31BITS has a big announcement today!
they are starting a new adventure working with Artisans in Bali!!!
.
it’s a whole new look going on at 31BITS but the mission is the same!
——————————————————————————————————–
Why Bali?
Indonesia is a known for cheap labor.
Its low national minimum wage makes it appealing for companies to relocate their factories there.
But a low cost to a company means a high cost to the factory workers.
Many Indonesians find themselves in low paying, unsafe working conditions.
Often kids are pulled out of school to work in a factory or beg on the streets.
Indonesia is rich with skill and resources, but there is a deep need for raising the bar when it comes to ethical work standards.

How It’s Made
The art of making jewelry from brass takes an incredible amount of skill.
It is expressive, intricate, and meticulous. Every 31 Bits piece tells a story, because it was handmade by a real person, with attention and care for every detail.
you can watch the video of the process – it’s so cool!
one of my favorite pages on the 31Bits site is the link to all the Artisans.
there are so many beautiful Ugandan women that have been empowered through the job opportunity at 31Bits.
lives are changed by getting the chance to earn their own wages and getting an education.
and now…. the faces of Artisans in Bali will continue to grow and fill that page as well!
i went through the shop today and picked out some of the pieces that i would like to have around my neck!
i just love knowing that when i am wearing 31Bits – i am part of the solution.
i am helping women in uganda feed their kids.
i am helping men in bali send their kids to school.
it is so much more than a cute necklace.
