumes now that mine don’t trick or treat anymore, I am a bad mom. 😉 lol The pumpkins look awesome, but I think the pick of the photos is the zinnias and fabric. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing them. I love your colorful pumpkins. When you painted pumpkins a couple years ago I loved it so much that my boys and I did it too. They had fun. We have costumes done. My youngest is going to be a slice of pepperoni pizza (from Target), my oldest is going to be a cheeseburger (from Amazon) and the dog is going to be a hot dog for the third year in a row. This is the first time the boys are doing a theme and it’s going to be awesome.
those are some of the happiest pumpkins I’ve ever seen! I’ll have to remember for next year 🙂 I love color just as much as the next person, but I have to say the white pumpkin that someone doodled all over is my favorite! Ahhhhhh, so much fun!! I love that in the second-to-last photo there is a knife sticking out of the pumpkin’s eye! Haha!
Thank you girls for making Kimberlee’s and my job so much easier and fun! Thanks you to all our new friends that came to Craft Weekend!
Such a lovely group of ladies in their aprons! Your craft weekends look like the most fun ever and such cute projects. My Grandma passed away this past week. She was born in Kansas. It makes me happy to see joy coming from there… Still cute. still awesome. still have NO idea how to pick out fabric and put it together! Oh, I would have loved to snag that Kansas Farm Bureau sign – I worked for KFB at the headquarters in Manhattan years ago. Can you share where you bought the bird fabric? I LOVE it! LOVE the hoop map! Yes, I’m Australian but love all things American 🙂 Love all the crafts and those quilts oh my!! I so Love the ruffle aprons!!! Meg you look so skinny in these pictures!!!! You go girl! love, love, LOVE that map hoop!! So fun and colorful! On my to-make list for sure. After 2 long years on the wait list, I finally made it to this craft weekend. It was everything you can imagine and MORE. GREAT crafts, food and fun. And…I could seriously live in Kansas! Is there a link to the map that you used for your template? I would love to make these with my girls!
these aren’t all from one day but all very everyday pics.
use the code CANVAS20 for 20% off your canvas order. the sale is through Sunday October 26 at midnight. 🙂 Meg, OH MY GOSH!! I am so totally loving what you are doing. Your blog is beautiful and I really want to come to one of your crafty weekends. I especially love the United States patchwork thingy. Sooo beautiful. And I didn’t realize your Whatever was from Whatever is lovely, whatever is good…It was so great to meet you at Storyline!! Love and hugs, Tina happyfungirl.com Great pictures! Can you please tell me where you got your “Love More” t-shirt you’re wearing in the picture where you’re working on computer? Thanks! Oh! Waffle’s eyelashes, I can’t shake off that song either! and your drive home *sigh* beautiful! Thanks for sharing pics of ordinary days, I think they look a lot like everybody else’s too. It’s reassuring! : ) ok, so the next post down WAS an entire post of chicken pictures! ha! loved it! you could do an entire post of chicken pictures and i would laugh at every single one. love those ladies! The basket of toilet paper … and the empty roll(s) which never make it in the garbage. Story. Of. My. Life. Loved this post. Fave pics are of Annie because she reminds me of my girl so very much 🙂 🙂 🙂
You are so skinny now!!!! Way to go! I loved all the pictures. Will you leave the bunting up during the winter? I wish there were Menards in the South my girlfriends are always getting cute things there. You inspire me like crazy 🙂 I like your ordinary! These are the blog posts i love, and the ones that got me hooked on your blog about 5 years ago! Xo Totally in love with the rainbow sweatshirts! Have been hoping for years that you will make some in adult sizes!!!! Can I special order?!?
Thank you for this post. I was just telling my husband that I’m a bit weary of my vocation as stay at home mom and all that entails. Just seeing everyday life in someone else’s house and the full grocery cart and the overflowing dishes and laundry and the joy and regular stuff is good. So good to remember this vocation is rewarding and hard all at once. Thanks. Also, I think we might have the same paint on our walls. 🙂 I love your random posts! 1. Who took the last paper towel? That would make me crazy. 2. Where did you get your cute purse? I’ve been on the hunt for two years… My eight visit to the USA is coming up in 7 weeks. Not that I’m counting….much!! In my tripping through much of your beautiful country (my American friends joke that I’ve seen way more of the USA than they have!) I haven’t experienced Sonic. Or a Sonic Happy Hour. Note to self from December/January trip, find a Sonic! These are all fun, but my favorite is the one chicken eye. I really like the roll of fabric from Joann’s – gray background with white and yellow flowers. I hope you show us how you plan to use it. I am just wondering how much you generally spend on the quilts you buy? I wish wish wish I could find a good source for old quilts here in Maine. I always search at antique shops but never have any luck. I have seen some for $100 but I certainly do not want to spend that much on one. any advice? thanks-
Ordinary is very good. Love my new singer heavy duty seeing machine $120 amazon, just shortened 12 king size pillowcases to standard size..the only size pillow I like. Thanks for recommendation.
i am hoping that this weekend is chicken maintenance weekend.
Hi there! I am always on the search for the perfect t shirts. I was wondering where I could find your love more t-shirt? Thanks! The light was beautiful and your sweet girls such good subjects (even the black and white beauty)! I just love your chickens…sigh… Bunting and party lights….I laughed out LOUD at that. you are too cute. Yes, wondering the same thing. Can you keep chickens all winter? Pics are great 😀 Meg….your pictures are so beautiful…..I am wondering how you care for your chickens in the cold, cold winter….how do you keep them warm?
Oh Meg! How I live vicariously through you in the chicken department. One day I will have some girls of my own, but for now I will love yours through your blog. Thanks for sharing. :o) In response to the bunting comment above.. you can buy a cheap, colorful vinyl tablecloth and cut diamonds out of it, fold them over waxed twine and use hot glue to glue the triangles together… waterproof bunting that lasts years! 🙂 I love your comment about the black and white lady, she really did give you the sink-eye! And, yes, to party lights and bunting! We winterized our bunny’s hutch last weekend. I wonder if there’s a way to add some tiny bunting to his house?? I love these pics! And I love it when you blog:) Okay…that one chicken really is giving you the stinkeye! For some reason that makes me think of all the hens in the coop on the Foghorn leghorn cartoons which is awesomeness! 🙂 Bunting and lights for sure! Lucky ladies! I think everyone needs bunting and party lights. Such beautiful photos. You have a lovely life. Beautiful! And how crazy grown are your kids that you can steal their clothes and fit into them! It feels impossible to me as my two so far are just 21 months and 4 months but it will happen someday. My sons will be big grown men! |
