i did a little treasure hunting yesterday.
i was searching for vintage trims and ribbons for craft weekend projects but also found a few other lovelies that needed a good home.

a sweet little handstitched cloth.                                    a grayish/green/pink bark cloth curtain panel.

the brightest yellow daisy bowl with lid…. i think it's dreamy.

a colorful vase covered in poppies.

IMG_0604-23
a globe…duh.   (it was $10.  there were two others at the same antique store that were $25 and $28 score!)
vintage pillowcases
a sweet little wood box painted green with a decopaged rose.
lots of vintage lace trim.

IMG_0606-24

and a milk glass bowl that i filled up with old wood spools.

IMG_0607-25
sometimes when i am out looking for fun antiques…i find nothing.
but then days like this make it super fun.

MegrainbowstripeSKINNY

after the feb. craft weekend i decided to not have any sweets or junky sugary foods until the next CW.
sugared cereals, desserts, candy, ice cream, etc
50 days.
i am at day 49.
i thought it would help with my running/training for the Half Marathon (25 days away…..AAAAAaaaa!!!!)

i broke my own rule twice.
once for cheesecake at ashley's. (and probably breakfast there too…so good)
and once for a cinnamon roll made by pam.

now i get to enjoy craft weekend guilt free!  woo-hoo!

Images

then i will go back to NO sugary stuff again.
i just made it up and work it out for me as i go… but i have noticed a difference in my running.
i feel lighter.

waffle got his spring haircut.

waffle is a goldendoodle.
we shave his hair because when it's long like the picture he gets really dirty and smelley.
also he only sheds when his hair is shaggy.
he always prances around when he gets home from the groomer.
he is a happy dog.

Becky - those swag pictures just make me happy! 🙂 love it!

Lorie - You find the BEST stuff! I’m also a huge Mad Men fan, but we don’t have cable, so we watch it on Netflix the year after. Lame, but still fun!

jaimie - Awesome!
PS…saw this on Pinterest and thought you’d like it…
http://pinterest.com/pin/196469602466529069/

jeanne - I have been counting down ALL week!!!!! I can not wait.

patty - O. Mi. Good. Mad. Men.
My husband and I just started watching Mad Men last week. We are obsessed, staying up late, watching 4-5 episodes in a night! We need to watch all of season 5 by Sunday night so we are all caught up! Ugh! The stress. This is a really great show, I dont know what took us so long ; )
Have fun at craft weekend! I love checking out the recap and would love to go, but its not in the cards any time soon ; )

jody - Whew! im not the only one – let’s start a MM groupie site! ha! I have a huge-o crush on Don. my hubby (yes, he knows of my crush!!) & I have been catching up on past seasons and are almost to season 6!! such a great show. can’t wait to watch!!
Meg, love seeing your finds on antique trips!! so fun.
Can’t wait to see photos of craft weekend!

kate@stillroomtogrow - I’m excited to see another fun craft weekend!! Waffle looks so handsome….my pup prances around after the groomers too.

Lisa - Aw, I really like the embroidered cloth, and the bright, cheery daisy bowl. I was thinking of going out to “the barn” this weekend, but I guess I’d better stay away and leave plenty of room for the craft weekend ladies! Have fun!

Jessica/littlepumpkingrace - What a fun post!!
Oh, how I wish I was going to Craft Weekend!!! I’ve been on the waiting list since the very beginning and hope to one day get the chance one of these days!!! Have fun!

Lindsey - Love your thrift store finds! I need a thrift store fix! I have been toying around with the idea of no sugar for a period of time. I think it would be good for me. Have fun at craft weekend! I would love to go back to CW~ So wonderful!~

Alicia @ La Famille - love your randomness…it’s so inspiring!! 🙂
a. MAD MEN!!! I have a serious infatuation with Don. it’s bad. i’m ashamed. i’m also nine months pregnant with an infatuation with Don Draper. gaaaa!!!! Also, I can’t stand megan. It’s not that I’m jealous. I would want to smack her if Don was a dog…she just gets under my skin!!! gaaaaa again!!!
b. I am dying for a cinnamon roll now. thanks. DYING.
c. I know the key to losing my baby weight in a few weeks will be sugar. Gotta give it up too. I like doing challenges like that with myself. Go GIRL!!!

jodie - Waffle looks dashing sporting his spring attire!!!

Gina - I will be on my couch Sunday night as happy as can be too!!, I love their clothes! Great finds at the thrift. Have a fun craft weekend. Cute little chicks post and darling photos!,

Kate - Have a wonderful time! Hugs!

Lori Danelle - My Mom has the whole sheet set that match those pillow cases. . . Might be able to convince Jeff or Joni to sneak them out of the house. Just an idea. 😉

Organic Aspirations - I love the God is Love plate, and I love the yellow container too. Thanks for sharing such happiness!

Tiffany - 1) I have never watched Mad Men… I should give it a try! 2) Cute vintage finds! 3) I admire your strength giving up sugars. I did that for lent last year. 40 days and I could hardly handle it. I gave up Facebook this year instead. I was just thinking today that I have eaten so much Easter candy today I wished it was a food group. 4) YEAH for craft weekend! Have SO much fun! I’ll be IG stalking, as always. Our group is starting to plan a reunion at the craft house!!! Hope it all works out! That would be fantastic! 🙂 MISS YOU!

Linda - looks fabulous! thank you I needed some pretty eye candy to help cheer me up!

Kristin S - That does it, I’m moving to Kansas.
(Actually, I’ll be driving through in mid-June and again the end of July. Any places we shouldn’t miss? All I ever see is I-70)

stephany @ home is what you make it - Oh, I cannot wait to be there for craft weekend!!

Karie W - CAn’t ait to see how this craft weekend goes. Love to see all the great things you create.

Skinnysideways

well….thank you so much for all the shop orders yesterday!

all the rainbow hoodies and bunting were gone in minutes.

almost all the pillows are gone too…but not quite.

my favorite one is still there!
the white background with happy colored hearts…. i LOVE that one so much.

so yeah….. YOU are awesome.

thank you for blessing my little shop.

i have even more maps (overseas places) and sold SO MANY already!
aren't those maps so much fun?!  :)

i am going to restock all the prints on monday.

also on monday the orders will begin to be packaged and shipped.
it's going to be lots of work.  (very fun work)
i would love to start today but both my boys have seperate basketball tournaments going on ALL day saturday and sunday.

so i will be sitting in random gyms for hours and hours.

good times.

i went out with my running buddies last night…we saw Admission.
very clean and cute movie.
and we went out for YUMMY dinner…. i love good food!
too much.

what are YOU doing this weekend?
and also… what are you EATING this weekend?  ;)

Skinnysideways

Melissa - Ok 1) my “Gerry” = Grrr…that’s fun autocorrect for you. 2). On a whim I thought I’d check back before I went to bed to see if you had restocked … AND I GOT TO ORDER MY PRINT! So stinking excited…as if you couldn’t tell ;). Thank you Meg for blessing us with your style and talent. You inspire me. 🙂

Melissa - Gerry! Missed the Whatever print AGAIN! Lol! I’ve only been waiting like two years to be able to score one lol! Oh well..I’ll keep checking in the hopes that I’ll get to score one 🙂

Amy - Aaargh! Missed the bee in flight print again! When will you re-re-stock?? 🙂 I want that for my daughter’s room.

Sarah Wolfe - I ate at Torchy’s Tacos with my hubby last night. It’s a chain that just came to Fort Worth from Austin. It’s so yummy… fried avacado tacos and such. Your shop was awesome. I didn’t get to partake in the goodies, but I’m determined to hit the fabric store soon and start my LONG list of sewing projects 🙂

Katey Deasy - Love your new shop site. I got the Mississippi Map. Born in MS so love that! Yeah!!!

Chelsea - Is there any chance you have a vintage PANAMA map???? If so I want it and the Utah map. Let me know
Thanks a bunch!!!

Southern Gal - After church we’ll be sitting inside, playing games because it’s rainy here. I made a huge batch of brownies for the first time in a long time. My boys are loving me right now. 😉

Tiffany - Good for you! I’m so happy your shop is such a success! This weekend… Well, my Grandma may be in her final days. So, lots of spending time with her. Also, tonight my hubby took Olivia to an overnight at Grandpa and Grandma’s, and he took Henry along for the ride. I am able to enjoy a few hours of the house to myself. That has only happened once or twice since Olivia has been born (5 years ago)!! Bliss. I made Pam’s cheesecake for an early Easter celebration tomorrow. So I’m going to eat that! 🙂

Julie S - Chili and cinnamon rolls are what’s for dinner here on this cold spring day. Tomorrow will be cleaning out the fridge meals.

kim - I am eating Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream. Have you ever tried it? Our 5th & 6th graders that we teach at church recommended it, and I must say it is really yummy!
By the way, I saw bicycle fabric in one of your posts a week or two ago and was wondering if you’ve done any pillows with it? Can I order them from you?

Sara Torbett - 🙂 glad your shop is doing so well! It is just gorgeous and cheery. We are eating Brussels sprouts (roasted, soooo good!), sautéed kale, chicken, and bread from our local bakery that is so, so good. It’s from The Little Bread Company in Fayetteville ( ar) 🙂 happy weekend to you!

Kirsten J - I am sitting at the softball fields in Tacoma. And while we had two inches of snow yesterday (seriously….no snow all wet winter long….and in March!!!), it was a cold start but the sun is shining.

Becky - oooooh – i am OH so glad that i scored some of that bunting! take your time shipping – i know that’s a BIG job! 🙂 happy weekend!

KirstenP - I’m making Hash Brown Soup with Chicken. It’s made with frozen shredded hash browns and cream cheese and shredded carrots and seasoned chicken tenderloins and Orrington Farms Chicken broth base and seasoning. Yummy!

Amanda - I’m sad I didn’t get any bunting – can’t wait until you re-stock 🙂

Heather - Darn I was way too slow to grab the rainbow hoodies, I hope you make more, I know my daughter would swoon over one:) Too bad I didn’t get a chance to grab one, how much are they?

Felicity - I’m just not quick enough! Never mind, next time you make some rainbow hoodies I will be ready! Do you know what I think would be even more awesome? Grey hoodies with a rainbow. Like a grey, rainy sky, with a beautiful rainbow. Plus I have babies. Who wipe their hands on me hourly at least. White is no good any more!
Today we are having roasted squash and gnocchi. Weightwatchers. Because that’s how we roll here on a Saturday. Hope they win the basketball.
Xx

Janelle - Can’t wait to get my order! I stopped by the shop this morning and saw you had a West Indies map – I scooped that up too! Can’t wait to frame and hang it in our West Indies home!

Meg Duerksen - they will be ordered on monday and they take about a week. 🙂

Kari - how do you like big cartel? maybe i should move my shop there…
eating chili today (yum!) and chicken fajitas from the crockin’ girls site tomorrow – hope the recipe turns out well…
have fun at basketball!

Pat Schmidt - Ummmmm – this weekend? Basketball of course!!!

Mel - when will the canvas prints be shipped?

Share on FacebookTweet this PostPin Images to PinterestBack to Top

random wednesday post.

i am taking a little road trip today for one night.
i need a change of scenery!

those snow days were fun but i am over being inside.
i am ready for green grass.  green trees.  camp fires.  dinner on the porch.  morning coffee outside in the sunrise.

IMG_9413

IMG_9419

we had just enough time yesterday and things were quiet so i said "anyone want to paint with me?"

they did.

IMG_9418

IMG_9423
it was relaxing and much needed.

then we took off to annie's soccer game where she scored a goal!

then went to walmart with talby and realized at the checkout i had left my wallet at home.
and a friend came to walmart and paid for my groceries for me….

she was awesome.

this was view on my run today.

IMG_0085

i walked a half, ran one mile, walked a quarter, ran 1.5, walked a .25, and then ran 1.25… then walked .25 again.

wasn't that an exciting recap?!

AND about the shop.

i think for my sanity's sake…. because of spring break, my little trip and LIFE….

it's going to open on wednesday March 20.

and it will be awesome.

alright…. i am out of here.

Prairie Jenn - And love that view of the road…looks like home to me:)

Erica - Used this tutorial today with the kids. http://www.artprojectsforkids.org/2013/01/watercolor-for-elephants-tutorial.html
While I was doing it, I thought it was right up your alley. You may have been the one who pointed us to the tutorial in the first place–can’t remember how I found it. 🙂

Necole @seriouslysassymama - Oh I would love to take a road trip. Just me and some antique shops. Maybe this summer. Knowing me though, I will probably take my girls.

Tracy - I’m so confused! Did you have a snow day yesterday?? If so, where’s the snow?

Angie - Enjoy that mini trip my friend. Sometimes just a change of scenery can make all the difference in our moods!

Tiffany - I hope you and Kimberlee have a fun mini-roadtrip! Thanks for sharing those painting pics. Olivia was begging me to paint last night, but it just got too late. That would be a perfect project for her!
Good luck with the re-opening of your shop!

Lori Austin - That last picture seems to be saying it’s spring…..can we hope?!
I’ve had a good friend come pay for my groceries at Wal-mart before also.
Aren’t we thankful for friends?!
Enjoy your day away.

Tiffany - Run, walk, run, walk…. Still circling those on the couch, including me, ha! Keep up the good work. Enjoy ur day off – hope it rocks like Craft Weekends only with you do the relaxing and crafting and being inspired. Enjoy it.

Emily - I want to paint with you! In fact, I just might pick up some watercolors this weekend. Inspiring!

Gina - Your girls made some pretty pictures!! Have a fun get away!!

tara - can’t wait to see your shop!!!
it’s going to be awesome….full of COLOR!
and way to GO on the walking/running…so impressed!

CathyC - OK, where is this trip, that I’m sure is awesome…..

Sarah{Handbags*N*Pigtails} - Imagine my delight when daughter #2 was able to fit into our rainbow hoodie that I’d bought for daughter #1 a couple years back. She wore it to gymnastics last night and looked adorable as she ran her first few laps…then she got HOT. 🙂
March 20th will be a good day for you for sure!

jack - Have a great trip!

angela - March 20….on my calendar!!!!

Lindsay - Ditto on being so over snow days!!!

Lisa - I am so ready for nice weather too. I live in the high desert of Oregon and we have THE best summers! Cannot wait! 🙂 And I am really, REALLY hoping I get one of those adorable sweatshirts for my 6 yr old. Love those!

Heather Simnitt - You are a tease, Meg! I was so hoping this was the “random post” telling me to visit your shop and do some serious SHOPPING!
There was something about yesterday, my girls and I sat for 2.5 hours and did a couple of really cute crafts I found on Pinterest. It was so relaxing and I really didn’t want to stop to do the run to ballet class. Oh well – it was fab while it lasted!
Have a lovely getaway!

jamie - i so need an 11×14 of the bubble gum machine and paints! you’ve been a busy girl. on a totally random side note: the hubs ran his second 5K last weekend. first one in the freezing cold snow. i was so nervous. he said it was super hard to catch his breath, he coughed A LOT after the run, and he was very tired and sore all day. his first 5K was in much warmer weather {thanksgiving in alabama}

hi.

IMG_9391

our neighbor got more chickens.
they are growing and getting bigger out in the barn.
the door is locked to keep them IN so all we can do is look through the window like looking at a baby in the hospital nursery.
but i have been watching what they are doing raising these baby chicks into ladies.

for when we get ours.

this spring? summer?

i hope.

i am not sure i am able to say this…. but i think it will at least help motivate.

it's seven weeks and two days until my Half Marathon.

i went out this morning.

17 mph winds doesn't sound like much.
umm…. YEAH IT IS!

redonk.

and none of music was good.  i was just skip, skip, skip.

but…. i am so glad i went.
pretty much what every runner says ever.

Andrea@KnittyBitties - I got that shirt for Christmas … I feel like I have to force a smile as I run past people :). Now I want it in Aqua & and the RUN tee too. Are you training for your first half? What day is it? I’m training for my first (YIKES!) May 19th … just days before my 36th birthday. Happy Running to you! XOXO

Hollie - I got my first chickens last Spring and found a chicken tractor on Craigslist. I’ts been awesome for me and so much fun to go out every day and collect my eggs. You should get them sooner rather than later 🙂 You absolutely need chickens!

Prairie Jenn - Raising chickens is really pretty easy, and I bet your girls will love them:) We just got a dozen chicks this week, and my girls are so happy!
Way to go on your training…running in 17 mph wind takes a degree of dedication that I just don’t have!

Kameron - I had one of those runs the other day. i need to revamp my playlist. When conditions are not good and then the music doesn’t carry you, it makes for a rough run. Good luck on your training!

Sarah - Is it wrong that at first glance I thought that shirt said rum happy? I can tell it is Friday! 🙂

Tiffany - I’m signing up for a 5K color run! I couldn’t help but think of you! 😉

Laura H - Good luck on your half marathon! I only do 5k…so fun! This year my whole family is doing the color run here in Chicago for the first time! Can’t wait! We are going for a “Blue Man Group” kind of look! HA! Have you ever seen them? You would love it!

jack - Oooh chickens! You’ll be ‘proper country’ then!

ann - You go girl! I am cheering you on for your half marathon. I’ve never owned a chicken…what an experience to live in the country! Pretty bracelet, too!

Denissa - I would LOVE a bracelet but I don’t have Facebook..boo 🙁

Lee Ann - Buy the chicks now! 🙂 They’re so fun. And if you wait too long (like fall) it sometimes takes them longer to lay – and then you’re just feeding these little things for months and not getting anything in return. I just keep mine in a rubbermaid tote for a few weeks – gives you plenty of time to figure out something more permanent. This is the first year in a long time I’m not getting chicks…..but I may get turkey babies soon 🙂

Sarah{Handbags*N*Pigtails} - You made that chicken look adorable…although at first glance I thought it was a pigeon. Guess I should study my birds a bit better, huh? 😉

Lauren - Oh I love the chickens! So fun!
