call your friend with a pond and invite yourself over.
that’s what we did.
she hooked us up!
lifejackets and toys and she got the boys out on the kayaks.
they were so good at it.
they focused all their muscles to keep balanced.
it was a great way to wear them out.
she is a fish.
and can easily keep up with her brothers any day.
i thought she’d want to play in the sand…
no.
it was too hot and everyone else was swimming so we were swimming too.
from one dock to the other…over and over.
i made sure my swimteam skills were still there (3rd place every time)
and beat all 3 big kids to the dock.
a proud moment.
lauren didn’t come because…she’s 13.
she thought about it (which surprised me)
but the having house to herself all afternoon was too good to pass up.
there was even a snack for last minute guests!
you really can’t ask for more.
juice boxes and animal crackers after hard play in the sun…so good.
and to make the day more perfect….
they had a new puppy.
brand new.
Max the puppy.
a birthday gift and a hunting dog of some sort.
we loved him.
our friend offered me tomatoes.
then my kids showed just how “city” they are.
one of them said “OHHH…can i hold one? i’ve never held a tomato before!”
(i thought “yes you have…remember…at wal-mart?”)
and one said “wow look at this HUGE cucumber!!”
it was a zucchini.
“where did you get these?”
she answered “in my garden.”
they each looked very confused.
seriously.
so she took them to the garden and they each picked a grape tomato.
AND ATE IT.
and thankfully none of them liked them.
i would have felt like such a bad mom if they all loved them
and i had deprived them all this time.
so we brought home a bunch of fresh tomatoes
i said “should we try to make spaghetti sauce?”
the kids said “you can MAKE sauce? i thought it just came in a jar!”
oh my.
(yes that is a barbie in the photo…don’t you have ballet barbies in your car?)
and then there was this on the drive home….
kansas rocks.
i was full of gratitude.
i kept thinking “i’m so happy we live here”
i drove half way home on a gravel road and i couldn’t stop smiling.
we got home so late craig was home from work and he was cooking dinner.
oh yeah…it was a good day.
thanks again carolyn!
a friend gave me some tomatoe plants this year.
i nervously said “thank you….what do i do with them?”
he said “throw ’em in with your flowers.”
i did and we are giddy about having actual tomatoes that we grew.
i don’t think i trust myself to actually eat something i planted…
but they grew!
it’s so cool.
i have been enjoying the flowers at sunrise this week.
it is so quiet.
the light is so bright.
is this happiness or what?
I am absolutely in love with zinnias.
Oh, your flowers are so pretty….Love the zinnias…they remind me of my grandmother’s former garden….she always had zinnias…..thanks wow, your flowers are beautiful. are they zinnias? good job on the tomatoes. they are pretty easy to grow. this is a good year for them too. Isn’t it amazing what pleasure you can get from a flower garden. Your pictures are lovely Meg, Flower Power! 🙂 Gorgeous for sure! That red/orange/yellow combo. is the color pallete for my house! And for heaven’s sake: EAT THE TOMATOES!!! It’s hard to mess those up! Make big batches of salsa or something ;)! I love zinnias. You have a green thumb, girl!! I’m a homegrown tomato freak!! Love them!! ~Jill 🙂 LOVELY!
bright… bold… happiness!
YOU have been getting up at sunrise? Can that be right? hee hee That is TRUE happiness right there! Are they zinnias? LOVE ‘EM! That IS happiness! Thanks for sharing =) Great pics! Very pretty….! Jen R Love the photos. The zinnias are beautiful. When I was a little girl my mom always let me plant a row of them in her vegetable garden. Haven’t had them “around the house” in years; will plan for them next year. Eat those ‘maters! You’ll be glad you did. Yesterday I was thinking how great your flowers look compared to mine – more lush and bright. I bet you do a better job at watering than I do. What beautiful flowers! I love all the bright colors!! Eat the stinkin things already! They will be sooo much better than the store’s. I planted 4 plants and have about 10 that I need to put up somehow, getting more daily. yesterday i figured out that there were 25 days till school starts.
then i figured out there were 25 (reasonable) things still left on this list!
weird.
we had better get working.
we are down to 24 now.
melissa (my virtual bff) featured me on her blog.
seriously so sweet of her.
i am honored.
i love all the features she’s had recently about new home vs. old homes.
thanks you SO MUCH for all the kind comments loving on my bathroom.
i am trying (slowly…you know i have that list to get to) to go to each link.
thanks for making my week!
and i forgot to mention…
the bathroom is definitely NO KIDS ALLOWED.
i told them they could use the bathtub on their birthday.
after 13 years of bathroom sharing
i think this is a reasonable line to draw.
we are even considering putting a lock on the door with a pin code.
i’m not kidding.
although during my first bath annie found me and she sweetly asked
“is der wooom foe me in der?”
i couldn’t say no.
my laundry room has no heat or air.
and it’s teeny tiny. (not complaining just stating the facts)
when i get busy (or lazy) i end up with so much dirty laundry
i can barely move without falling down.
i literally stand on the mountain of dirty clothes.
then it’s so hot…i sweat like crazy folding it in the laundry room.
so we brought it all out last night and made everyone fold till it was finished.
they hated it so much that we decided it is the new monday night chore!
monday night will now be laundry folding night.
a family affair.
teamwork.
done in 10 minutes instead of mom sweating away all alone.
great idea craig!
okay…
i have to quit blogging so i can get school enrollment forms done.
they are due tomorrow.
and then i have to pick something off the list to get checked off.
24 days to go.
When you get to the Kansas City check, stop in and say “hey!” (Or not, I know how it can be.)
Poor Meg! I’m trying to picture you standing on a mound of dirty clothes, sweating! Glad you have 5 kids with able arms to help you out :)! Love that you finally put a picture of your camera up in your sidebar. Were you getting tired of all the asking ;)!?
Just yesterday on the Wichita Craigslist under “FREE” there was a quarter horse. Today it’s gone. Did you get it? 🙂 Oh, nice solution to the dreaded laundry sorting problem. We have laundry meeting us at the door! (Not really, but almost). Great, just what I needed on my to-do list, another blog to read. LOL! I’m new to your blog and am loving your gorgeous home and lovely photos! Thanks for sharing them with us! how exciting to be featured on her blog. i have never seen a picture of the outside of your house. beautiful!!! love the porch – that has always been my dream – to have a big front porch. that’s a lot of laundry girlfriend. kind of reminded me of “jon and kate plus 8”. when are you checking off “teach lauren to drive”? have a good day!
Love the Monday Night Chore as a family! What fun it will be in the Fall watchin’ some FOOTBALL!!! How long have I been reading your blog…a couple of months maybe??? JUST NOW, I thought…how cute…Meg and CRAIG…they rhyme! Ahhhh! I’m a little slow, hope I can be allowed to continue reading 🙂 Yikes I only have 21 more days of summer left! And that is counting the weekends, too. I wish we could figure out a way to fit in “go to Macy’s” soon. 🙂
I love the laundry idea. And! I made a rule this summer that unless it’s an emergency and/or someone is hurt I am not to be interrupted in the bathroom — it’s amazing that as soon as I shut that door, they are banging on it to ask me something. They wouldn’t do that to their dad. hmmm. Love the laundry idea. Your laundry room sounds like mine – I can’t move in there either and it never ends! Love your bathroom, I found your link on Melissa’s blog. Beautiful – I would never come out of there! Love the laundry idea. Your laundry room sounds like mine – I can’t move in there either and it never ends! Love your bathroom, I found your link on Melissa’s blog. Beautiful – I would never come out of there!
Glad to hear someone else is gearing up for school to start. We went to Academy last night and got new tennis shoes and backpacks for the kids. So happy to have that done!
What a sweet hubby to even suggest it! I have got to try that , I hate laundry , th efolding and the putting away , that always gets forgotten , do you have a way to get kids to put the clothes away ??? let me refresh your memory.
and now, welcome to my dream world.
the after photos….
come on in. i love it so much.
thank you.
so sneaky.
i have to tell you about this little table.
i walked through one of our local anitque shops one day.
one of the last booths i had left to see and there it was.
it’s legs were painted white and it had two little doors that were broken.
but just for the mirrored sides…my heart got to pumping.
i bought it for $12 in disbelief.
then i brought it home and took off the doors.
i went to touch up the paint and realized all the legs and details were
covered in mirror and then had been painted.
i couldn’t believe it!
i got out a razor blade and scratched off all that paint.
it is my favorite piece i have ever salvaged.
the old door was in the craft room but it may stay as free art.
and the mirror was one we had in our bathroom remake in our IL house.
and how about that buffet?!
thank you again mom for scoping out the stores to find it.
this was the little window that originally went into our closet.
i have yet to decide what to do with this little space.
maybe for jewelry…
or a picture…
i don’t know, but it will come to me one day.
and in our old closet is now another bathroom.
i’ll show you that another day.
it’s pink.
and in our bedroom we built an new closet.
same size but now completely organized.
(maybe i will actually put things away now…my husband hopes)
craig wants to make sure everyone knows i mean PEACE like relaxing.
not the hippie kind of peace…HA.
i am so in love with this room.
bernie – the contractor – was awesome.
this room is better than we ever hoped.
now i think i will go take another bath!
Love the pictures. They looked great. You don’t have to read the words in order to know the blogger’s motif. She likes antique. She is fond of using the old things she has and reuse it. Love it! I too was highlighted for my bathroom on Remodelaholic. Looks like I’m in excellent company. This is GORGEOUS…I am SO ready to go re-do my master bath now {and my husband thinks I’m crazy}. You did an amazing job! {found you at Remodelaholic} Wow.. awesome things shared here. I like all. There are all thing related to different places like bed room, bathroom, kitchen, hall etc. In this places the things are beautiful. OH MY GOD,..it’s really nice idea to change everything in this room…I like every imaging so much on it~~~!!!”GOOD” job ^-^ I love that unique find, the mirrored table. You’ve done a great job with remodeling. Good luck in your re-newed place. This has to be one of the most beautiful bathroom’s I have ever seen! Awesome job! That’s amazing! I love the floor and the mirror. Well, and the sunken tub too, but I figured that went without saying. WOW! What a beautiful room! I’m not one for soaking in the tub, but I sure could in a wonderfully peaceful room like this. It’s beyond description! OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! This is GORGEOUS! I stumbled upon your delightful post from my friend Liz at “Mabel’s House” and wow what a treat this was. You have one of the most beautiful bathrooms I have EVER seen!!!!!!! Congrats! beautiful! i saw a buffet like that recently and i was trying to come up with a way to use it. it looks like it was meant to be there. Another “friend of Mabel’s” here. Wow! Your new bathroom is stunningly beautiful. You must be so pleased with the way everything came together. Bravo! Got sent over here from Mabel’s. That bathroom is beautiful. I love it!
WoW, It is all gorgeous. I love the mirrored salvaged piece. What a find! I also like the little wooden bench-so cute. Wonderful room and wonderful photoss
Wow! Thanks to Marbel for sharing this link. It is gorgeous. Wow! When I say I hate you, you understand that it is a compliment, right? You did a fantastic job. I’d love it if you shared the wall color. Jen Amazing bathroom – just gorgeous. Enjoy it! That bathroom looks like it’s straight out of a magazine!! You’re vision is amazing, I love it!
I’ve been lurking for a while. I love the pictures of your home. You have a great eye for color, form and things that are well made. I completely love your craft room too. You seem like a totally fun mom. Your old door reminds me of what we did in our old family farmhouse that we renovated and lived in for 20 years. When we had to tear down the frame portion of the house because it was falling down, we saved the doors and used them in the new construction that replaced that part. It worked great at blurring the lines between old and new!
Absolutely the coolest bathroom I’ve ever seen. I love all of the white… Enjoy that bathtub!! You deserve it!! ~Jill
You’re bathroom turned out gorgeous Meg! Congratulations on your own space. You’re so good at getting your pictures to capture the feeling. Love, Love, Love the tile work and horizontal beaded walls. Quite lovely!
What a wonderful getaway room!! You have such an amazing artistic eye and it shines through in your gorgeous new bathroom. I’m just a little jealous. Enjoy! Not bad. Not bad at all! Enjoy! Amazing! I love the combination of grunge and glamour. Gorgeous!!
LOVE that bathroom! Oh my gosh! It looks like a day spa! Just came by from the Inspired Room, too, and had to say how much I love this room!! It is *amazing* — everything down to the peace banner (though mine would be a double entendre…relax and hippie. 🙂 That is just gorgeous! I love it. I kinda like the hippie kinda peace too (as well as the relaxing kind) 🙂 wow..what an amazing space! do you have a sign on the door that says “no kiddos allowed”….i am loving your style!!! -jess
I am getting over my intense bathroom jealously little by little. I think it will take a very long time. So to make peace with it, I tagged you on my blog today. Enjoy! WOW! I’m amazed, jealous, inspired… Beautiful! “Peace” made me laugh – my husband would want to clear the air on that too – goofy men! 🙂 beautiful. congrats. amazing marriage of old and new! enjoy! You are a very clever girl and I love what you did. I had to share a little bit of it with my friends (hope ya don’t mind). I linked you and Melissa in the blog and I added you to my blog roll. It is great to find insainly creative women like you out there. Keep it up. Heidi Meghan-The bathroom is fabulous! I love the buffet. Seeing your pictures makes me want to re-do my bathroom. Forgive me, O Lord, while I covet this beautiful bathroom…
magnificent meg!!! that’s you 🙂 such a creative diva you are…wow! i love what you have done here. the white on white, vintage, chic, classy..and then that birdcage!!! you have such a creative eye:) This bathroom is the absolute bomb-diggity!! I LOVE IT!!! By the way, I grew up in IL. Where did you used to live? Love it. Absolutely love it. Absolutely stunning. This is quite possibly my favorite renovation ever…so much character and luxury at the same time. Oh and the space you have in that bathroom is also pretty amazing! I have just spent the last 20 minutes looking all through your blog! I love it! You are such a wonderful mom, really gifted. You, also, are a great photographer. When my blog grows up I hope it to be just like yours!:)
Oh girl! That is right out of a magazine! Beautiful! My favorites are the chandelier and sparkly accents…as well as how cool it looks all white like that!!! LOVE it…jealous!
LOve what you did! Great bath! Jen R This is just lovely! I am here via The Inspired room & I will be back for sure! Love the craft room too!
How beautiful. I knew it would be. Wow! LOVE IT! It’s amazing. Enjoy it!
What a transformation! What was this room before…an extra bedroom? I love all the after pictures. You seem to have such a wonderful design sense-something I’m trying to acquire. I’m struggling with making our apartment look a little less apartment-like if you know what I mean. Just beautiful! I love how you kept it the same style as your home. I love the old character with modern conveniences. Great job!
WOW! There are a million little details that I love about your bathroom! It looks like something you would see featured in a magazine! My favorite, favorite thing is the beautiful mirror above the sink! You did an outstanding job!
What a wonderful retreat! Thanks for sharing it with us this once 😉 I am so in love with all of your house!
Oh Meg! Absolute HEAVEN!!!! Turned out so beautiful…how will you ever want to come out of there??!! Love the painted buffet! ENJOY!!!
the pictures don’t even do it justice… it’s spacious and truly gorgeous. And so you.
Absolutely beautful. Looks like it belongs in a magazine. Enjoy !!!!! It is beautiful! I have enjoyed seeing the progress on your bathroom. Enjoy!!! Can I move in? You are not only a great photographer, but a wonderful designer as well.
OH. WOW. ohwowohwowohwowohwowOHWOW! You Lucky, Meg! You LUCKY!!
I love the shabby, chic look of your bathroom. You would so love the Tattered House. I added the link so you could check it out. Everyday I drive by this blue house and dream of buying everything in the store! PS – love the steal on your $12 dresser – beautiful!
It is Awesome! But I have to admit, though it is lovely, I’d hate for anyone to be able to see me that clearly in the shower. LOL. Would you be offended if I admitted that I totally coveted your bathroom, and am really jealous? If I had that gorgeous space I would never ever come out and the kiddos would have to fend for themselves. Love it! Oh, it’s so lovely! It turned out fantastically! It looks like such a place of relaxation now. Enjoy it! Wow! I am speechless and jealous! That is gorgeous! 🙂
she’s been at my parents’ house all week.
probably getting to do pretty much everything she loves to do.
we are missing her badly..especially annie.
we’ll pick her up tomorrow.
it’s been different around here.
i haven’t had as many hugs as i am used to…
would you mind if i asked you a couple of photography questions via email? my email is
We did have a wonderful time. Thanks for letting her stay for the week. And she and Macy did get to do pretty much anything they wanted!! But they were both very appreciative of each day. Very sweet little girls! I love your piggie pics! What a fun day. i bet you do miss her. it’s always different when one of the kids is away. kind of offsets your universe. hope you’re getting your share of hugs today. It is amazing how much you miss the little stinkers! Just not quite right when one is missing…I’m sure she’s having a time though! Just wanted to say once again how much I enjoy your blog! I will agree things do seem “not right” when one child is gone for more than one night. All three of mine will be staying with my parents for the whole week and live four hours away. I cry like a baby for about 15 minutes when they pull away and I’m in a slump for almost an hour. But I know deep down they are well taken care of and my parents are creating wonderful memories for my girls. One makes such a difference! Glad you get her back soon :)! I am sure she misses her mommy just as much as you miss her! I used to spend six weeks with my grandma in Nebraska every summer and those are the best memories. But it was always great to see mom again! Those pool noodles are calling my name! And I would miss daughter hugs too! Allikaye is just starting to be a hugger! Oh! I wondered where she’s been in your pictures! I get sad when either girl leaves for any amount of time. My dad took 4 of my kids on Wed to the beach. I totally understand. My house is quiet. Hate to admit I am soaking it up as much as possible, but I keep thinking about what they might be doing. the winner of the games……. check your email for a note from me.
thanks for playing everyone.
if you can give 79 comment for this…
surely you can leave 20 comments on other posts?? come on you lurking ladies! leave me a note and tell me you were here. or tell me what you did today.
or tell me you think my house is too messy.
just say something! 🙂
i love it. i appreciate every comment. thank you. bathroom remodel pictures coming soon!
Hi Meg. I’m here a day late but, I thought I’d post anyway. I always love checking out what’s going on with your family. Have a great weekend!
I am a LURKER! Love the house!..trust me it’s not messy….I have 4 kids and can clean a room… leave and take a shower and come back and it be worse than before! It’s all the kids fault! ;0) Just blame them!…. I love the picture of all the laundry! It’s amazing with kids how much laundry they can mess up and why! Like my Aunt used to say “why am I washing bathing suits in December?” (we live in Chicagoland!) Have a great weekend!
I forgot this note – all you ladies that have little girls from 3 months to 6 years check out this website for clothes. They are very cute/cool (expensive) and gave me some ideas for London (i am thinking Amy Butler fabrics). The lady who has this site is a friend of a friend and asked to pass it on.
Yummy…yummy…in my tummy 🙂 Last night at 11:00 Russ ate two pieces and I had one piece of the very yummy blueberry buckle and I have brought one to work. Thank you so much for the blueberry buckle. You know how to brighten up the day. Your house is NEVER too messy and your kids are great. Have a great Friday night with the family. So Corey and all these blog lurkers are going to get to see your bathroom before me? I’ll be honest… that kinda hurts, Meg. And even after I traded hair color appointments with you. Sad. Glad to see you got your 20 posts before I got here! 🙂 I think your house is lovely, since you mention it, and I am looking forward to seeing your bathroom remodel photos!!
HAHA… kind of makes us “lurking ladies” seem greedy! But we do love you and your family/blog! My husband and I are having a BBQ tomorrow to raise money for a missionary friend… so today was a big trip to Costco. Where I also bought a sleigh bed! I have been looking for one on craigslist for months (waiting for someone to get rid of there pottery barn bed) but this one was half the price and so pretty! Just got back from the farmers market (have to call my mom and tell her I forgot she was going and went without her…whoops!) and am waiting patiently for my husband to finish work so he can put together my bed! Sorry… didnt intend to write a book! Have a great night.
I’m here! I’m here! One-handed, but still here! I guess I missed out on the big giveaway during…”The Fall”! Bummer 🙁 I LOVE YOUR HOUSE!!! (And your blog!)
I’ve been checking in daily too but don’t want you to think I’m a stalker. 😉 So I don’t always comment. But I’m always here… Wait, that sounded freaky. I’m not scary. Honest. hi meg – just got back from vacation. can’t wait to scroll further down your blog to see what you have been up to.
SORRY I AM LURKER!!! Hahahaha!! I love hearing about your world. It makes my day brighter. I love your house, and the way you decorate it! I’m a local lurker. Love your blog and your honesty about life with kids. I cleaned out piles of clutter today which feels good but there’s always more . . . ::waves:: I’m reading! okay, I will play your game. My question yesterday was :Did you actually put your nice wonderful camera on the ground with PIGS??? Other option, were YOU laying/lying on the ground with PIGS??? My husband would have you shot. Our camera is treated like a priceless heirloom and we get lots of lectures when we put it down not in the case. When the kids get near it MC Hammer starts singing Can’t Touch This. No wonder your pictures are so much better, I have to stand erect at full attention. I have to worry about the stinkin camera and can’t concentrate on their cute feet like you. oh I LOVE me a good remodel! Looking forward to the pictures. Oops, I meant I wouldn’t consider myself a lurker, not stalker. Although you may consider me a stalker if I start leaving comments all the time! Well I wouldn’t consider myself a stalker. I read every single post but only leave comments when I feel like I have something worthwhile to contribute. Which is very seldom! 😉 Today I have a housefull of kids. Two friends share a nanny and she has the day off today as her mother is having surgery. So I stepped in to help out. They’re all great kids so it’s not a problem at all and it makes me happy to help my friends!
craig’s uncle and aunt told us this was the last round of baby pigs.
after 30 years they are going to be pig-free.
sad for us but so liberating for them.
i can’t wait to hear about your first big long vacation.
you really really deserve it!
since these are the last ones…we had to get out there!
so we called them up and invited ourselves over…last minute.
we gave them a 20 minute warning.
wasn’t that polite of us?
if you hold them like this they don’t squeal. (don’t be offended…you eat bacon) i set my camera down low and they kept creeping in on me. it was cool but kind of creepy too.
“please craig…can we keep just one?”
earlier in the day we’d laughed about the thought of having a pig as a pet.
they get to be like 800 pounds…the size of a couch?
who wouldn’t want one?
the babies are cute though.
if you had one all cleaned up and could teach it tricks?!
i need to join 4H and get all this stuff out of my system.
annie was watching the mama…keeping track of her.
good plan.
she’s gianormous.
i will miss this janet!
what we will do without the baby pigs to visit?
maybe you can start raising puppies?
ray is the biggest golden retriever in the world.
he has to be.
but such a sweet dog…if he doesn’t knock you over by accident.
sean wanted to ride him.
ray could do it but we said no.
lots of corn this year – everywhere in kansas!
it is so pretty to see fields of it everywhere you go.
the kids got to pick some and check if it was ready.
not quite yet.
janet took annie out to the garden and let her pick cucumbers.
she couldn’t wait to eat them.
(the ONLY vegetable she eats??)
i love this blurry picture (so many of these were blurry?)
fruit punch on her lip, dirty hair stuck to her face, cucumbers in her lap…
completely zonked out.
we love the farm.
we’ll miss the pigs.
thanks gary and janet.
next time we will have a cookout so we can check that off our summer list.
but i promise we’ll plan it more than 20 minutes in advance…
maybe even an hour?
I just stumbled upon your blog and love your obvious appreciation for small town farm life. I too came from such roots. Thanks for providing a great read. Little piglets are so cute, I just can’t look at their feet.
It looks like you all had a GREAT time! Those pigs are adorable…it’s pictures like those that make me feel bad about loving bacon so much. Great pictures, especially of the Pig Mob.
How fun to have a family farm to visit! I don’t blame you for wanting one of those little piggies. They are too darn cute. Well, pretty much any baby animal is hard to resist 🙂 they are so cute. wonderful photos – the kids look so happy. we used to have pigs when we got married.
I lurk at your site all the time because I just love your pictures and the way you capture your life. I especially love the pig pictures. I must admit I almost spit when I read “don’t be offended…you eat bacon.” Totally spot on and funny, too! A great example of what I love about your posts. Okay – enough gushing for now! Thanks so much for sharing with the rest of us! i smiled the entire way through these with my brow a little furrowed too cause they do look too cute to eat…. the ‘getting down low’ shots are fabulous! i love how you captured one little face amongst many each time. perfection! Hi from Kansas City! I’ve been lurking on your blog every since I saw it on Creative Blogs and love all your pics/stories. I thought you might live in Kansas since the boys love KU. Sorry, I’m a KSU fan but still love to see what you and your cute family are up to! 🙂 You inspire me – I have two little boys that I’m always trying to entertain.
what a beautiful piece of america! i love the pigs. my daughter just started dog 4-H so we will be at the fair a lot – not sure i could do pig 4-H! beautiful pictures as always.
so very cute, if u go again take me!! oink, oink 🙂 too fun! my hubby & i were both 4-Hers…he raised show pigs & i raised show lambs…a lot of work, but some great lessons & memories! i bet your kids had a ball…love the cornfields!! I want a pig!!!!!!!!!!! I love the piggies! Too fun! You know your kiddos will never forget that? Annie is A-Dorable :o) We live super close to Kansas; just on the other side of the mighty MO. What part of KS are y’all in? I love the midwest, wouldn’t live anywhere else. This is only my second time to your blog and I love it! Thanks for entertaining me…ha! Too cute! I got my hard cast today so I can type!! I must say I’m enjoyin’ catchin’ up on my favorite blogs! Although, your bubble and water picture gave me nightmares of falling 🙂 I’ve gone a little freaky about wet surfaces since…”The Fall”!
Those are great pictures! I love the little piggies. But, Annie with her hair glued to her face is priceless. |

Shannan Martin - I just found your blog today through “The Inspired Room”. I am a work-from-home mom and my 2 little ones are with Papaw and Gram today, so I have lots and lots of time to get some work done…but, I just spent over an hour reading your blog and I’m only to January. Thank you for sharing all of this with “us”. Your bathroom is amazing and your family makes me want to hurry up and add to our brood, like we keep discussing. If I lived in Kansas I would probably try to hunt you down. But, I live in Indiana, so you are safe. 🙂
Amy Walker - What a great day for you and the kids! Your kids are all so cute and also very lucky to have you as their Mom:) Your pictures are awesome as usual, I’m so jealous of your skills!
robin bird - 2 great days in a row!! you are lucky, and a person who is grateful for what you have.
but i tell you cannot believe you saw and was able to photograph (so well) that field of sunflowers!! i didn’t think that happened in real life… sort of with your kids and those vegetable. i thought that sunflowers were posed for photos.. you know plastic soldiers all lined up and poked in the ground so the famous photographers can get great shots. but look at you! wow, impressive!dang maybe you were in OZ yesterday ‘ya think?
Jenn - Can I come to Carolyn’s house next time you go? Maybe she would let me stay in the “bunk house” for a few days to get away. Love the sunflower pictures.
christine - what a perfect day!
Keri - What a great day! Don’t you love it when a plan comes together!! =)
amy j - I’m changing my name on here to amy j so that people I/we know don’t think that I’m the amy that almost peed her pants looking at your sunflowers. 🙂
mom - What a fun day at Carolyn’s! I knew those boys would love the kayaks. The sunflower pictures are lushish! I used one for our Sunday worship service powerpoint. Thanks.
Kelley - that’s it. i’m movin’ to kansas.
Shana - Look at those kids…so happy with a puppy. They should get one and name it “Waffle”! Wouldn’t that be cute?
Hmmm….now where could you find one?
Peggy Rice - Pure happiness. I like the one tall sunflower in the middle of the field. Barbie in the car made me smile…before the metro and bus were my mode of transportation my car was full of them!
Aby - GREAT pictures! Those tomatoes look sooooo good! There’s nothing quite like home-grown tomatoes… sliced up with a little salt and pepper.. YUM!!! I love your blog! You seem like such a great mom!!
Nikki - Hey! I have been following your blog for a few weeks now and this is the first time I saw Kansas mentioned! I was just telling my husband the other day that we NEEDED to find another sunflower field to take pictures in. Soooo…..since I too live in Kansas can you share the location of that BEAUTIFUL field?? I am sure it is probably NOWHERE near my home, but just in case!!! LOL!!

Nancy - Love the sunflower photos. The fields of them along I-70 on the way to Denver are my favorite ‘sites’ when we travel to CO in the summer. And, I must say that Kansas (the state, not the hawks) does rock.
Ashley Kleiber - I’m sure Max LOVED the attention! He is sure a lovable puppy. I love the pictures of the sunflowers. I drive by that field almost everyday and think about stopping to take some pictures.
Bethany - Oh how I miss Kansas! People think I am crazy, but when you live there your ENTIRE life, it is home. And it definitely has a lot to love! Thanks for sharing part of your world!!
Lindy - yeah well Colorado rocks too!!!!
Geeze Meg, can I come stay with you for a week or so once I get my new camera so that you can teach me all your techniques? I LOVE your photography! Once I save my pennies for that new camera I’ll have to save for some classes as well to be up to snuff.
What a fun day and dinner on the table to top it off. Lucky you!
Lauren - Hi Megan. I just popped over to your blog from The Inspired Room and had to tell you that your photos just make me want to smile. I especially loved the sunflowers!
I will be adding your blog to my feed reader!
Julie - That’s a really big “pond”! What a fun day, yummy tomatoes, cute puppy, gorgeous sunflowers and happy kiddos. Paradise.
Leslie - I hope some of the fastastic things you did yesterday were on your list. Go cross them off! What a great day. Tomorrow I am taking the kids to tour the Blue Bell Ice Cream creamery. No photos allowed inside of course, bummer. But free ice cream at the end, yippee!
Stacey - Kansas does rock, only Nebraska rocks better. 😉 My sis lives in KS. Love the sunflower photos, gorgeous! Gosh, I wish I had a friend with a pond. Cool!
Julie K. - What a fabulous looking day. And those sunflowers! Oh my goodness – you would never ever see that here in chicago. I’m jealous. Though … I love the city … guess I’m just going to have to visit you someday! :o)
traci - Im so glad your glad you live in Kansas. I have family that live there and was just there about a month ago. Most look unimpressed when I say we are making a trip to Ks. but with your photos I think Ks. is very impressive!!! I remember just a month ago passing a VAST field with GORGEOUS sunflowers and taking a picture just like yours. Mine didnt turn out as good since mine isnt as great a camera BUT the point is Kansas is awesome!! I do wish you had made Lauren go….she would have smiled and loved it.
