perfect day for a nature walk.
the leaves were changing quickly.
each tree was so different.
the red one was my favorite.
the kids ran way ahead…like usual.
they miss so many details
but that’s what kids do…run.
talby said “this log looks like a crocodile”
she was right.
there weren’t many birds out
grandpa shared the binoculars but there was not much to see.
we collected leaves for talby’s school project.
now that jenny is home safely from her cruise…
(lucky girl)
i can share her birthday gift.
you know there is no privacy with me jen…sorry.
this was my first mini album (6×6) i have made.
it will be very hard to switch back to 12 x12. i love this size!
hopefully it’s not too foo-foo for you jen.
it is alot of ribbons…but i was having such a good time.
i couldn’t help myself.
a few of the pages….
the back page.
i had pictures printed specifically for this album.
i ordered a few in 6×6 size…like this one.
and some 2×2.
at scrapbook pictures you can get digital overlays printed onto your pictures
or borders…spot coloring…very cool place.
and great great quality.
without a computer it was finished pretty quickly.
no distractions…besides my family and home and sleep.
i didn’t want to send it i loved it so much.
but i can make more…and i will.
it is fun to look at but 100 times more fun to be there with you jen.
miss you so much.
traci-that is one awesome album!!! mini albums are so fun to do. thanks for the info on scrapbookpictures.com. i created an account – love all the different sizes you can order.
Danelle -LOVE LOVE LOVE this album. I have done a few mini albums for gifts before. I think they are more fun because they are done so quickly. For Christmas one year I did a couple of minis for aunts except I decorated them so they could add their own photos later after the holidays. I may do that again someday. Thanks for sharing!!
how do i look?
should i buy these?
i like that they are a little understated…not too much glitter…
just enough.
ha ha ha
and i found some eye “candy”
my parents took 4 of the kids and me shopping
to get ideas for christmas gifts.
we ended up at the toy store.
not toys r’ us…it’s a real toy store.
the kind where they let you play and touch.
the kind that has toys not made by the huge companies.
toys that are so creative.
this entire wall is all finger puppets!
i think i tried on 20 of them.
all toys are cute when they are mini-s.
sean wanted grandpa to know all about the legos.
and he wants them all.
at least he’s easy to please.
this was the prettiest dog i have ever seen.
and of course…it’s a great dane.
i can’t ever fall in love with a tiny dog.
that gray color was one i had never seen.
he was gorgeous.
still borrowing kristin’s computer.
i have been checking all my favorite spots too. melissa…you are still my BFF.
and kim too.
and i am listening to christmas music.
not sure why…but it’s got me in a good mood.
while visiting my parents we went to the KU homecoming parade.
it was also annie’s birthday.
she kept saying “a parade for MY birthday!”
the floats were fun…the jayhawks were working the crowd.
and look my whole family in one picture!
scott is totally into KU.
he has the players memorized…numbers..stats.
it’s his new love
and craig is thrilled.
sean’s letting us know how he feels about the float going by.
she was taking it all in…
i asked her if she liked it and she just nodded her head.
and how can you not love a parade
on your birthday
with suckers and smarties?
the campus was so beautiful.
the trees were full of color…college kids everywhere
great day.
Shannon Davis -Hey Megan, It seems like this would be the only way to get in touch with you Ha!! Craig gave my ideas for Annie for xmas and I told him that I was making you something I learned at scrapbook garden — maybe we can trade homeade gifts again like a few years ago –let me know if you want to. Shannon
traci-annie is so lucky to have a parade on her birthday. what a fun memory for her! i love parades, especially homecoming ones. do you have your computer back yet?
Emily-Great pictures! Sorry to hear of your computer woes. 🙁
traci-cute little ones you have. lots of birthday fun at your house.
traci -SO glad your dads ipod doesnt say “hot mama” ..lol
Love talby’s birthday glasses…HOW CUTE.
Somehow from your blog never would have guesses annie had a bashful bone in her body.
I would never forget you….I check your blog OFTEN…lol
kristin is so nice.
SO NICE!!!
i need to learn to be nicer like she is.
she has been letting me take her laptop home while annie is at preschool.
who does that?
she is SO NICE.
and look at her blog at that nut project.
it was too cool.
okay…with no pictures…i feel uniinteresting.
i miss iPhoto.
i mess with all my pictures
“enhancing” them.
so i feel bummed each time i look at my empty comptuer desk.
i have been begging to buy a laptop on credit
but my husband is such a good boy.
“we don’t do that honey”
ugh.
i have had lots of people ask me about my camera in the past
so i will tell you about that.
exciting right?
sorry.
i got this camera for christmas 2006.
my first time using digital anything.
it is a Canon Rebel XT.
it is the most basic of the SLR cameras.
we bought the body only through b&hphoto.com
i have read lots of other blogs about photography
and this was a place that had many recommendations.
we bought the body only
and purchased the lens separately so we could pick the one we wanted.
my lens is an EF 28 – 105.
i have no idea what all this means.
seriously.
craig did most of the research…he likes research.
i have no patience.
so he gave me choices…and i picked this lens.
i may pick another sometime…but this has been great.
really great.
so….does that answer your questions?
it’s the same camera that you can buy at target or walmart i think
but instead has a lens that is metal and not plastic…
and from what i am told….it’s all about the lens.
i love this camera.
but it is big…and bulky
and has tons of settings…and things to learn.
if you are interested in photography and want to get better and better
if it’s something you think about alot…
then maybe you should get a camera like this.
but if you want to carry it with you all the time (it won’t fit in your purse)
unless you are jana.
if you don’t like everyone noticing your big giant camera.
if don’t like a click sound for every photo…
this isn’t for you.
i have had a big SLR camera for many many years.
i prefer the big camera…big screen…big buttons.
i need it.
okay..that was long.
are you wondering what i read right away when i finally got my hands on a computer? ree tara ali karen
and my email of course.
a few good things about not having a computer…
i made an entire mini album (my first)
from our vacation
and i have talked to my husband face to face
instead of shouting from the computer desk to the couch the entire evening.
just kidding…it’s not that bad…usually.
well…i have to go return the computer.
sniff..sniff…
i will try not to cry
or make her wrestle me to get it out of my hands.
Erica -FYI: I love reading your blog, check it often. 🙂
kristin-simply doing what i would want done to me….glad to share the computer love.
: )
amy-Sorry, Jana. Meg’s camera would fit in your purse. Just one of the many reasons we love you! 🙂
traci-just thought i would check incase you posted and you did. what a nice friend you have!!! i have a rebel too, but i am not quite as good with the “enhancing” part. i definately need help in that area. enjoy getting all your projects done, since you can’t be on the computer. miss ya!
Jana -What’s with the purse comment? It’s not that big!!! Okay….. maybe it is? 🙂
traci -thank you for sharing about your camera!! Im one that just had to know…love your pictures and am in need of a GOOD camera. Maybe santa will love me this yr…lol
melissa @ the inspired room-Oh, I would definitely go through withdrawals if my computer were ill! What would I do? Probably everything you are doing. And life might actually be pretty good that way!
Wait! I am not on your top four list of blogs. I must be number five. Of course I am.
xo, your BFF,
Melissa
traci -OH BLAST…I hate that!!! You are by far my favorite blogger so HURRY BACK.
I also would like to know what kind of camera you have??
traci-i’ll miss you!! i love checking in with you. your 7 random facts were great – made me laugh. have a great day!!! hopefully we’ll see you back soon!
kristin-you could use my computer while annie is at preschool…it’s an apple lap top…it might just work for you!
seriously, you can. oh wait, i guess you might not be able to read this…i’ll tell you soon.
crystal -Going to miss you while you are down. I will admit I’m a lurker and I read your blog daily. Absolutely love it. You have a beautiful family. One question though – what kind of camera do you use?
traci - what beautiful pictures. i love fall – my favorite season.
