california 8….sequoia national park

we loaded up two cars and tried to get out of town.

a drug store…
a gas station…
a starbucks…
back into starbucks for a bathroom….
then a fruit stand and THEN we were out.

IMG_0278 IMG_0279

we drove up moms in one car…dads in the other.
more time to chat.

being up in these amazing mountains was beautiful and so very quiet.
until annie had a meltdown.

it smelled like christmas.
this was a great place for the kids to run and jump and climb.

do you want to play one of my favorite games?
it's been awhile since we've played….

we loaded up again and drove on to a spot for lunch.
this time only the dad's drove.

IMG_0347
i am sure annie is telling him what to do…she is good at that.

IMG_0351
we fed everyone by the water.
craig got to eat his fresh nectarines.
tonya brought rice krispie treats.
we had 2 coolers.
i looked around while we ate and felt like a REAL mom.
i was trying to soak in all in…be in the moment.
so happy to be able to be there with tonya.
we've known each other 20 years…and look how far we've come.
8.5 kids later vacationing half a country apart.
i love her.

then we headed up to the cave….had our own personal tour.
IMG_0364
it was very dark in there…hence the blurry photo.
all i could think of was Goonies.
i kept saying in a whisper voice "chester copperpot"
only craig got it.  :)

IMG_0367
after being there i decide i don't need to ever do that again.
my mind kept racing thinking…what if we got stuck in here?
what if the lights go out?
yuck.
i realize i am sounding more and more crazy each california post…..
i am not.
at least i don't think i am.
(but do most crazy people really think they are crazy?  hmmm )

IMG_0374

Suzanne - I NEED to have your camera. Your photos are really amazing.
You are so fun and honest, I really enjoy your blog a lot. Your kids are adorable and I laugh at how teenager-ish your oldest daughter is and that you are capturing it all on film is awesome!

Cate O'Malley - Love the last photo especially – too sweet!

CherryTreeLane - I have very fond memories of visiting there when I was a little girl. What a great trip down that lane. Wonderful pics!

renee - beautiful, i just love your blog

purejoy - bee YOU tee ful!!
whatintheworld!! amazing! and i sniffed my screen to see if it smelled like christmas, too. i was sure it would!
and p.s. the peaches looked amazingly delicious!! i wanted to grab one right from the picture.
too bad.
no smellivision!

Staci - I think once would be enough for me too…. I wouldn’t have been able to keep my mind from wondering about what little (OR BIG) creatures might eat my family and make the 5 o’clock news 🙁 YIKES! Love Annie’s meltdown pic 🙂 Bless her little bones 🙂

Laura Phelps - I often believe I am NOT crazy because I am so aware of the fact that I AM crazy.
Must be California. People here are crazy.
And your photos are crazy good.

Vera - Beautiful pictures! I just love Annie – I think I would give her whatever in the whole wide world she might want, seeing her curled up and crying on that bench (since she’s not MY child ha ha!) She just SO CUTE!

Carrie - Best of both worlds…Find the teenager, followed by a picture with a smile.:)
I loved the goonies reference. Every once in a while my girlfriend will look at me and go “Ruth Ruth, Baby Ruth” People just shake their head and walk away.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Oh I just got Goonies at a garage sale for my girls. I can’t remember how scary it is or if it’s age appropriate…I remember seeing it as a kid but that’s not saying much;)
Anyway your pictures were gorgeous. That is on my lists of places to see someday. The cliffs by the ocean…breathtaking. You really captured it.

jsbutterfly - Is that an iguana in the sequoia? Take a look at the second picture in this post. At the top of the tree everone is walking into, there is a perfectly detailed and fossilized-looking iguana perched up there. It even has its leg hanging down the side in perfect iguana style!

Kyleigh - Lions and tiger and bears oh my!
LOVE your pictures… again!
Wow, we don’t have trees or ANYTHING that big over here. You make me want to see the big ole U,S and A (Borat..)
I’ve just introduce my girls to the Goonies… well, they watched it, but I don’t think they LOVED it like I did as a kid in the 80’s eh? You too, obviously. Man I had such a crush on Mikey *sigh*

Melissa - Wow, those are some massive trees.. How cool to walk through one. I agree with you about the cave though – since I became a mom I am a little “crazy” myself. 🙂 SUCH a great vacation!
Loudonland.blogspot.com

Darby - Meg, I love it! If you’re crazy, I’m crazy too! 🙂 Love all the pictures… you’re making me want to go to CA tomorrow!

Laura - Oh wow… seriously… wow. Thanks for sharing.

Starnes Fam - We love state parks and practically lived at them in Colorado. Will explore more of KS and MO once the weather cools off. A state park pass is money well spent in this family. Quick walks, long nature hunts, easy picnics…..being outside and enjoying some good old fashioned family fun. So many people are missing that these days!

Erica - I knew the tress were big but I didn’t know they were THAT big!! WOW!! very cool! The coolest is vacationing with friends. LOVE THAT!!

Joni - This is on my bucket list…so, it was fun going with you! I love all your shots, especially the meltdown and the draggin’ behind all the rest teen shot! Hehehe! Been there, done that, two teenagers all through it, one to go!
XOXO
Joni

rachel - Wow what an amazing place. You’ve taken some fantastic pictures. I’d love to go there…..may I will someday!! 😀

katherine - oh, don’t you love CA? My hubbie I lived in Los Altos pre-kid days. 🙂 I miss those trees and all the yummy fruit stands.
Love the pillow (cora sale), by the way. Still trying to get geared up to organizing a craft room. Too lazy so far… maybe soon!

erica - beautiful pictures! wow! i love the sequoias! there’s nothing like them is there???

Anna@Boogers,Bibs,Books&Bubbles - I love The Goonies!!! Ruth, Baby Ruth!
I have always wanted to see those huge trees. Thanks for sharing! :o)

california 7…snails

we don't have these in kansas.

we have slugs and teeny tiny snails but not like these.
craig found one and threw it (such a boy!)
and i yelled "NOOOO!!! i wanted to see a california snail!"
he looked at me with complete confusion…he couldn't tell if i was serious or not.

i was serious.
phil found more for me…oh and for the kids.
because they are everywhere.
IMG_0250
bigger than a quarter.
the kids kept bringing me more…

IMG_0254
IMG_0258
IMG_0256
they were climbing all over each other.

IMG_0261
they were sliding up my arm and falling off…sliming me up…pretty gross.
someone found a bucket and the kids started to fill that.
by the end of the hunt they had 40 snails.
sharon was happy to have them out of her garden.

T&p

and i was so glad i got to see a california snail.

stephanie - I come home to find out my little one put a snail in her mouth!! YUCK!

Kirsten - Total flashback to my childhood in California…here in the Pacific Northwest we have snails without shells…errr…slugs. But when I was a kid we had this rockery along the driveway and I would run the hose down the rocks and wash the snails out. I think they were my *pets*. Yuck.

Sarah B - I used to collect all those snails when I was a kid here in California. I had Daddy ones and Mommy ones and lots of little baby ones. Thank you for not killing the little fellas. I’m kind of partial to them, even though they eat my flowers. My girls love them. I love your photos of them too. I might have to get some pics of my kids with them. Good memories!
Southern California has a plethora of weird creatures…yesterday there was an iddy biddy gopher (looked like a hamster) at the church picnic. So that’s what’s making all those dirt piles in my new grass!
Also, raccoons, coyotes, house spiders, possums, rats and mice, and I haven’t seen a bobcat yet!
Your blog is sweet.

andrea liese - i cant believe you put them in your hand, i am so grossed out by bugs moving in my hand

Emilie - REALLY? really? You can come back to California ANYTIME and come play with my snails! We fight over who gets to throw them in front of a moving vehicle 🙂

wendy - Snails and gardens are not a good mix. We used to put salt on them. They would shrivel up and die on the spot. Mean, I know but crucial for the garden. The worst was when you’d step on them with bare feet at night. Yuck! One thing I don’t miss about California.

Ruth - you held them in your HAND??? sweet holy moses, never in a million years would i let them anywhere near me…!

Jesus Christ - collecting snails is my way of getting to sit for a long time..because they just keep filling that bucket…I am glad our CA snails showed you a good time

Jess - Meg…seriously? Sorry, I just can’t so slimy. We’ve been enjoying our first week of break and I haven’t had much time to comment….but I am reading every day! CA looked like a great trip.
Just wondering if you ever decided what to do to that third floor….hint,hint.

cynthia - i can’t believe you did that…i would have threw up!

Lori Danelle - We don’t have California snails, but we do have Tennessee snails. . .and SLUGS! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!!!
And if CA snails are anything like they are in TN, then I am positive she’s glad to have them out of their garden!! My husband as waged a full out war on the ones residing in our garden, and I am proud to say that though their ranks seem to never be depleted, he has been successful in keeping them off the plants. (the trick is to bait them with something they like more. . .such as melon rinds, and then just go gather them up)
I really can’t believe you let those things climb all over you. Brave? Not really sure what to chalk that up as. . . 🙂
For a glimpse of the slug war:
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com/2009/05/slugs-like-beer.html

Chasity - those snails look very happy. and slimy.
i’ve always liked snails myself but like you…ours are just tiny little guys.
have a great week.
chasity

deb meyers - I just treated my hosta garden with slug poison…hate hate hate, ewwwwwwwwwwww, you are brave I could NEVER hold those things.
Pic of Annie and the slugs is priceless : )
deb meyers

Kathy - So cool and nasty I hate those things! I think I vomited in my mouth seeing you hold them! My thought was hurry go wash your hands!!

Rach - While I think they are cute and I have always loved snails since I was a kid, living in LA now and trying to keep a garden is very frustrating when these little guys eat EVERYTHING. 🙂

Keri - Seriously? No big snails in Kansas?? Wow – I had no idea what treasures were living in my yard. We have TONS, and constantly have to put out snail bait to kill them. (Don’t tell your kids.) My boys love them too: they like touching their little eye antennae things to make them go down. Gross.

Christina - I could NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do that! You are one amazing woman!

Tiffany Trout - I have LOVED your photos of California. You have showed off our state just beautifully….until the snails :). I swear people out here have 54,789,937,903 in our gardens. My kids love to collect them and then they throw salt on them. They bubble up…it’s so gross and cool at the same time, you missed quite the photo opp. with the salt experiment. Thanks for your beautiful pictures of California. I love your blog :).
Tiffany from Cali.

Trish - Lol!! I’ll stick with Wisconsin snails, thank you very much. I mean, hmmm… I think we have snails? Slugs, mosquitoes, and horseflys as big as my nose for sure, I’ll have to check into the snail thing…

melissa mae - Wow, you’re just like me. I cried when my friends dad was throwing snails on the roof to kill them.

Sara - EEEEWWWW!! I could only give those snails an eye, and then I had to turn away. So gross, I would have been vomiting over and over and over again if I had all those snails on my hand! You ROCK!

Dana M. - Loved seeing Phil and Tonya!! She is so cute! Thanks for sharing.

Vera - You’re so pretty! Weird, but pretty 🙂

elizabeth - so gross — I’ve actually stepped on them with bare feet, by accident in my yard. Ugh —
glad you got some joy from them, though, poor hated things…

kathy b - I thought everyone had snails like these. Who knew. At my house we go out when the sun first comes up, before they go hide, and them pick them up and throw them in the street! We always had snail day at Preschool and we would do snail painting, letting them trail through some paint. Kids everywhere love snails.
Kathy b in california

erica - that is HILARIOUS! i cannot believe you had them all over your arm. you are, like, the coolest mom ever 😉 when my husband and i lived in modesto (ca) we had those snails all over the walkway to our door… like there was no where to step without crunching one. it was gross.

alice - i love your blog! these pictures are great 🙂 do you guys homeschool?

Trish - That is so gross and cool at the same time.
So I went into “your camera section” and found out that you use this lense EF 28-105 mm. I am in the process of buying the Canon D40 and am completely clueless when it comes to lenses. {i’m sure the guy behind the counter is like, seriously lady?} anyways, I was wondering if you could let me know on a real life perspective how great it is. I mean I see your photos and they are amazing… i want my photography biz to lean more in the direction of laid back and natural, natural and natural! If you have a moment I would love any info you could give… plus if you have a fun blog/website you like to visit for tips and tricks for a beginner!

Allikayes Mama - That’s funny! I have California snail pictures too – except I did not touch them…or let them crawl on my arm! You crazy girl! They are fascinating for us Kansas and Colorado gals though!

Courtney - AHHH! Those snails are grossing me out!

se7en - When we moved in to our house we had bazillions of these snails and you would go “crunch crunch” in the morning dew… but I think the previous owners got rid of the snakes they found – hehehe little brown snakes are now prolific, they are slug/snail eaters so our snail population is under control… can’t say much about the snake population except when I come across one I toss it into the neighbors… gotta love living in Africa!

maisy - gross…

Kelly - You are one brave mama to have all of those snails crawling on you. It’s really fun to see you in the pics. Looks like y’all had a great time! Kelly

julie - Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Sort of just threw up in my mouth! Please never ever ever ever ever post a snail extravaganza ever again. The evil creatures have devoured my pretty flower beds and left slimy trails all over. Not one of my most favorite of God’s creations. Perhaps I can fill up a USPS flat rate box with them and send them your way.

california 6…sharon’s house

we drove inland to reedley to visit family and friends.

we stayed with sharon…she's craig's dad's cousin….through marriage.
i had never even met her.
(felt a little crazy bringing my 5 kids to someone's home i had never met…crazy for her and her home)
but of course she was delightful and an excellent hostess.
she took such good care of us…breakfasts and coffee, comfy beds, snacks by the pool.
yes…she had a pool.
and we loved it.
and friends' kids loved it too.

Pool4
Pool1
IMG_0213

Pool2
IMG_0245IMG_0222

she had a bbq by the pool with her daughter and family…whom we'd also never met.
don't you love meeting family you never have before?!
and then seeing family resemblances in them.
it's wild!

IMG_0209
sharon is also  friends with our friends from kansas that now live in reedley too.
2 blocks away…such a small world.
so they were there too.
it was a great night .

IMG_0234
our high school bff's, tonya and phil, who now live in california.
we finally got to come see where they have been living all these years.
and have all our kids together.
that's the good stuff.
SO GOOD!

IMG_0244
they even made homemade ice cream.
perfection.

thank you sharon, from the bottom of our hearts, for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

a thorn among roses - i wanna go tot sharon’s house!!!

Jenelise - Hello! I randomly came across your page a few months back, and check it every so often. I love your beautiful home & the pics of your fun family. I wish I could be transplanted in to your home, with all the fun crafts and projects.. I’d be in heaven!! :] Anyways, had to comment on this point because I am actually from Reedley, and now live in Kingsburg, which is about 15 miles away!! When I read that’s where you all stopped, my law hit the floor! It is indeed such a small wonderful world we live in! :]

Krystle - I’m a longtime lurker, but I had to post when I read that you spent part of your summer vacation in Reedley. I have family there (my grandma was born there), so everytime we are anywhere near there my husband and I make it a point to go visit. No on EVER knows where it is. It is a nice little town though, the Sierra Nevada’s form such a pretty backdrop.

Jo - I made the same mistake as Lisa- your friend in the yellow shirt looks just like you and my first thought was OMG IS MEGAN PREGNANT? lol
From Jo (a long time reader from Australia)

Christina - That looks like so much fun! I love this small world we live in…it’s so amazing.

Laura - A pool & new relatives, & in California… I’ve died and gone to heaven… 🙂

kathy b - I had to look on a map to see where Reedley is located. Embarassing being a California girl and all. Then I also realized how close it is to Kingsburg, where my mom was born and Clovis, where my sister lives.
Have to say it’s not a very pretty part of Ca and can be soooo hot there but I think your trip was during a cool spell here. I’ve enjoyed seeing Calif, through your eyes.
Kathy b

Elisa - I want that pool!!!!!

Kimberlee J. - So fun to see T. Goertzen preggers!

sandy toe - OH..looks so fun…ice cream maker..oh yum!
sandy toe

Lisa - OOOPPPSSSSS…. JUST REALIZED THAT ISN’T YOU. SORRY. YOUR BOTH SO PRETTY, GOT CONFUSED. HEY, MAYBE YOU SHOULD CUT YOUR HAIR?
HUGS FROM MAINE

Lisa - GREAT PICTURES. GREAT SPOT IN COUNTRY LIVING. LOVE THE HAIR CUT.
HUGS FROM MAINE

rebecca - Found your blog awhile ago, have never commented but HAD to this time. Reedley? HAHA No way. I’m from Clovis/Fresno and doubt anyone outside of the central valley has ever heard of Reedley. I’m sure that you had perfect swimming weather.
By the way, when I first found your blog and went through a ton of your photos, I landed on the porch one with all the pumpkins…the SAME one that I had on my desktop for fall….that I had found randomly on Google images. I guess I had never thought about it actually being somebody’s VERY OWN front porch, it just made my soul smile when I saw it…so weird…

patricia - If there was a female version of Norman Rockwell, I think you would be it…Norma-
I always love how you just make life look so good, so thankful and full – ice cream and all.
Your photos say it all.

Lindsey Moss - Meg- Hello! This is my first blog comment EVER, so feel special:) I have been reading (and enjoying) your blog for a few months now. Anyway, I was procrastinating from end of the year grading (I am an elementary art teacher) on the computer when I found a site that made me think of you and your esty shop… maybe you’ve heard of it before??? its http://www.spoonflower.com.
Basically, you created your own fabrics online (no yardage minimum and not too pricey)and then they print it and sent it to you in a few weeks. Pretty cool for those cutey t-shirts and pillows you make. Just though I’d share cause I was pretty excited! Lindsey Moss

california 5…tide pools

this is why i wanted to come to california.

i am serious.
i wanted to have my kids searching through the tide pools discovering things we don't have in kansas.
it was as good as i had hoped.

at lover's point they climbed and climbed as fast as they could trying to keep up with each other.
IMG_0038
this did not make me nervous…who knows why.
but it didn't.
then i encouraged them to slow down and look.
see what they could find.
OH!  it was good stuff.
IMG_0067
IMG_0060
hermit crabs…hundreds of them.
like what you'd buy at pet store but in real life!

IMG_0052
IMG_0069
i have spent my entire life…33 years…thinking starfish were squishy.
they aren't.
they aren't even bendy.
they are hard and scratchy and don't move at all in your hand.
isn't that something?

IMG_0074
IMG_0081
can you believe it?  :)
woo-hoo!  she is smiling.
california brings it out in you.
IMG_0093 IMG_0096
we went out searching two different times.
the second time our family, peggy, matt and peter came along…and their wolf dog Oden.
we were hoping to watch some surfing but there were no big waves that day.
IMG_0111
IMG_0112
annie found a sand castle…and quickly raided it of all it's shell decorations.
she thought the ocean was stinky.

IMG_0114 IMG_0117

IMG_0126
he's up to his knee in this one.
each of the kids were searching on their own and then they would shout "look at this!"
and everyone would come running.

IMG_0129IMG_0118

IMG_0132
IMG_0138
when i took this i said "there's nana's new screen saver!"  :)

i could have stayed here all day.
that sand was the softest i've ever felt.

but we were headed out.
(perhaps you don't want to the 2nd largest ball of twine, only four short hours away…name that movie)
we said goodbye to monterey….and the family…and oden the wolf dog.

IMG_0152
hannah montana UNO…they must have played 50 games over the week.
(i'm loving that they are choosing to play UNO instead of watch movies on the dvd players in their laps.)

IMG_0155

Shannon - Okay, I just figured it out! Lauren looks like NATALIE PORTMAN!!! It’s been driving me nuts trying to figure out who it is she looks like…a movie star…hhhmmm! WHAM! It hit me! It’s Natalie Portman. Do you see it? I know I sound like a weirdo, but I swear I’m not! HA! Glad you finally got a vacation – it looks like ya’ll had a really great time.

Kelly - I seriously love the sparkly blue fingernails in the photos and Lauren is truly stunning. Kelly

Jen - THose tide pools are AMAZING! I’ve never seen starfish except at an aquarium and there were, I think, sea anemones in the one picture too. So cool! It’s the best when your kids can spend hours (or at least minutes!) looking around for things instead of staring at a screen, isn’t it?

juliann - Megan – I LOVE tidepools! I lived in San Diego very briefly and they actually have a real tide pool “park” with a park ranger explaining all the creatures in the pools – I was blown away by that. That is on my list of “must do with the kids”!!
Juliann

Cate O'Malley - Love the starfish pictures. Well, ok, love all of them, as usual. 🙂

Steph - I love all of your pics. Your kids are so beautiful. It is absolutely beautiful there! We are going to California in a few weeks and I’m so excited, and even more so now. 🙂

Victoria - What gorgeous pictures!!! I really enjoyed looking at them all.
Love the starfish especially!

Emily - Hi! I found your blog via Like Merchant Ships. I just moved away from San Luis Obispo (I’m sure you drove through there) last year and moved to… Kansas! We’re in the middle of building a hangar/house right now in SE Kansas. Beautiful photos; I miss California so much!

deb meyers - The starfish are amazing! Can’t you just see a chocolate donut made to look like one?
LOVE this post and the joy on your family’s faces.
Come east, we have tidepools too, but not as diverse.

Katie - UMM MEG! What about I was flipping through my new Country Living tonight and had to turn back a few pages because I realized: Waaaait a minute, I know that face. ANNIE! Then had to explain to my best friend that I recognized the cutie pie from a blog I stumbled upon months ago and love reading. haha.
So CUTE!
Love the vacation pics. 🙂

kristine - i love talby leaning over the cliff in the background of that one shot. Lauren’s picture just screams VICTORY and how lucky to get the next two of her with more smiles! we did this vacay in reverse order… we were married in palm desert and for our honeymoon drove up to san fran and then worked our way back down the coast making these same stops. gorgeous drive. stayed our last night in santa monica. bringing back good memories!

CherryTreeLane - I think this has got to be one of my favorite posts you have ever done. The pictures make it. I just love the excitment on your daughters face (the little one) and the pics of the starfishs’ are great.

Lisa K in FL - Wow! I have so much to say about these pictures!! I love them all. What is the purple stuff dripping down the rocks in the first pic? And oh my goodness, how cool were the tidal pools?! That is so neat to find all that stuff! And my favorite one is the last – it’s priceless and tells a whole story by itself. Thank you so much for sharing these – they are great!

Beth - LOVE these photos!!!! Make me want to take my family there! And California has never been on my radar for places to take a family trip 🙂 Too many places on my list already.

Laura - Oh my, I’m in heaven just enjoying the picts. Thanks for sharing- really- So glad the Kansas family got to head to the coast!

Penny - What wonderful memories you have helped create for you family. Thanks for sharing the GREAT photo’s with your readers!!

Ruth - that beach looks incredible! starfish totally freak me out so good on your kids being way braver than me and holding them. and lauren is beautiful – totally jealous!!

Kelly - It looks like you guys had such a great time in CA! The teenager was even smiling – solid proof! 🙂
We love searching tide pools. We’re lucky enough to go to the Oregon coast at least once a year (the inlaws are there and we’re in Idaho. A much shorter drive then from Kansas.:)) and we always spends HOURS climbing & searching.

A pocket full of posies... - AMAZING!!! the photos tell the story…a great time was had by all!!- I wanna go now! 🙂
Many Blessings!

Kathy - I love love love your photos! I just told my husband I want to go to Monteray CA, never been north of Newport Beach. My favorite picture is your oldest and youngst together classic picture.

Sandy - Looks like everyone had a great time. Hooray! Lauren is beautiful and I’m happy she was happy (I have my own 15 y/o so I can relate). You’ve just got to start setting your camera on a timer and getting in the photo yourself…totally miss you in the group shot. 🙁
Can I go with you next time?

Lorilee - I LOVE the photo of Annie sleeping! Way back in the days of film, my mom and I scoured our photo albums and had reprints made of “sleeping” photos. We then made collages in big frames. Kinda weird!
Blessings,
Lorilee

Laura - beautiful photos. I remember being Lauren’s age. I didn’t like to smile either!
Every once in a while hand your camera over to someone else and snap a shot of YOU with the kids…I need to do it as well. We have thousands of great family pictures. And I am in none of them!

Patti - i’m dying right now…not only did you go to the same restaurant we ate at in monterey, but the photos of annie with the stuffed animal…that’s the same little otter stuffed animal that my 4 year old, anya chose at the aquarium too. so crazy!! but i digress. lovely photos as always (do i say the same thing all the time? sorry about that.) looks like the entire family had a blast on the vacation! thanks for sharing with all of us!

Maria - I *heart* tide pools! Great pictures! I would love to visit Monterey some day!

Heather Mattos - I’m sad we didn’t bump into each other 🙁 What a fun trip!

Nina - love the pics! looks like so much fun……and your teenager….she is just so beautiful. Looks like she was having fun with everyone. I know you must have really enjoyed this vacation

Starnes Fam - Oh, dear. I must answer that question….Vacation! Check my header for further proof of our unhealthy obsession with the Griswolds. We aim high. And, we’re seeing the world’s largest ball of twine this summer on our way back from Walley World!
On another note…..this is what it’s all about…..finding nature in it’s natural setting. Seems simple, doesn’t it? Many parents don’t seek it out, though. You’re doing your family a world of good by encouraging such!

Marie - Oh my…those starfish are awesome! I need to visit this place. I live in CA – how is it I’ve never been there? Enjoy the rest of your visit!
Blessings,
Marie

Lisa - LOOK LIKE GREAT FAM TIME. YOUR DAUGHTER IS SO STYLISH WITH HER SCARF AND SMILE! SHE’S BEAUTIFUL. SUCH GREAT PICS. LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE.
HUGS FROM MAINE

adrienne - fun adventure and makes me want to hold a starfish!!! love the last pic… thanks for sharing.

Alyssa - Looks like such great family fun!!! As always I so enjoy your blog.

Sharla - Beautiful. We are taking our two little boys to Portland next month and this is what I dream of for one of our day trips.

california 4…monterey aquarium

craig has talked about wanting to go the the monterey bay aquarium forEVER.
we finally made it there.

IMG_9967

and  a time-out.
big spaz-os.

Kelly - This looks SO cool! We didn’t go here but my husband and I did go on a whale watch from Monterey on our honeymoon in Oct. and it was so, so cool!!! Did you by any chance go to the playground in Monterey? I thought it was really neat. Kelly

melissa @ the inspired room - Jealous of your family vacation…I want to go SO BADLY! Sigh. If my house would only sell.
Looks like a ton of fun!

Julie - So I have been reading your blog for quite a while now and I was so excited to read that you were coming to Cali. Maybe I’d have a Meg sighting 🙂 Then you were back home and sharing pictures of places I’m not all that close to. Bummer 🙁 But then you posted these pictures of Monterey… I connected with those. In fact, I am pretty sure Annie is sitting in the exact same spot I sat almost a year ago on the balcony of Louie Linguini’s when a bird landed on my HEAD! No joke. It’s was crazy wild and a little unnerving. Such a beautiful place though. Monterey. My honey and I went for our first “parents weekend away.” 🙂 Now I want to take my three boys there to visit the tide pools. How did we miss those?!

Christina - I know this is not very original, but YOU TAKE THE MOST FANTASTIC PICTURES! I covet your ability…but I won’t because that is against the 10 commandments.
What a fun trip!

the tulip lady - Hummm, isn’t it great how moms can ALWAYS find a “time-out” spot no matter where you are…I LOVE it! My favorite place on God’s green earth is the Oregon coast…love the dramatic coast line, Newport Aquariume, cool sand, kites, and giant trees. I could use some of that right now.

wendy - OK, how did you get such great photos in the dark parts of the aquarium? Please share. I would love to master that.
I made your rainbow cake last night. It turned out less spectacular than yours. But it was fun. 🙂

Tracy - Great pics, Meg! What’s a vacation without at least ONE time out! HA!

a thorn among roses - so much fun!!! and the jelly fish remind me of finding nemo!

Andrea from Orlando - I am enjoying your vacation pics. Thanks for sharing. I love Monterey. I went there once. We just happened to be there when the Japanese Light Festival was going on. At dusk everyone was along the coast with little paper lanterns all light up. It was magical. The aquarium was awesome too.

Kathy - Love it time out wall on vacation!!! Great pictures!

elizabeth - The pictures are spectacular! Did you take any photos of seahorses or sea-dragons?
On another note, I opened the magazine Country Living today and saw your quote and photo — congrats on that!

valerie @ Robots and Candy - This is my most favorite aquarium of all time!!! It’s totally amazing!
When I was there they had an installation about jelly fish and the art they inspire. I don’t know if it’s a permanent thing or not, but it was super cool. The windows into the tanks were framed like art.
I’m glad you have fun there! As a Tennessee girl, I’m proud to say I made it that far west. 🙂

melissa@afamiliarpath - i love the monterey aquarium!

Mindy Harris - you crack me up (time out)!

Sara - Hi. My name is Sara. I blog stalk you. I love your sight. Your kids are adorable and your house is amazing. Anyway, I used to live in Monterey and the aquarium was a favorite activity for my family. Isn’t it amazing? I’m glad you enjoyed!!!

Danielle Lindberg - I grew up near the Monterey Bay and we would go there on fieldtrips, little did I know how lucky I truly was!!
I just got my Country Living magazine in the mail today and as I was flipping through I came across a picture of your youngest, so cute!! I am a new reader, love your blog!!

callie grayson - i love the jelly fish too! aren’t they amazing. I am so happy you went to the Monterey aquarium!!! it is one of my favorite places on earth. Did you get to see any of the sea otters?
i hope so.
callie

Kameron - That is so funny. My sister is moving from So Cal to oregon and she and my neice stopped at the MB aquarium yesterday!!

Julie F. - I LOVE looking at your pictures of your family’s California trip. Andy and I went to Carmel and San Fransisco on our honeymoon (almost 2 years ago) and the pictures bring back many special memories. We also went to the aquarium and thought that it was good birth control 🙂 LOTS of rowdy kids there, but beautiful fish and scenery. I thought it was strange that they served fish in their cafe, but whatever!

Lorilee - We have a nice aquarium in Corpus Christi. It is great because much is inside! South Texas is unbearable outside in summer unless you are IN the water!
Blessings,
Lorilee

AshleyR - Meg your pictures are amazing. Makes me want to take a trip out to California.
BTW… I saw Annie’s pic in the July issue of Country living 🙂

Laura - Super beautiful pictures,,, aquariums are amazing. But I think you are right about Monterey(have not seen, but heard). By-passed it on our coastal trip… /?? what were we thinking??? Just have to go back!

Courtney - We stayed in Monterey last summer… more Cali the summer before that… I had convinced myself I was okay not going to Cali this year… thanks A LOT for these wonderful pics reminding me of how fun it is!!! 🙂

Erin - Jellyfish are weird but SO beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Lori Danelle - I love how just when you think you’ve seen every color on earth, you catch a glimpse of the world under water and realize that you’ve only just begun. I desperately want to see those colors for myself!!!!
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Patti - we live about 3 hours from monterey. just went to the aquarium last year. our kids loved it too. it’s one of my favorite places to go. funny…that’s the same restaurant we ate at too. looks like you had an awesome time. love all the pictures, as usual.

california 3…driving the coast

we left santa barbara and headed towards Monterey in our rental car.

what an amazing drive.
beautiful.
we saw cars and people all around at one stop so we stopped too.
it was an elephant seal "preserve"
they come there every year to molt so it's all fenced off and preserved.
there were signs and pictures of elephant seals…and the seals.

IMG_9857

they were just laying there…supposedly they lay there for a month!
boring.
but the squirrels were cool.

IMG_9866

IMG_9873
yeah…i guess they could've had rabies but they were too cute to worry.

IMG_9874
just as i was getting in the car to leave i snapped this pic…then he touched my toe!
YUCK!

we drove on and found Big Sur.
IMG_9876
wow.
notice at the tippy top of that "hill" is a forest.
that gives you a clue of how HUGE this mountain cliff is.

IMG_9898
but again…like the pier…i was going nuts with the kids on the edge.
i mean look at the size of the path and the size of that space in the railing.
what the heck?
that is an annie-sized space.
makes me NUTS!
i even yelled at them this time.
why do they have to lean ON the railing?  just look with your eyes…from the other side of the path!
i could just picture annie falling off the cliff and plunging to the water.
and that is scary.
really scary.
but that's my issue.
IMG_9902
(better fencing….breathing now)

IMG_9879

i am far back from this craziness…standing on rocks on a cliff?  this is bonkers.

even though it was high….it was so pretty.
the water was turquoise!
i just kept thinking how amazing it is that God made so many many different ways to enjoy nature.
this was definitely awesome.

we followed the trail around the back and ended up in a stream.
perfect climbing to get the traveling jitters out.

IMG_9931
IMG_9921
king of the hill.

IMG_9909
look…i made it into a picture!  ha.
i always do that when i take pictures…close the other eye…i look goofy.

wildflowers are everywhere.
every color. all over the place.
IMG_9884

IMG_9888
IMG_9947
we walked the beach in Carmel.
IMG_9953
IMG_9950
kelp and shells.
and bandaids on knees.
IMG_9956
we found a big crab that we thought was dead.
but then it wasn't quite…
so they were trying to push him back to the water to rescue him.
but he was pretty much dead.

after carmel we showed up at craig's aunt peggy's house in pacific grove.
just in time for a big yummy dinner.
so yummy.
how kind of anyone to let us stay in their home…we are quite a rowdy bunch.

Jennifer - also, how stinky were those Elephant Seals?! eewwwwww!

Jennifer - what fun! I just did this drive with my dad and college-aged sisters. It was so awesome!

Kelly - We drove from San Fran down to Monterey on our honeymoon just this year and it was so fantastic. EXCEPT for the part where we saw a man with NO pants, no undies, no nothing except his long sleeved windbreaker! on the beach!!! It was wild and somewhat unnerving. Kelly

Liz - I love your pix. I live in Northern CA and I think that whole area that you were (Carmel/Monterey) is some of CA’s most beautiful spots. We were JUST at the Aquarium during spring break. I love how they have so much for little kids there. My kids loved Tula the sea Otter and the Sea Horse exhibit.

alyssa - my issue too.
love annie’s outfit by the way. too cute.

Hannah - Beautiful pictures, Meg! It looks like you all had a ton of fun!
My best friend’s name is Carmel. Her parents named her after that beautiful beach! I was so excited to see her name on your blog!!
It looks like you had so much fun! I can’t wait to see more pictures!

melissa@afamiliarpath - i loved big sur when i went before my kids were born. i so want to take them there someday.it’s one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever seen.

Cate O'Malley - Ok, the squirrel pictures are giving me the heebie jeebies. For some reason, the squirrels here have gotten a little too brave lately (read: too close!) as well – what happened to them being skittish little creatures? Blech. Love Annie’s pulled up knee socks – too cute!

Marjorie - Love big sur! Great pictures!

christine - Oh, I just love your blog. You know, I’m admittedly a bit of a lurker, so my apologies…but, I just want to tell you how much I enjoy reading & seeing your amazing photos. Even my husband likes to look along with me. You have such a way of capturing the moment with your photography and it’s such a treat to get a little glimpse of your family’s life.
I found your blog months ago when sweet Cora passed and I jumped on the etsy bandwagon. I’ve enjoyed following along on your blog & will try not to be such a naughty lurker anymore!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the trip 🙂
God Bless, Christine

Sarah - It’s beautiful!!

andrea liese - i have the same “issue’s” it drives the whole family crazy, they say we should just live in a bubble and mommy would be happy…it would be less stressfull

wendy - Wonderful pictures Meg! I think all moms fear the worst, especially when peering down hundreds of feet to the ocean. Beautiful though.
We lived in that area for 10 years. I miss it. Half Moon Bay is also fun to explore. We will be there in about 10 days. I can’t wait!

Lori Danelle - looks like you guys had fun!! Are those ORANGE poppies I see? LOVE poppies!!! They’re in bloom in the highways here. Almost made my husband wreck this weekend as we passed some. I gave a huge gasp as we came upon them and he wasn’t quite sure what I was gasping over!
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Heather Mattos - I have that SAME issue. I have never been afraid of heights, but as soon as my kids were born… different story. Anything above solid ground- deathly terrified. I have bad, bad visions of plummitting children.

Laura - kids high up over looking railings send me over the edge. My son hangs onto the balcony at mass every SUnday and I always picture the worst happening. But that squirrel?????? THAT scares me more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wendy - Amazing pictures. Makes me want to visit my brother in so. cal. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Lorilee - Beautiful photos! Looks like a wonderful place to visit.
Blessings,
Lorilee

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Oh my gosh!!! What amazing pictures. The ones by the cliff, just breathtaking. I love the vacation I’m on. I feel like I’m there…thank you!

Kristina - What a wonderful trip! I’ve never been to CA but it looks beautiful.
Annie cracks me up! Your family is beautiful and I always love reading your blog 🙂

karen - I love your photos and travel thoughts. You have such a beautiful family. They will always remember this special time together, and you have recorded it to help preserve the memories. What a great mom!
Karen
http://www.karengberger.blogspot.com
P.S. I would have been (and HAVE been) exactly the same way about that kind of cliff/railing! Terrifying “fear fantasies” for a mom!

Vera - Aaaw, that was cool to see your family there – my mom and brother live in Big Sur/Carmel and I went to 3rd grade through high school there. I love seeing that area through your beautiful pictures!

Sara - I can’t believe those squirrels… so crazy! Looks like it was a fun trip!

Tracy - What great family memories for all of you! Awesome pictures – but, like you, I too would have been freaking out over the cliff issues and the kiddos standing too close – I would have yelled and walked away also! HA! The squirrel pictures are really cracking me up though and I’ve shown them to people here at the office that thought they had all been photoshopped at first until I told them that they were from a “friend’s” personal pictures on your trip to California – then they believed me! LOL
Thanks for sharing all of your family memories with us.
Big hugs, Trac~ :o)

Marcie Bowman - What gorgeous pictures!! I love Monterey! Probably the best vacation I ever took. And now our family that lives there has moved to KS so there goes that! Have you read Steinbeck’s books? If not, you must! Especially East of Eden. And Cannery Row. And Travels With Charley. 🙂

Starnes Fam - Lovely…..we will be there in a few weeks and I can’t wait!

Shannan - Can I just say – it warmed my heart to see Talby with her big toe stuck straight in the air (photo where you talked about Annie plunging off the cliff). I have done this my whole life and have no idea why. I thought I was the only one…

Blanca - I’m lovin’ all your vacation pictures. I do have to give Miss Annie a shout out. I opened my July issue of Country Living magazine and there she was on page 12. Congrats Annie!

Beth - What an incredible trip. Your kids will never forget it!

Traci - meg, those photos are just awesome. makes me want to hop on an airplane to california right now. what a great trip you had.

Laura - I feel like I’m on vacation (except for the Annie size fence!).. issues, issues,…Thanks for posting these picts!!! CA coast is the coolest.
Saw famous Annie in Country LIving… saw pict, then went back when realized it was her! So cool-

Erin - I want to hang with those seals. They know how to get a good nap on!

Kathy - I have never been to that part of So. Cal your pictures are amazing. Looks like the whole fam had a great time. I have such fear of heights I think I’d be freaking at Big Sur.

Ivy Bettinger Smith - I have an aunt and uncle that live in Carmel. Could you imagine getting to live there? I love all the pictures! Looks like ya’ll had such a fun time! I hope you got to go to the aquarium in Monterey:)

kristine - gorgeous! those squirrel pics are killing me! ha ha

Holly - This is so exciting because my husband and I are going to Oxnard, CA next month. If you didn’t see it, it is on the coast about 55 minutes north of LA. We have done all the LA stuff years ago, so I want to find some new places to see. I want to ride down the Big Sur scenic road and just explore. I am leaving my kids with grandparents, they would love to go, but they cost too much:)

pve - First things first, please send Oprah these photos and have her pick out the MOM….you look like a kid,,,and what a great trip! I have fence issues, like that too, a the top of huge cliffs…eeeek~

Sarah B - Love all the beautiful pictures….we live in SoCl and our favorite place to visit is Monterey and we stay in a quint little hotel in Pacific Grove. Lovely. I told my husbnd that is where we will retire. 🙂

california 2…santa monica pier

this was our first stop.

Pier
you can't really tell from here but it's really high.
and i was losing my mind with them climbing and leaning.
i actually at one point yelled "i can't take it!!!" and walked away!
craig just laughed at my fear of heights.
my heart was pounding!

they went up on the ferris wheel…i did not.
doesn't sound fun to me.
for me or for them (me: sit down! stop leaning! sit down!  don't do that! sit down!…pass out.)

i loved the color out there.
everything should be painted like this.
IMG_9775
IMG_9780

after the pier we walked the beach.
it was cold so we didn't get out their swimsuits.
they still went in.
oh well.
Sand
IMG_9807
IMG_9821
IMG_9803

we stayed completely dry.

IMG_9832
IMG_9813
IMG_9835

soaked.
we showered off and they put on their jammies in the public beach bathrooms
and we headed for the hotel 2 hours away.
another very exciting event…a hotel!
we shared one room.
lauren was thrilled.
it was not a problem at all because it was late and we all fell asleep the second we laid down.
everyone had a bed but annie.
everywhere we went she got to have "special beds" (cushions with blankets on the floor)
and she loved it.

craig even let me get ready in peace the next morning.
he took all the kids to the continental breakfast by himself.
because he's awesome.

on our way out of the hotel….
JACKPOT.
IMG_9856
annie has a card obsession.
i told her "you can have as many as you want"
she was stoked.

Shay - Ah, my hometown. I jumped off the Santa Monica Pier when I was in the “Mermaids” program through the Municipal Pool. It was high back then too. You must have been just down the beach because we were out visiting family, in Santa Monica, at the Pier and at Ocean Park Beach about the same time!
Blessings, Shay

kim - great shots meg!

Laura - Cool Mom – You are,,, I totally get the ferris wheel & the pier thing, I have abandoned my kids, because I didn’t want to watch them fall off xyz-highplace. @$!#@$@#$ Can’t take it… I literally crawled out of the capitol viewing tower in Baton Rouge, LA,… I think I saw a plane fly by when we were up there, in my brief view.
LOVE the picts.

Jess - teen smiling….yeah! hubby smiling…yeah! beach, rides, hotels…sounds like a great vacation! you guys make it look so easy! -jess

Amber - Oh no! Now i FEEL BAD! HUG IS *OBSESSED* BIG TIME WITH THESE (woops, sorry about caps) free cards & brochures too & I spent our recent trip trying to limit him to only 1 or 2 at a time. Shall take your lead next time 🙂

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Hi Meg,
Just got my Country Living magazine and recognized your name immediately. Congrats on the blurb on page 12. Great photo of your little one.

meaghan easterhaus - love all the pics! i’ve been wondering for some time now…how do you take such great pics indoors w/o a flash?

Laura - It is so neat to see my “home” with your family! That beach you were at? That is where we will be parked all summer long!!!!
The ferris wheel with Annie wading in the water is something I would frame in my own home! so beautiful.

Nessa Dee - Great pics! Love the one with your little girl in the water with the amusement park backdrop!

rachel - Looks like the you and your family were having a great summer holiday, I love going to the seaside…. Can’t wait for to part 3…. 😀

traci - I hope you read your comments. I didnt see a place to send you a personal email or I would have. I might have to check again. ANYHOW……..My parents live in Leavenworth,KS and are getting ready to celebrate their 45th Wedding Anniversary!! My sister and I were chatting about what really special thing we could do for their Anniversary and thought LETS DO A FAMIY PICTURE. One hasnt been done in waaaaay too long. I wasnt sure how far you were from LV. KS? We both agreed no more stuffy studio pics. Soooo, let me know if you know? Here is my email hey_traci@yahoo.com …..THANKS meg 🙂

Heather - Fantastic pics! I agree with your other fans — the blue wall and the pic with the ferris wheel in the background our stunning. Way to go mom and dad — you make taking 5 kids on a cross-country vacation look easy.

Nicole Q - Loved all the pics . . . especially the ones with the blue wall! I laughed out loud at Annie picking up fliers! My twins go crazy at these things!! Free fun!!

Lisa K in FL - Meg, I couldn’t find a link to email you, but wanted to let you know I raved about your photos in my post this morning 🙂

traci - the pictures are great meg. i love all the ones of the kids in the water. beautiful. lauren looks so cute. love her outfit and bag!!! can’t wait to see more. ps. i am not afraid of heights, but i probably would have freaked out at them climbing in the rails too. sometimes i am a nervous nelly.

Ashley - Meg, We loved Santa Monica pier when my kids were young too. I had some friends kids one summer and we went to the pier to show them and I felt sick the whole time just knowing it would be one of her kids that fall over and Im not a good swimmer… I feel panicked just thinking about it! I knew exactally what you were talking about- LOL
The pictures are great, Im glad you guys had a wonderful time. Glad your back!
~Ashley

Rach - Well hey, you were just down the street from me. I should have come and sad hello. 🙂 Sounds like you guys had a great time. I am glad Cali treated you so well.

rhondagill@comcast.net - You take fantastic photos! Loved the blue painted wall background. Also, your daughter in the water with the ferris wheel in the background. Great memories!

the rauths - love your photos … you were in our backyard! =) btw, is there a tutorial for annie’s dress? i’ve seen it on a few other blogs and want to make my neices some.

elizabeth - wonderful pictures of my town — glad you enjoyed your stay in Los Angeles! The only thing that made me wince was the wading in the water below the Pier — one of the most polluted beaches in southern CA — oh well…
your blog is just addictive — thank you for it!

callie grayson - ah, what a great time you had! I wish I had known, I am from there and I would have suggested some great spots for you to visit.
next time:)
callie

the tulip lady - You know…I live in Texas currently and have met people who have never left the state (granted, it is a VERY big state and takes a whole day just to drive yourself OUT of it) so way to go taking the whole fam on an adventure like this one!

Danielle H. - Hi, Meg. You don’t know me but I stalk your blog! Went to Santa Monica Pier last December — loved it! This has nothing to do with the post though. Just opened my July Country Living and there was a pic of Annie and I thought, wow, that look’s like the daughter on the Whatever blog. Then I read the info and it WAS her and was written by you. What a small world. Couldn’t find an email address for you on your blog so thought I would comment! I’m sure you already know about this but you hadn’t blogged about it!

Keri R. - I love Lauren’s scarf! So cute!

jamie - Good Old Santa Monica Pier! Did you go down the boardwalk a few miles to Venice Beach? That is always a kids dream. Wonderful People watching down there too. Beautiful shots.

Sandy Coppertone - Hey, I was there last summer while visiting my daughter. She lives about a mile inland from the pier. She’s going to school out there. Major in Psychology; Minor in Photography. The pictures she sends me are so different than yours. She had a darker, more gritty style to her photography.
I love the blue wall picture especially the second one taken at an angle.
I’m hoping your next stop was San Diego; my favorite place on earth.

Beth - Hmmmm. A dislike of heights and airplane smell. A love of photography, kids, blogging. We must be cut from the same cloth.

Elisa - Your boys in the group shot- totally crack me up!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Oh I’ve been to Santa Monica many times, but never made time for the Pier. What in the world am I thinking? That looked like so much fun. That blue wall was the absolute perfect backdrop. Can’t wait to see more.

thatgirlblogs - Do you ever get tired of hearing how much we love your pictures?

Heather Anuta - Great pictures! I was just in Santa Monica (and all over California) last week on a road trip. My friend and I spent a great evening at the pier and your pictures made me happy, remembering the fun we had.

Cate O'Malley - Love the one with the kids against the wall, and the one of Annie with the ferris wheel in the background. I hear you about too many pictures. I got nearly 850 on our cruise in January, and over 200 from my daughter’s first birthday. It’s a fine line between not wanting to miss anything and getting just the *right* shot.

erica - i love your pictures! they are so bright & beautiful! you make me miss home as i am a cali girl born & raised now living in the south (go figure!). i love santa monica and the pier. looks like you guys had a blast, can’t wait to see what else you did on your trip 🙂

Molly Pearce - Beautiful pictures!!!!! Love the one with Annie in the ocean with the pier in the background, you frame that one and the one of all your kids lined up as well. Love the plane pictures too, I’ll never ride in a plane, too scared but looks like you all had a great flight and vacation. Wish you lived nearer I would have you take pictures of me and my family. Have a great weekend!!!
~Molly P

Kathy - I love your pictures, your family is darling!

Sarah - I love the one of all the kids lined up along the wall. Precious.
And the one of Annie in the ocean with the pier in the background is amazing!
i feel like I was there with ya’ll.

Amanda - I was totally the kid on the “special beds”. Except my family never called them that. It was more like, “Mandi, you’re on the floor in the middle.” Punks. 🙂

Anna Marie - I am scared of heights too! Definitely would have been freaking out a bit and definitely would not have road the Ferris Wheel.

Mindy Harris - ferris wheel pic is my all time fave. i can smell the salt and fish. i want to go.

Lisa - Hey Meg,
Your trip looks like it was a lot of fun. I can’t wait to be a parent and do fun stuff like this. Your eye for photography is also wonderful. I love looking at your pictures.
Take care,
Lisa

Lori Danelle - I hear ya about the ferris wheel!!! I hate heights! I can do any roller coaster before I’ll even consider a ferris wheel. I HATE THEM!!!! I know it’s irrational, but you just learn you’re limits!
http://loridanelle.blogspot.com

Mandi - Santa Monica pier is the MOST AMAZING place I have ever been. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Angela - You are the coolest mom.

Jenn Thomas - These makes me miss the ocean so much!

Nina - I just love the pics! Especially of all of the kids against that awesome blue wall…….def, frame worthy!! haha
