friday business

waffle is at the vet getting neutered.

right now as i write this.
poor waffle.

driving 5 kid & a big nervous dog to school in our horrible school traffic while listening to the Annie
soundtrack is kind of like driving to a bus to CrAzyViLle.
oh my goodness.
it felt a bit like Sixteen Candles….
all we needed was kazoos.

i am full of randomness this morning.

check out this little goofball.

my sweet silly girl.
man i miss having that color hair.
when i was little i looked exactly like this…isn't that right mom?
she is Mini-Me.
i really miss my naturally blond hair.

forgot to show this last week…

IMG_8311

twinsies!
micah shared his extra tigger costume with annie for preschool!
it was big time excitement around here.

IMG_8331

ms. kristin made pumpkin pie playdoh.
it smelled exactly like pumpkin.  it uses an entire container of pumpkin pie spice!
it was so cool.  it tastes terrible…because it's playdoh.
i am sure many kids tried it just in case.
they pretended to make muffins and cookies.  it's so much fun in there!

IMG_8334

big plans for today:
cutting out a bunch of paper turkeys for my 3 year old sunday schoolers
having coffee with a friend.
sewing another curtain.
cleaning up my kitchen (how does it get so gross so fast?)
and sorting all the laundry i folded.
watching some DVR-ed shows (i am 3 weeks behind on 3 shows!)

many of you asked about the chandelier in the girls' room.

IMG_7949

it's from IKEA.
you can find it here but it's not available online.
you have to get a cord kit also….super duper cheap.
i love this lamp.

oh how i miss IKEA.
i wish i could walk through an IKEA today with naturally blond hair.
HA.

happy friday.

Emilie - I don’t know if it is “electrically” (i made that up) safe… but I have that same lamp and all I did was put the chandelier up to the socket and then screwed the bulb in under it to hold it in place… No cord kit! I posted a picture of it in my hallway re-do post a while ago… I LOVE that thing and totally need to buy more… at only 17 bucks how can you go wrong?

Rachel - Definately need that lamp!
What great pics…the kids are adorable! And poor waffle πŸ™

Deb - He is so stinking cute I just want to eat him up. Is that how you chose his name? Lol.

a thorn among roses - love the twins tigger! sooo cute. and ikea…well, you my issue with loving almost everything from there…and 16 candles is a must watch for everyone on the planet. i am introducing my small group of hs girls to it in a few weeks…i think that’s ok…maybe i should rewatch again first.

kasey - darling little kiddo’s.
k-

Lorilee - Meg,
Your photos are wonderful,as always! The chandelier is awesome. I have never been in an Ikea. MY hair is still blonde—-well with a little help from “Sun In” hee hee! This week has been crazy at school. Having our school used as a polling place and cool front all in one week is just too much for my 4 year olds!! We also made Pumpkin Pie playdough! It smells delicious! As soon as I could get my classroom in order, I picked my son up from Middle school along with 3 friends. I then took him and the same 3 friends to the high school football game. I had to pick Brian up early because he was sick. What an exciting ride with a feel like upchucking kid!
Blessings,
Lorilee

Tausha - Natural colored hair-what a far and distant memory! Funny Post! Your little girlie is darling!
We have an ikea here, very far away. Actually, it’s not really THAT far away-only about 2 hours. But 2 hours, is still 2 hours. I do also enjoy the chocolate covered marshmellows there. Not worth the drive, but I do like them!!

carissa - i think i could see yall driving down the street…
that was some good randomness! πŸ™‚
enjoy your weekend!

Lanny Stanard - I’m sure glad you didn’t show the picture of you in the wig, I tired to laugh… Have a great week-end…
Lanny…

mom - Yes, she is definitely a mini-you! It’s too bad that I don’t have some beautiful pictures like these of you at this age. Your dad just seemed to take the funny ones – which are great, but no beautiful ones like these.

traci - i love randomness!! cute pictures of talby. especially the last one with the sun flare – beautiful. i can definately see the resemblance.

Amanda - LOVE the tigger costumes. And the lamp. ANd my natural redheadedness from my youth. Always thought being a redhead was lame and weird…so switched to blond. Now I want my red back! πŸ˜‰ Luckily, I have been pregnant or nursing for the last 3 years, so no time to add articifical color πŸ˜‰ so I am just me right now.
God bless-
AManda

MGF - That Pumpkin Pie Play Dough is the bomb…. haha (I always wanted to say that).

PamperingBeki - Yes Talby looks just like you. πŸ™‚
That school parking lot, don’t get me started. (Don’t EVEN get me started…) haha! I actually honked at someone there for the first time yesterday when she nearly ran smack into my car. I’ve never done that there before.
Happy Friday!

meredith - 16 Candles is the best! Thanks for sharing all the Halloween festivities – just gorgeous.

Jaime Melcher - You’re SO fun! Our family has ‘relocated’ many times for my husband’s job-career- whatever… Next time we move, I think I should insist that we move to wherever it is that you live… we would be great friends! πŸ™‚ Happy Weekend!

Kelly - She’s so sweet! Does she want her hair short or do you insist? We’re starting hair battles over here and I can’t decide what to do (maybe you saw my post, begging for advice, lol)?
Love the Ikea light. Will add it to my list to check out next time we go!!

Trina - You are an inspiration.. sometimes I feel crazy just driving 2 kids to school… and look at all of the other things you can accomplish – wow! Inspiration. We have that same chandelier from Ikea and I have to admit, not to make you jealous or anything, but I did wander around there yesterday but without perfect blonde hair, I assure you that!

jennifer - Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you. In my kitchen baking cookies thinking to myself, “Bake cookies. Be happy!” πŸ™‚ It’s just one of those days. But at least it’s Friday.
I love the pictures of your daughter. You’ve such a good eye for just the right shot.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Diana Cornielle - yessss, your daughter looks just like you…you’re right, she’s a mini-you! Lol… Enjoy your day!

Tracy - Whew, Meg – that was a CLOSE one! I was needing my “fix” and just couldn’t imagine WHY you hadn’t posted the last couple of days! *lol* Seriously, love the tigger costumes, pumpkin pie spice “cookies”, etc. and the pictures of your beautiful daughter are just stunning – especially love the last one of her with her looking down and the sun shining all around her – just beautiful. Have a great fun-filled weekend! I can’t wait to see what next week holds!
Hugs, Trac~ :o)

Lisa - Hey Meg, great pictures of Talby. I was going to say that she looks much like you in the first picture. I think it’s that sweet little grin, it matches the one in your profile picture. Poor Waffle, my little Milo got fixed and declawed last week. Sometimes a little Friday randomness is good.
take care and have a great weekend,
Lisa

Kameron - I feel you in IKEA! I used to live near 3 of them and now the closest one is an hour away. I could get lost for days in that store! Have a happy Friday!

Jen - I β™₯β™₯β™₯ Sixteen Candles!!!!
Jen

Jenn - You had me at your pumpkin pic! We both got an award from the blogger behind jumpinginpuddlesoflife.blogspot.com and so I wanted to check out everybody’s blog that SHE likes and I just wanted to say that you have a wonderful eye and beautiful subjects and what seems to be an amazingly wonderful family!! The pics of your 4 year old storming the hood with her birthday ballons are stunning! Kinda makes me want to head out right now… though not being four, I may bet more confusion than smiles!!

we are party animals.

the first annual FALL block party.

perfect weather…good food…way fun.
i enjoy so much how we all combine ideas and work together to make it a great day for everybody.
there was bobbing for apples. these kids had no fear!

IMG_8641

amy is the queen of face painting with so much detail but we should have done it after apple bobbing!

IMG_8621

IMG_8632
IMG_8654

IMG_8674

since it was after halloween we had a DOG costume contest instead of people.
(it's too much work to costume up after the 31st…in my opinion)

Contestant #1 – MARLEY as a skeleton.  (she's waffle's sister…can you see the resemblance?)

IMG_8671
IMG_8697

Contestant #2 – EMMIE as a hula dancer. her curly tail held her grass skirt & she wiggled non-stop.

Contestant #3 – ?????? as a priate. (not pictured)

Contestant #4 – MILEY as a Chiefs cheerleader.

IMG_8687
IMG_8652

Contestant #5 – WAFFLE as Clifford….who was the worst behaved dog in the contest. ugh!

IMG_8684

we had a little runway in front of the judges.
Waffle was the big winner!
he won a bag of chewy treats…thanks amy.
poor baby was so humiliated all painted up.  he just pouted in his kennel all embarrassed.
it was spray hair color the washes out (he's still pink…but don't tell him that)

IMG_8650
IMG_8625

next activity – Pumpkin Launching.

we used a water balloon launcher to catapult mini pumpkins down the block.

this was my personal favorite activity of the day…i tried it and loved it.

IMG_8711

IMG_8715

Alexandra's went the farthest of all.
we came close to hitting a car and a roof but mostly just knocked branches off the dead tree.
i love this one of everyone watching or taking pictures (click on it…)

IMG_8729

IMG_8718
IMG_8722

the big kids tried to catch them in baskets and buckets at the other end of the block…it was HARD!
craig had an interesting technique for distance….

IMG_8733
IMG_8735

they would just FLY down the street.   can you see craig's pumpkin in top of the right picture?

IMG_8740

and of course there was lots of yummy food!
each family made a different soup in a crock pot – seriously…it was so good!
and do you see…there is a pumpkin spice cake there…jenn made it.  Mmmmm.
(and that HAS to be one of MY children's plates at the bottom with all the healthy stuff…HA!)

our last activity was pumpkin bowling.

IMG_8768
it was dark so all my pictures look like this.  but you can get the idea of why the kids loved it!
after this it lead into a "Smash-all-the-pumpkins-you-see" Game.
i mean really…what are you going to do with a rotten jack-o-lantern anyway?
might as well have fun before you throw it out.

we had 2 fire pits going and everyone just hung out talking getting warm the rest of the night.
so cozy and comfy…lots of hot cocoa and hot spiked cider.
i am so grateful for our block.  such a fun group of friends.

there is a house (actually 2 houses)for sale on our block – anyone interested?
Come on! just look at all the fun we have!
move to our block – but only if you are fun and like to party like rock stars.

Sara - Yeah, I want to move there too. Are there enough people in town to support a pizza place? πŸ™‚ Love the punkin’ chunkin’ idea. They do that on a large scale in my mom and dads town each year in some farmers field. Yours looks way fun.

Rach - Can I please move into your neighborhood??!! We have a sling-shot already so we come ready to launch. πŸ™‚ Looks like such a great place to raise kids and what great weather you had for October. Thanks for sharing.

JENNIFER RAMOS - Hi there, I just wanted to say that our blog has the most amazing photos…so beautiful! The doggie as Clifford for Halloween is such a cute idea…!! : ) Love the cushions as well a few posts down…so colorful, just my style!

You rock!
Hope you have a very lovely Thursday,
Jamie

Kambria - oh my goodness gracious! i want to be your neighbor. your friend needs to list her house and make it public so we can all have a snowball fight this winter…..does it snow in kansas? hmmmm….

Carrie K - sold!!! where are you??
love love love this block party…

kasey - lovely party. thanks for sharing.
k-

Lisa - Wow Meg what a wonderful party! Your street really knows how to have fun. I love the costume contest and all the yummy food. The pumpkin launch looks like fun too. I wish I could live on a street like that, But I think my friends and family would miss me if I moved that far away from them.
take care,
Lisa

Nancy - You have the best block parties! I want to implement them in my neighborhood. Maybe in the spring.

Barbara - What a wonderful get-together!! We hope to move from CA to your area. Could you please email the addresses of the houses for sale on your block. It’s exactly what we’re looking for and would be a huge time-saver!
Happy Fall, y’all!!

Alyssa - I gave you an award. The post will post later today. Check it out this afternoon.

Alyssa - Yes, I would love to move to your block. Looks like a grand time was had by all.

Becca - WOW..It all looks like so much fun. What a great neighbor hood. And the dogs look so cute all dressed up.
Will you do this again next year..or was it a one time thing?

princess lasertron - I love that party! i wish my neighborhood had parties. maybe I should organize that. or maybe I’ll move to your neighborhood. πŸ˜€

Leah - Don’t temp me MEG!! I didnt even know their were people out there that still had block parties! Must be such a blessing to be friends with neighbors!

amy d - man, when i see our block in pictures, it truly does look like the best block in the world!! (that’s cause it is!) that party was soooo much fun, can’t wait for the next one. the pix of the big kids at the end of the block is my favorite, the colors of the trees in the background is so beautiful, reminds me of the show “october road” who wouldn’t want to live here? suz, if your reading this, COME BACK!!!!

Aubrey - oh. my. gosh. can I move there? are there any jobs for my husband you think?
i’m still jealous about your 4th of july party.
i don’t know what’s cooler, the parties or that you ALL live in those awesome historical houses–a whole neighborhood full of them! with tons of huge trees!
was that lauren trying to catch pumpkins? she’s so pretty. and how cool that she wasn’t too cool to party with you?

Chicago Jen - I’m guessing your hubby took too long since I never got a call back. Or maybe it was you? Loved the block party pictures – have you worn your t-shirt yet? jen

traci - Fabulous fun!!!! We have never had a block party. I think on my entire block I only really like maybe 3 families out of 12..lol…Not much party fun in that!! You really are truly blessed.
You should take pictures of the houses for sale and tell how much and a few details. I might be interested πŸ™‚ I love Kansas

Carrie - LOVE THIS!!! These pictures are like my daydreams come true. I grew up in Brooklyn and we had block parties but I haven’t seen one since I moved from there many years ago, they don’t even have them there anymore. This just brought back SO many memories. And those homes, that street!!! My dream home is an early 1900’s home on a lovely tree lined street in a neighborhood like yours where all the neighbors are friends and enjoy spending time with each other like this. Just fantastic!

traci - as i was reading your post, i kept thinking, if i had to live in town, i would want to live on a street like yours. then i got to the bottom and you said there were 2 houses for sale in your neighborhood. here i come. do you think my family would realize i was gone.

melissa - i love reading your blog…i’m not sure how i stumbled upon it but i read it often!
we have a pretty close neighborhood like that…i wish we would actually throw a block party….we’ve been talking about it for YEARS!

carissa - you are TRULY blessed to have such fabulous… FUN neighbors! that is sooooo neat!
that was quite the time! so glad you shared all that fun!
ALL the dogs… so great!
do ya have that realtor’s number?

Diana Cornielle - I want to live in your block!!! lol. seriously! your block rocks!!!! Great idea!

Jen - I wanna move to your block!!!
β™₯Jen

Kelly - p.s. I used to LOVE bobbing for apples!
That tinker toy (?) pumpkin is greatness! Kelly

Kelly - I can tell that waffle’s sibling belongs to him. I love that y’all made waffle the big red dog! Fun idea! The whole block party is one big ole fun idea after another! That food looks amazing! We’re trying to sell a house in Missouri before we can buy one anywhere else. Kelly
p.s. I love how you told us to click on the picture. πŸ™‚

Andrea - Clifford! That. Is. Hilarious! Is he still that color? What on earth did you use? SO FUNNY!

Jill - Love your new pumpkin header too!!!!!

Jill - Fun!!! We used to have block parties like this!! Now we are on a busier street… yada, yada, yada…
You look like you have a happening block with lots of young families.
Love that pumpkin slingshot thingie!!
~Jill πŸ™‚

Deb - Oh, so fun!
And happy birthday, baby girl. My baby just turned 3, and I’m about to go blog about it.

Lanny Stanard - Oh Miss Megan, that poor dog! but so so cute!
Lanny…

amy - We do have the best neighborhood. Hands down. Tim and Mary and Weibe’s should give their relators your blog address! I have a picture of you launching a pumpkin that I’ll send you. So, so, so much fun! PUMPKIN EATER!

Rachel - That is what is missing…fun like that with fun neighbors. I love to party like Rock Stars!!!! What a great idea and that food looked delicious…how was the cake?

Lorilee - What a fun fall party! Love all the fun activities you guys did! What perfect weather too! Love Clifford!

Tracy - Man, count me in as being one of the jealous ones too! Looks like you had a great time and great pictures. Loved the one of all the yummy looking food! With all of this kind of fun going on – I can’t imagine WHY anyone would want to move from there! Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Trac~ :o)

Catherine - Just stumbled across your blog thanks to a tip off at LaLaLovely! I will be adding it to my favorites for sure!
Can I come and live in your neighborhood…what a great event! πŸ™‚ “Clifford” the most “misbehaved” costume is wild! I have never seen anything like that before!
Ohhhhh, and the spread of food, yum, yum, yum!

Mrs.Hooks - I love all of this. Perfect for this time of year. But I am dying for the red cake plate.(the one with the chocolate covered strawerries on it) Please find out where it is from. I need this!!! Have fun.

sara - wow! your neighborhood looks like so much fun! we have the only kids on our street. but we do have lots of grandparents that love the kids though.
thanks for sharing all the fun stuff you do.

brittany - sign me up for one of the houses on sale! how fun!

Karen - I’ll be there right away!! How far is the commute to Iowa? Hmmm…maybe I could talk my husband into getting his pilot’s license!

supermommy - Wow! That’s awesome! I wish our neighborhood was like that. It’s a bunch of older people around here.

Sandy - Please post pictures of houses for sale – I’m seriously going to buy one of them!
All this time I thought it was just you and your family and now I find out its the whole dang neighborhood! Kansas Rocks!! Who knew?!

Christy - SOLD! What fun you all have. The way it should be!
I need to try this in my neighborhood. I have a couple grumpy pants neighbors, but I am sure I could get the rest involved in something like this. Thank you for sharing!

MGF - Too Much fun…..
This gives me so many ideas.
Thanks for sharing.

PamperingBeki - Darn you for making me jealous again!! πŸ˜‰
I soooo wanted to plan a fall block party this year and just haven’t had time. πŸ™ That’s the downside of running my little business. I miss out on fun things like this.

IMG_8867

the birthday girl.
it was a very big day for miss annie.
daddy made her birthday pancakes in his suit and tie. (i loved that craig.)

IMG_8788
IMG_8784

she brought donuts to preschool…they matched her outfit.

IMG_8792
IMG_8805

we took two of her friends from school to sonic for lunch and we ate it at the park.  it was adorable.

IMG_8798

she helped me frost her cake and decided on the sprinkles and decorations.

IMG_8831

she got dressed up in her special birthday outfit before daddy came home.
i made her take pictures. (of course i did!)
but it was HER idea to walk around the entire block with a dozen balloons.
how nice to see so many smiling faces in the 5:00 traffic.

IMG_8899

IMG_8884
IMG_8857

IMG_8875
IMG_8877

IMG_8887

we ordered pizza (and cheese bread sticks for annie) and drank sprite.
annie opened her presents…
hannah montana microphone, playdoh ice cream set, red mary janes, a book, a webkinz and jewelry.
we sang happy birthday and ate cake with ice cream.
i told her about the day she was born and how we looked at her and said "she looks like an ANNIE"

then like most four year olds do after a long day of attention and sugar…she had a tantrum.
daddy tucked her in for a much needed rest.
happy birthday big girl.

sandi - How in the world could anyone NOT smile at your cute little girl in the outfit!LOL… That picture is just too adorable for words.

Jamie Sampson - I love your blog.
She had a totally rocking birthday outfit. I love the super big 4 on her shirt and the kagillion pink balloons, it doesn’t get better than that.

lisa - Oh Meg,
Annie is so precious. I love the matching donuts and lunch in the park. You really do such wonderful things with your kids. The cake is so pretty. I like the idea of using her toys as the decorations. My absolute favorite thing about this post has to be the photo shoot you two went on. The walk around the street waving at cars must have been so cute. A great memory for when she is older. I think everyone should be allowed to wear loud tights and tutu’s on their birthday. Happy Birthday Annie
take care,
Lisa

princess lasertron - happy birthday annie banannie!

that girl - I would like a pink tutu and a shirt that says “40..” lucky girl!

carissa - that little pumpkin… she’s FOUR!
what GREAT pics… treasures forever!
i love her cake… what a fab idea Annie!
pet shop critters are the best!

Staci - Ahhh….Happy Birthday Sweet Annie πŸ™‚ What a cutie pie! I LOVE it that her idea was to walk down the street with her balloons. So sweet!

Trina - What a fun birthday…
BTW …. love your blog and your home.. just did a post about it on my site
http://www.lalalovelythings.blogspot.com
Cheers!
Trina

Nani - I just came across your blog and love it! The birthday outfit it’s awesome!!!
Love the name (I’m biased since my name is Anna too :))

Liz - Meg, one this is for sure… you’re children have the most wonderful pictures of their childhoods! You are so so so talented, these pictures are fabulous!

Blanca - Happy Birthday Annie! You are so blessed to have spent the day with her. She and my Logan share a birthday. He turned 5.

Jodi Peck - OHH! WAY TOO CUTE!! Please tell me you are going to frame some of those pics and put them out for all to see! She is a living doll!

Suzanne - sounds like just about the best birthday EVER!! adorable, precious, cute, beautiful pictures!! and you KNOW how much i love the name annie:)
we’re celebrating jack turning 6 tomorrow…so many birthdays out in blogland the last few days…
happy happy birthday, miss annie!!

Pattie - Wouldn’t the world be an awesome place if everyone had Annie’s zest for living. (and a photographer who paints the day with such happiness!) She is adorable.

Amanda - These pictures are priceless and beautiful. What a little angel! Got any cake left over????
God bless-
AManda

Sandra - What adorable pictures of a darling, STYLISH little girl!

katie - picture perfect! those are the best darn pictures ever!

Ashley - The pic of her walking away with all things pink: balloons, boots, tights….that is an incredible picture. I loved them all, but that one topped my list. It just captures so much about a 4 year old girl – all girly and WALKING down a street.

Amber - What a cutie pie! Happy 4 years to Annie. I love her special birthday outfit. It reminds me of one of my classic outfits when I was little…leotard, tights, tu-tu and cowboy boots. I like her style!

sara - happy birthday annie!! you make a beautiful 4 year old. i bet my 3 year old would have a crush on you (he likes older women).
anyways, your picutres are fab as always & your blog is inpriational.
thank you for sharing your life with us!

Jen - There is nothing like a four year old. Big enough to be a big girl, little enough to have chubby cheeks. Awww, it passes so quickly, as you know.
β™₯ her to bits!
Jen

Melanie - Meg,
I could SO eat her up! She is adorable. I even had to show my husband when he got home from work:) I also love how much you love Craig. My husband and I have known each other since 7th grade (I got sidetracked with a quick 4 yr. marriage) and we got married 17 years ago. I am more in love with him today than the day that I married him. (we were born in the same hospital, same day, & 11 hrs. apart) It is nice to see someone else in a happy marriage and enjoying each other. You just don’t see that very much and I can appreciate that about yall.

Krista - SHE is too stinkin’ cute!

meaghan easterhaus - seriously the cutest lil gal ever! i can say that cause i have two boys. i mean really, the birthday outfit, really

brittany - Happy Birthday Annie! I LOVE her special birthday outfit! I definitely need a girl so I can dress her so cute as well!

Tausha - the pics are darling!!! I love the cake! Great idea to put littlest pet shop on the cake! My girls would have flipped! I too would love if my hubby made pancakes in his suit and tie. Not that he wears a shirt and tie, but hopefully soon! (we are waiting to hear on a new job opportunity!)
Love it all! She does look like an ANNIE! Funny, how our kids take on the personality on their name.
Fun day.

a thorn among roses - the shirt u made looks fab on the bday girl! she is soooo precious! and i love that she wanted to share smiles with rush hour! what a great kid!

Diana Cornielle - Great job capturing this wonderful day for her! I love her outfit is so adorable! It sounds like she had a fun and busy day! Did I say that I love the pictures? lol.

Amnah - Oh my goodness I love this!!! My daughter turns two in four days, can I steal your mini photo shoot ideas???
I’m so glad my sister introduced me to your blog. She LOVES your home! Me too :o)

jennifer - LOVE the boots
LOVE the tutu
LOVE the tights
I want to wear them, but they wouldn’t look as good on me, I’m sure.
It looks like it was a wonderful day that and she’ll have so much fun looking back on all those pictures!

Jess - Great pictures!!! I love the balloon shots you got…perfect light. And I love her style…only a four year old can pull that off!! I wish my Caroline could meet your Annie! -jess

Christy - Great pics! What a fun & colorful birthday!
Love, love, love that outfit! I have her match in a 5 yo boy version. His outfit this weekend, long sleeve blue top, purple basketball jersey, matching shorts, long black socks, army green fisherman’s vest & Batman crocs oh & his left over beard & mustache tattoo from Halloween (he was a Pirate), couldn’t get it off!

traci - happy birthday annie!!!!! such a big girl. i so hope that as annie grows she keeps her happy, carefree, anything goes spirit. everyone should be able to dress as they want and walk around the block with a dozen balloons on their birthday. i’ll do it without the number across my chest though.

Lanny Stanard - Are you kidding me! look at those picture’s priceless! I love them way to go! Happy Birthday Annie!
BiG hUgS! Lanny

Lizs - Love, love, LOVE that outfit!!! And the pictures with the balloons are too cool!

MGF - The boots totally rock……
The joys of the sugar high and crash.

Darby - Meg, Not sure where I’ve been but I was just introduced to your blog! Can we please be friends!? I took it upon myself to copy Annie’s birthday shirt for my Morgan {who turned 4 today!}. My twin sister {http://urbangraceinteriors.typepad.com/the_blog/} & I spent ummm… too long on your blog this weekend drooling over your house renovations and we are smitten with your house {especially that kitchen}, your mad photography skills, and your creativity! You are an inspiration and I’m thrilled to have “found” you! I absolutely can’t wait to get to know you better!!! Happy Birthday to your Annie!

chris - Oh how Annie has grown , have you notice there is a real lack of trouble posts due to Annie, she is adorable , and I love that wonderful outfit , couldn’t be cuter.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE
Chris all the way from Canada.

Nessa Dee - What a wonderful day! Love the tutu pictures…priceless!

PamperingBeki - Awwww!

Nina - Happy Birthday to Annie
and I just love the pictures!!

kristin at prairie daze - yup.
that’s me.
that’s when i went to the park.
we had to go because it was annie’s birthday.
it was the best going in jail.
we were pretending.
—eliza

Sandy - Would it be ok if I photoshop my (now 18 year old) daughter’s 4 year old head on Annie’s pictures and frame them? Those are A-dorable!! I love the outfit and the pink balloons and the cowboy boots!! (…and the pancakes and the cake…)

answers

there were bunches of questions about the play room and i love that!

1. Is that an original Fisher Price doll house from your childhood?

IMG_8376

it IS an original but it wasn't mine.
my mother-in-law got it for lauren at an auction.
we tried to get the bag of people too but we were outbid.
and now that i realize they are choking hazards i am glad about that.
when i see it i always think of the church nursery when i was little.
and i love that doorbell still.

2.  When can i visit?
you girls are funny.  if i had a B&B, i'd have booked the year with just blog readers.
but seriously…imagine how UN-relaxing it is visiting here.
the kids wake up at the crack of dawn and our bathrooms have no locks….
just ask my grandma.
sean walked in on her.
and didn't leave.

3.  Did you paint the blue cabinet?
It came this way from Salvation Army all chipped up the way i like it.
It also had 80's spaceman contact paper over the top.
There are still handwritten labels taped to the front "undershorts  pants  socks."

IMG_8453IMG_8383

4.  Is the pinwheel fabric a pillow?
This was a baby blanket (crib size) that i found at the antique store….$6.
the front was the pinwheel quilt print and then someone (a grandma, no doubt) stitched those nubby ball
things through the white backing which is why the back is red polka dot.
i cringed as i did it but i cut in in half and flipped one side then sewed it together again.
it took 3 bags of stuffing to fill it!

5.  What color paint are the walls?

Behr Antique White.
All 7 of us were in Home Depot and craig and i were stressed.
he showed me some whites…i pointed to one and he said "are we good?"
that was the extent of that decision.

IMG_8456

6.  How do you make your duvets…a little more detail please?

On a queen bed you would use queen flat sheets or king if you wanted it really big.
i am pretty sure these were full/queen…so kinda small for me but i didn't realize till i was finished.
here's how i did it… the very unprofessional way –
pin your sheets together wrong sides out.
sew the 2 sides and bottom together but leave the top (the finished edge of the sheets) open.
then mark where you want your button holes and use the button hole setting on your machine.
sew button holes on both sides if you are using ribbon
or sew one side button holes and sew buttons to the other side.
instead of sewing on buttons i strung some ribbon through and called it done.

7. Can i hear more about the curtains?

there are five windows in this room…which means 10 curtain panels.
i bought 6 yards of good ($$) fabric and 10 flat twin sized sheets (the cheap wal-mart brand $3 each).
i took the top of the sheet and folded it under 7 inches.
then pinned on an 18 inch panel of the good fabric.
i sewed a zig zag stitch over the top of the panel which also made the sleeve for the curtain rod.
the edges are sewn down but the top and bottom of the panel are left with frayed edges.
they were just touching the floor but barely…
so i cut one fitted green sheet into ten 6 inch strips.
i folded a ruffle and pined it on and sewed on top.
very basic messy zig zag stitch.
so now they drape a bit more.
it took awhile because i don't like measuring things and having to have straight lines.

8.  i like that polka dot lampshade!

ok…that's not a question but i said i would show how i did it.
it was a gold lamp with a gi-nomous shade.  i bought it for $7 at our antique store…it was ugly!
but it had good bones.
and i put in my stroller and made annie walk home.  i looked like a bag lady for sure!

IMG_7879 IMG_7888
i stripped the shade of it's nasty smoke smelled OLD fabric.
i laid the shade on the fabric and cut a few inches bigger and ironed it flat.
after pinning it around the shade i took it off and sewed the seam to make it a tube shape.
i pulled out my trusty glue gun.  working very slowly in small amounts i hot glued the top all the way around.
then pulled it tight and hot glued the bottom.
i trimmed off the extra fabric with pinking shears and glued own any loose spots.
it didn't look finished to me so i tied the brown wide ribbon around it.  it's just tied on.
IMG_7891 IMG_7896

9. Did you paint that bed?

IMG_8463

this was in the backyard when we moved into our IL. house.
it was black and rusty.
a friend of ours welded it two sections smaller for us and we used it as our headboard.
then we moved here and it went to the basement for over 3 years.
it has a new life…in a new color…in a new state!
spray paint is the best invention.  i love instant gratification.
it's bolted to the california bed frame.

10.  Where do you find the time to be crafty?

i just have to make stuff.  i see things in magazines, stores, blogs, books and think "i have to try that!"
and then i forget what it was.
just kidding…i keep notebooks of ideas all over the place.
so i "find" time by choosing to make things over cleaning the house or folding laundry
or getting things done that i should have or by staying up way too late.
it's so much more gratifying to sew a cute pillow than to load the dish washer!
they will still be there when i finish the pillow.

IMG_8240

thanks for asking me. i don't claim to be an expert on any of this…just having fun making stuff!
hope you are still awake.
this was loooooong.

Ann R. - Meg – love you, love the room! My husband lost his job right before Christmas and I have been up to my eyeballs in resumes, references and thank you notes so I have been really missing my blog sites for days! So what a treat to see your posts – since you are my FAVORITE blogger. I know I should be emailing this question – btw – I feel the same about being creative – I am about ready to jump out of my skin – since I have not done anything creative since Christmas! Silly question – since I thing we are around the same age, do you remember the name or remember at all – a girlie toy – a set of girls really, they sort of resembled what today are the CALICO CRITTERS. They were soft like stuffed animals they were just as little as the CALICO CRITTERS and there hands velcrod together and the came with like a tree house or something – I cannot think of their name, but they were so cute! I thought you may remember them? Anybody?

Cara @ Twice Lovely Furniture - Yes. I know. πŸ™‚ You don’t have time, but you steal it. This is SO fun! The room, I mean–well, stealing time, too.

Tammy - One more question! Where did the READ letters come from?
Just love your blog- your creative energy and your “real life”Mom adventures.

eryn - Oh, how I wish I could shop with you at your antique store! I love your fun style and seriously wish you could just decorate my house with me…if only you lived in Washington πŸ™‚ I am in love with your playroom, and am insanely jealous. Well done!

melissa @ the inspired room - Oh, wait. I just saw the metal fence for the bed. I have TONS of those sitting outside right now getting rusty. We had intended to make a new fence out of it. But, we didn’t. I was wondering what to do with them when we move and now you’ve got me thinking. Spray paint!

melissa @ the inspired room - I have that same Fisher Price house. I had the whole town. The airport, the town with the barber shop, the barn…everything. I loved those!!!
Love that polka dot lampshade too. Hadn’t seen that before. Fun fun fun post!!!
Happy day!
Melissa

emily - i absolutely love the paisley/sunflower fabric and the polka dot on the shade!!!! would you mind sharing where you found it?
i’m such a sucker for bright fun and funky fabric!!!!

princess lasertron - good post!
I have that same little people house. LOVED it growing up and still do. I love the doorbell most.

sara - My sister referred me here and I am totally wow-ed by these posts! Can I grow up and have decorating adventures like this one day?? πŸ˜€ Those pillows look incredibly comfortable.

carissa - you bring so much happiness!!!!!! πŸ™‚

Jen - This entire post is great, but you summed it all up in “it is much more fun to sew a pillow than load the dishwasher”. That is what it is all about!
PS I had a dollhouse like that!!!!
β™₯Jen

Diana Cornielle - Wow, thank you for sharing all your ideas and projects for this room with us! I will now do what you do….. make notes of house decoration crafts, etc. with me and write down ideas when I see them. Starting with the projects from this blog! Thank you so much!

Laura - AH! Such an inspiring post!! I swear – are you super woman in disguise?

lisa b - Love Love Love all that you do!! What a fun play room/guest room. It gives me endless inspiration for our kids boring playroom. I have an odd question for you about your recipes. Could you email me…I couldn’t find how to email you. Thanks much!!

Victoria - Thank you for all the information!!!
I love that you said you choose to make something over loading the dishwasher. I am finding if I do all the chores first there is never time or energy left to do the fun stuff. Think I need to re-prioritize and put some fun things first!

Beth - Really incredible! I make curtains out of Wal-Mart bedsheets, too! So cheap, so gratifying.

Alyssa - love the post. Thank you for sharing your gifts of home beautification with us.

Art Cant Hurt - Love the mom-n-pop pumpkins with little ones!
Great banner!
Fun post – did you PLAN all the polkadots?!
πŸ™‚
Take care Meg!

cjs - ok, I’ve been thinking about changing my margins to accomodate horizontal pics and now it will look like I’m just trying to be like meg…
that room is amazing.
you really do need to be discovered.
seriously.

KDLOST - hey! just stopping by… found your blog through stolen bon bons… WHAT A GREAT BLOG YOU HAVE! πŸ™‚ will be coming back again. cheers!

Michelle - This was SUCH a fun post! Thank you!

Lisa - Oh Meg – you’re too cute. My favortie are the drapes made of sheets and the custom lampshade. you have me thinking now of a paper lamp sitting at home with a hole in it. I might just “borrow” your idea if you don’t mind. I also loved the part about finding time and the things that sometimes see the backburner for a while. I do the same thing. We all need a little creative balance in our lives.
Take care
Lisa
P.S – not sure if you’ve seen yet but I linked your original page about this room on my blog.

Candice - Thanks! As we speak I am NOT cleaning the kitchen or emtying the dish washer. I just hate doing all things cleaning, but bloging well I can handle that. Thanks for the q and a I always love your ideas.

Nancy - Everything is just way too cute. Our youngest girl wants a new comforter; her old one is in great shape so I think I’ll try a duvet cover. I’m going to have to locate a sewing machine….
Thanks for sharing!

traci - you need to do q&a more often!!! Loved that. I have company coming this wk. end and I have some delayed projects that because of your inspiration I am getting RIGHT ON!!! LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tausha - At our local thrift store, which I have not been able to frequent as much as I would like-they have had little fisher price house, and the barn. I picked it up and put it down. Picked it up again and put it down. Now, I really want to kick myself!! It looks so great in the space!!! I love the word Read on the wall! very colorful, fun space!
You asked what they call my headaches-they a psuedo tumors. There is some long medical term, i don’t know what it is or how to spell it. I hope that your friend finds some relief. Thanks for the kind words. have a great day! Can’t wait to see what else you come up with. Your happy spaces inspire me!!!

Holly - Thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. So glad you did.

Aubrey - I forgot to ask–where do you find such cute fabric (other than the sheets that I recognize)? Online?

Aubrey - Thanks Meg, I needed that. I’m glad I’m not the only one who forgoes dishes and cleaning and folding (or washing) laundry, or stays up waaaaay too late.
I’ll say it again, I love your style! I think I need to move to Kansas to get in on the flea markets and antique stores that we don’t seem to have here.

pam - your creativity is unreal!!! you’re an inspiration! xo

Blanca - Love this q & a. I have the same thoughts about things I see. I always want to try to make them myself. I wish I would have read this post before I went out to Linens N Things to buy a coverlet. But guess what I will make a duvet for my daughters room. Thanks for these fabulous tips.
Blanca

Rachel - You have the gift of creativity and I LOVE your stuff!

Allikayes Mama - I am bookmarking this post so i can come back when I am ready for your little tutorials! You are so my go-to girl! I make your recipes…and basically stalk you for your awesome ideas!!!

Kameron - I am proud to say you inspired me to want to be more crafty! My hubby actualy listened and got me a sewing machine for my birthday and I can’t wait to try it out. I’m making a duvet first since that seems super straightforward. Thanks for the inspiration!

courtney - you’re so generous to spend the time to explain all that to all of us! thanks!!!

Kelly - I noticed that Little People yellow house. I had it as a child and still love the doorbell too. That’s the first thing I thought of when I looked at the picture in this post. Thanks for all of the explanations. Very fun. I bought a lampshade for 50 cents at an estate sale earlier this month, planning to transform it but discovered after I got home that the bones weren’t really good. The up and down “spines” were just flimsy, fabric covered things and all I was left with was a top circle and a bottom circle. I’ll keep looking. πŸ™‚ Have a good day! Kelly

Jen r sanctuary arts at home - Everything looks great! I had that doll house! My mom got rid of it in my teenage years. I was very upset….

danyele-a thorn among roses - yeah for you…great answers! i just redid duvets for my girls rooms too and did much the same, but found killer deals on fabric so i got to use it, which meant cuts, which made it harder, but i refuse to measure…is that wrong?? love everything. and i wish we were neighbors…i think we might have the same crazy passion for always making stuff!

Michelle - My Mum still has my Fisher Price dollshouse. My kids and my nephews play with it now. I wonder how many of my children’s toys will last to be kept for the next generation?

Sarah - I didn’t even notice the little people house before, and I don’t know why, because it’s too cute.
I’m not very good with a sewing machine, but I think my new year’s resolution will be to try some of your nifty ideas out.

Kambria - oooh! oohh! i’m awake and have been waiting all day for an update. i had the same little people house when i was little and loved the door bell too. you are very inspiring, you do know that right? keep it up!

happy halloween

today was good.
much much better.
my hormones have leveled out again….ahhhhhh.

IMG_8557
IMG_8561
IMG_8420

today was perfect for halloween!

IMG_8428
IMG_8434
IMG_8423

while out walking the dog i caught some of our neighborhood in pictures.
love the black pumpkins this year!

IMG_8466

i stopped by annie's preschool to watch them trick or treat with the grandma and grandpas.
you can't see too well but the sign behind their parade says Friendship Lane.
sweet.

one of the grandpas took out his dentures for the kids.
kristin covered his face with her cape so she could warn the kids what was coming.
they were freaked out…little micah's eyes were huge!

it was hysterical.

IMG_8480

the kid on the far right was a bowl of fruit loops!  very original.

IMG_8550
IMG_8553
IMG_8406
annie wore talby's old pirate costume…with sean's old pirate costume over it.
and a piece from one of my dance costumes from when i was a teenager.
we scored the last pirate hat at target on thursday.

IMG_8566
talby decided to add a wig for a more dramatic effect.
she said "NOW i look like SuperGirl!"
we pieced her costume together out of a shirt and skirt from the thrift store,
some red vinyl and sean's old super man cape.
she loved it.  (thank goodness)
trick or treating was a success.
we can keep our dentists in business another year.
scott was too cool this year to dress up or trick or treat.
that was a bit sad for me…growing up too quick.
but talby did say while chomping on candy "this was the best halloween ever!"
* edited to add….lauren ended up getting grounded before her halloween party.
so we never got to see hannah montana in all her glory.
it was such a bummer.
IMG_8429
and now it's november.
happy birthday jenny.
love you super much.

traci - oh no, that’s what i was going to ask, where’s lauren? oops. well, the other kids look adorable. i agree with talby – the wig makes her more of a super girl. too cute. thanks for letting me live halloween through you and your children.

Rachel - Great pics…all the kids look awesome in their costumes!

danyele-a thorn among roses - what a great time…great costumes too! the weather was perfect here for the first time in years too! love those kiddos in costume…soooo much fun

Jen - gorgeous pics (as always).
β™₯Jen

MGF - I was wondering about Hannah Montana.
The black pumpkin is so fun.

Melissa - What great photos! I have been following your blog for a while as one of those pesky “lurkers”! Sorry! I finally decided to say hello! I’ve always been a little shy like that! πŸ™‚

Lorilee - Great costumes! OH, I wish we had fall leaves in those beautiful colors! We pretty much just have green and then brown!
Blessings,
Lorilee

Nichole - That’s so great! I dressed up as Supergirl this year, too! :] Mine was all home made…not too “adult-only” except for the skirt being shorter than I’m used to.
The weather seemed perfect! In usual Seattle fashion….it rained. :/

supermommy - What a beautiful post! Lovely pictures! Looks like you all had a great time.

meredith - Gorgeous photos! What fun for them all. Sorry, to hear about Lauren being grounded. Hang in there, I’m sure you’re doing an awesome job of equipping her for her future – even if she doesn’t see it that way right at this moment.

Michelle - I love love LOVE the last picture. What a fantastic capture of fall!

Amber - Great costume pictures. I love the jack-o-lanterns and porch as the background. Glad you and your family had a good Halloween. And yes, where is Hannah Montana? πŸ™‚

traci - First…I lOVE that you dont spend much money on Halloween. Second, your kids look FABULOUS!!!!! I literally laughed out loud at your story about grandpas dentures..HOW STINKIN FUNNY!!!
Where is Lauren and her Hannah costume???
As ALWAYS….fabulous pictures!!! You seriously could work for a magazine. They are just stunning.

Candice - You probably here this all the time but, do you have any tips for the everyday photographer. I have never taken a class or even thought about my lack of photography skills, but I was wondering if you had any tips. I love your photos and I want mine to look a little better. Help me! The kids look great, my son wouldnt even put a shirt on, just him on the porch in his underwear, I guess he went as Mogly from Jungle Book.

PamperingBeki - Yay Halloween!!
We went out after dark so all my pictures have the blurry glowy effect. We couldn’t have asked for better weather though! It was fabulous!
Super fun pics!!

Nancy - Great costumes. Great pics. And yes, it was a great night for trick-or-treating. So much more enjoyable for all when the weather is good. Enjoy the weekend.
(The pumpking that is shriveling made me think of the grandpa that took out his dentures.)

make art be happy

i kept saying this to myself in my head.

trying to will myself back to happy.
and it worked…for a few minutes.

IMG_8292
IMG_8291

it's funny to me after all those lovely sweet comments on the play room post…

i was having the crabbiest day i've had in a long time.
i skipped my bible study because i just could not bear the thought of being around people.
i would (should) have sent annie somewhere if i could.
poor baby kept saying "i'm sorry i did that mom…" all scared i was going to yell (again)
sigh.
i know it's hormonal.
i KNOW.
but it still sucks.

i was not nice to craig either.
no surprise there.
he's a saint to put up with mom-zilla.

so i stick with my motto.

Make Art BE Happy.

other things that occasionally work:
sunshine.
gratefulness.
coffee.
blog reading.
pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting.
baby-sitters.
prayer and bible reading.
bath tubs.
chocolate.
shopping.
movies.
michael scott and dwight.
house cleaners.
sleep.

am i forgetting anything?

answers to many playroom decor questions tomorrow.
thank you girls for ALL the compliments.
it was overwhelming.

traci - Make Art Be Happy…
I totally GET you! πŸ˜‰ Bookmarked your blog. Love it.

Jill - Fun photos!!

Deb - You are so FUN! Love this and the next two posts.

FiveCamels - I just found your blog and I LOVE it. Thank you for brightening my day!

Wendy - while you’re answering questions, i have one for you..where did you find the clock in your kitchen? i hope that’s not weird to ask, but i’ve been looking everywhere for one similar and haven’t been able to find it anywhere. thanks! πŸ™‚

traci - well, you and me both then. i had a crabby day too. hope your feeling better now.

jennifer - Oh, I so feel your day, and I’m sorry.
But on a positive note, I found YOU when I was having one of those days. Sitting in front of the Mac, sipping coffee and blog surfing.
Hope tomorrow is better. I’ll say a prayer for you.

kasey - grumpy days happen, life.
love the colors.

cynthia - i think we’ve all been there!
and sometimes it seems like an out of body experience…
glad things are looking up!

Jaime Melcher - I know the feeling. I’m in a bit of a funk myself. I hope you better today… trick or treat candy should cheer you (us) up! πŸ™‚

Rosemarie - Don’t be so hard on yourself – we all have days when we just can’t take it anymore. Where’s the Calgon!?! I’m a new reader – I’ll definitely be back.

danyele-a thorn among roses - so much fun! i love all the colors! we have been doing a little play dough thing…and it’s working for me too!

Kelly - just clicked on some of your happy things myself and realized that they’re not your old posts which is what I had thought before, but still maybe clicking through them or going back and reading some of your old posts?
Also, have I said or only thought that I really like your new pumpkin header? Kelly

Kelly - sorry about the day. πŸ™
I’ve been struggling with being grumpy at work this week πŸ™
I like the gratitude thing in your list. Also, before I read this post I noticed your “happy things” side bar. Maybe reading through some of those old posts? I like to read through old prayer journals and see where I’ve been before and where God has brought me. Blessings on your day! Kelly

Holly - May the joy you bring all your blog readers come back to you 10-fold.
We all have those bad days. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It makes the good days that much better. Loved your happy list. And…sometimes our kids just don’t hear us until we shout.
You are beautiful, inspiring, an awesome mom, super talented, caring, loving, energetic, a laundry folding super hero, and entirely accepted and loved by God. Chin up, Meg. It will get better. xoxoxoxoxo

Melissa - Some rocking gospel-choir music. Whole Wheat Apple Muffins. And knowing that your blog made a new reader’s day (mine). Thanks πŸ™‚

michelle my belle - LOVED your remodeled room! You’ve totally inspired me to TRY to do something new to my house.
I know the “hormonal”, I too have been having a hard time. Gained 5 lbs., pulled out of pretty much all church commitments. I think I’m finally seeing the “Lord’s” light at the end of the tunnel. I’ll be praying for you, it’s so frustrating being in a mood and not totally knowing “why”!
My daughter calls me “Mom-ster”. lol!
Have a good day Meg : )

Suzanne - your human, not perfect! always love how honest you are!
love the festive header!!
happy trick or treating!

Rebecca - Everyone has bad days. You probably just need a break from it all. Which is going to be hard to get. Considering the two major holidays are creeping up fast. But think of all of that decorating you get to do

Amanda - Man oh man have I had days like these recently. Its like the very things that I do…that I am… (mommy, wife, friend) were driving me crazy. I was more likely to snap then just respond. Although you list was very good (yum, cream cheese frosting…) I got the swift kick in the butt I needed from Beth Moore and James MacDonald. Was my focus on God to selfish? Was I jusr focused on waht God could do for me…not what i should be doing for Him?
Its was all perspective.
Many blessings-
Amanda

Rachel - We have our moments…and sometimes you just have to be…with yourself to clear your head and relax. The art looks great by the way…you are sooo creative!

Sandra - Just my guess. But maybe one of the reasons you got grumpy was thinking about having the respond to 104 comments! Wow! It’s a great room and deserves every one of those accolades, but I would be overwhelmed by that many comments! (I guess that’s why God has “spared” me from that — He knows I couldn’t handle it! πŸ™‚
I really do enjoy your blog, and you are usually very perky, so you are allowed a grumpy day once in a while. If it doesn’t rain once in a while, we can’t fully appreciate the sunshine!

crystal - Hope you have a better day today. I have major grumpy days and they are usually two days in that one special week every month – I try to control it the best I can but sometimes I can’t and I always end up in bed crying for the way I’ve acted. Guess it’s just another part of being a woman. Sucks.

sara - your blog always brightens my day, even if you are grumbly. i hope things are happier tomorrow! πŸ™‚

Leah - I still love you and your blog…even if your grumpy!

katie - congrats on all of those comments!
maybe next post a SNL parity of your grumpy art day:)

Sarah - pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing sounds heavenly! I also love your motto.

MGF - The splash of color really helped me.

PamperingBeki - test

PamperingBeki - I think pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing and coffee with a friend, while the kids are at a babysitter and your house is being cleaned, sitting in the sunshine, discussing your favorite blogs sounds like a great way to cheer up. πŸ™‚

it went pretty quickly last night.

scott was very distracted by the world series game.
and lauren wanted nothing to do with us.

i saw a book last week called Extreme Pumpkin Carving.
it was great….but a bit gory for kids.
and i found their website.
very original if nothing else.

the white ones glow all the way through!
so cool.

how can it already be the last week of october?
i have a super girl costume to make for talby
from a bunch of odd things from the thrift shop.
wish me luck!

jennifer - So fun! Now I might have to go out and get a white pumpkin. It looks so cool glowing like that. Who knew?!
Will and Grace, love and miss that show.

Becca - I’m not sure how I got here..to your blog that is. But I have spent the last 20 minutes reading your blog. I LOVE it..what a great family you have, all the laughter..and tears. Thanks for shareing..and i’ll be back for sure.
Becca

Lanny Stanard - Loving the new look! I still visit the wig post,it just keeps me laughing! I was talking to shawn the day of that post and she said to me did you see! that’s all she had to say!
Lanny…

Aby - They look great. So does the blog! Just Jack… Will and Grace!! LOVE that show!

Loving Mom 2 Boys - Too cute!! I love the pumpkins – they look so cute all lined up!!

Lorilee - Oh my, now I have to go and find a white pumpkin! I have had them, but I didn’t carve them! Now I HAVE to carve one to see the all over glow!
Blessings,
Lorilee

traci - will and grace. love jack!! the pumpkins are great!! we haven’t done that in years. it was never really my favorite thing to do anyway, so i really don’t miss it.

meredith - Am impressed beyond words. We, in Australia, don’t have a pumkin carving tradition and I’m sure we’d all end up in the ER with stab wounds. Would that qualify as “Extreme Carving”? How clever you all are!

Suzanne - we’re doing our annual family carving tomorrow night, but it is TOTALLY all Daddy!! i just take pictures & do the seeds for snacking!
yours look awesome!

Liz - You know… I think I may carve a pumpkin this year. I havent in years.

Tonya - Oh, I miss that show. Thanks for bringing it back for just a minute.
Love the hungry pumpkins!

Kelly - They turned out so great! Very fun!

Jen H. - Will & Grace! LOL
The pumpkins look awesome! We did a pumpkin “snowman” this year – three stacked in order from largest to smallest, with the top one carved with a face. Leafy branches as arms on the middle one. I still have to find him a hat, then I’ll take a picture.

Aubrey - They look great–maybe I’ll have to go carve our white pumpkin now.

PamperingBeki - We squirved our pumpkins last night too and I just did pictures.
I’m so glad we don’t have to do that very often.
Did you see my dog jump out and run away at the school yesterday? Completely embarassing! We caught him at the middle school after about 15 minutes of chasing.

Amanda - Love it. They are adorable. I have never carved pumpkins with my kids. But they are 2 and 3 so I still got time right?
Many blessings-
Amanda

Lisa - Wow 6 pumpkins! They all look so great.
take care,
Lisa

robin bird - ok. i came here 10 minutes ago just to look at the banner and do the holding your hands up like an artist’s frame to check out the font positioning and what the heck i used last time. and i got trapped here…. by all your funny family pictures, annie crying her eyes out while you take her picture, you singing in a platinum blond wig, mountains of laundry and your pilgrimage into fabric heaven. oh and scott looking adorable in a wig.
you are a consummate prototype of an amazing woman blogging the everyday of family life. that should be your next book..ummm……i can’t think of a catchy title right now i have a font job to get back to…. later gator.

Rachel - They turned out great!
