these are the supplies you will need for craft #2. we found the styrofoam balls at walmart and the ribbon, pins and flowers at Michaels. (but the ribbon AND pins are also at walmart)
the jar of flowers are in the scrapbook embellishment section of the craft stores.
it turned out that talby's ornament used all 100 pins. so if you wanted more than one ornament…you'll need more pins.
it really could not be more simple. stick the pin through the tiny hole in the center of the flower all the way into the styrofoam ball. and repeat. until it's covered.
our jar of flowers had some covered in glitter too. bonus! to make the hanger we just looped some ribbon and stuck a flower on the ribbon and pinned it down.
if a little white shows through that is ok….because it doesn not have to be perfect. perfect is overrated.
it took about twenty mintues from start to finish and absolutely no mess at all.
Jennifer Cooper -We made this for a Keepers at Home(like a Christian Girl Scout troop Christmas craft. The cost was about $5/ornament. The pins were $3 @ Walmart and the paper flowers were $6/bottle at Michaels. I think each bottle covered about 3 balls. These were easily finished in about 20 minutes by girls ages 5-11. Thanks for a cute and fun idea. Many planned to keep them hanging up through the spring.
jennibell-Love this craft idea! Each of the kids are making something for each family “basket” who we exchange gifts with and my 8-yr-old doesn’t have anything. . .yet. . .think I’ll show him this tmrw! Maybe his sisters will help too…. 🙂 Love your patience with the crafting with kids Meg!
Heather G.-YAY for more wells!! And yay for that cute ornament 🙂
Tiffany -Your girls are so pretty, They are really good crafters, these turned keep cute, keep em coming!
Christina -Nice craft! I love making christmas ornaments too! It can be so creative! I read your blog a lot lately (only discovered it 3 months ago!!). Some of you ideas are really great! Greetings from Europe 🙂
andrea-Oh Yeah! I saw some of these balls at hobby lobby & almost got some ’cause I thought we would find something to do with them. But I didn’t want to do anything too intense. These are perfect.
Tracy Fisher -Those ornaments are so HAPPY! Love them. And I needed that verse today after a moment of tears. I know God knows what He is doing with me… but once in awhile I’d love a heads up!
Tracy
Sarah Wolfe-This one looks fun. May have to try it this year. Since I have all boys, I may look for some embellishments that are more masculine. But I guess if I don’t find any, they could give them to the girls in their life 🙂
Christy-Oh I love that project! Thanks for the great idea 🙂
Kerry - Kid Giddy-Although it’s a little work to get the ribbon all the way through the center, it held on so much better to have a knot at the bottom. We made so many while my girls were in Montessori school, as it’s a great fine motor skill!
Kimber-Leigh-oh, my kiddos would love this project. makes me wish i hadn’t gotten rid of my 1983743987 prima flowers a while back. 🙂
Alicia @ La Famille-so cute!! my boys are not excited about craft day today…what’s their problem??!! 🙂
Terrie-Love these!
To be honest with you…I get all nervous and clammy when I click on your Christmas crafts…
Cause I LOVE them all and want to do them…but have NO time to do them this year!
I’ve been a crafting fool in the craft room…
But, I’ll just ‘pin’ the idea and add it to my list for next year!
I did several of your crafts last year…made getting out decorations fun this year!
New colorful stuff!!
HaPpy Christmas Crafting!!
jackie-Love the Christmas balls! Great project for all ages!
amber-that is so cute! i’ve been needing a craft to do w/ my 9 yr. old daughter and her 5 yr. old cousin! I think this will be perfect and they can be of use!! love, love, love!
Michelle From Australia -Beautiful! Now that I’ve accomplished the bauble wreath from last year I might move on to this one. Thanks for the inspiration Meg.
Leah-I did that craft with my homework club kids last Christmas and it was great. Except our push pins kept falling out. Have you had that problem at all?
Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails-These are adorable! I cant wait to try them….either with my own girls or with my students on the last day of school. WOuld be a cute gift for their mommas for Christmas:)
Alycia-what a great idea! i want to make one right now but i don’t have the little flowers. i have everything else tho 🙂
Trish-cute craft! we made ornaments tonight too… only ours was a complete mess. glitter. it was fun though. i don’t mind the glitter, it’s the hubs that can’t stand it 🙂
i too am getting a giveaway around! can’t wait 🙂
Southern Gal-Those are gorgeous! I love the white pins and the colored ones. I have most of this. A few more pins and I’m in business.
today's craft is a christmas wreath made out of paper.
we started with a paper plate and cut out the center. then painted it green with acrylic craft paint.
while it dried we cut holly leaf shapes out of green paper. we used heavier scrapbook paper (since i don't scrapbook anymore…)
i drew a leaf and we traced it on the paper a bunch of times.
i helped them along by stacking four leaf sized pieces of paper and cutting them all at the same time. repeating that process a few times made it go a little quicker. we used between 30 and 40 leaves on our plate.
we folded them down the center for some depth.
we used a hot glue gun to attach the holly leaves. you could use school glue but it would take longer and may not hold as well.
we glued some with the fold pointed up and some with fold angling down. nestling the leaves into each other, overlapping each other until the entire green circle is covered.
using a circle punch we made red circles for holly berries. you could, of course, just cut out some small circles with scissors…but punches are so fun!
we hot glued those in clumps of two or three on the leaves. talby added glitter to those.
to make the bow we took a strip of red paper…. about 10" x 2" and folded it into the loop shapes. we hot glued that in the center so it would stay. then took a smaller 2" x 4" strip of red paper and wraped it over the front of the loops for the center of the bow. we cut two strips for the ribbon that hangs down and glued it to the back of the bow. ANd hot glued the bow to the holly leaves.
i used a small piece of yarn and hot glued it in a loop to the back for hanging.
isn't it cute?!!
we were inspired by this one from the Paper Source. we had all the supplies so instead of spending $19.50 on it…we made it for free!
we sent it in the mail to my great aunt who is 101 years old for some christmas cheer. and a pair of Santa Claus socks.
🙂
…………………..
did you have a good weekend?
i am happy to report the remainder of my weekend was CLEAN and decent. i watched 5 basketball games of my kids. i got to play with babies in the church nursery. i took annie to pick our some christmas gifts for her to give her siblings. i finished our indoor decorations. craig made sunday lunch….Pancakes. i made saturday night dinner….Lynette's Noodles with Ham.…one of my kids' FAVORITE meals. i searched our entire town for peppermint ice cream with no luck….bummer. we watched home alone as a family last night…with a cozy fire in the fireplace….and had milkshakes after.
so even with the crazy friday that i had….it all turned out ok. i knew you guys would like that story. who wouldn't?! it makes you appreciate ANY day that goes by without cleaning poo off of anything.
Courtney-Hey! I haven’t been around blogland too much lately, but I just saw your Mpix add in Prof. Photographer, so I thought I’d come say hi 🙂 It’s great! Congrats on everything!
Sidenote *my husband makes icecream for a living… I can get whatever I want, whenever I want 🙂 lol!
Kimber-Leigh-Braums has peppermint ice cream year-round. 🙂 It’s my favorite brand of peppermint too!
Allison-Did you try ALDI for the ice cream, they have it here in Carthage. A great place to find fun holiday goodies that many forget about!
Amber L Peters -that wreath is so cute!
Peppermint stick ice cream is our FAVORITE in our household! We always look forward to it this time of year!
Dairy Queen has candy cane blizzards if you are in a pinch- and they are YUMMY. Also, Pioneer Woman recently posted a recipe for peppermint ice cream. I just bought the ingredients to try it! I think her recipe calls for vanilla extract, but i think i might try it with peppermint extract. Although, usually her recipes are amazing….
Ashley -I just want you to know how much I enjoy your blog, your craft time with your kids, and your creativity! So much so I dreamed last night that you and I were hanging out in my kitchen like old time friends oodling over new craft ideas and fabrics we were going to use to create things 🙂 I hope to one day meet you in person and maybe be lucky enough to attend a Craft Weekend getaway! Hugs from VA
Tressa -We always make peppermint milkshakes after we decorate the tree.
We simply add crushed candy canes to our vanilla ice cream. I used to be stuck whacking at the canes with a hammer, but now the kids like to take a turn at it. Just put the unwrapped canes in a large ziploc freezer bag and cover with a kitchen towel and start whacking away. You could put them in the processor ,but that would be the easy way!! either way make sure you mix the milk and ice cream first and then add the peppermint last, elsewise you gum up the mixer with the candy and it will not mix well. Merry CHRISTmas!
Mary -Do you have a Braum’s nearby? I love their peppermint ice cream.
julie-No peppermint ice cream around these parts either. WHAT IS THE DEAL?
But no poop. As in a kid is having a whole different kind of poop issue. Which is it’s own kind of not fun.
Glamourous. Oh such a glamourous life we lead.
annonymous -You really don’t scrapbook anymore? Will you scrapbook again somday soon? No time or are you all digital? Just curious! 🙂
Michelle From Australia -Why is peppermint icecream SO hard to find? I’m having the same problem here in Brisbane (city of over one million people), Australia. My son LOVES his ‘green’ icecream but I have only found ONE supermarket with it. Which is where I will be going this afternoon.
p.s. The bauble wreath that I made following your Mama Craft Day from last year is proudly hanging in our stairwell. I’ve received TONS of compliments on it. And a few requests for me to make some for people. Who would have thought, no craft me, making craft for others. Meg, you can work wonders!!
Jenna@CallHerHappy-I’m glad the rest of your weekend wasn’t as poopy! I can’t wait until my gal is old enough to craft with me!
Jenna
callherhappy.com
Astrid -Oh! I am in love with that wreath! That looks like a craft project we can manage while we are living in China. We are leaving at the beginning of January! Ack! Needless to say it doesn’t feel very christmassy around here. 🙁
amy-love how the wreaths turned out and it’s funny because we just made the cardinal ornaments also from the paper source site…ummm…not paying for the kit when i have construction paper and scissors, is what i thought when i saw them, too : )
Cheryl E. -You make me laugh!
Southern Gal-I was going to ask you what you do with all the crafts your kids create? Do you keep them for a while and then toss them after taking pictures? Give them all away? How do you manage all that? I would love to know!
amanda-This is so cute! I’ll have to do this with my crew this week. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Alaina Bennett -Meg~ I’ve seen peppermint ice cream at Walmart. It wasn’t with all the ice cream but an end cap of special ice creams (did that even make sense?). Anyway, i live in a different state than you so maybe yours has it too. Good luck
Alicia @ La Famille-love your craft!! and so glad you had a better weekend…no poo involved 🙂 did you get your washer fixed?? this is an essential thing, girl!!
tiffany gardner-so sweet! glad there was no poo involved for your weekend.
Sarah-I remember making these in school! You think of such great thing Meg!
Jennifer-Yummy…peppermint ice cream. 🙂 Love the craft idea–thanks for sharing.
Sarah-What a great weekend (after a bit of a rough start…)! That wreath is gorgeous!
happygirl-I went to AC this weekend and won $30. It was AWESOME. LOVE the wreath. I miss the crafting by kids at my house. 🙂
Lori Austin -So glad your weekend turned around.
No cleaning poo – yeah!
Super cute craft – yeah!
Family movie night with milkshakes – yeah!
My weekend highlights were watching The Holiday alone and drinking my first cup of eggnog for the season. Yeah for me!
Cutting tons of snowflakes from coffee filters and attaching them all over the sliding glass door with my daughter.
Finding the Bob’s peppermint sticks at Wal-mart!
Leah-Sounds like a lovely weekend! We’ve already watched Home Alone a few times. It’s required December watching. And totally know what you mean about the peppermint ice cream. I actually like it year-round and yet it’s off the shelves in December. I actually found peppermint bark ice cream. It’s heavenly and best part is I don’t have to share it since my husband’s not a peppermint fan 🙂
Jackie -Did you try Walgreens for the peppermint icecream? We got some from Walgreens right before Thanksgiving. Yum-o!
Tina Jacobsen -Love the craft…totally doing this one with my girl!! And we have all the supplies in the craft cupboard!! Excited to see what’s next…we are total crafters here!! I’ve never had peppermint ice cream…putting that on my list this week..hope I can find it 🙂
Tina
Laura Phelps-crafting is much better than cleaning poo 🙂
seriously sassy mama-I love the wreath. My girls wold so love making one of those. I think it will be one of the crafts we make while we are on Christmas break. Cannot wait to see what you have next!
elisabeth (bovagoods)-oh, i just hate it when i can’t find peppermint ice cream! it’s one of my favorites and i think it’s a darn shame that it’s “seasonal”. i hope you find some soon!
Kristen -Do you have a Fresh and Easy grocery store close by? Best Peppermint icecream EVER.
Holly-cute wreath! I found peppermint sugar cookie dough this weekend! We cant wait to try it!
Nancy-That craft looks perfect. SImple, independent, colorful, perfect. Next week, we are adding that our list. thankyouverymuch!
I totally appreciate your story. How about this one: my dog ate a popsicle out of my kid’s hand. He pooped it out. It looked like a corndog. Sorry. Had to share.
i took some baby pictures this morning which was wonderful because 1. i was FORCED to clean my kitchen really well and 2. i got to snuggle a newborn baby that was absolutely perfect.
lovely.
i am almost done with the christmas decorating…i got out some glitter and glue today. i was so smiley. i WILL finish up tomorrow.
i am planning it all out tomorrow….cute stuff coming.
this afternoon i went to walmart. gotta love the walmart. 🙂 but today i had to go because i was out of paper towels and bleach. i needed them because there was an…..incident….in the kids' bathroom during the night last night. sleep walking? i don't know.
it looked like a crime scene. except with….. poo.
i am not kidding.
and i needed paper towels because i STILL do not have a working washing machine.
i had to throw AWAY the shower curtains, a towel and a sock. they were not salvagable.
and also…..the dog found this bathroom mess before i did.
G R O S S.
i now had the paper towels and bleach. BUT i had to give the dog a bath first…. one of my least favorite jobs. then after that i began on the bathroom. i decided it was THE TOP of my least favorite jobs.
craig came home in the middle of that task and i said "i don't think i can make dinner….it's too much."
he agreed. he took the kids to another ball game. he asked me to go as i was standing in the bathtub fully clothed wearing purple latex gloves and holding a toilet brush and sponge. my clothes were all wet from waffle's bath…because it's a full body experience. i smiled and said "i'm too far gone at this point honey"
they left.
about 10 minutes later i hear a crash of glass. i thought "is someone breaking in?"
i came down stairs and there was glass all over the kitchen floor. THE DOG tried to get a turkey sandwich left on the counter and he knocked over the lid to my big glass jar. i know this because the sandwich was halfway still there near the glass.
i yelled at him. because i felt like it.
i cleaned it all up….this is the kitchen i already cleaned once today.
some days are great. and some days you have to clean up poo off the walls.
jess-bless your heart! man, this mom-job is glamorous!
crystalbeutler-I am laughing my head off. Poo days are thee absolute worst. My gag reflex gets so worn out. But on the bright side, It’s a great diet aid. I don’t feel like eating much after all that, do you?
Lisa -I agree with the previous Lisa . . . give us all your washing machine repair man and we’re gonna start a telephone campaign that will drive him absolutely crazy until he gets your machine running again!!! Love your blog every day!
Sarah-My stupid dog rolls in poop every single weekend and I have to give him a bath and I hate it as much as you do…even though he only weighs 6 pounds. You make me laugh.
Tami-Oh my gosh! I totally feel so sorry for you because I have days like that all the time. I have 5 kids too so they can’t be avoided but most of the time the good days outnumber the bad. Your blog is the highlight of my day because I can so easily relate. Thanks for making my day everyday.
Tiffany -you always find the right words. hope today is better, i’m sure it will be. cheers to a new day. pinterest thats, hahahaha
deborah@applesinwonderland-Sorry for your troubles. Our jobs as mommas are so glamourous. My fav line, “put that on pinterest”. LOL!!!! For realz.
Darcie-Wow! That rivals mine, and beats me I think, because yours involved poo and mine did not. (http://darcielantz.wordpress.com/2011/12/01/a-day-in-the-life/)
Ah, the life of moms. I love that you told Craig, “I can’t make dinner. It’s too much.” That’s what I feel like saying a lot of the time. Maybe I should just be direct like that. “It’s too much!”
Ann-Oh Meg…I had one of those poo crime scenes when my dog had bloody diarrhea in my kitchen. It was horrific. REALLY BAD. I thought she was going to die. But she lived. And I had to clean it up. And my husband was sooo thankful for me!!!
Melanie-This post is hilarious…but yet it’s not. Sorry! I’m glad that you’re one of those bloggers who post the real life stuff, too. 😉
Hope you get a good night’s sleep and that your house stays miraculously clean!
Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails-UGH. All I can say is that I hope the rest of the weekend has been relaxing and 100% poo free for you!
Niki -Saw you in the Mpix ad in Popular Photography! I don’t know how long this has been going on or how much you’ve mentioned about it but it was a surprise to me! Felt like “hey I know her!” =)
becky-i had a day like that this week too. only my poo was from a 1 year old. in a bathtub. yay, poo! happy christmas craft week! can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Kate @ Songs Kate Sang-OH Meg, sweet, sweet dreams! I may have giggled at your post. Don’t me mad. Mkay?
Katherine @ Grass Stains-Soooo sorry about the poop! I know we’ve all had those days, and I suppose it’s sort of therapeutic to blog about it. It’s either laugh or cry most of the time … and hopefully most of the time we choose to laugh. 🙂 GREAT story that will be much funnier to you later.
Sharla-Craig was at a KSU game?! Oh, there is hope. JK!
beth-oh NO!! What a day! I truly hope tomorrow is MUCH better!
Mindy Harris-oh my! you poor thing. i saw craig from afar at the k-state game. 🙂 he is a celeb too. ha.
Candy -I think I need that on a plaque, “some days are great and some days you have clean poo off the walls”. We moms all have good poo stories and they all crack me up, even my own!! I was just reading your post to my husband and he was dying! Thanks for being so transparent and sharing your life with us, you always make me smile!
beth e. -Sounds like this could be the first page of a novel titled “Are you there god? It’s me Meg”
For anyone who was a Judy Bloom fan back in the day….
I am wishing you ALL THE LOVE in the world for your tremendously shocking day.
And no washer still…..HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??!! THAT’S CA-RAZY!
Toni :0) -Wow-that’s a crappy (sorry no pun intended there honestly) day and I’m sorry it was such a drag! I’m glad you shared real life with us-we all have those and those types of days make us appreciate the fabulous ones. Merry Christmas to you and your family-I heart your blog soooo much, I know I’ve told you that but I can’t help myself in telling you that-stay awesome! :0)
Brooke-Okaaay, you win.
I vow not to complain about my day because as you have just so clearly exemplified……it could have been worse.
If you’re still mad at Waffle, send him to me. I’m in love with him. 🙂
karen gerstenberger-You have my heartfelt compassion for a “crappy” day. I hope you slept like a rock and got to sleep in. May tomorrow be much sweeter, cleaner and nicer for you!
Elma -Oh what a day!!! Sometime it just sucks to be a mom and all the gross things we have to do:) Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!! ( go buy a new wash machine)
Courtney-LOL, I love you and your crazy family, and your crazy normal life! I agree with the commenter above – this is why I read your blog! It’s so real, and sureal all at the same time!
Officially, I’d also like to add if you made one of your beautiful prints for your etsy shop this year to read “some days are great.
and some days you have to clean up poo off the walls.” I would totally buy it – several copies actually for myself and gifts for family and friends, because it’s so hillariously true! I also know you would take it one step further into awesome but putting the text over and awesome cheery background like rainbows of crayons or candy, or your pretty pretty flower pictures hehe!
Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode-Meg as weird as it sounds, this is why I read your blog, because we all have days full of poo…heehee.
Lisa -OH. MY. WORD.
That is seriously crazy – I love you for sharing!
You are an amazing blogger!
Love Love Love WHATEVER!!!!!
poo
really?!
poo!
Good Grief, Charlie Brown!
you need to give us (all) the number of your appliance repair man!!!
haha!
we could get that rollin’ for ya!
haha
wouldn’t that be something?!
oh man!
ha
tara-bad day at your house BUT you got fifty comments on your blog for talking about it.
and that makes you a rockstar.
sleep tight and sleep hard!
thank God, it’ll be a new day tomorrow…and hopefully without poop.
Lisa-Well that takes the cake! But thanks for making the rest of us feel human.
Amanda Fuentes-Can I just say how happy I am there were NO PHOTOS in this post… LOL
Elisabeth F -Reminds me of the quote:
Some days you’re the pigeon,
Some days you’re the statue.
Sorry you had a statue day!!!
Andrea @ Big Creek Cottage -Meg……thanks for keeping it real…..poo….glass….messes….a mother’s work is never done……Happy HOlidays!
Kate-Were you like Nancy Poo trying to solve the hiney-ous crime? (Nancy Drew trying to solve the heinous crime…get it, get it?) baaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha! I just cracked myself up. Thank you for sharing…aint Motherhood grand?
alaina -For the love of pete!!!!!!!!!! I seriously almost started bawling over this post. I “feel” your pain! Oh Meg, you’re a rock star….just sayin!
Cindy -You CRACK me UP!!!
Elle -May I suggest a field trip to the laundromat??? I’ve only been in college but they aren’t that bad. Have the kids sort their dirty clothes first. If each kid goes and does their own loads, you’ll have clean clothes in no time.
Then you can go have burgers and fries somewhere special.
Aby -you’re a much better woman than me Meg. I think I would have to move. Or at least I’d want to!! I’m sure today will be better!
Jenn A. -oh man. I have to admit, all I could think was, thank God your shower’s still working! Because after all that, I think I would have to stand in the shower until all of the hot water was gone. My days of up close and personal poo experiences are just beginning as I am due with our first babe in the beginning of March. I hope today is better!
Lisa -Oh my, I am so sorry for that craziness. Yuck! But I do what to say thank you for sharing this type of stuff. I think sometimes I feel like we are the only family that has so much crazy going on… these kind of posts make me relax more and realize all of us mom’s (parents) are in this together! Hoping today is better for you!
Kerstie-Some days are like shoveling you know what against the tide. AND, that REALLY happened for you!!!
So so so sorry!
Jessica R. -Thank you, thank you for keeping it real. And thank you for keeping your sense of humor (at least after the fact!) The icing on the cake was “put that on pinterest.” Awesome 🙂
Tracy -Oh my word…the things we have to do as mothers! Bless your heart!
Kacey-Ack! How awful! Really funny to read, but I’m sure not funny to experience. Your weekend HAS to be fabulous!
janet @ ordinary mom-OMG! I feel so much for you. Isn’t it always the way that when something like that happens, a bunch of other craziness happens too. But I have to said I laughed out loud (literally not LOL-ing) when you said “put that on pinterest.” Glad to see you kept your humour. Some days it is all we have.
kristine cline -Keepin’ it real sister! Hallalujah! Amen!
Leslie Davison-Oh my gosh! I’ve had jobs like those…4 kids brings you all kinds of stories.
jackie grandy-So sorry Meg. That is the one thing I hate as well, cleaning up poo, throw-up and blood. It’s just plain gross. I wish there was a service that could come out on a whim and take care of those messes. I could never be a nurse.
I hope today is a better day for you and you get some much needed pampering.
xoxo,
Jackie
Terrie-Been there…..done that.
I think I’d ‘repin’ that one!
Hope today is better!
Can’t wait for all those crafts!
I’ll be in mine too…hopefully creating something cute!
Gina Mitchell-You are my all time favorite blogger! I am sorry about the rough day, but you sure know how to turn everything into a great read!
Kelly -Put that on pinterest!!!!! Ah ha ha ha ha! Love it! Kelly
Jenny B.-Oh, that is TERRIBLE! None of the kids would claim the scene? Are they blaming the dog? CRRRAZY!!! Maybe it was Ashley Ann’s elf on the shelf… you know, Mr. Tinkles Poopsalot? 🙂
Ani G W -You made me LOL. The Pinterest comment got me. Sorry you had a poo-filled day. I hope today is better!
April M -you rock even though your day soooo didn’t.
i have to go do laundry now
and now i can do it w a grateful heart
bc it’s not “poo-crime-scene” related
and bc my washer works
(pray yours does too immediately amen)
p.s. I love your photos but I’m so glad this post didn’t come with pictures 😉
Jenna@CallHerHappy-Meg! Thanks for sharing this 🙂 Out of your poopy day you reminded us that, yes, sometimes you have to clean poop off the walls! A good thing for everyone to keep in mind!
Jenna

Kelly-Yuck. I hate days like that. Not that I’ve had a day exactly like that but days where you can’t imagine one more stupid thing happening…and then it does.
And you know someone really will put that on Pinterest now right? 🙂
Sandy -Meg, I am excited to see what you are doing for craft week. I tried this last year and it was great! 2 of my kids have already asked about WHEN we are doing crafts. I’ve been putting it off because I like to cheat off of you. You are inspirational to me. I love reading about your daily life!
Lynnette Ross -This makes me feel so much better. Sounds evil but my number 2 is always up to something and sometimes it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has days like this! Love your blog.
tiffany gardner-ahhh…i only laugh because oddly enough…i have had that same day in my life too. (not yesterday..but with kids and a dog..it has happened several times.) sleep…my favorite blog girl…sleep! xoxo
Sandy -Oh that sounds just terrible. I’m sorry you had to go through all of that but the good news is … TODAY WILL BE BETTER! 🙂
Meredith@count it all joy-The Glamour. You are just living the dream baby. Some days are diamonds, some days are….not so much. I can imagine you had the best hot bath EVER afterwards. Happy crafting. Meredy xo
amy -…just think of how many “life points” you earned! 🙂 I always try to wake up and reflect on the verse “This is the day which the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.”…..I’m sure that when I’ve recited that on a “poo day” (and I’ve had’em too), the good Lord is like, “Yeah, we’ll see how you feel about that in about 8 hours….” Tomorrow will be better. 🙂
Tanya H-Well, I have decided that a- today was a pretty lousy day for most of us, and b- you win. Tomorrow WILL be better than that!!
Rebecca -ugh! that’s pootastic!
but the pinterest comment made me laugh!
Tracy Fisher -It’s after 11:00pm… I am up… alone… finishing up Christmas orders…and I am exhausted…. and this is soooo what I needed. I will laugh and smile myself to sleep. Great story. Maybe I’ll have to paint that quote… I get it even though it was you it happened to. Mother’s just get it.
Sweet dreams. Tracy Fisher
Leah-That sucks, Meg. Isn’t the case when you finally feel like you’ll never have to clean up kid and animal pee and poo off the floor, it just starts happening all over again! We seem to be going through something similar. What the heck? … And so excited for Christmas Craft Week. I was about to ask if you’re doing that again this year. Can’t wait!
Jennifer-What a day! You definitely sound like you deserve some rest tonight…hope tomorrow is less stressful for you. Enjoy the zzzz’s…
Hugs!
brooke-girl….a day like that earns you an afternoon at Healing Waters…or at least the seedy pedicure place down town 🙂
praying tomorrow is less poopy
hannah singer-oh my heck. sending you a hug. also laughing.
much love to you and prayers for sweet, rock-like rest!
and a poo free weekend, of course.
xo
Mindy W-Ha! Totally real life. Hope your machine gets fixed- I would be going bonkers. Hold on. Heads up, girl!
Johanna -[cyber hugs] & thanks for sharing:) your glamorous day made me smile, sweet dreams… may there be no more poo or sandwich thieving but a fixed washing machine immediately, amen!
holly kurtzer-cute! miss elsa was sitting on my lap listening, when it was all over in her sweetest 18 mo. old voice, she said “MORE! MORE!” thanks for sharing!
kristen@fit2feelbetter-Great way to start the day! Thanks. My favorites were
the bus and the kids spinning. Funny how all of the kids are having fun and the adults are stressing out about it (-:
Trish-This is from a small village just a little ways out from where we live!! Love that it went viral….it put Quinhagak (pronounced Quin-hawk) on the map!
Michelle From Australia -Love it! And as we sit here in Summer Down Under, I can’t begin to imagine how cold Alaska would be at this time of year. Thanks for sharing Meg.
Nicole -If you like this version you should check the Hallelujah chorus sung by monks at youtube.com. So funny!
Tanya H-That is hysterical! 🙂 TFS!
That song *always* takes me back to HS where our choir worked on it from September-December. for three years.
Kim from Miracle-Round-Happy cleaning. Decorating is always happy. I must go vacuum and rescue some ornaments from a puppy who thinks the Christmas tree is for him.
Meaghan -That was cute! You can tell it was a community-wide project!
chrissi -Made my day. Merry Christmas!
Tiffany -I like the packages from the plane. Good one for sure.
Susie -LOVE that!!!! Thanks for sharing it ~ I’m going to pass it on!
it started out a little rough. i thought "it's so cold, i'll make the kids some breakfast…they will like that" (you know…like those good moms) i made them scrambled eggs. NO ONE wanted them. rejected.
i drove my kids to school and went to get gas on the way home. i was so happy because i had $1.00 off my gas per gallon from our fuel points! (we bought gift cards to buy the gifts we are already going to buy anyway and that way you get 4X fuel points until the 11th… it is so RAD!) after i finished filling up…. my car wouldn't start. i was in my pajamas!! and my cell phone was at home on my bedside table. i waited and hoped it would fix itself. it didn't. so i had to go and ask for help in the store…. in my pajamas. niiiiiiiice.
two different guys tried and they finally got it going. thankful for that. i went straight home & cuddled on my couch with a cup of hot coffee & tried not to move for the rest of the day.
here are my feet…. parked in front of a space heater…. all day.
i wore my hat all day… and that blanket.
i kept my hands warm too.
i sat here until i had to pick up the kids. and i FINISHED all my photo editing!! hallelujah. when my computer broke awhile back all of that work had to go on hold so i was still not done. but now i AM! finally.
i made my christmas card online. i finished up my online shopping.
oh internets….how do i love thee.
i have one more thing and I AM DONE with all my shopping! that makes me happy happy happy.
but we have no decorations out other than the tree. so that will be started on today.
AND my washing machine is still broken. i know right?!
it was the week before thanksgiving!!! can you say S L O W ? ? ? not too happy with our service center…. not at all. they obviously don't have five children & don't understand the enormity of three weeks with no washing machine. it's safe to say my kids' hygiene could be a bit gross at this point.
i did hop up to put dinner in the crock pot and make some cookies. it seemed like a cookie kind of day.
i LOVE when my kids come home and they are overjoyed by homemade cookies on the counter. that's a good feeling. much better feeling than having your scrambled eggs rejected.
some happy mail arrived from heather bailey….lovely fabric but what i love even more is this cup!
MOM's ONLY. no one else may use my cup. ever. MOM's. don't even try it.
i found some cute stuff while surfing….
border line ugly/really awesome mirror that would probably rock in my house at pier one. it's BIG
love this zebra chair…. it was at Kirlands. cute set of pencils… at paper source.
you can believe me when i say…. i got on the NOTIFY ME email when i saw this watch.
i fed my kids a quick dinner at 5 and then they all loaded into the car with Craig and left for the WHOLE night to go to a KU basketball game! he had a few tickets and wrestled all day with who to pick to go with him. and then finally decided to find two more and take them all. i love that. i love that he didn't want any one of them to be sad so he found a way to take them all. this was the picture he sent me. he said annie fell asleep after half time. HA!
as soon as they left i sat right back in my spot and kept working on pictures!
i got up again at 11:15 and put on real pants instead of pj pants and my coat and went to walmart for this…
annie's teacher is starting a KNITTING CLUB during indoor recess. i teared up when i read the note. that is the cutest, sweetest, most adorable idea ever. how awesome is she?!! would you volunteer to teach first graders to knit? me either. she is amazing. and annie was SO excited about it.
so it was worth the cold trip at 11:15 to an empty walmart to get knitting supplies for today. totally.
ok…. it's TIME TO DECORATE THIS HOUSE for christmas.
crank up the Vince Guaraldi Trio. (hee hee hee)
oh yeah…. i know how to rock.
happy wednesday. i hope you get some chrstimas cheer going on at your house too.
Renee -Baking a batch of chocolate chip cookies using your recipe right at this very moment! It was an after supper surprise for my daughter who is 7 and LOVES to bake with me. This is something I don’t do often enough and during this busy time of year I begin to realize it is not the amount of gifts under the tree but time with me that she truly cherishes!
Thumbs up for the recipe from our house!! Thank you for sharing!
crystalbeutler-Pajamas + broken car + no phone = one of my worst nightmares. So glad someone was able to get your car started so you didn’t have to wait for a tow truck.
Knitting club — love it. My old roommate (before I got married) was a school teacher and she did that for her class. She wrote to all the knitting companies to get free yarn and needles. It was so cool. Love teachers who love teaching. Annie will always remember that. Always. Can’t wait to see what she makes. My first project was a midi skirt and top for my Barbie. I still have it. It’s hilarious looking.
Is it awful that it’s December 9th and I still don’t have my house decorated??
Heather@Creative Family Moments-I can SO relate. My washer broke the day before thanksgiving. Thankfully a neighbor let me use her washer, until – desperate and not wanting to bother her anymore – I did two loads in my bathtub using a swiffer handle as an agitator. Yeah. We have a new washer. SO thankful!
Lindsay F. -I saw that mirror at Pier 1 this week! It looks much different in person, almost like stained glass… Loved it. I’m sure it would look great in your house!
Randi-I love that Annie’s going to learn to knit. I do knitting camps for little kids all the time and it’s so rewarding to see kiddos catch on to something that’s almost a lost art.
Kate S. -And this is exactly why I will NEVER, EVER leave my house in pajamas. I live in fear that something like this will happen . . . it’s like that joke about never wearing your “holey” underwear because that’s the day you’ll end up in a hospital, having your clothes cut off of you and every nurse in the building will hear about the hideous undergarments you wear.
karen gerstenberger-You probably made the guys’ day at the service station in your pjs! My mom once drove my brother to school without changing out of her bright green bathrobe…and her car was totalled on the way home. Mom was fine, but no more 1966 Mustang – and many embarrassing moments spent on Main Street in a bathrobe, as buses full of kids (and countless cars) passed by.
We need to decorate, too – I’ve been editing my book all week and haven’t had time yet. Today is a Christmas cookie-baking party, and tree farm day is Saturday! YAY!
Mrs Montoya-You are just the cutest ever. I’ve always feared I would get stuck in a situation like that when I leave in my PJs. I am sure you rocked it. And I do think the knitting club is the sweeest idea. That’s one brave lady.
Jenna@CallHerHappy-what a fun little post full of fun things to do! cookies, knitting, surfing, editing, pjs 🙂
Jenna
callherhappy.com
Tiffany -Cute hat Mamasita. And why oh why does food rejection hurt so bad. Happy Thursday!
Gemma @ Musings of a gem-I love these posts Meg! You were brave to venture out to Walmart in the cold!!!
Gemma x
Lisa -As bad as this may sound, I cannot wait for all my kids to be in school! 🙂 The thought of working on whatever I need to get done or doing what I want while they are gone sounds great! Glad your day didn’t end up as crazy as it started.
Aby -you totally and completely crack me up. I want to be your bff. lol
sue -You need to come live with me in the desert. Nice and warm most of the time.
Tonya-i’d much rather be caught in public in my pj’s than w/out some support for the girls…no one needs to see that i promise you!
i’m so envious of your day at home! i used to have days like that until i decided to go back to college. somedays i really, really miss being home!
my hubby took our daughter to the ku game last night too! so eli and i had a nachos, popcorn and transformers dark of the moon night…it was perfect! i even got told numerous times that i am the best mom in the history of moms!!! he’s only 7, so he still thinks i’m pretty cool! 😉
Amy-What a sweet, sweet teacher! I love it! And what a lucky little Annie, I bet she’ll remember it and that teacher forever, you never forget the good ones!
Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode-I’ve been caught in my pajamas before…not pretty and I still go out in my pajamas (such the risk taker that I am) but I did learn to never be in public without my bra….HA!
becky@oursweetpeas-OK we are long lost sisters. My washer is broken and we are on week 4. Our lovely service department keeps saying “well, this is the LAST POSSIBLE THING it could be” and then they tell me they have to order another part that will be here in a week. I have 3 kids, one who still poops her pants and one of my twins has potty issues at night. Yeah, it’s good times over here. 🙂 Thankfully my sis lives close and she gets to have me crash her house 2x/wk. to do laundry. I am a total freeloader, what can I say??
OH and I rock out to Vince too AND declared today a cookie day (sugar cookie though)! Enjoy your days bundled up and I must agree with the others you know how to rock a hat and gloves. 🙂
erin -I felt that way today. No makeup, sweats, Uggs, big ugly mens t-shirt, not so pretty ponytail. To cold to care!
Amanda Fuentes-These are my favorite kinds of posts! Keep them up! Can’t wait to see the house decorated pics. Happy Wednesday.
Jennifer-Meg…you are just too cute in your hat and PJs…I love it! It’s finally getting a little chilly down here in South Texas–I am enjoying it. Lots of hot chocolate and homemade cookies have been on our short list these past few days with the weather change. Have fun with all your Christmas decorating. 🙂
Ivie -I rarely comment – but I always check in. And today your post cheered me on a very cold and windy day in the Netherlands. Thanks Meg! x
Kimberly Dial -OMG … don’t ‘they’ realize that if ‘they’ don’t get your washing machine fixed soon it’ll break down again catching up all the laundry! LOL God bless your heart 🙂 Struggling with Christmas cheer today in WV … it’s raining & cold (with ‘talk’ of snow on the evening news!) … my bones hurt & I’m …. stopping right there … (sorry, I was sounding like a bit of a brat … I apologize) … Merry Christmas!
April M -Not sure what it is but I don’t feel like whining ’bout anything after reading that 🙂 what an awesome thing! Thanks Meg!
Teresa Thomas-Gee thanks, now I need to make cookie dough. 😉
Cecilia-Awesome hand warmers! I’ve had a similarly cozy day with ups and downs today. I’ll take it 🙂
Kim from Miracle-Round-Glad to hear your car started again. I often forget my phone at home. Gotta work on that!
It looks like your day got better as it went along. It must feel great to have all your pictures edited.
Cute coffee mugs are a must. That way your kids (or in my case, husband) won’t steal it!
Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails-Funny…that same CD is played in my (third grade) classroom on a regular basis now. The kids LOVE listening to Christmas music during free time/indoor recess. And the best part? I scored a ton of brand new, still in plastic Christmas CDs at the local thrift store for only $1.99 each!
Love your slippers:)
Kacey-These are my favorite posts! I’m sorry your Tuesday wasn’t wonderful, Meg – hope your Weds. is much better!
p.s. I occasionally wear my pj’s to drop off my kindergartener and I always think, What if I have to get out for some reason? But it’s just so much warmer and cozier in comfy pj’s!
AshleyAnn-I really want to sit and drink coffee and eat chocolate chip cookies and get work done on my laptop…in pj pants…next to you.
jen@thecottagenest-Poor Meg! And that is why I rarely wear my pj’s to take Emma to school. I had a friend that was in a minor car accident a few years ago after she dropped her daughter at school and she was wearing her pj’s. She was so embarrassed and I have always kept that in my head. But then I read your story and I thought. So what? You survived it. It wasn’t fun but the world didn’t end and now I think tomorrow I will wear jammies to take her in celebration of you! Thanks for liberating me.
Ashlyn@Pinecone-I always think about that happening when I am in the pj’s – isn’t it great to know our worst fears CAN be realized 😉
xoxo
Kerstie-Just listened to the song with my 3-1/2 year old son. His response…… “what are you joke-en me with that song”!!!!! What do kids know…… 😉
52scrap -I absolutely LOVED this post! Probably because I can so relate!! 🙂
Vonda -That has always been one of my biggest fears when I bring the kiddos to school!!! The elementary school is very close, but now that they are in middle school I do at least put on my sweats-I still wouldn’t want anyone to see me tho!:) I think the knitting club is the most wonderful idea! I wish I knew how to knit. Your cookies look soooo good! Have a wonderful day!
carissa... brown eyed fox-bless your heart… in your jammies!
darn cars… why do they have to break at the worst possible times!
and i say… even though i loooove eggs… cookies win over eggs anywho! :O)
gOOd moms make scratch cookies!
Erika -I am so sorry to hear about your car and washing machine. The washing machine would kill me!!! May I ask where you got your darling hat? I LOVE that there are other great teachers out there.
Seriously Sassy Mama-I love to knit. i am doing it right now, next to my space heater.
jeana-Ha! I’ve been sitting with cozy boots and my gloves on all day. It is TOO cold for me. Love that they are starting to knit at school…if only I had one girl…just ONE! Ha! Merry Christmas!
Missy -Klutz books publishes a great learn to knit. Really simple, easy instructions with a few little projects too. Even I used it to help me refresh my memory!
Tracy -Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!!!
Wish my kids could have gone to the KU game, but alas, I married a Mizzou alum!
happygirl-Awwwwe. You’ve got troubles my dear. But you look MAAAAHVALOUS.
Amy G -I really, REALLY want that cookie recipe – they look amazing and I don’t have a great chocolate chip cookie recipe. Just can’t find one that I totally love. Please share it!
alaina -That is soooo cool that Annie’s teacher is going to teach them to knit! LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! However, i must say i was a little shocked that she is allowed to take knitting needles to school. We had a little boy in kindergarten get suspended for a plastic knife in his lunch pail to spread his peanut butter on his apple slices. Appalling, isn’t it?! When I inquired as to why, that this was OBVIOUSLY not a weapon in a 5-year-old’s hand, the principal told me, “The rule is no knives on campus, so it must be enforced”. Granted this was in OK right after the bombing in OKC, but still! Crazy. So glad to see that common sense is playing out in Annie’s school! 🙂
D-I read your blog all the time and am also consumed with RAINBOW colors. I saw this on Pinterest today and totally thought of you. Oh and I WANT that recipe for those cookies, love crispy cookies and they look like just my kind!!! Mine have been turning out chewy and I do not like that!! http://pinterest.com/pin/83246293081782387/
Dana @ Bungalow'56-Loved this post Megan. The car incident? As I’m driving my suburban to drop off the kids, I will often say a little prayer that I make it back home without anyone having to see me. I get especially nervous when I don’t have my phone. So I can rest easy now, since it happened to you, you’ve cleared the universe of bad mojo for the rest of us : ) haha. Although I’m guessing your PJS are colourful and cute, and it wasn’t quite as bad as it would be for most of us.
Dana
Lisa -My first grader is begging to learn to knit too! I got her the round knitting looms (cheater knitting) for Christmas because some lady in Michaels on Black Friday told me how great they. I LOVE that Annie’s teacher is starting a club. How awesome. Yea for teachers who go the extra mile!
Tricia-Meg: First, I’m glad that you were able to get your car running again! Second, I can totally relate to the pajama problem. I’ve been letting my take-the-kid-to-school clothing routine slide for awhile now. MY excuse is that I’m sick and combing my hair just takes energy I don’t currently have, but honestly I’m just lazy. However, yesterday was really icy here and, though I couldn’t work up the energy for a shower, I did get completely dressed because I could just PICTURE MYSELF sliding off the road, wearing my incredibly old and ugly pjs and bad hair! I even managed to wear a bra and I was incredibly proud of myself! 🙂 Clearly, I have a problem…
Angela-Ohmygosh, you’ve got to tell me where you got your slippers. (But of course, they probably don’t come in size 11 and/or don’t work well for women w large calves, so never mind…)
I don’t even go to the bathroom without my cell phone, much less actually LEAVE THE HOUSE w/out it. But I do leave in my pajamas sometimes. 🙂
BTW, have you been watching Parenthood lately? Thoughts? And do you watch Revenge? Soooo good.
Hope your Wednesday is better than your Tuesday was. (My kids would reject scrambled eggs, too. Well, two of them would. The third would probably eat them, but, alas, he’s allergic. Naturally.)
we have been planning this day for months. we knew it would probably be cold but i was so optimistic that we'd have decent weather for this race. we didn't. we were the Merry Mamas. but we were pretty FORCED in our merriness.
at least we looked cute! they postponed the race 30 minutes because of lightening but then we had to do it. i REALLY didn't want to. but we did. the WHOLE 4 miles.
3d player software-Such a lovely pictures which you share above. I like it so much. Every thing looking so beautiful. I impressed by that. It such a great photos.
carissa... brown eyed fox-ohhhh… saw that yall did it… and forgot to come by…
whooooop!
way to go merry mamas!
you rocked it meg… you did it!
Andrea Smith-Awww, so proud! My friends and I do the EXACT same thing! We run so we can hang out at Starbucks (usually for longer than our actual run takes). We celebrated for hours after we ran our first 2 miles without stopping! I do not lie. And look where we’ve come — we’ve run 2 marathons together. Keep it up Meg! There’s a bond between running friends that’s incredibly special. Exercise is just a side effect:)
Tina I -Congrats! Aren’t running friends THE BEST!?!
Brooke -So fun! Socks from target? I have the polka dot version. All races stink at the start but feel so good once you get going! Way to go!! You rock! I am recovering from baby, trying to gear up for a 5k…
Stephanie-Way to go, Mamas! Way to persevere! Can I skip the run and go straight to the Starbucks and chocolate covered strawberries?! 🙂 Great job – keep up the great work!
I love your blog. Lifts me up every day. Thanks!
Tracy Fisher -you are really an inspiration! i need to get moving!!!
tracy
crystalbeutler-Sooo cool that you did that!!!!!! You go girl!
My friend is trying to talk me into doing a 1/2 iron man with her.
Me. That’s hilarious.
But I might work out with her while she does the swimming and biking parts.
That sounds fun.
Miss you friend, hope all is well with you!!
Deb Meyers -woo-hoo!!! great job!
deb meyers
Jen Brandt -You go, Merry Mamas!!!! Congratulations!
Last weekend my girls and I did a sequel to your 2010 Christmas crafts! We made the handprint ornaments and handprint Christmas trees, along with some other crafts. Thank you for the awesome ideas. We had a great time making them!
Kacey-You are awesome!!! Every time I read about your running adventures, I think, “I need to start running!” Thanks for the motivation. 🙂
Brandy-Congrats! That is a great accomplishment. I hope to run in a marathon some day. Aren’t you glad you had friends there to push you through it when you didn’t want to do it? I’m glad you did!! 🙂
Brandy @ Brandy Designs
Cecilia Madden-Congrats on the race! Love your spirit…and those outfits of course 🙂
Jennifer-that’s awesome and I too love the outfits!! 🙂 I raced this past weekend too 🙂
Jenna@CallHerHappy-I’m so jealous! I miss racing. Maybe I need to get back into this. The baby is 4 mos old now. No more excuses!
Jenna

Alicia @ La Famille-yeah meg!!! i love races…well, sorta…it’s very nerveracking at the start, but such a great feeling afterward! way to go!!
se7en-Amazing, Well done you… you are such an inspiration!!!
Shannon-Awesome! love the socks! my hubby and i went to a hockey game for his work outing. he volunteered us to compete on the ice at half-time, against his other co-worker couples! we had to race on tiny little round sleds around the ice!!! we tied for 1st and 2nd! it was crrrrazy!
Kristin S-Well done Meg! That’s a great accomplishment and ya’ll did look really cute.
You look great BTW.
Did I just type “BTW”? I’m 40 years old. That’s so not OK.
Shannon R -I’m doing a Jingle Bell run Saturday here in Birmingham, AL. It’s supposed to be the coldest day in about three weeks. I’m sure not as bad as Kansas though. Great job on the run!
April R -Wowza! In the cold rain?! Awesome 🙂 Well done ladies!
Holly-awesome! We have been working none stop on projects at home this week!
Katie-yay! great job! your socks are the picture of cuteness, too. i’m glad that you spoiled yourself afterwards – you deserved it!
Emily -You look fantastic!! Congrats on the race!!!
Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode-Meg, you are awesome to run in the rain and for four miles 🙂 My weekend included a day out with the girls and it was amazing and it didn’t include any running (thank goodness)!
Heidi Jo the Artist-That’s awesome! I used to wear crazy stocks when I was in cross country in high school and my final gift from the team was another pair of weird/crazy socks.
My brother runs in races all the time and is encouraging me to run in one/some. So my goal is sometime in the new year, because I think it will push me more. I ordered my first pair of running shoes in a long time and they sent me the wrong size. 🙁 So hopefully will get right size soon and I will start running more than once a week.
Happy running!
TinaM.-way to go! i hope that was a peppermint mocha in that cup 🙂
Kathi -We decorated the tree and the house. Great job running 4 miles! I can run 4 miles in my dreams. haha! You are very inspirational.
amy jupin-y’all ARE crazy!
and motivated, and inspiring, and awesome, and MERRY!
so proud of you!
and it made me so happy to see jana too!
hi jana! (me doing a goofy wave)
xoxo.
Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft-Whoa, that DOES look like an amazing day! You all had such adorable attire. 🙂 Pat on the back for running four miles!!
Kerry-Go Merry Mama’s! you should be so proud of yourselves 🙂 So glad you had an awesome day – you totally deserved it, and MAN you all looked cute 🙂
Libby-Thanks Meg for sharing this and for introducing more people to Xander! And thank you for never being afraid to share your heart and love for God here on your blog!
Heidi Jo the Artist-Love helping these kids that need families. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Jodi-I’ve donated, but I’ve yet to visit the Holiday Shops! Off to check it out! 🙂
Janie Fox-My family is involved with Reece’s Rainbow. It is a cause very near to our hearts. We were blessed with Ollie Faith in February and it opened our hearts to Down Syndrome and the blessing it is. I am praying for Xander.
April M -praying for Zander, thank you for introducing him and reminding us <3
made me want to look up a verse
James 1:27 (NIV)
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Breeanna @ a brilliant melody-After reading this, I headed straight on over and read about Xander. I’ve never made donations online, but I really felt like I needed to. Made a small donation just now! Thank you for sharing this!
Megan B -We can’t afford to do much, but I knew I had to help. My little boy’s name is Xander. And he just got back from a Christmas parade with his cousin. They got lots of candy and had the best time. And now he’s singing (*yelling*) “Jingle Bells” as he sorts through his loot. I want this Xander to know this joy and just pure innocent fun of being a child that has NO worries in the world. I pray that by next Christmas, he has a warm house and happy family to call his own.
jane@flightplatformliving -oh i am so excited to find you…please do link up on my sharing sunday bloghop that is for giveaways for orphans. loving your heart. love from jane a reeces rainbow warriorxxxx
Laura Lee-I have a little boy the same age as him. I can’t imagine him being without me. I will be praying for him.
jeannett-tears my friend.
i love that you use your blog to glorify and serve.
because that’s what we are called to do.
i really despise how far away kansas is.
it makes me angry.
Jennifer Cooper - We made this for a Keepers at Home(like a Christian Girl Scout troop Christmas craft. The cost was about $5/ornament. The pins were $3 @ Walmart and the paper flowers were $6/bottle at Michaels. I think each bottle covered about 3 balls. These were easily finished in about 20 minutes by girls ages 5-11. Thanks for a cute and fun idea. Many planned to keep them hanging up through the spring.
jennibell - Love this craft idea! Each of the kids are making something for each family “basket” who we exchange gifts with and my 8-yr-old doesn’t have anything. . .yet. . .think I’ll show him this tmrw! Maybe his sisters will help too…. 🙂 Love your patience with the crafting with kids Meg!
Heather G. - YAY for more wells!! And yay for that cute ornament 🙂
Tiffany - Your girls are so pretty, They are really good crafters, these turned keep cute, keep em coming!
Christina - Nice craft! I love making christmas ornaments too! It can be so creative! I read your blog a lot lately (only discovered it 3 months ago!!). Some of you ideas are really great! Greetings from Europe 🙂
andrea - Oh Yeah! I saw some of these balls at hobby lobby & almost got some ’cause I thought we would find something to do with them. But I didn’t want to do anything too intense. These are perfect.
Tracy Fisher - Those ornaments are so HAPPY! Love them. And I needed that verse today after a moment of tears. I know God knows what He is doing with me… but once in awhile I’d love a heads up!
Tracy
Sarah Wolfe - This one looks fun. May have to try it this year. Since I have all boys, I may look for some embellishments that are more masculine. But I guess if I don’t find any, they could give them to the girls in their life 🙂
Christy - Oh I love that project! Thanks for the great idea 🙂
Kerry - Kid Giddy - Although it’s a little work to get the ribbon all the way through the center, it held on so much better to have a knot at the bottom. We made so many while my girls were in Montessori school, as it’s a great fine motor skill!
Kimber-Leigh - oh, my kiddos would love this project. makes me wish i hadn’t gotten rid of my 1983743987 prima flowers a while back. 🙂
Alicia @ La Famille - so cute!! my boys are not excited about craft day today…what’s their problem??!! 🙂
Kerry - My girls are going to LOVE this Craft!!
Vonda - Love the ornament-love the glitter!!! My daughter would love these!:)
Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Cutest ornaments ever! I agree…being perfect is definitely overrated!
Rebecca W - super cute ornament…looks easy too. 🙂
Terrie - Love these!
HaPpy Christmas Crafting!!
jackie - Love the Christmas balls! Great project for all ages!
Kimberlee Jost - So pretty.
I love christmas balls.
😉
amber - that is so cute! i’ve been needing a craft to do w/ my 9 yr. old daughter and her 5 yr. old cousin! I think this will be perfect and they can be of use!! love, love, love!
Michelle From Australia - Beautiful! Now that I’ve accomplished the bauble wreath from last year I might move on to this one. Thanks for the inspiration Meg.
Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - OH, those are so cute! Julia going to LOVE these!
Leah - I did that craft with my homework club kids last Christmas and it was great. Except our push pins kept falling out. Have you had that problem at all?
happygirl - Gorgeous ornaments. I’ve gotta share this craft with you. It just looks like something you would enjoy.
http://portlandpeeps.blogspot.com/2011/12/mini-paper-bag-scrapbooks.html
I wish you a very merry christmas. 🙂
Lindsey@ Piecefully Home - cute and simple, this is my dream kids craft. i’ll have to do this with my girl
Brook @ BeingBrook - So cute! We will have to give this a try at our house since I have most of that stuff laying around. So clever!
The Orchard - What a cute craft! My girls would love that! Thanks for sharing.
Jennifer - Oh my! I really like this craft idea. So cute and I especially like that it’s quick and a non-messy event. 🙂
Tanya - I love that ornament. Unique!
Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - These are adorable! I cant wait to try them….either with my own girls or with my students on the last day of school. WOuld be a cute gift for their mommas for Christmas:)
Alycia - what a great idea! i want to make one right now but i don’t have the little flowers. i have everything else tho 🙂
Trish - cute craft! we made ornaments tonight too… only ours was a complete mess. glitter. it was fun though. i don’t mind the glitter, it’s the hubs that can’t stand it 🙂
i too am getting a giveaway around! can’t wait 🙂
Southern Gal - Those are gorgeous! I love the white pins and the colored ones. I have most of this. A few more pins and I’m in business.
