um….yeah…it was glamourous.

today was interesting.

not sure if i should share…. or just go to bed.

i took some baby pictures this morning which was wonderful because
1. i was FORCED to clean my kitchen really well
and
2. i got to snuggle a newborn baby that was absolutely perfect.

lovely.

i am almost done with the christmas decorating…i got out some glitter and glue today.
i was so smiley.
i WILL finish up tomorrow.

guess what next week is???

CHRISTMAS CRAFT WEEK!
our past two craft weeks are HERE.

i am planning it all out tomorrow….cute stuff coming.

this afternoon i went to walmart.
gotta love the walmart.
🙂
but today i had to go because i was out of paper towels and bleach.
i needed them because there was an…..incident….in the kids' bathroom during the night last night.
sleep walking? i don't know.

it looked like a crime scene.
except with….. poo.

i am not kidding.

and i needed paper towels because i STILL do not have a working washing machine.

i had to throw AWAY the shower curtains, a towel and a sock.
they were not salvagable.

and also…..the dog found this bathroom mess before i did.

G R O S S.

i now had the paper towels and bleach.
BUT i had to give the dog a bath first…. one of my least favorite jobs.
then after that i began on the bathroom.
i decided it was THE TOP of my least favorite jobs.

craig came home in the middle of that task and i said "i don't think i can make dinner….it's too much."

he agreed.
he took the kids to another ball game.
he asked me to go as i was standing in the bathtub fully clothed wearing purple latex gloves and holding a toilet brush and sponge.  my clothes were all wet from waffle's bath…because it's a full body experience.
i smiled and said "i'm too far gone at this point honey"

they left.

about 10 minutes later i hear a crash of glass.
i thought "is someone breaking in?"

i came down stairs and there was glass all over the kitchen floor.
THE DOG tried to get a turkey sandwich left on the counter and he knocked over the lid to my big glass jar.
i know this because the sandwich was halfway still there near the glass.

i yelled at him.
because i felt like it.

i cleaned it all up….this is the kitchen i already cleaned once today.

some days are great.
and some days you have to clean up poo off the walls.

put that on pinterest.
HA HA HA.

goodnight.
i think i will sleep like a  ROCK.

jess - bless your heart! man, this mom-job is glamorous!

crystalbeutler - I am laughing my head off. Poo days are thee absolute worst. My gag reflex gets so worn out. But on the bright side, It’s a great diet aid. I don’t feel like eating much after all that, do you?

Lisa - I agree with the previous Lisa . . . give us all your washing machine repair man and we’re gonna start a telephone campaign that will drive him absolutely crazy until he gets your machine running again!!! Love your blog every day!

Sarah - My stupid dog rolls in poop every single weekend and I have to give him a bath and I hate it as much as you do…even though he only weighs 6 pounds. You make me laugh.

Tami - Oh my gosh! I totally feel so sorry for you because I have days like that all the time. I have 5 kids too so they can’t be avoided but most of the time the good days outnumber the bad. Your blog is the highlight of my day because I can so easily relate. Thanks for making my day everyday.

Tiffany - you always find the right words. hope today is better, i’m sure it will be. cheers to a new day. pinterest thats, hahahaha

deborah@applesinwonderland - Sorry for your troubles. Our jobs as mommas are so glamourous. My fav line, “put that on pinterest”. LOL!!!! For realz.

Darcie - Wow! That rivals mine, and beats me I think, because yours involved poo and mine did not. (http://darcielantz.wordpress.com/2011/12/01/a-day-in-the-life/)
Ah, the life of moms. I love that you told Craig, “I can’t make dinner. It’s too much.” That’s what I feel like saying a lot of the time. Maybe I should just be direct like that. “It’s too much!”

Ann - Oh Meg…I had one of those poo crime scenes when my dog had bloody diarrhea in my kitchen. It was horrific. REALLY BAD. I thought she was going to die. But she lived. And I had to clean it up. And my husband was sooo thankful for me!!!

Melanie - This post is hilarious…but yet it’s not. Sorry! I’m glad that you’re one of those bloggers who post the real life stuff, too. 😉
Hope you get a good night’s sleep and that your house stays miraculously clean!

Heather - What, no pictures? 😉

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - UGH. All I can say is that I hope the rest of the weekend has been relaxing and 100% poo free for you!

Niki - Saw you in the Mpix ad in Popular Photography! I don’t know how long this has been going on or how much you’ve mentioned about it but it was a surprise to me! Felt like “hey I know her!” =)

becky - i had a day like that this week too. only my poo was from a 1 year old. in a bathtub. yay, poo! happy christmas craft week! can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - OH Meg, sweet, sweet dreams! I may have giggled at your post. Don’t me mad. Mkay?

Katherine @ Grass Stains - Soooo sorry about the poop! I know we’ve all had those days, and I suppose it’s sort of therapeutic to blog about it. It’s either laugh or cry most of the time … and hopefully most of the time we choose to laugh. 🙂 GREAT story that will be much funnier to you later.

Sharla - Craig was at a KSU game?! Oh, there is hope. JK!

beth - oh NO!! What a day! I truly hope tomorrow is MUCH better!

Mindy Harris - oh my! you poor thing. i saw craig from afar at the k-state game. 🙂 he is a celeb too. ha.

Candy - I think I need that on a plaque, “some days are great and some days you have clean poo off the walls”. We moms all have good poo stories and they all crack me up, even my own!! I was just reading your post to my husband and he was dying! Thanks for being so transparent and sharing your life with us, you always make me smile!

beth e. - Sounds like this could be the first page of a novel titled “Are you there god? It’s me Meg”
For anyone who was a Judy Bloom fan back in the day….
I am wishing you ALL THE LOVE in the world for your tremendously shocking day.
And no washer still…..HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??!! THAT’S CA-RAZY!

Toni :0) - Wow-that’s a crappy (sorry no pun intended there honestly) day and I’m sorry it was such a drag! I’m glad you shared real life with us-we all have those and those types of days make us appreciate the fabulous ones. Merry Christmas to you and your family-I heart your blog soooo much, I know I’ve told you that but I can’t help myself in telling you that-stay awesome! :0)

Brooke - Okaaay, you win.
I vow not to complain about my day because as you have just so clearly exemplified……it could have been worse.
If you’re still mad at Waffle, send him to me. I’m in love with him. 🙂

karen gerstenberger - You have my heartfelt compassion for a “crappy” day. I hope you slept like a rock and got to sleep in. May tomorrow be much sweeter, cleaner and nicer for you!

Elma - Oh what a day!!! Sometime it just sucks to be a mom and all the gross things we have to do:) Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!! ( go buy a new wash machine)

Courtney - LOL, I love you and your crazy family, and your crazy normal life! I agree with the commenter above – this is why I read your blog! It’s so real, and sureal all at the same time!
Officially, I’d also like to add if you made one of your beautiful prints for your etsy shop this year to read “some days are great.
and some days you have to clean up poo off the walls.” I would totally buy it – several copies actually for myself and gifts for family and friends, because it’s so hillariously true! I also know you would take it one step further into awesome but putting the text over and awesome cheery background like rainbows of crayons or candy, or your pretty pretty flower pictures hehe!

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Meg as weird as it sounds, this is why I read your blog, because we all have days full of poo…heehee.

Lisa - OH. MY. WORD.
That is seriously crazy – I love you for sharing!
You are an amazing blogger!
Love Love Love WHATEVER!!!!!
poo
really?!
poo!
Good Grief, Charlie Brown!
you need to give us (all) the number of your appliance repair man!!!
haha!
we could get that rollin’ for ya!
haha
wouldn’t that be something?!
oh man!
ha

tara - bad day at your house BUT you got fifty comments on your blog for talking about it.
and that makes you a rockstar.
sleep tight and sleep hard!
thank God, it’ll be a new day tomorrow…and hopefully without poop.

Lisa - Well that takes the cake! But thanks for making the rest of us feel human.

Amanda Fuentes - Can I just say how happy I am there were NO PHOTOS in this post… LOL

Elisabeth F - Reminds me of the quote:
Some days you’re the pigeon,
Some days you’re the statue.
Sorry you had a statue day!!!

Andrea @ Big Creek Cottage - Meg……thanks for keeping it real…..poo….glass….messes….a mother’s work is never done……Happy HOlidays!

Kate - Were you like Nancy Poo trying to solve the hiney-ous crime? (Nancy Drew trying to solve the heinous crime…get it, get it?) baaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha! I just cracked myself up. Thank you for sharing…aint Motherhood grand?

alaina - For the love of pete!!!!!!!!!! I seriously almost started bawling over this post. I “feel” your pain! Oh Meg, you’re a rock star….just sayin!

Cindy - You CRACK me UP!!!

Elle - May I suggest a field trip to the laundromat??? I’ve only been in college but they aren’t that bad. Have the kids sort their dirty clothes first. If each kid goes and does their own loads, you’ll have clean clothes in no time.
Then you can go have burgers and fries somewhere special.

Aby - you’re a much better woman than me Meg. I think I would have to move. Or at least I’d want to!! I’m sure today will be better!

Jenn A. - oh man. I have to admit, all I could think was, thank God your shower’s still working! Because after all that, I think I would have to stand in the shower until all of the hot water was gone. My days of up close and personal poo experiences are just beginning as I am due with our first babe in the beginning of March. I hope today is better!

Lisa - Oh my, I am so sorry for that craziness. Yuck! But I do what to say thank you for sharing this type of stuff. I think sometimes I feel like we are the only family that has so much crazy going on… these kind of posts make me relax more and realize all of us mom’s (parents) are in this together! Hoping today is better for you!

Kerstie - Some days are like shoveling you know what against the tide. AND, that REALLY happened for you!!!
So so so sorry!

Jessica R. - Thank you, thank you for keeping it real. And thank you for keeping your sense of humor (at least after the fact!) The icing on the cake was “put that on pinterest.” Awesome 🙂

Tracy - Oh my word…the things we have to do as mothers! Bless your heart!

Kacey - Ack! How awful! Really funny to read, but I’m sure not funny to experience. Your weekend HAS to be fabulous!

janet @ ordinary mom - OMG! I feel so much for you. Isn’t it always the way that when something like that happens, a bunch of other craziness happens too. But I have to said I laughed out loud (literally not LOL-ing) when you said “put that on pinterest.” Glad to see you kept your humour. Some days it is all we have.

kristine cline - Keepin’ it real sister! Hallalujah! Amen!

Leslie Davison - Oh my gosh! I’ve had jobs like those…4 kids brings you all kinds of stories.

jackie grandy - So sorry Meg. That is the one thing I hate as well, cleaning up poo, throw-up and blood. It’s just plain gross. I wish there was a service that could come out on a whim and take care of those messes. I could never be a nurse.
I hope today is a better day for you and you get some much needed pampering.
xoxo,
Jackie

Terrie - Been there…..done that.
I think I’d ‘repin’ that one!
Hope today is better!
Can’t wait for all those crafts!
I’ll be in mine too…hopefully creating something cute!

Gina Mitchell - You are my all time favorite blogger! I am sorry about the rough day, but you sure know how to turn everything into a great read!

Kelly - Put that on pinterest!!!!! Ah ha ha ha ha! Love it! Kelly

Jenny B. - Oh, that is TERRIBLE! None of the kids would claim the scene? Are they blaming the dog? CRRRAZY!!! Maybe it was Ashley Ann’s elf on the shelf… you know, Mr. Tinkles Poopsalot? 🙂

Ani G W - You made me LOL. The Pinterest comment got me. Sorry you had a poo-filled day. I hope today is better!

April M - you rock even though your day soooo didn’t.
i have to go do laundry now
and now i can do it w a grateful heart
bc it’s not “poo-crime-scene” related
and bc my washer works
(pray yours does too immediately amen)
p.s. I love your photos but I’m so glad this post didn’t come with pictures 😉

Jenna@CallHerHappy - Meg! Thanks for sharing this 🙂 Out of your poopy day you reminded us that, yes, sometimes you have to clean poop off the walls! A good thing for everyone to keep in mind!
Jenna
callherhappy.com

Kelly - Yuck. I hate days like that. Not that I’ve had a day exactly like that but days where you can’t imagine one more stupid thing happening…and then it does.
And you know someone really will put that on Pinterest now right? 🙂

Sandy - Meg, I am excited to see what you are doing for craft week. I tried this last year and it was great! 2 of my kids have already asked about WHEN we are doing crafts. I’ve been putting it off because I like to cheat off of you. You are inspirational to me. I love reading about your daily life!

Lynnette Ross - This makes me feel so much better. Sounds evil but my number 2 is always up to something and sometimes it’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has days like this! Love your blog.

tiffany gardner - ahhh…i only laugh because oddly enough…i have had that same day in my life too. (not yesterday..but with kids and a dog..it has happened several times.) sleep…my favorite blog girl…sleep! xoxo

Michelle - I love you Meg! That’s all. xo

Sandy - sending you lots of hugs!! some days huh! sweet dreams!

Randi - Gross, gross, gross. But your comment about “put that on Pinterest” just cracked me up. Motherhood is not glamorous.

Emily - Oh no! Hope today is better for you! By the way, at least you made me smile. LOVE your last sentence…so very, very true.

Holly - oh yikes! Got to love those days!

Susan - Meg..I love your blog for SO many reasons…your keeping it real …..makes me love it even more! Merry Christmas!

Southern Gal - Oh, and I’m sorry about your cleaning duty. Sounds like more than I could have handled.

Southern Gal - Love your craft week posts. Have you seen this Ruffled Christmas Tree?
http://sewmuchado.blogspot.com/2011/12/ruffled-christmas-tree-tutorial.html
I can see you making this with wonderful rainbow colored fabrics!

Sandy - Oh that sounds just terrible. I’m sorry you had to go through all of that but the good news is … TODAY WILL BE BETTER! 🙂

Meredith@count it all joy - The Glamour. You are just living the dream baby. Some days are diamonds, some days are….not so much. I can imagine you had the best hot bath EVER afterwards. Happy crafting. Meredy xo

amy - …just think of how many “life points” you earned! 🙂 I always try to wake up and reflect on the verse “This is the day which the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.”…..I’m sure that when I’ve recited that on a “poo day” (and I’ve had’em too), the good Lord is like, “Yeah, we’ll see how you feel about that in about 8 hours….” Tomorrow will be better. 🙂

Tanya H - Well, I have decided that a- today was a pretty lousy day for most of us, and b- you win. Tomorrow WILL be better than that!!

Rebecca - ugh! that’s pootastic!
but the pinterest comment made me laugh!

Tracy Fisher - It’s after 11:00pm… I am up… alone… finishing up Christmas orders…and I am exhausted…. and this is soooo what I needed. I will laugh and smile myself to sleep. Great story. Maybe I’ll have to paint that quote… I get it even though it was you it happened to. Mother’s just get it.
Sweet dreams. Tracy Fisher

Leah - That sucks, Meg. Isn’t the case when you finally feel like you’ll never have to clean up kid and animal pee and poo off the floor, it just starts happening all over again! We seem to be going through something similar. What the heck? … And so excited for Christmas Craft Week. I was about to ask if you’re doing that again this year. Can’t wait!

Jennifer - What a day! You definitely sound like you deserve some rest tonight…hope tomorrow is less stressful for you. Enjoy the zzzz’s…
Hugs!

brooke - girl….a day like that earns you an afternoon at Healing Waters…or at least the seedy pedicure place down town 🙂
praying tomorrow is less poopy

hannah singer - oh my heck. sending you a hug. also laughing.
much love to you and prayers for sweet, rock-like rest!
and a poo free weekend, of course.
xo

Mindy W - Ha! Totally real life. Hope your machine gets fixed- I would be going bonkers. Hold on. Heads up, girl!

Johanna - [cyber hugs] & thanks for sharing:) your glamorous day made me smile, sweet dreams… may there be no more poo or sandwich thieving but a fixed washing machine immediately, amen!

kind of a lot of junk….

my washer broke (AGAIN) last friday.
it won't be repaired until NEXT thursday

my laptop has been unusable since saturday.

i have been feeling VERY out of my element without it.
and i may have cried.
i miss it.

i have pics of the africa shirts i made….but i can't load them anywhere so they won't be for sale tomorrow because i can't send them.

(don't forget to shop the Water4Christmas etsy shop on friday)

i have pictures of a lovely thanksgiving but it will be later that you get to see those too.

i brought 8 baskets of laundry to my moms for thanksgiving.

i did them all.

the toilet overflowed twice since we've been here.

my grandma fell this morning without her life alert necklace on.
she said "my first thought was "i've fallen and i can't get up!"
she snorts when she laughs.
she definitely snorted.

i ate too many sweet potatoes today.

i am going to bed now.
i am getting up for black friday.
at 6 AM…not 4.
old navy, target and whatever else that looks like fun.

with a non-fat-sugar-free-peppermint latte in my hand.

good night.

sorry this is the most boring post ever.
🙂

are you shopping for any special deals tomorrow?

(p.s. erin condren is 50% on friday….)

Wendy - I too am washing machineless ;(
My big laptop needs a new battery & charger … so I’ve been squinting on a little teenie tiny netbook.
Fortunately my toilet has not overflowed … but our water heater went & we’re still drying out the basement carpet.
We are lucky to have such minimal troubles. My little girls are fed & healthy — so life is good 🙂

Lori Austin - Not boring…we love you pics or not. 🙂
So sorry about the washing machine and computer. Booo! I grew up without a washer/dryer in my house and have NO idea how my mom didn’t go insane. Laundry mat every Saturday…uggh.
I am SO thankful for that convenience in my home.
Black Friday was a little sad for me this year. I’ve been shopping with my bff for the past 10 years, but she had surgery last week and couldn’t go out. Not as much fun when you don’t have your friend to stand in line with, drink lattes with and talk and talk about the great deal you just scored. We did have lunch together though – that made me smile.
Have a great weekend!!

Bobbie - never boring! I came and dropped the family off at my inlaws for the night and then went shopping until 3 am, crashed on their couch for two hours and then went back out to get the cheap rug at Home Depot that I wanted. The sad thing is that when I went back out with my husband to grab something this afternoon they had almost the same stuff still at Target. It’s ok, the chase is part of the fun!

tiffany gardner - i went this morning at 6 a.m. too. it rocked. target still had everything that was on my list. sorry about your washer. that is bad news for a family of seven. hope the latte helped. 🙂

karen - Meg, I just went through your HomeSweetHome. Those are some great shots! I love your style. I swear looking at them put me in a better mood.

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - Not boring Meg, still love your blog. We love our technology don’t we? No washing machine is really tragic. Can you imagine it really wasn’t that long ago that mommies didn’t have washing machines?….Yipes! Just to make me sound really old, I remember when we got our very first dryer! Hope your shopping was fun. I am still in my jammies and NOT going shopping 🙂 Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.

Holly - boo on the washing machine and laptop! I hope you get them fixed soon! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving!

michelle - My dishwasher is on the fritz…blah for not worthy appliances. 🙁 I would cry too without my computer … just so you know. 🙂
I stayed up ALL night last night. I didn’t go to bed until 6am…ironically when you were getting UP! Walmart was pretty much vomitous. I watched people practically kill each other over a trampoline. Also watched a little boy get knocked down. Disgusting. Target, however, was wonderful – good, friendly crowds, no chaos, helpful employees…this why I love them dearly. I then spent the remainder of the evening sitting outside of Sports Authority trying to win an awesome scratch off gift card. First 80 people in line got them. I was number 12. I got $10. lol! Oh well…had fun with the masses & it gives me an excuse to drink more coffee today! 🙂 Hope your weekend is SUHWEET! 🙂

TinaM. - lol, we live very similar lives. good to know I’m not the only one.

Colleen - Our dishwasher has been broken for a month – it broke right when two of our friends moved in with us while their house is being built!! Yeah, I cried as well.

Amy Lynne - I hope your stuff gets fixed soon! Have fun shopping…I don’t think I’m brave enough for that!

Dawn - Oh NO! Washing machine interruptions are the WORST!
Followed by computer glitches. OY!
I am heading out to shop. Leaving soon.
Want the flannel deals at JoAnns. I make pillowcases for my grands every year. Fun ones.
Stocking up, you know?
happy shopping!
D

Mae - Sounds like an exhausting week!! Enjoy yourself tomorrow!

Leah - Happy Thanksgiving, Meg! Thanks for always brightening my day with your blog (even if pictures aren’t present).

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - Even without pictures, I still love your blog. 🙂 Hope your laptop and washer get fixed SOON! A Mom just can’t survive without either of those things, in my opinion. 🙂
No BF shopping for me this year.. What are you getting?

Seriously Sassy Mama - I went to walmart to see what a Black Friday was like. I was there at 10 pm, and the parking lot was full. I was completely appalled at the behavior of the majority of the people. i was getting a barbie for my daughter and a lady asked if they were on sale. i said no, and she laughed at me. Really? My sister and I went to Ihop and had a blast. I bought the majority of my gifts on amazon right there eating eggs and drinking coffee.

Ellen J - I snort when I laugh too!!!
That’s all. 🙂

Terrie G - I may have just shed a tear because you can’t upload your pics of your africa shirts…
So excited to make what I donated for water4christmas!!
Such a cool project!
HaPpY ThAnKsGiVinG…and happy shopping!

turkey!

do you like to cook dinner?
or is it your least favorite job as a mom?

i remember sitting at a home kitchen party and hearing the women around me complaining about how much they hate to cook, and that's when i realized i did not.
i liked it.
i like cooking for my family.
it really does make me happy.

BlogHer asked if i would try out a recipe from Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise and Bobby Flay.
of course the answer was yes.

i read the recipe and thought "hmm… i don't think i have ever cooked with mayonnaise. how can that be?"
and "what are turkey cutlets?"

now i was on a mission:
find turkey cutlets and see what it's like to cook with mayonnaise.

IMG_8501-15

i found the cutlets.
they have probably always been there, but i had never heard of them.

and i grabbed the Hellmann's and got busy.

IMG_8500-14

IMG_8497-13

i mixed the mayonnaise and mustard and seasoning together with a whisk.

IMG_8503-16

then brushed both sides of the cutlets with the mixture.

IMG_8504-17

next, i dipped the turkey into a bowl of bread crumbs and seasonings.

IMG_8505-18

i made sure it was completely coated.

IMG_8507-19

then in my skillet with heated canola oil, i added the turkey.

i cooked it for 3 minutes on one side and then flipped it for another 2-4 minutes, until it was crispy & cooked all the way through.

IMG_8510-21

oh my goodness…my kitchen was smelling SO GOOD at this point.
that is something i love about cooking too,
filling the house with the smell of our favorite foods.
i love hearing my kids walk in and sniff and say "ARE WE HAVING LASAGNA??!!" with a big smile.

while the turkey was cooking, i started on some potatoes.

IMG_8513-24

IMG_8508-20

and some asparagus on the inside grill on my cooktop.
just recently my friend taught me how to make it this way…i am so grateful.
YUMMMMM.

IMG_8512-23

and in 15 minutes…this meal was ready.
i couldn't believe it.

IMG_8517-25

i tasted the turkey…a bit unsure since i had never had it before. (i have had turkey, just not turkey cutlets.)

Hellmann's Mayonnaise made the turkey juicy and crispy!
it was seriously good.

IMG_8519-26

this recipe is EASILY a new family favorite.

Annie - yum! that looks SOOO good. Our families favorite turkey dish, is turkey and homemade noodles with a gravy/sauce served over left over mashed potatoes!

Kristin Hayne - Oh my!! Wll have to try this!!
My favorite thing turkey is:
Turkey Lettuce Wraps:
Brown ground turkey with a little ginger and garlic….

1-2 tsp soy sauce
3-4 TBSP of hoisin sauce….
Stir and serve hot
Serve in lettuce (iceberg or romaine)

Joleen - I’m not a big turkey person, but this sounds great! I usually use it on sandwiches.

me - my mother in law makes turkey salad for sandwiches! Mmmmmm.

Karen - A different take on the day after turkey sandwich.
Open faced turkey sandwich: Layer sweet bread or rolls from dinner the night before (I truly miss waking up Thanksgiving day hearing my Mom shuffling around in the kitchen, making her own recipe rolls for the family), turkey cutlets as prepared above, dollop of mashed potatoes and a swirl of lovely, velvety gravy. Cranberry sauce on the side to taste.
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It was often the only time we could get the whole family together. I miss the tradition and the coziness of it. I was raised in Alaska and there was always a chance we would be snowed in on Thanksgiving, so there was a taste of adventure. We would arrive at a relatives house and a line of kids would come skipping through to greet us. I couldn’t wait to hand over whatever ingredient I was carrying from the car and trail off on the end of that train of cousins.

Teresa Thomas - Cold turkey, mayonnaise, and salt. Mmmmmmmmmmm heaven. The best use of Turkey leftovers ever!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this, I didn’t know Turkey Cutlets existed either, or that they might be so easy to cook. And I’ve never thought about cooking with Mayonnaise.
🙂

Tanya H - I don’t hate cooking, but I get tired of having to make meals every. single. day. LOL. And I actually don’t- if my husband is home he will cook becuase he loves it. I don’t mind doing laundry every week, but do we have to eat? haha…
This looks great tho, and the part about 15 minutes – wow, I am all over that! 🙂 THANKS!

Jennifer - This looks delicious! We love these turkey cutlets and really we just season them and pan cook. With a little sweet potato on the side… it is delicious! What is your secret to the asparagus? They look amazing! 🙂

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Cory’s 2 favorite foods are mayonnaise and gravy. Yep.
As for turkey, Calvin has been begging me to make a turkey pot-pie he found in a cooking magazine. It has mashed potatoes on top. I’m thinking he’s on to something…

Robin Canter - I love to chop up the leftover turkey and make turkey salad with Hellman’s – just like chicken salad. add some chopped celery, salt, pepper and some dill seasoning. Fabulous!

natalie (the sweets life) - i absolutely love using leftover turkey to make a sandwich and press it in the panini press!

Rach - Wow. I too had no idea these were in the poultry section of the grocery store. I’ll have to look today as I go and buy my 5 lb bag of russet potatoes to make mashed potatoes for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon with our neighborhood MOMS Club. And speaking of Thanksgiving dinner, the only Turkey I like to eat (well, maybe until I try this recipe) is a giant roasted turkey with all the trimmings. Yum.

Erin Whitney - Okay. I’ve never cooked with turkey cutlets either. Honestly, I didn’t even know they existed until I read this. haha Besides the traditional Thanksgiving turkey meals, I make a skillet spaghetti with ground turkey. YUMMO. Maybe it’s because I’m 7 months pregnant. Maybe it’s because I’m a hormonal mess, but it’s not even lunch and I need a turkey sandwich now….

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - Yummy! I am yet to try asparagus..it looks good with butter!

Laura Phelps - the chocolate turkey

ingrid - favorite would have to be the turkey sandwich on the day after thanksgiving. on ‘good’ toasted sourdough bread with lots of mayo, stuffing and cranberry sauce! yum…
this recipe you made looks delic!

i have laundry problems.
i do.
with seven people in the house we have a lot of dirty laundry!

so here is my NEW system…. their names on the wall… their dirty clothes in hampers under their name.
they aren't allowed more than one basket in the laundry room and the most important rule to me is
NO CLOTHES ON THE FLOOR.

everyone gets a day of the week to wash their own clothes… even my 7 year old.
it goes oldest to youngest and then dad & mom.

IF they get it in the washer before school i told them i would help them by moving it to the dryer for them
if i have time and if they have been behaving well i will even fold it for them.
they are highly motivated to get their laundry started before school now.
BUT they have to take it to their rooms and put it away.

(thank you to the blog reader who gave me that suggestion!)

the other change in our laundry room is the addition of the Bounce Dryer Bar.

IMG_8389-1
it has been so helpful for us especially with so many different people using the same laundry room.
this is one step that is already done.
with the Bounce Dryer Bar, it's automatic.

IMG_8390-2
it does just what the box says it does.
"Stick it and forget it!" for up to 3 months!!

IMG_8392-3

it looks kind of like a bar of soap when it's out of the packaging.
it's attached to the Bounce Dryer Bar cradle, which has an adhesive backing on it.
peel off the paper and stick it to the inside of your dryer.
like this:

IMG_8396-4

it works the same as dryer sheets but i don't have to remember to put the dryer sheet in!
i was always forgetting and we had so much static in our clothes.

it's made from the same stuff as dryer sheets but just molded into a bar.
the clothes bounce around and the dryer heats up and it gets your clothes fresh and controls the static.
and no more worries about dryer sheets stuck to your clothes in embarrassing situations…..

Lynn Downs - I have a five-year old daughter who now knows the laundry. It is her task every weekend to separate the clothes before we put those in the machine. At her young age, she knows this task already and that makes me the proudest.

Sarah T - I think the location of the laundry directly correlates to how much I dread doing the laundry. In our current apartment, it is in a shared basement and I HATE going down there! We are moving to a house this week that has a second floor laundry which was the total selling point of the house! I think my biggest tip is to not get behind and try to do a load a day rather than a full laundry day on Saturday!

Eugenie - I always turn off the water at the intake valve afterwards to avoid possible dripping or flooding.

Lee - I use an old toothbrush to clean the lint filter.

Jammie - Only tip I have is wash as soon as needed because once it gets backed up it isnt easy getting caught back up. sweepmorey at gmail dot com

Sarah L - Fresh out of tips. I like your system.
Thanks for the contest.

angie lilly - My laundry tip is that MOST laundry detergents work just as well in cold water as in hot, so using cold water will save you money by not using your water heater as much!!

nanjhall - The best laundry I have is to get someone else to do it:) If that doesn’t work, I try to always stay caught up so it doesn’t seem like there is mountains of laundry to do.

Robin @ Our Semi Organic Life - this looks great! I’d love to win one!

lala r - i use a laundry zipper bags. each one has their own for socks and underwear. this way i dont need to sort them out and goes directlyto the closet after drying.

Georgia - I really don’t have any tips but I am going to read everyone else’s for sure.
gmissycat at yahoo dot com

Fujiko Matsui - I’m trying to reduce the amount of clothing in our household. (Maybe less clothing means less laundry?) The kids have all gotten so many hand me downs from neighbors and friends and well meaning relatives that they wear something and throw it on the floor. Their drawers are overflowing and the pile on the floor keeps growing. I’ve put two bins (The large storage totes) one for each kid in the hall. After I do the laundry I put each kids clothing in their bin. They have to take out what they want to keep and put it away in their drawers and then I take whats left in the bins at the end of the week and take it out to donate. ^_^ Its starting to make a dent.

Christina Tong - I am trying to think of any laundry tip for you, but I can see you have been doing very well and your kids are already highly motivated to do their laundry. To me It’s perfect. Keep doing this way!
ctong2[AT]gmail[DOT]com

nan - i fold laundry and put it in baskets based on upstairs/downstairs for easier putting away
nannypanpan at gmail.com

Lynn - My laundry tip is to NEVER dry clothes that have undergone color bleeding. Wash them again with regular detergent and color-safe bleach.

Cori Westphal - I use Rit Dye Color Remover to get my white whiter than ever! it’s cheap and works great!
coriwestphal at msn dot com

Donna B. - I installed a tension rod in the laundry room so I can hang up clothes out of the dryer, less wrinkling that way. That’s the only tip I can think of.

Tabathia B - We have a separated baskets for towels and wet clothing
tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

cw - laundry tip….spray stains right away.

Ayed2016 - My laundry tip would be to teach a kid how to do laundry and make it their regular chore. My oldest does all of our laundry and I fold it when she is done and then they have to come pick it up. I fold it on my bed, that way it has to be put away before bed time. Haha.
ape2016(at)aol(dot)com

karen M - Before taking clothes out of the washer, run the washer for extra spin cycle. This will get more water out of the clothes and they will not take as long to dry in the dryer
karenmed409 at comcast dot net

Rosa - I do love the product and like the ideas in your blog.

Nicole - I like to separate the colors into different piles before I got to wash them. Then I can just throw the piles in as I go. It goes much more quickly this way.

Laura Martin - The only laundry tip I have is get a tall hamper so your dog doesn’t steal your dirty clothes and hide them! I heard a tip from the guy who came to fix my mom’s front load washer. Apparently you only truly need to use a few tablespoons of detergent in the new high efficiency washers as they don’t use much water…the detergent companies don’t want us to know that dirty little secret!

Val - I always forget the dryer sheet – so the Bounce Bar is the BEST~

Tina M - I have no tips. I ask my hubby or little one to help me
merleandtina@yahoo.com

Kelli Baker - I love the idea of trying the Bounce bar! I don’t have kids yet, so I should be taking tips from you! Wow!

rosemarie - i use these all the time

Dahbou - Doing laundry happens to be one of my most dreaded chores. This Bounce bar looks amazing, though. I do have one tip… turn anything that might get lint on it inside out. It’s a lot harder to get the lint off afterwards than it is to keep it off in the first place.

Lauren - I got my first Bounce Bar about a month ago. Now my clothes actually smell fresh! I used to never remember to put the dryer sheet in, but now I don’t have to.

Tammy EL - I don’t think I have any special tips, except to stay ahead of it or the piles overwhelm everyone.

Mandy - I only have to worry about my own laundry but I am a SNOB when it comes to how my clothes, towels, sheets, etc. smell when they come out of the dryer. I am excited to try the bounce bar.

Kate W. - I have no tips..I can’t even keep up with my own laundry, yikes!

Katelyn - The bounce bar would be great for my family, I will have to try it.

rebecca - Wow! What a great time saver!

Debra F - I have no tricks or suggestions….I don’t even separate my darks and lights.. oh the horror!

Jamie C - Put the kids to work – that’s all…lol. I, personally, wait until my kids are in bed…but they’re all very young and make laundry somewhat more difficult! 🙂
Thanks so much for the chance to win – love your site!!

Kerry - My only tip is to not get behind- I have done that before, and it takes way too much to get caught back up! I try to do a load every other day.

Anita B. - use less detergent it’s better for the environment. unless your clothes are filthy and covered in schmutz. i’d cut back atleast half of what you’re currently using. i use only half of the lil cuppy thing. all those chemicals can’t be that good for ya. imnotarunner at gmail dot com

Brandy - Use Oxy? Don’t let husbands sort clothes? I’m really hopeless. 😉

Holly - I have absolutely no tips… my hubby and I are expecting a baby in about 8 weeks (!!) and I can’t even keep up with our laundry!! I try to make a rule saying that as soon as a load comes out of the dryer I HAVE to immediately fold and put them away… but right now there are probably 5 baskets of CLEAN laundry sitting in the laundry room 🙁 Oh well, aren’t rules made for breaking?!

Laurie - Gotta love having one less step to keep up with! I have to try this out!!

Rachel - I’ve always wanted to try one of those!

Allie - At my house the laundry is all done by the hubby because he says I fold things wrong… My tip is therefore to fold poorly until someone else takes over (just kidding)

Miguelina Salvador - I don’t have any tips but we love bounce is the only brand we use
babitababita@hotmail.com

ANGEL JACKLYN - I HEARD CREAM SODA CLEANS UP STAINS BUT NEVER TRIED IT. OTHER THAN THAT, I’M TERRIBLE AT LAUNDRY (& YOU’D THINK IT WASN’T POSSIBLE, BUT IT IS… LOL)

Claire - Ah! I am a teacher and static cling has been my very worst enemy, along with those hard-to-find dryer sheets; so, I always count how many I put in and remove the same number when they come out! It sound like a process, but I swear–it’s made me think so much less about what’s sticking to what!

Melanie - Great ideas! I like the Bounce Bar.

kim - That’s a lot of dirty laundry…..Glad they are all pitching in!

Nichole Larson - Love the dryer bar!!!!! I’ve used it for awhile now, I dislike the dryer sheets everywhere and could not control those.

Mary Anne - I could definitely use one of these! I am a young newly married woman and I am trying to start off right, with a good budget. I make my own laundry detergent (and LOVE it) but it doesn’t leave that nice scent. Having those dryer sheets in one, would not only help take away the need of all those sheets all over! And it would help get a clean fresh smell on the clothes!

Sylwia - I don’t mind doing laundry but the folding part is the one I hate. Sometimes they are days before I fold them or I just simply forget that thay have been washed and I wash them again!:)

Lauren - I got the Bounce Dryer Bar for free off of their Facebook page over the summer. I haven’t used it yet, I was waiting until my drier sheets were used up… I might have to break it out, though!

Amanda - I have seen the Bounce dryer bar in the store, but I haven’t tried it yet…but…I have a coupon for one and now I’ve read your post I am going to go pick one up! (I use Bounce, just the sheets…dryer bar here we come!)

Brandi - I love the bar simply because the little dryer sheets that end up all over the floor bug me! 🙂 My only tip is that I throw in a scoop of Borax with every washer load…I’ve seen a huge difference in my clothes since I started that!

Carol B - i’ve been wanting to try this ever since I read your post on the dryer bar!

Austin - I (mostly) won a fight against fish oil by leaving a load of laundry in the sun/rain for a week.

Shannon Chambers - I love my Bounce Bar! Been using it for over a year now!! Oh…and my kids do their own laundry too! A lot of my friends gasp when I say this and then chime in with my kids would just die!! And believe it or not, they’re both still alive!!LOL!!

Elizabeth Ann - I recently started using the Bounce bar too and I like it! Would be cool to win another one!

Stephanie C. - I only have one basket that I use for toting clean and dirty clothes around. So if its full with one or the other I have to take care of them before I can do any more laundry. It just forces me to do it.

Jachel - I’ve started my 21 month old helping with laundry. He helps me put clothes in the washer and the dryer. He also helps me put clothes away. He loves it and even if it takes longer, so do I.

Carrie - Sorry if this posts twice…I typed my email incorrectly!
We are only a family of four, but laundry adds up quickly here! My husband prefers to do the laundry on Saturday and spend all day doing it. I prefer to do a load every day to stay caught up…I think it’s easier that way!

Carrie - We are only a family of four, but laundry adds up quickly here! My husband prefers to do the laundry on Saturday and spend all day doing it. I prefer to do a load every day to stay caught up…I think it’s easier that way!

Jessie C. - Never pile them up. Do them by schedule, say at least twice a week depends on each case.

Breeanna @ a brilliant melody - It’s only my husband and I living together, so I don’t think I could give you any tips for 7 people! But I’m amazed at how our two laundry hampers are full by the end of the week!

Rebecca - A dryer bar sounds like a great idea! I don’t have any suggestions for you, but I think I’ll be taking some of yours…especially regarding each member of the household taking responsibility for his or her own laundry.

steph - my only tip is to let most things air dry – less static and less electricity!

Whitney S - I hate doing laundry! And there’s only 2 of us! I have been eyeing the dryer bar for awhile now… glad to know you like it!

Ashley H. - I don’t have any more tips but it looks like you are doing just great.

Elizabeth C. - I definitely want to get one of these~ Sometimes I read a good book to the kids, and let them fold while I read. But it definitely doesn’t work on a regular basis! You sound like you have a good system going!

Susan Smith - My tip is to get the whole family to help with laundry.

FSB - With a family of 5, laundry is never finished. The Bounce Bar would be a welcome edition to our laundry room.

colleen - Laundry is not my favorite thing to do so saving a step sounds great to me! Sign me up!!

Franny - My tip is when the laundry situation gets overwhelming — declare laundry bankruptcy — get a roll (or 2) of quarters, load it all up and go to the laundry mat — gets it done in less time than you could at home doing one load at a time because you can use as many washer/dryers as necessary.

Andrea R. - We don’t have as many kids in our house – just 2 – so our laundry isn’t as much of a mountain as yours! But it is still quite the mountain to climb! We have started having the kids be in charge of all towels in sheets in the house. Fridays after school they start those. They are in charge of folding and delivering it as well. They also fold and put away all their own clothes. I had to give up control over the neatness of their drawers, but it has been a big help.

Melanie - I’ve seen the Bounce dryer bar ads in magazines but have never tried it. There’s “only” 3 of us in my household, but I do a ton of laundry, as I wash our towels and washcloths after each use (yeah, I’m a bit neurotic w/that)…and my hubby wears a uniform to work, then changes into regular clothes, and we both have workout clothes!
Nice to see that your kids pretty much do their own laundry. I trained mine to do that when they were young, too.

Emily - I love the idea for the bounce bar, but with a baby coming I have to think about the sensitive skin thing.. but once he gets older we’ll be switching back! It’s kinda a pain to stick it and then have to take it out to do baby clothes!

Courtney M - As far as tips go, you are a family of 7 and I have a family of 4, so your tips are probably worth more weight than mine.

nora - no tips since i have a two year old and a 6 month old and our laundry is made up of mostly bibs and tiny socks. the 2 year old really likes to help, so hopefully i can get him doing his own laundry in a couple of years 🙂

Bailey C - My kids are too young to do their own laundry…I would love to pay someone to come and fold and put away my laundry…that’s the part I HATE the most!

Nici - I find it best to separate the laundry and wash it per person as well, then I take the dried clothes into the room of the person and fold it in there…this way it gets put away right away!

Kari - I don’t really have any laundry tips but I am a huge fan of Bounce. Their dryer sheets are great for cleaning soap scum out of the bathtub.

Georgia - Tweeted too

Georgia - No big laundry tips here. Not my favorite job but I am going to try this bar out for sure.
gmissycat at yahoo dot com

Missy - Great invention…….would like to try it.

Naomi Williams - Um…this looks amazing! My dear husband is always begging me to use triple the amount of fabric softener in his dress clothes b/c he HATES static, so this would make things super easy! Love this idea!

brenna - I want to try it! I just started using dryer sheets and this sounds even better!

Robin - So love that you are doing this with your kids! Such great life lessons you are instilling with them! Mine are grown and I wish I would have had them do this! Instead, I was very hard on myself and felt like it was MY job (even tho I worked full time) so therefore, there was always dirty laundry and always a stressed Momma trying to deal with it! Looking back…I WOULD have done that differently!! YOU GO GIRL! I would LOVE to try a Bounce bar too!!!

Lisa - I love this idea! I like the bounce bar too – who knew?!

donna - Lori Austin – YES it does come in free and clear.

donna - i love that bounce bar i just bought one and my clothes smell so fresh. i have 6 kids so i know what you mean about the laundry – however, you have trained your kids well and i have not 🙁

Lisa - Would love to try the Bounce dryer bar!

Christina Self - I stink at the dryer sheets too! This would be perfect.

sandee prince - good idea Bounce! I will def have to pick one up next time I go to Wally.
Thanks for the info!

jenn - I’m all about sticking it and forgetting it. Okay…I have to add in that about a year ago we “redid” our laundry room – translation: we replaced the single light bulb with a pretty chandelier (thrift store find + spray paint), hung some cabinets our friends were chunking during their kitchen redo – painted those and put glass knobs on them, and I repainted the laundry room. And now…I LOVE that room and it sounds ridiculous, but I promise it’s made me so much more motivated to tackle the never ending piles. In conclusion: making it pretty goes a long way towards motivation! After all, we do spend a lot of time in there!

christi @ burlap and basil - have you tried color catcher? never ever ever sort your laundry again. wash your whites with brights with blacks with stripes. toss n a color catcher. wash on cold. dry like you normally would. the color catcher catches excess dye – no bleeding. they have saved so many shirts and pants and sweatshirts in our house! buy them on amazon – they are cheapest there for a box of 12 boxes.

Christine - I just started using the bar this week and I LOVE it!! We have 5 in our household with three animals who shed like crazy so there is ALWAYS laundry to be done. But in order to keep my sanity, laundry days are Mondays and Wednesdays. Don’t get your clothes in the dirty piles by then, no clean outfits for you. Then after its all washed and dried, everyone has their own laundry basket that they all get sorted into and they are responsible for folding and putting it away. So far its working for us!

Maria - Sorry, no tips. That is a lot of laundry.

Stacy - We keep wooden, spring-style clothespins on the hampers in each bedroom. If you get a stain on your clothing, attach a clothespin to that item before tossing it into the hamper. Later, when laundry is sorted in our basement, items that have clothespins get stain treatment before being sorted into the appropriate pile. No more set-in stains…at least not because I didn’t know that the stain existed.

lacey poag - oh laundry! what works best for our family is to HANG everything that gets hung straight out the dryer…less ironing. win. win.

Allison - I like to throw in a handful of baking soda with a load of clothes when the washer starts to smell musty. My front load washer can get icky pretty fast if we don’t leave the door open between cycles!

Brandie - I have been very curious about these bars. I always forget to buy the sheets when I run out!

Diana - Wow! I am constantly behind on laundry and I only have 2 kiddos! I used to have a laundry “day” but now I’m realizing I need to do some every single day. My 3 year old “helps”, but it looks like you’re doing a great job actually having your kids do it themselves. They WILL thank you someday when they’re in college and they’re the only one of their friends who knows how to work a washer and dryer!

Michelle Whitlow - I used to use that dryer bar but now that I have cloth diapers for the littlest one I can’t…can’t use fabric softener on diapers 🙁

Elizabeth Ann - there is nothing like the smell of fresh laundry! and warm towels just our of the dryer! i like your ideas!

52scrap - I absolutely LOVE the bounce dryer bar. I have my three children bring their dirty clothes to the laundry room, they sort and I wash and dry. They then have to fold and put away their own laundry. Works very well for us. Then I only have to fold my own and I do that while catching up on my favorite tv shows. 🙂

Brooke Guevara - Just wanted to note that you have to remember to change it! I bought one and loved it, until it became so convenient that I forgot to change it. It ended up getting pretty worn down after 5-6 months and I finally changed it when I noticed some of my cloths were catching on it and tearing. love this product; I just need to remember that its there. hehe

angela - Don’t hate me…I love to do laundry! Your kids would love me! Just sayin….:)

Allison Muhlbauer - I really want to try the Bounce Dryer bar. One less thing to remember to do!!

Tracy - That’s a great idea! I’d love to forget about dryer sheets for 3 months at a time. Eco-friendly, too!

Jayne - I use dryer sheets and am excited to try this bar. I hope I win!

Jody H - I love the bounce bar. I’ve used it and it works great. I’m not sure I have any tips for you. I do all my laundry (for a family of 7) on Monday. I usually save all the folding til the end and watch a movie while I fold clothes and sort them into the kid’s baskets. The kids then get their baskets and take them to their rooms to put away. I think the way you have your kids involved is better, but this works for me. hickenfam at hotmail dot com

Leah - No tips here, but I am loving yours!

the domestic fringe - I use these bounce bars and I like them too. You’ve got a great system going on!
~FringeGirl

Kristin Hayne - The only MUST have item I have with laundry are laundry bags… they are fantastic for jeans or sweaters…. I always have the problem of all the legs intertwining and making a wonderful “jean bow” when it goes into the the dryer. Have you ever tried ironing those creases out? They seem like they are permanant!!! I swear!!
Sweet bar…. will have to try that one of these days… didn’t even know it existed!!!!

jodi - I’m glad I’m not alone.I have three girls. (two of which change outfits at least 3 times a day) Laundry is never ending at our house. These dryer bars look awesome. Would love to try.

Lisa Anibal - i LOVE the Bounce Dryer Bar!!!! No more dryer sheets found in pant legs during meetings 🙂

andrea - I would love to try the bar! I wash and dry my 2 kids stuff, but their job is to put it away…they’re not very good at that!! any pointers?? they are 10 and 7

Christy - Good lord you need your own laundry mat. I use the dryer bars and love them.

Stephanie Z. - family of 6 here too and I simply cant keep up, so your ideas might just be my best ideas too…beats the clothes on my bedroom floor waiting to get folded for a week!

Lori Austin - Only 2 kiddos in this house. I try to do a load a day to stay caught up and I always fold right away (except this week – been sick, sick, sick…) I also only own one laundry basket for the clean clothes (refuse to use same basket for dirty/clean clothes). This works for me – probably not everyone.
Wonder if the bounce bar comes in free and clear??

Lisa - We are a family of six and anything that will make doing laundry easier is a plus for me. I’m going to give the dryer bar a shot. 🙂

Kari - I don’t have any tips for you, since I am the laundry machine in my house. Everyone says I’m insane, but I actually LIKE doing laundry, AND folding it, so I don’t mind doing everyone’s laundry. I think your systems sounds like it will work great. Given the opportunity for you to finish it for them seems like it will keep them motivated to get it started before school. And I really like the idea of assigned days. I think I’ll start using that when i start making other people do their own laundry. Oh, and I wanted to say, I LOVE the dryer bar. The previous tenant had left one in an apartment I lived in, and I have been buying them ever since. :]

Kacy - I do a load a day, at least, to avoid a huge mountain of laundry. But, I only have 3 kids so this method probably wouldn’t work for you 🙂 My oldest is 11- I need to follow your lead and have her start doing her own laundry!!

Shawna - We have been using the dryer bar for a year now and love it. No tips but I make my 3 kids sort their own clothes in the color piles. I do all the laundry on weekends and then I put the laundry in their baskets and they take it to their room and put it away. If I have time I fold it for them, otherwise they have to do that also.

Wendy B. - No tips, but I do like that the kiddos are helping out…that might cut down on the multiple outfit changes. I like the Bounce bar because you don’t have to pick up and toss all the dryer sheets when you are folding – I have never gotten mine to last the 3 mos. though, I think that is for people who do a couple loads a week! 🙂

Nicole - Oh girl…no tips here. I generally do the laundry in one fell swoop, but we only have three people here. I love it that your kiddoes do their own laundry!

Dena - Am I the only one that hates the smell of Bounce? I’m a Downy girl, but this is a good idea.

Ruth H. - Ummmm…..I think you just answered my prayers! I’ve been hating our laundry situation. It has been no fun lately. Clothes everywhere. I’m starting to forget which baskets are clean and which are dirty. I’m totally going to try this! Thank you, Meg!

Laura - I also have five kids and was excited to try the bounce bar, but I was SO disappointed. It didn’t work at all for us. Everything came out of the dryer snapping and crackling with static. Went right back to dryer sheets.
Right now, it doesn’t matter though. We moved about three months ago, and haven’t had a dryer since! I just do a load or two a day, and it all gets done. 🙂

Elizabeth Jorgensen - I have not tried the bounce bar yet..I still use the sheets. My children now 18, 14 and 12 have been doing their own laundry for about 7 yrs now, it’s been heaven. The problem I have is they usually don’t get their clothes back in their dressers. Walked in the other morning to find my oldest sleeping on his bedroom floor because all his clean clothes were on his bed! REALLY…So now only to get them to put away their clothes!

Amy Smith - I tweeted here about the giveaway. Thanks!
http://twitter.com/#!/proverbs3116/status/134407368820793344

Amy Smith - This sounds great! I even have trouble remembering the dryer sheet sometimes!

Amanda - I have used the dryer bars before with good out come. For some reason I forgot about ’em so I may be buying some more in the future. My laundry is also never ending, but I’m the biggest offender of changing my clothes often and saying they are ‘dirty’.

Melissa - Sounds easy! Great job getting your kids to do their laundry…mine are 3 and 5, so not sure when we can start that!

Heather R. - Thank you for spoiling us! I’ll have to give the Bounce bar a go. I have hangers at the ready and don’t fold clothes. Everything gets hung and it is FASTER. Undies and socks get tossed in their drawers. 😉

Diana Yarborough - I need the tall laundry baskets. We seem to do a load of laundry a day – we don’t have enough clothes to go too long without doing a load?
Folding is the problem!

Danielle - We tried this bar about a month ago and have never turned back! With 2 little boys, we go through a lot of laundry, so we have definitely put it to the test. It’s performed beautifully and it’s so cool that is says “replace” when it’s all used up – which is where ours is right now! Perfect timing for this giveaway (:

Sarah - I am bad about not grabbing the dryer sheets out before grabbing all the laundry so I always end up finding dryer sheets strewn through out the house! Such a great idea that dryer bar!

Diana - Can’t wait to try this!! I use the sheets and I forget to add them sometimes as well! This just makes sense and takes one more thing off a busy mothers mind!

Jane - I have noticed several blogs that are encouraging the dryer bar. I will have to try that. I also like the idea you have used for a clothes basket for each member of the family. I will have to pass that idea on to my oldest daughter. Unfortunately, she has recently become a single mom of 3 young children and she has a huge laundry problem. I think this would help her and give the children some responsibility and also encourage them to know that they are helping out. Thanks!!

Carrie - I want to try one of those! I only have two daughters, but I do laundry every single day…

Juli - That sounds amazing and less waste in the waste basket!

Talia - Wow! I love your laundry solution. Honestly, it never dawned on me to have everyone do their own laundry. What a great system you have put into play! I am going to start doing the same. Thanks for sharing!

Michelle - You could get the kids names in vinyl and put them on the wall more permanently. You wouldn’t have to worry about the paper getting wrecked or torn off the wall and ending up in the machine with the laundry. Heck I would even offer to make their names for you if you wanted all you’d have to do is put them on the wall since I live in Canada! Let me know! Great system, by the way! (If you go to my blog there is a link at the top to my scrapjazz gallery, you can see some of my vinyl there)
Have a great day!

Christy - I also have a family of 7 with tons of laundry! That bar looks quite convenient, I’ll have to try it!!

Amy - I love this idea! Must try it!!

Jennie - My only tip is one that you are already doing. I make sure that our laundry never gets to be more than one hamper full for my husband and I and a separate one for our little girl. When either gets full, that means I MUST do laundry. As a general rule, though, I do a load of laundry every day. It keeps things from getting to overwhelming amounts and makes sure that people get to wear their favorite clothes when they “need” them. 😉

Penny - My girls are mostly grown, just the 17 year old at home now. I started them on their own laundry by the time they were about 12. So good for you getting the little girls going early! It always felt like we had tons of laundry when all three girls were living at home. We were constantly losing socks! Where do they go? That has always baffled me. I have been meaning to try this Bounce Bar. I would love to win one!

Deanna - Unless everyone in the family is naked when all the laundry is done there will ALWAYS be dirty laundry. That’s my depressing tip!

Chantel - Even for a family of four, laundry can be a nightmare. I tried the Bounce bar and liked the idea, but not the scents (I know, I’m an oddball). Then I saw that they just came out with one in Gain scent and I was hooked!

Kasey - I cannot imagine the amount laundry for 7 people!

Holly - I hear ya on the clothes, as I have 5 kids also. I do two loads a day, one dark and one light and have to immediately fold it or hang it as soon as the dryer finishes. And, according to facebook comments I am one of the last few who irons. I think I am OCD in the laundry department.

Katie Holeman - To save money on laundry detergent I make mine! It’s super easy, cheap and lasts a long time! I use a dove bar, borax and washing soda.

Jenn - Great product and blog!

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - I love that you have your kids doing their own laundry and you’re a good mom telling them you will help them fold it 🙂

Lari - There are 6 @ our house and I’m the only girl so lots of smelly laundry here! LOL! My tip is to keep a stain stick in the boys’ bathroom and have them treat any stains when they get undressed. Since they sort the laundry too, it helps me not miss as many stains. Also teach them YOUNG to sort clothes! As soon as they know their colors…they can sort! I like to think my DILs will be grateful one day! 😉

Kris Timson-Bates - I have been meaning to pick up a Bounce Bar to try. I absolutely HATE picking up the dryer sheets that inevitably end up all over the floors, which become slipping hazards on tile. I am pleased to see that you have had success with the bar and can’t wait to get one to see how it works out for me. I have 3 kids (4 if you count my husband).
My husband and I like to fold laundry while watching a movie, so we can share the responsibility and spend time together. It works great catching up on shows we have on the DVR as well. The chore goes by quicker and on commercial breaks we distribute the clothes where they belong.
I also tweeted about this promotion here: http://twitter.com/#!/krisinterrupted

Amanda - oh goodness the Bounce bar certainly looks like a time saver … one that my static clinged family could use. My laundry problems stem from having two little boys who think the floor is their hamper :/

Tanya H - no laundry tips for you…other than next year I am going to have my son use the washing machine and dryer for the family laundry. However, I am very interested in the dryer bar becuase this last time Walmart only had boxes of dryer sheets that were half as many as before, and for the same price. SO not cool!

Rosemary - I tweeted about the contest:
http://twitter.com/#!/Lupakitty

Rosemary - Me oh my this post came on an appropriate day. I swear I did about 8 loads of laundry today(none folding. doh!). I ran out of dryer sheets third load in. (double doh!)

Kate H - I was nervous to stick something into my dryer, but I got one about 6 months ago and I just replaced it. I am in love. No more dryer sheets all over! I don’t have any tips. I don’t have kids yet, but I was one of 5 kids. I started doing laundry at an early age because I got sick of not having my clothes when I wanted them or having them end up in someone elses room! And I am pretty sure my husband has more laundry than I do! I love the dryer bar! And my husband 🙂

Michelle - I have a small basket for each person in our family (6 of us) that I have sitting on top of the washer and dryer. As I pull socks and underwear out of the dryer, it automatically goes into each persons basket. They always know where to go for socks and underwear.

alphabetmomma - What a great idea! My tip: I give my little people their own stain sticks. With 6 kiddos there is a lot of laundry in this house too! Love your blog!

Kim York - Love the idea of sticking a bounce bar in and forgetting about it. I “try” to remember the bounce sheets 😉

Holly - I loved everything about the bounce bar but one small detail. I accidentally put a tennis shoe in the dryer and it knocked my bar plum off! Other than that I love it!

mollie b. - no tips…but i might steal yours! i’ve never tried the bar, but i usually use 2 or 3 dryers sheets because i want my clothes to smell really good 🙂

Marie - maybe getting some hampers with wheels on them to roll around instead of dragging baskets? i’ve always wanted to get some but they’re kinda pricey. 🙂

Karen - Yay for more effecient laundry!

Arlene - Definitely seems like a money saver not to have to go through all those dryer sheets!

Carla - Looks like a great product – thanks for the chance to win.

Amy N - Wow, I wish my kids were doing their own laundry! Soon I hope. I don’t think I have any tips for you!

Adrienne S - I love the idea of the kids doing their own. But, I am not there yet. I do have three different colored baskets in the hallway. One for darks, one for lights and one for underwear/socks. When they are full..I do laundry. It works for me. If the teenagers decide to not put their laundry in the baskets then it does not get done.

Tara Gallinger - I don’t have any tips for you but I sure am envious of the size of your laundry room!!! Mine is a glorified box…talk about needing some organization:)

Joy Kinard - We are learning to get landrydone around a new schedule and it has been so hectic! And… I ran out of dryer sheets today- for real. That Bounce bar would have come in handy!

Linda B - I also do laundry “by person”. The only other “tip” I would have is that I turn my jeans inside out so that they don’t fade as fast. I tried putting the kids socks in a lingerie bag to keep them together, but it didn’t work for me.

Katie @ explanationrequired - A few months back I was trying to find alternative to dryer sheets – they just seem so wasteful. This might be just the right thing!

Kimberly - I wish my kids did their own laundry. With one only being 3, it seems unfair to make the 8 year old do his separately from everyone else’s. Well, he puts his own clothes away.
The biggest thing that helps with laundry here is re-wearing. My husband and I both have sets of hooks one which we hang our favorites. The kids’ clothes get re-used less often, but if they are clean enough, they get hung up for another use.
I’d love the give the dryer bar a try. I use liquid and would be glad to change to something less messy.

Lynda M. - Don’t hate, but I like doing laundry 🙂 I’m only doing it for a family of 3 though – I’m sure I would feel differently if I had a family of 7!

Nichole - I’m intrigued. I’d never seen such a thing. I don’t have kids, so our laundry is simple: a load a day. But static is always an issue. My fiance and I have to touch before we kiss because, wow, it hurts otherwise. Bzzt!

Bethany - i love the dryer bar!! i have been using them for about a year and i will probably never go back to dryer sheets. it sounds like you have a great system set up for laundry. i just taught my 12 year old how to do her laundry. i realized that she was way too old to NOT know how to do her own laundry. if only my 1 year old could be trained…

sara @ it's good to be queen - wow, you’re kids are going to be set up for life! so…my ginormo laundry issue is the fact that my boys have mounds of clothes on the floor of their bedroom…it never even makes it to their laundry basket in the bathroom without me nagging them….sigh…it’s exhausting. and socks…everywhere. okay now i’m just complaining. 😉 i’ve tried the dryer bar and i like it. one less step is a definite bonus. now i’m thinking it’s time for them to put their own clothes away…however i don’t know if i can handle it since i know they will just stuff them in the drawers, willy nilly.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Pure magic! I’m intrigued.

Tori - I keep a bottle of stain remover in my daughter’s changing table. At the end of the day, I just spray down the evidence of her fun day and throw the clothes in the hamper. Everything then washes clean when I get around to doing that load!

Anna Marie - These are so great! I have been using them for a bit and then went back to sheets but I really do like them and need to get a refill.

Beth Ann - No tips, I am trying figure out how to get laundry done for myself, my husband and a 5, yr old, a 4 yr old and 6 month old….

Jen - my laundry tip is like an anti-tip, don’t let your clothes pile up for a month and a half…it takes forever to wash them all. learn from my mistakes!

Christy K - I’m not sure how it happens, but somehow the laundry in our house seems to pile up faster than we can wear the clothes! I too have experienced the ‘dryer sheet stuck to clothing and appearing at the most inopportune time’ situation… would love to give it a try… anything to make doing laundry in a household with 5 people more efficient sounds good to me!

Joleen - I hate doing laudry, this would be a great help!

April M - I have those same tall, narrow baskets 🙂
yeah for clean laundry that doesn’t shock you when you pull it out of the dryer!

Meghan - For stains I like the Dreft stain spray. It works miracles on my infant’s clothes so I’ve started using it on mine and my husband’s clothes too.

Jolene (Homespun Heritage) - Our laundry system is pretty simple. I do mom/dad laundry, then the boys, then the girls….(then towels or sheets) and its done. I’m seriously OCD about laundry!

Ana Hogan - I would love to try the bounce bar! I hate using dryer sheets anymore. I am always finding them on my kitchen floor, usually after I’ve almost slipped and busted my tail from stepping on one. I cannot do laundry without Resolve Spray and Wash. There is nothing that resolve cannot get out. With three small kids, and lots of clothes to manage, it’s a blessing to have.

Kimmie - I love that you are getting your kids involved with their own laundry! I will have to remember this in a few years when they are old enough to see the top of the washer 🙂 I will admit I was surprised you didn’t make the name labels in rainbow colors 😉

Alma - I have been wanting to try the bar for a while now, but I keep forgetting to buy it when doing my shopping; just like forget to put the dryer sheets in dryer.

Kendra - Our 6 yr old son will soon become responsible for running laundry through – towels, socks, and underwear. Then 5 yr old sister and 4 yr old brother will help match/fold. My laundry tip – wear things more than once!!! If I find clothes laying around my kids’ floors and it’s not smelly or stained, back in the drawer it goes!

bread and jam - I’m a laundry slave. I don’t think a bar would help. Except maybe I’d get something out of the laundry smelling better.

Dawn - I would love to try the Bounce Dryer bar. Does it leave any grease spots on your clothes? I was using another product that shall remain nameless and it was super convenient, but suddenly grease spots were showing up on our clothes…NOT good. But my laundry tip for you is how to rid yourselves of these grease spots. Believe it or not…a little Dawn dish soap rubbed into the grease spot stain should do the trick. Just rub it in with your finger and throw it into the regular laundry. Even grease spots that have existed for awhile will come out. Truly, Dawn “cuts the grease”. 🙂

Eva Scott - I just had baby #2 and it’s unreal how much more laundry there is. While my kids aren’t nearly old enough to do their own laundry, I’ll have to tuck these ideas away to use in the future!

Amber B - I’ve used the Bounce Dryer Bar and LOVE IT!

Terri Peters - I have tons of laundry for my family of 6 and try to do at least 1 load a day to help me keep it manageable. Also keeping darks seperated from lights helps with the time it takes in sorting. I love the smell bounce dryer sheets gives the laundry too, nothing like fresh smelling sheets and towels!

Jenna - I’m also big on the spiky dryer balls! They are noisy but worth it.

kimmie - I just got a new washer & dryer and decided to try the bounce bar. I am totally loving it!
kimmie

Heather - I’ve been meaning to try that Bounce Bar! But force of habit I guess I mindlessly pick up the sheets everytime. Duh!

holly kurtzer - Family of 6 here, I always say if we would become nudists it would save a lot of hassle. My tip would be: hide the folded laundry baskets from the toddler or she will fling them all over. Or I guess you could just put them away?!?
and I tweeted about it too…
http://twitter.com/#!/fromhighway59
I have used dryer bars for almost a year and loooove them. Anything I can do to minimize my list with this A.D.D personality!!

Heather - I love that your kids are doing their own laundry. My girls have been responsible for folding and putting away their own laundry since they were 5 and 6. It’s a beautiful thing!

Ellen J - Hmm…being a single woman living by myself, I throw things in the washer as they become dirty. That way I just start it once it’s full.
I know that’s not a tip for you, but I unfortunately don’t have much wisdom in this department yet!! I do want to try the Bounce bar though!!

TinaM. - I like to do towels after everyone gets their shower at night. We’re a family of 5 so towels and washcloths add up quickly. I like to do this laundry at night because if I run out of time to fold them it doesn’t matter if they get wrinkles from staying in the dryer over night. Ironing is the last thing that I want to do!!

Terrie - You can have one of your moms come and live with you and have her do the laundry like the Duggars do…of course, then you would need to have 15 more kids!

Tracy - I’m wondering if the dryer bar stains clothing. I’ve had that problem with dryer sheets. Anyhoo, I center laundry day around tv programs or movies I want to watch so I have something to look forward to while I fold clothes.

Southern Gal - No better ideas for you. Looks like you’re doing well. I still do everyone’s laundry.

shara - oooh… these sound awesome!
i have 3 little kiddos and we always have some crazy stains happening. i’ve found that making a mixture of zout and oxi-clean on any stain gets it out. like ANY stain. so great.

Lori - I like the idea of the dryer bar. Hope it comes in unscented? My only laundry tip is to do one load every day, but I have a feeling that might not work for you!

Megan B - My goodness, I have no tips for you, but I wish I did! I have one child and he’s 3, so I do all of the laundry around here. The weird thing, though? I kind of like it.

Mary Susan McConnell - Love this idea! I’m always out of dryer sheets and NEVER remember to pick up more… I love the “Stick it and forget it” method.

nancy c. - I use the Bounce dryer bar too & I love it. I only have 4 kids…all girls & I also have laundry issues! But we’re getting there. Once I said no TV or computer until homework is done & rooms are picked up (including laundry being under control) things started getting done!

jackie grandy - Wow! I thought I did ton’s of laundry, but I take that back! I love that your kids participate in doing their own laundry. I have to start mine on that chore 🙂
I use those dryer balls in my dryer. They cut down on drying time and fluff up your clothes. You should try them.

footloose…..again.

sooo…..are you going to go see it?

did you see it IN THE THEATER when you were a kid?

i think i did.

i loved that movie.
watched the original so many times.
and i lived in a pretty conservative small town so it felt "relatable"
i don't know if it actually WAS….but as a teenager i thought it was.

i think it would be fun to go with girls my age now….

throw a footloose party for grown ups?

will i miss sarah jessica parker and kevin bacon?
did you notice how much the new willard looks like the OLD willard????
cute.
did ariel's boyfriend scare you when you were a kid…..he scared me.
i knew i never wanted a boyfriend that hit me in the face after i watched that.
or….i had never thought about it until then and that made it official.
because i was 10???
and i loved when they taught willard to dance.

my favorite scene was when all the glitter falls at the prom and they yell "LET"S DANCE!!!"

but i am uncomfortable with group dance scenes in movies….and singing with dancing in musicals.
so i would probably think it was pretty lame.

AND i would probably be a little grossed out by the behavior that is portrayed by "high school" students in this movie….since i have a high schooler.
AND i really don't want to think about my teenager racing tractors or school buses…
or sneaking out to bars in the city to dance with old cowboys…..

i am on the fence.

what about you?

Stefanie - I’m making my husband take me to see it for my birthday, wha ha ha!

Katrina - I loved the original movie!
This one? I think I’ll wait until I can Netflix it.
But it does look slightly entertaining. I think I’d be more interested in seeing it just so that I can compare it with the original.
My favorite episode of Will & Grace is when Will and Jack “stalk” Kevin Bacon outside of his house and Kevin catches Will outside and invites Will in and they end up dancing to the theme song from Footloose…. and then Jack runs in the house, all jealous and furious, because he knows that Will isn’t even a fan. Such a fun episode. Ever seen that one? YouTube it!

crystal buetler - I’ve been thinking about this very same thing. Footloose again. Can’t we stay loyal and love the old Footloose? That was filmed at one of my favorite small towns in Utah — which is no longer a small town. {sigh} My favorite part was when they taught Willard to dance. He’s dead you know. So sad. I’m all or an adult Footloose Party. 80’s wear rocks. 🙂

Emily Langston - One of my all time favorites… though I LOVED the intro credits with all the dancing feet! My sister and I would name which person in our family would be which shoes. I don’t have much hope for the newest version… I don’t think I’ll be wasting 20 bucks to see it in the theater. But I’m kinda a purist when it comes to childhood memories trying to be redone.

D9 - Hmmm ,
I am on the fence too.
Hollywood does SEX everything up now. With a teenager in our house you need to be picky about the things they view. PG is not all it is cracked up to be anymore.

susan - Jen,
SJP was the friend:)

susan - So remember the old one… there was a line around the theater to see it. I think it was my second movie to see:)
Hard to recapture that…. this one looks much more sexual.
Not sure –

leslie @ topofthepage - i’m out. sorry. i don’t have the nostalgia related to the first, but was out after seeing the trailer and how much sweaty sexualness was happening on the sly between cutie/angry boy and the pastor’s daughter. it bums me out that it’s marketed to children, that’s all. robin above makes a very good point. however, i am not a fan of all the sensuality in every teen movie these days. it’s way too much, in my opin.

Jill Franklin - I Loved the original! After seeing the movie like five times I went out and got me some Red boots! I thought I was all that in those boots. I will most likely wait till it comes out on dvd. It looks like it may be good, maybe even better…eeps! did I just say that!?!

TinaM. - I was trailer for this movie and think it will be cool to see. I think I may have only have seen the original one time, but I jam to the soundtrack on my ipod all the time.

Jen - Hi Meg!
I feel compelled to tell you that it wasn’t SJP in the girl role–it was Lori Singer.
I am a fountain of useless knowledge. It’s a gift.

Robin Heim - I think you need to take a deep breath, really remember when you saw the first FOOTLOOSE and what you did afterwards. Did you rush out to do all the crazy things it portrayed — even when you were finally old enough to attempt them? Probably not. And neither will your children. Why? Because you’ve raised them. You’ve taught them the difference between real life, reality TV, and movies –> and you’ve let them dance. 😉

Michelle from Australia - I’m 41. I think I am WAY too young to be able to remember the original clearly and have a remake out already. Maybe this is what happens as you age? Either way, I’m curious about how the new movie is different so I’ll probably wait for it to come out on DVD.
And as for Dirty Dancing, I saw that when I was 17. Just got my driver’s licence. If they remake that anytime soon, I will be most unimpressed. Well I’ve had the time of my life…… 🙂

Lindsey@ Piecefully Home - i was too young to watch the original when it came out (not to mention my parents were ultra careful with the movies we were allowed to watch) i watched many, many years later, though and loved it. 🙂 being a preachers daughter and growing up in a small town with very conservative parents i could totally relate to the movie. however, i hate remakes when the original is so fantastic!! so i will not see this one, i can just about guarantee it’s going to be too risque and too cheesy…and i’m totally with you on group dancing scenes. lame.

Lisa - I saw the original in the theater TWICE! My sweet dad took me both times. I think I’ll have to see the new one…

jessica kiehn - If a movie is made by MTV you can count me out. That movie looks like straight up pornography. So sad and dissapointing. These are the kind of films that we have to chose from now?! I think i’ll stay at home with my sweet little family and NOT fill my mind with filth.

ingrid lapp - I don’t want to think about mine having sex in the woods either. Good grief I feel so old.

Christi Hoffman - I was 13 when the original came out! My older sister and I went. She was 18 and WILD. I LOVED the dancing! I remember thinking : Why do ppl drink?, it makes you act stupid! LOL! And I am NOT going to high school parties if that is what ppl do at them. I am excited to take my 13 & 20 yr old to see it. I often use(d) movies to start conversations with my daughter. It worked for us. It is working (so far) with my 13 yr old son. He went to his first “sevie party” on Friday. sigh…..

Jen Brandt - Footloose is one of my all time fav movies and I am shocked that so many of your readers have never seen it!!! I don’t know that I want to see the re-make because I’m afraid it will ruin the whole “Footloose fantasy” for me.

got2havefaith - Why do they always have to “sex it up”? And why can’t Hollywood come up with original ideas? Leave the classics alone already!
So, that’s what I think anyway. I will probably check it out when it comes out on Starz out of curiosity…but no one can replace Kevin Bacon.

Cori - I am going to see it for sure. I loved the original and I am excited to see what they do with the remake. The original was filmed in Utah in the community I live in. I have friends and family who are extras in the movie. It will be a little sad to watch the new one and not see anything or anyone that is familiar.

kristine - I don’t like remakes but this is one I am going to see….won’t be Kevin or the real WIllard but we’ll see…

kate - didn’t think it was sarah jessica…someone else noticed to…lori singer…but don’t think i’ll see it again…loved the original..so cheesy!

Toni :0) - My family went and saw it last Tuesday at a special screening! I love the original so wasn’t sure what to expect. My coworker’s daughter is one of the extra dancers in the movie and I have to say we LOVED IT!! The guy who plays Willard (Miles Teller) is TERRIFIC and so are the little girls too. We thought it was updated nicely and it’s fun and we loved the line “The wheels on the bus go boom, boom, boom!” My son is almost 13 and he saw the original and this one and liked them both! I highly recommend!

Valerie @ Chateau A la Mode - Well Miss Meg, I was a grown up when I saw Footloose for the first time…HA! I don’t like remakes…leave the orginals alone is what I usually think. Of course my girls want to see it and I’m not sure I want them to 🙂 so like you I haven’t decided yet either. Let us know if you see it and what you think!

sara - not going to see the new one. no way. kevin bacon was IT! no replacing! i dont need the update either…i liked the clean version verses the updated skanky highschool escapades they will show. willard was the best…he was very underated.

Cathy - I probably won’t see it. But I do live in the city where a lot of the original movie was filmed. And I can see my Grandma’s house in one of the scenes…if I don’t blink. No kidding.

Kerry Wiebe - I’m looking for your super tight jacket and having your shirt made right now that says “Dance your ASS off!! HA HA Can’t wait!

Kat - Loved it then and I was probably 13.
It would be interesting to watch the remake but what if they ruin it, or it’s just not the same as I remember it?
Maybe I will check it out when it comes out on dvd.

Kerri - I am TERRIFIED they are going to RUIN it! I have been agonizing over this for months!

PrairieJenn - So, I was eleven when the original came out and loved it. But I’m absolutely sure I would see it in a different light now as I think about my own kiddos. Sounds like the remake might be s good choice for date night or moms night out:)

Jen - i just can’t. personally, there are some originals that can’t be messed with. this is one of them. kevin bacon, sjp, john lithgow, chris penn, & lori singer…nope, no, no, nope. bumping & grinding is NOT a way to re-make a classic. hollywood needs to leave well enough alone.

Jenna@CallHerHappy - This makes me laugh because now that I am a mom, I am viewing all of those types of things in a new light, too! I hate to say it, but I have never seen Footloose. Shame.

Christy - Take some girlfriends and go see it!! It’s not a duplicate of the original and the dancing is better! I think you will enjoy it and then you can decide whether your kids should see it.

jennibell - I have *no* desire to see it. . .I think they’ll probably ruin the original. Like you, even in the trailers, I don’t like the way the girls are portrayed. I saw that Redbox has the original in their kiosks and wanted to rent it tonight and share with our kids (12, 10, 9, 8) but my husband wasn’t comfortable with it. . .so I’ll watch it again on my own sometime. Have you seen the Kevin Bacon you tube video (I think it might be an advertisement. . .can’t remember)? I laughed so hard at it and it made me want to watch some of his old stuff 🙂
Are there ever any re-makes as good as the original? I never saw the remake of Dirty Dancing either (KNOW I saw that in the theatre). . .again, just didn’t think it could be as good.

seriouslysassymama - I will never see the remake. You cannot do better than the first. I am tired of Hollywood remaking good 80’s classics. It will be over sexed as most of the teen movies these days.

Tiffanymgardnerphotography.blogspot.com - just buy the soundtrack… 🙂

ashley - nope, no way. wont ever see it. Should not be remaking it. It is a classic. Would they remake wizard of Oz or Gone with the wind? Hollywood just wants to make a buck

eliz. - not going to see it. Definately cant top the original and shouldnt have even tried. Do not like any of the remakes I have seen. Sorry, hope you enjoy it though.

Elizabeth - I don’t know — I saw the preview in the theater and it looked terrible to me. I remember watching the first — and my favorite line was when John Lithgow yelled: There will be no dancin’ in this town!

Amanda - Not so sure about the new Footloose … but saw Courageous this week and it was GREAT! 🙂

Kimberly Dial - I loved the original and will probably see this one. I’m a bit hesitant because Hollywood tends to ‘sex’ everything up to the point of ridiculous. Add that to the fact that I’ve been disappointed by more than a few remakes …. hmmmmm, maybe I won’t see it in the theatre … I’ll wait & rent it … (can you tell I’m undecided? 😉

Su@TheIntentionalHome - My hubby and I were just talking about this the other day. . .I grew up with Grease, Footloose (I was 14, 8th grade), Flashdance, Top Gun. I have a 14 year old now and would not want her watching any of those movies now. So the new one is out for her and me to go see. Perhaps my sister and I should go see it together. . .and compare the 2.

Missy - No way, no how. It wasn’t broke – doesn’t need to be fixed! Who could ever replace Kevin Bacon? Somehow this movie just seems wrong, wrong, wrong. LOL If you do go and see it, be sure to let us know your thoughts.

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - I have no choice but to see it.. I went to high school with the new Willard. 🙂

Janelle - Not that I saw the 2nd one, but I kind of liked how the Karate Kid remake was the same, but different – they used the same plot, but made it their own. This looks like an exact match, which is a bit lame. I won’t go to the theatre to see if but maybe I’ll put it on netflix. When my girls are older, I’ll let them watch the original!

Kimberlee Jost - I saw today that Redbox has the Kevin Bacon version!
And yes, I will miss SJP, but it’s been so long, that perhaps I need a Redbox refresher.

Jennifer - I am with you…still on the fence. I definitely want to see it, mainly because I want to see all the dancing in it. But, I’m just not sure how I feel about the idea of trying to remake such a classic movie. It will be hard to beat the original. 🙂

Jenny B. - I will probably see it because I loved the original, but I would be nervous about letting my kids watch it. The new one looks more risque (at least the dance scenes, anyway).

Grandma Honey - I am totally on board for this new Footloose. As long as they don’t mess it up. We’ll see 🙂

Michelle - No way!! I think it’s ridiculous to try to take a classic and remake it. It’s like trying to remake Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles, it’s just not possible to do the original justice. Who can replace Kevin Bacon?

Southern Gal - I thought it was pretty risque when the first one came out and I was 21 then. My sister was 16 and she and her friends loved it. (I guess it was to her like Grease was to me. I was 15 when that came out. If my mama had known what we were watching…) I’d like to see it just to see how it compares to the older one. I didn’t like Lori Singer at all, but I love Julianne Hough. No one can replace Kevin Bacon and Chris Penn. I guess you can say I’m torn.

happygirl - I’m such a purist. I mean, really, who could replace Kevin Bacon? And the truck scene with Ariel on the car windows? and Kevin’s mad dance? I’ll take the original ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

Lori - I definately want to go see it! And maybe see the old one before I go… The original came out the year I graduated from college and I loved it then.

Christy - I got free passes for a screening of the new movie and took my two teenagers (14 & 17). The movie was pretty good, definitely pushed the envelope as far as a PG movie rating but overall not too bad. The original came out my senior year of high school, so it was kind of odd to take my senior child to the same movie! There are some suggestive sex scenes but I think it does convey the message (especially by the end of the movie) that it’s not the right thing to do. No I don’t want to think about my kids doing any of the dangerous things in the movie, but the overall theme was that they are kids and can’t be proven to be trustworthy unless we actually trust them. I would take your teens to see it – at least it can open the door for discussions if needed!!!

Kerry - oh my gosh i’ve never seen it.. im so lame! i know the song… does that count??? 😛 xx

Holly - I have to say that I dont think I have even seen the original! Sad, right? I guess I should watch it first, huh?
