i want……

a mani/pedi.
really bad.

IMG_0232-1

but instead of spending $45 on that….
i bought $10 worth of  fun colors to do my nails myself.

not the same.
but still pretty good.
IMG_0234-2

IMG_0302-1-2

i used the fuchsia and two layers of that goopy blue glitter.
i actually like the glitter because it makes your toe nails nearly indestructible because it dries so hard.
it takes awhile to get off later but i don't mind.

this polish is $1.99 at target.
and i like it.
a lot.

and not to be ridiculously repeating myself…..

look who photo bombed my picture.

annie cannot resist him when he is around.
he loves the attention.
and the ham.
🙂

Ashley - That’s my FAVORITE polish brand. For two bucks it lasts a decent amount of time. Especially the indestructible glitter.

Breeanna @ a brilliant melody - Love these colors! I just painted my finger nails bright yellow and my toe nails with glitter nail polish. I actually blogged about it too this morning 🙂

Jemm - Love the colors. You’ll have to model the yellow too. I’d like to see it on. It always catches my eye but I’ve never purchased it.
He is YOURS YOURS YOURS!! ;P

Leigh - @Kristin Bommer- make sure you use a base coat- it will take away the yellow tint on your nails afterward. Reds do the same to my toes.
MEG- I have never, ever, ever…liked colors other than light pinks, hot pinks or red on toes OR glitter but your toes are CUTE. I want to paint my toes glittery tomorrow!

Kristin Bommer - I buy that nail polish at walgreen’s sometimes! I really like the colors, but my only beef is that the more yellow+green colors make your nails stain yellow for a while after you take it off 🙁 but still cute 🙂 🙂 🙂

Michele - Fun colors! It’s usually my kids who get in my photos for blog stuff. You’ll see a litte hand or foot in the corner.

Jen@thecottagenest - You have totally inspired me to stock up on cheery nail polish. Also, orange cats are the best. I speak from experience.

tara - he seriously loves the attention.
look at the last photo with his nose up in the air….
it’s like he’s telling her, “yeah…a little more to the right, uh huh, now to the left…yeah, don’t you feel lucky that I came for a rub!”
cats are silly.
love the nail colors, too.
love a pedi but I opted for the DIY kind today, too.

Leadia Jarvis - I just got those same flip flops this week – 50% off 😉 Love em. I do the glitter overlay too – total pain to get off, but the pedi lasts forever.

kate - Ohhh loving the glitter!

Elizabeth Ann - I’m headed to Target right now, think I’ll have to get some of that polish! Thanks!

Vicki - I was showing the last few kitty pictures to my 2 (almost 3) year old, and she said “I love that kitty. and I love Annie. She’s my friend.”
I think you should just do one toe in each color! so pretty…

Kimberly Dial - Meg, I think ‘Tiger’ (aka ‘Sunshine’) considers your house his vacation spot. You know, where he gets pampered & well fed! LOL I’m with you on the mani/pedi … I love to go get pampered but I’m not a fan of the cost. Thanks for sharing the tip on glittery toes … I may try that, especially if it makes the polish last longer 🙂

Amy Lynne - He seriously looks like he is smiling in the last picture! Love it!

Joanna - Awww I love YOUR new cat!

Julia - I once kept glitter polish on my toes for six weeks. And it was still a pain to take off.

beth - He has such a lion-looking face!

Theresa Navis - You are awesome…I wish you lived in Temecula. California…we
would be fast friends for sure. Any advice on my next study should be. I am just
Finishing my first women’s bible study on Jonah. I admire you and all you do and if you are ever in SD again we should meet. Bless you and all you do to glorify HIM!

Tonya - The look on Tiger’s face so totally says “I’m home”.

Janine - You are just going to have to admit it. That is YOUR cat!! You’ll see. Cats sometimes adopt you instead of you adopting a cat.

Candy - he looks just like kitty kitty that just “appeared” on Pioneer Woman’s door step!

Connie - ok, so I am getting attached to the cat and he doesn’t even visit me! Love the nails, I just did a Neapolitan one on myself!

MichelleB - Oh me too! My toes are very sorry looking right now. I hate paying the price for a pedi. Good tip with the glitter polish! You must have been reading my mind because on my list tonight was to do my toes. I even have a bubbly foot soaking thing. Your toes look very pretty!

Terrie G - My daughter & I had mani/pedis last week together before leaving on vacation….it had been 2 years since my last one. I re-did my nails during vaca…liked the colors much better than the selection from the salon. I’m sure after being on the beach for 5 days…I need another pedi! Your toe color was about the color of my nails before…very pretty! I went with hot pink nails & bright green/glitter toes! Much more beachy!

Christine - Love the color combination you chose! Love the sandals, too. Where did you get them? Tiger may not be YOUR cat. But you are HIS family. 🙂 I’ve had several of those myself. One was pregnant with five kittens when she found me.

Lisa H. - I’ve only had a professional pedicure twice, but I’ve been so much more satisfied with my own work ever since a cosmetologist told me to use a good base coat and top coat. Professional or amateur, I LOVE pedicures!

Ali - I love your polish combination! So cute! I think I’ll treat myself to a cheap pedi! Thank you for the creative formula! Can’t wait to try it!
~ Ali

Jodi @ The Un-Soccermom Blog - LOVE the polish! I’ve never had a mani-pedi. I’m not fond of how those places smell…
The cat is really smiling! haha

Charlotte - your nails look great!
i bet annie wants you to do her’s too!
i love that color combo/layers..my daughter & I use it often too!

Charlotte - i am not a “cat person”, but he is indeed a beautiful cat…he looks so happy! …cause he’s hanging out at home…yes, i do believe he thinks he belongs at your house…. 🙂

Jessica T. - I’m loveing the colors so fun….I think I need to do a Target run to scoop up some nailpolish.

Kirsten P - You (or Annie) could give Sunshine/Tiger and Waffle a pawpedi. I saw similar colors of polish for cats and dogs at Pet Supplies “Plus” yesterday.

Nichole - You have access to so much cool stuff. We don’t have a target here, and the cheapest nail polish I have been able to find here has been around $5. This is what happens when you live an hour from an actual city.
Sunshine is adorable. Of course he’ll keep coming around, cats do that when you feed them 🙂

Charlene@Adventures In Mommy Land - I would love a mani/pedi too….luckily my oldest daughter doesn’t mind having my feet in her face and she will do all kinds of fun stuff on my toes (and fingers too). LOL!
What a really need now is a cut and color!
Why do we moms, always think it’s too expensive to treat ourselves to the “fun” stuff?

alicia @ la famille - your pedi looks adorable! i would never think to use the blue goopy glitter, but it looks really good! i want a pedi really bad too…maybe i should get some goopy glitter 🙂

Amanda - i love a mani/pedi at the salon too. But almost always save the cash and do it myself. It looks just as good, really.
Yours looks awesome. I’ve been wanting to try the glitter. looks professional and sparkly!

Karen Gerstenberger - My toes are almost that exact color. I did it with OPI and Sephora colors. Not quite as inexpensive as yours, but they do last a long time!

melissa@theshabbyarmchick.blopspot.com - amen to the mani/pedi! i agree the sparkleis hard to get ff but so pretty it makes me smile.

karen - i have been wearing a sparkly greeny gold all summer…inspired by your pink sparkle polish you bought several weeks ago!
Sunshine..or Tiger..(i think sunshine suits him better) is so majestic. i love that kitty!!

Ashlyn@Pinecone - The last picture kills me…my cats make that face all the time – chin in the air “of course you love me, I’m so special!”
I never spend the money on my nails either…love the colors! We just got some nail glitter at Sephora yesterday. xo

shannon - I think that cat wants her nails painted too!
Love those bright Summer colors, your nails look pretty 🙂

Sarah - I have a taby cat that looks like of like your adopted friend and she is the sweetest most loving cat ever. I think its an orange cat thing – no joke!

Annika - Love your nails and the colours you chose! A girl can never have too much nail polish!

deborah@applesinwonderland - Aw….your new ginge kitty is darling. He seems to be adjusting to you just fine. 😉

Danielle H. - Okay, where in the world do you pay $45 for a pedi/mani? I can get a good mani/pedi combo – and I mean not at the sleazy, uncertain if they ever sanitize the whirlpool place- for around $30.00. They even do the hot stones. Maybe I’m just lucky to have such a good place around the corner for cheap? Love, love your colors!

Emily Langston - I splurged last week and got a pedi… it chipped the very next day! Only my 2nd ever.. but I’m telling ya… never doing it again. My bucket of oil wash, pumice stone and I do just fine!

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Love your kitty that’s not your kitty 🙂

Gemma - I completely agree! Why do it at a salon when you can do it yourself AND keep the polish!
Love that cat : )
Gemma xXxx

Rachel J - Megalicious! 🙂 I love the polish choices. And WHERE did you get those adorable sandals?! I’m so surprised your fashionista fans haven’t asked that yet? Please tell us! Have a happy friday!

Heather - He may not be “your cat” but he has definitely claimed you as “his people.”

betsy - I bought a bottle of silver glitter nail polish for fun. When I was testing it out, I put it on just one finger nail. My two year old niece saw me and gravitated towards the sparkle. She said, “I want that on me!”
I tried, but her teeny, tiny toenails wouldn’t keep the sparkle on. I told her we’d have to wail until she got a little bit bigger. Instead, she got a mixture of two fun pinks! 🙂

Jennifer - Yep…I think he’s found his forever family. 🙂

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Ok, first of all, I think he might be your cat. 🙂
Secondly, you totally have to come to Phoenix…. great pedicure = $18

Christie - Love the colors!! Fun!

Megan - How does Waffle feel about your new cat?

Dawn - I love that cat. You should soooo keep him.

Carrie - Love the colors he may not be your cat but I think he has pick ya’ll as his family so cute

Sophie - But he’s still totally NOT your cat, right? 😉

happygirl - I think you have such a cute cat. Haha. Love the pedi. I need one, too. 🙂

Sharla - I wish we had an “outside” cat that would just stick around our house . . .without actually GETTING a cat and feeling responsible for it all the time 🙂

Cyndi Hamilton - What a sweet Kitty, did he ever find a home? If not, we are looking for another cat. I need to get a pedicure too, I hate spending the money on it. Pretty nail colors I will have to check them out when I am at Target next.
Thanks for sharing,
Cyndi
http://mycharmedlife-cyndi.blogspot.com/

Ashley - Sweet kitty!! And those polish colors are sweet! I got the hot pink, but a pedi with new colors may definitely be in order!

Libby - Look how interested the kitty is in what you’re doing…you have to keep him!

Sara - I love the nail polish colors!!!! I need a manicure too!!! Also where are your sandals from, sooooo cute!!!!!! Sara

julie - Now, I know that’s not YOUR cat… but you have to admit it has an amazing face. And eyes that are a little bit human…

Holly - I love the cat! You should keep him! Oh and your nails are cute too! haha!

one more chance…..

if you didn't get a ticket to BLOG SUGAR and you have been kicking yourself….
there is ONE DAY LEFT.

they re-opened registration today until MIDNIGHT.
go get a ticket.

GO read this post!
i loved it.
that is EXACTLY how i feel and i am speaking!

it is HARD to step out and go somewhere new.
especially if you don't have friends with you.

but i am so glad i am going.
and i hope you are coming too.
with or with out friends.

i can't wait to meet YOU!

Melissa - Meg, thank you for linking to my post! 🙂 It makes it so much easier to admit that most of us have these fears and apprehensions. If you know other people have the same feelings, you don’t feel so alone in it. 🙂 I am so excited to hear you speak and can’t wait to meet you!

Kate - I’m going alone as well…and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one! It’s going to be a great experience, but I certainly am nervous!

Janene - I’m going ALONE too–can’t wait to see what the day has in store!!

because love is a lifestyle - I so feel the same away. I am going alone too! I am not an outgoing person… I am going way out of comfort zone! I think it will be worth it though!

Mindy Harris - meg i am so excited to get to go this year and be a swag bag sponsor and hear you speak!

Laura Phelps - I wish I could go…was totally planning on it..but I heard another calling…I am the new third grade religious ed teacher next fall, and a mandatory teacher meeting is blog sugar weekend 🙁
have so much fun…I will be praying for you and wishing I were there!

Tessa - this is totally off topic … but did you know you are in the latest (July 2011) Parenting magazine? I was sitting in the doctor’s office reading it and was excited to see your “Summer List” idea mentioned in a short little snippet with credit to you. You probably already know this, but I didn’t recall you mentioning it here – so I thought I should give you a heads up! Very cool!

Michelle - is anyone willing to share the cost of a room?

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - I have my ticket and I’m going…A L O N E !!! way out of my comfort zone! YIPES! I am excited to hear you and the other speakers. I kind of keep wondering why I decided to go ahead and go by myself, so not the kind of thing I do. Maybe being 50 years old I figure I should be able to do things like this by myself, but I still feel like a little kid having to go alone! I hope it’s a good thing!

This Farm Family's Life - Wish I could go, but I can’t! You will do a fabulous job. I can’t wait to hear all about it!!

I pinned it. http://www.pinterest.com/HomePartiesLife
are YOU on pinterest – i’d love to see the boards you’d curate!!!

Maureen S - Meg, every time you post that Pillows for Davis photo (the one with the pillows and chalkboard) I zero in on that crocheted blanket in the back. While the pillows are awesome and the chalkboard is totally cute…I get all giddy over that blanket. Can you tell me more about it? Did you make it? Was is a gift? I just need a pattern or a name or something. Gimme something to work with. It makes me happy. 🙂

elisa - the scrunchy face one is my fave!!1

Cameron - …if you think the ‘baby fever’ is hard, just imagine struggling w/infertility for +2 years… just saying
you are so blessed to have the beautiful children that you have. i know you know that though!

Martina - Oh my goodness! The expressions! I love the colors and textures of the fabric & chairs pics too.

Christen - Such a cutie and I know you said your hubby wasn’t on board with the thought of adopting but have you ever thought of fostering, you can foster sweet newborns who need a loving home before they find their forever home. ( and I encourage you to continue to pray quietly if adopting is really on your heart, God changes hearts and ideas and has changed many through a quiet prayerful wife 🙂 )

Staci - Oh me oh my!!! He IS precious!! And I don’t have baby -fever at all!!!!!!!!! Great pics Megan!!!!

hannah - beautiful photos, love me some sweet babies! xo

Bethany @ 3SonsPlus1...&... - So beautiful!! I know you say Mr. D is not in favor of adopting right now, but things change and hearts soften… 🙂 Praying for you!!

Bethany @ 3SonsPlus1...&... - So beautiful!! I know you say Mr. D is not in favor of adopting right now, but things change and hearts soften… 🙂 Praying for you!!

Kimberly Dial - He is precious indeed. Your pictures are always so beautiful.

Kimberly Dial - He is precious indeed. Your pictures are always so beautiful.

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - Noooo. I am having baby fever too! This post isn’t helping me either! SO.DARN.CUTE!!
Where did you get that rainbow chevron fabric?

Kathy Eller - Babies are thee coolest thing ever. An amaqzing amazing miracle. Only God can create life. How could we NOT want a part in that.

Kelly - When I saw your post title I just knew it was going to be about babies. 🙂 Kelly

Andrea - Great. Now I want one again.

Rachel - I think these are some of the best newborn photos you have shared so far, great job!! That baby is sooooo handsome and squishy, love it!

Amy Slavik - I love all your fabrics! I have seriously considered hoarding fabric because the cheerful colors and fun patterns make me happy. If only I knew how to sew…

Sarah - Those pictures are amazing. You did SUCH a good job! A good job, also, at giving ME baby fever now!

carrie - oh my…i don’t have baby fever(9 month old) but these pics might of just done it!!! These are beautiful.

Terrie - Precious!! Makes me all anxious for my grandbaby to be born!!!

Jenna - beautiful pics, as usual!
Jenna

se7en - Oh look at all that crumpled newness… it goes so fast, how darling is that!!!!

Kerry - what a precious darling baby! love the lines on his face in the crying pic, stunning meg. xx

Mindy Harris - what a sweet, perfect baby.
i have baby fever too. but story is only 1 year old so we are trying to wait!

This Farm Family's Life - total sweetness! love them all. so glad it isn’t me deciding which pictures to print!

Chrissie grace - Oh my mercy…I want to scoop him right up:). I get baby fever too!

Necole - Oh my goodness, and brand new piece of heaven. I saw a baby with all the right chubb in the grocery store yesterday. I about died right there.

Lari - Oh so sweet and yummy. Wishing my niece & her new little one lived closer…I could stand a newborn snuggle about now.

Deborah - Oh my he is precious!! I’ve been reading your blog for forever now. I thought I’d finally come out of the woodwork and let you know that I totally understand your baby fever. The Engineer and I had numerous long discussions regarding another little one in our home, but I’ve been cured! The best thing we ever did was adopt three beautiful, bright, precious girls. They drive me crazy, but at the same time I can’t imagine life without them!
Blessings!
Deborah
P.S. Love your new header! That fabric is amazing!

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Oh, precious, precious, precious! These are so great!

shelly - Oh My Goodness—keep showing pictures like those and you’re going to have an epidemic of baby fever going on!!!! (I’ve already been given the “Lucy Look” and a definite No last week….until I caught him making funny faces at the baby in front of us at church…he’s not as tough as he thinks!)

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - He IS precious! Im very different in how I view babies. While I love them & think each and every one is a true miracle from our Creator, I was always glad when mine were old enough to be more independent. I just didnt enjoy the age of sleepless nights and having them in my arms all the time. Gosh, now I sound like a terrible person. I can assure you I Do love my kids:) But I was really happy when they were older and able to play with each other, feed themselves, etc…
Im a momma who enjoys the stage theyre in now. We can play together and have fun without me holding them 24/7. Ok Im done trying to justify my comments now:)
xo

Lisa - I have four kids and have baby fever all the time. I think I’ll never “feel” done even if its the right decision. Luckily my sister is having a baby in August. She’ll probably have to ask for her baby back! 🙂 And seriously those pictures are amazingly beautiful!

Holly - he is perfect! Great photos!

happygirl - Yes, he is perfect. So little. I should send my 24 year old still living in his room without a full-time job and never puts his dishes in the dishwasher over to your house. ‘Cause sometimes the cute ones grow up to be him. 🙂
