IMG_3067-3

the print on the dress is so pretty.

IMG_3063-2

adorable.
i love those laces…. and that sticthing!

her favorite is the SUPER soft sweater leggings.

IMG_3074-6
she wore them for 2 days straight!
even sleeping!
i don't blame her.

who doesn't like new clothes that really soft and comfy?

but….. do you do a little booty dance when you get a new dress?
annie does.
and usually adds a little "WOOAHH!" and a leap off a piece of furniture.

๐Ÿ™‚

…………………………………………

yesterday i saw a mouse.
I SCREAMED!!!

i don't think i am really technically "afraid " of mice but apparently when i see one….
i scream and jump.
it all just came out of me.
then waffle got in on the action.
lauren & i chased it out from under the couch and he cornered it and caught in his paws….
put it in his mouth….
and just like a tom & jerry cartoon it came running back out!

right towards me!!!

i SCREAMED again and jumped up on the couch.

why?
why do i do that?
i do it with spiders too.

so crazy.

IMG_0269

we set some traps and caught it.
waffle is sad.
it was the most excitement he'd had in a year.
he didn't sit down for over an hour after the mouse escaped.
he was sniffing under everything…hunting it down.

someone said to me today "there is always something fun going on at your house!"

ha ha ha

i don't know about the FUN but there is always SOMETHING going on.

Joey Biber - Though the leggings are somehow boyish, her blue printed blouse and pink shoelaces make the whole look more feminine and playful. Those seem to be made of soft and comfy fabric, and that can certainly help during the hot summer season.

karen - annie is super cute in her new digs!
oh and i hate to tell ya…but where there is one there are many! set more traps just in case.

Breeanna @ a brilliant melody - I saw a mouse in out kitchen last week. I was in the living room and saw it out of the corner of my eye. I followed it to the cupboard and when I opened the door, it ran directly toward me, in between my feet. How could I not scream and jump! I didn’t want it crawling on me. I have two dogs and they chased it under the oven and kept sniffing around ๐Ÿ™‚

Mel - Your Annie has the cutest haircut ever!! She reminds me of a story book little girl, you know the kind that many amazing & quirky adventures ๐Ÿ™‚ Her new clothes are awesome ( ah little girls clothes, the only thing I despair over , having 3 sons – the clothes , the clothes!!!)

Elizabeth - Do you have ANY IDEA how much those of us out here in
blog-follower land ADORE that dog of yours??? I am a total “Waffle follower.” LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT DOG OF YOURS.
OH, AND ALSO YOUR BLOG. ;o)

merlin - There is a trivia fact that goes something like: for every mouse you see there are 100, yes, 100 that you can’t see…

Tracy - Ha! We caught a mouse in our house yesterday, too!

Jodi @ The Un-Soccermom Blog - we have field mice that love to set up for the winter in our garage. we also have spiders… both make me jump about 5ft in the air and scream like a little girl!
Annie’s new dress and shoes are SO CUTE!!
in my house, my dogs LOVE to capture flies. And since they go in and out, a lot! there’s always at least one fly for them to capture and (yuck) eat!

Michelle - God’s honest truth – fingers crossed – as I read this post I saw a mouse run from the fridge to the stove – bleghhhhhh!
I have spotted him twice (this being the 3rd time (hope it’s only 1 mouse)). Traps are set – he’s not falling for it. I was using sticky traps – today I reinforced with old fashioned wood snap traps (with Nutella as bait – this mouse should be a victim soon)!
I NEED to get a better camera and learn to shoot – you truly have great pictures of your kids & life. My camera is old and yucky and takes like 8 seconds to get the next shot. I never get the shot!
Thanks as always for your blog – it makes me smile ๐Ÿ™‚

beth - Awesome picture of Waffle! I don’t mind mice–unless they’re IN MY HOUSE! we lived in an apartment that had it’s fair share and I definitely pulled the girlie card one night when I called my husband away from studying to catch a mouse. You are not alone, my friend, in your screamidge. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lori Austin - This post made me laugh. I even read it to my hubby and he laughed at the pic of waffle. We needed a laugh – it’s been a rough week. Thanks Meg! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Jennifer - Too funny!

Tanya H - I scream at mice too. Spider I more like yell at becuaes I’m annoyed that its in my house, but mice are intolerable!!! blaaaahhhh!!!!
On another note, I love Annie’s shoes, and her book too! ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s my fav book from when I was little.

Kimberly Dial - I loved this post … I got a visual and it literally made me laugh out loud … thank you Meg! ๐Ÿ™‚

Trisha - Screaming at the sight of a mouse is not only appropriate, I think it is just in our DNA. We had a mouse this summer and I am still traumatized. I have tried to talk my husband into letting the exterminator move in with us and buying ten cats. So far, he isn’t going for it.

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - That was a happy post. Made me smile! I hate mice too and I’m a screamer when I see one….yuck!

kristine cline - Ok, I just have to say that I clicked on your blog today and saw those cute pics of your daughter and immediately thought “Ramona Quimby”….I loved those books as a kids and Annie just seems to have that same spunkiness….
sorry about the mouse! yikes!

Brooke - Oh yes, I’m with you. I’d be screaming too. Probably while peeing my pants a little bit!

tiffany gardner - ewwww….I have a Major fear of mice. and I live in a 100 year old home…some sometimes…we get mice too! I would have done the same thing. (except i usually call my husband and beg him to come home. lame… i know).

amy jupin - EEEEEEKKK!
and
annie looks so cute in her new duds.
(by the way, and i can’t even make this stuff up, i promise you…
but just as i typed ‘eek’, i saw something crawling on my leg and it was a cricket!!
josh just fed our frogs and one cricket must have escaped!
talk about scream?!!?!?!
eeeeekkkkk!!)

emily anderson - love that dress! super cute ๐Ÿ™‚

Holly - Annie is cute! DO you think they might have sweater leggings in my size?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ As for the mouse you should let that sweet kitty cat in for a bit!

marcy bradford - hi meg! love your blog! where did you get your big pom-pom fringe on your pillows? I m looking for jumbo pom pom fringe in lavendar for some pillows in my litte girl’s room ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks!
-marcy

happygirl - I don’t like seeing a mouse scurry across the floor, either. but, when you live in the woods, you gets mice. dang it. Spiders totally freak me out. LOVE the sweater leggings. A-DOR-A-BLE. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kerry - oh she looks adorable!! love that 2nd picture… oh im the same with the mice – yuk!!!!

Heather - I have always jumped and screamed at the sight of mice too.
Last night I saw one in the garage and I just stood there and watched it run away. It was the strangest thing. I thought to myself…I must be getting old. I don’t have the energy to be scared anymore! LOL

sue - Not happy about the trap but I guess you got to do what you have to do.!

Laura - Sooooo funny, I have a goldendoodle too, only ours is Bailey. For three days she was in the EXACT same position with her nose under the coach and crying. I kept looking and looking – nothing. Then I became convinced it was a mouse INSIDE the couch = ughhhh! Hubby was out of town so I figured I would wait for him to check it out – last night while at a meeting my 11 year old texted me – turns our Bailey had managed to shove her beloved ball INSIDE the couch and that is what she was crying for. Next time I will know to look harder!

jackie grandy - I meant to say there not their. Sorry for the grammatical error in my above post!

Laura Phelps - i want to move in with you
you live life in color
does that make sense?
i just washed dishes for over an hour (broken dish washer) and it is grey and starting to rain and i was thinking about my recent life and my blog and how i need to post something COLORFUL because i am sick of the struggle and sadness
anyway
i love you
your life is in color
๐Ÿ™‚

jackie grandy - We all scream when their is something in our house that is unexpected, even an itsy bitsy cute little mouse. We know that it can’t really hurt us but it just unexpectedly strikes up that fear response.
We had a garden snake in our house last spring and it freaked me out. I was waking out of the laundry room and saw this bright green snake slithering on my kitchen floor. I dropped all of my laundry and screamed and screamed. I know garden snakes don’t hurt us, but I did not sleep knowing it was in my house slithering around somewhere. I sat on the dining room table with my cleaning gloves and a bag waiting for it to slither out so I could grab it. I also put towels underneath our bedroom doors so it would not get in our bedrooms. Luckily we never saw the snake again and it most likely went out as quickly as it came in. I really think I scared it away with my screams ๐Ÿ™‚

Ashlyn@Pinecone - Man, you have got some great pictures of Annie – so cute!!
We have cats and whenever there is a spider or fly around they are after it (well…they are after it if they are not sleeping, which covers about 19 hours of every day!) I think they might even wake up for a mouse ๐Ÿ™‚
If it happens again (god forbid) Waffle will be ready!!

Seriously Sassy Mama - I hate mice. We used to live by a field, and they were always finding their way into our house.

Rachel J - We had a mouse in the house over the summer. And let me tell you, this city girl almost died! IT was horrible! And my sweet little beagle Charlie was oblivious! I posted about it on my blog…… http://faithfulcitymouse.blogspot.com/2011/07/mouse-in-house.html
Have a great day!

TinaM. - I wish I was cool enough to wear those cozy tights. I’ve always loved them ever since I was a little kid.
p.s. I scream at mice too!

Terrie G - I scream too!! Loved the pic of Waffle with his nose under the couch!

shannon - I would scream if I saw a mouse in my house too! I had one run across my toe a few weeks back but it was outside my backdoor and that was scary enough.
Love Annie’s new outfit and I LOL when I read about the bootie dance, my 4 year old always does that little dance after she puts her panties on, crazy kids ๐Ÿ™‚

Kim - oh. my. goodness.
mylie does similar things with bugs and flies.
a mouse would be too big for her.
but she definitely would go for it.
until the mouse moved.
waffle is my dog hero of the day.
brave little guy. haha!

April M - love that second picture of Annie ๐Ÿ™‚

it's a work in progress right?

——————————————————-

530_IMG_7602_lasagna-soup

i googled Lasagna Soup and this was one of the links.
yum.
i will let you know how it goes.

——————————————————-

come read about our sponsors on the craft weekend blog.
i love all the sponsors we had for the first craft weekend.

by the way….

the first emails have gone out inviting you to craft weekend.
so fun to hear back from some of you!

Courtney Walsh - Really, really love that photo of the four kids!! Love. Big love. And not the polygamist kind either. ๐Ÿ™‚

stephen6780 - Hello,
The fast and convenient online store offering your favorite British Food right here in the USA.http://www.britishfooddepot.com/

Talysa - I am participating in The Happy Day Project too! Love a good challenge. And I hate to admit it but boy is it ever for me. :-/
If you haven’t read “1000 gifts” yet it’s pretty much all kinds of fabulous. Not to mention completely life changing.
We just made Olive Garden’s Zuppa Toscana soup tonight. Think potatoes, broth, italian sausage, and kale. It was fabulous. I can give you the recipe if you ever want to try it.
Your photos are fabulous!

Tracy Fisher - I can’t wait to follow the “happy” crusade! And I can’t wait to hear all about “craft weekend”. Your blog made me smile today… babies, kids, crafts, recipes, and happy stuff… all good! Tracy Fisher

shauna - ps. blogger isn’t letting me reply to you on my blog so i have to tell you that i have been trying to take more pictures with my real camera.
the freckles one was with my cannon rebel.
not as “biggirlish” as yours, but still a couple steps up from the iphone ๐Ÿ™‚
i seriously take a LOT of pics with my phone though.
why does it have to be so easy!?

shauna - come over.
right now.
i dont know how to make coffee.
but you can teach me.
or we can just drink two frappaccinos each.

Jenna@CallHerHappy - Love the Happy Day Project! Totally doing that. Thanks for spreading the word over here ๐Ÿ™‚
Jenna
callherhappy.com

Kerry - Love that video!
I’ve signed up for the Happy Day project too… Thanks for inspiring me to get my butt in action ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

julie - Love your gift of capturing people and moments.
Love your heart.
Love that video.
Love that recipe.
Happy weekend friend.

Beadinghippo - That soup is super yummy! (and I don’t even normally even like soup) Make sure you have the stuff for the top it really does add to it.

karen - have you seen the new saucony rainbow running shoe…hey have your name on it!!!

Tina I - Reading “1,000 Gifts” and trying to adopt an attitude of thankfulness so that I might live life more fully. WAY harder than it sounds. Glad to know you struggle with it, too. Hope the lasagna soup was as good as it looks!

Flower Patch Farmgirl - The soup lives up to the hype. That’s all I’m saying.

steph - Oh Meg….love the picture. You are using your many gifts to glorify Him. So thankful to have found your blog AND meet you in real life AND get pictures done with you. I think my son may have a bit of a crush too… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - I am learning to slow down and be thankful, even for the smallest things we take for granted. To say no even when I feel pressure to say yes. To turn down things that might even sound super fun. Because the sanity of my family depends on it.
Even before I wrote my post about this gorgeous sunrise(http://www.handbagsnpigtails.com/2011/11/just-another-sunrise.html) I read this post over at Casey’s(http://www.thewiegands.com/2011/11/tragic.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thewiegands%2FZbOa+%28The+Wiegand%27s%29).
Whether you’re thankful for a sunrise or your next breath, we should all adopt an attitude of gratitude. Not just at Thanksgiving, but all through the year!

Terrie G - Looks like I have another soup to try!!
Isn’t it awesome when we feel we are doing what we should with our gifts?!!

Jessica at Me Sew Crazy - that soup looks AMAZING! thanks for the tip!

shannon - I just made Lasagna soup for dinner last night and it was sooooo good. My kids loved it and my husband said thank you atleast 10 times!!!

sara @ it's good to be queen - wow, so cool to see our good friends…the kaufman kids on your blog! your photos are so beautiful. that soup looks a-mazing. yes, i’m trying to figure out what i’m going to do for happy day project…

Holly - that soup does look good!

happygirl - This was such a fun post. I’m going to have to do something like this sometime. Being at work and having to do work certainly cuts into my blogging time. ๐Ÿ™‚

4FabFranklins - mmmm…Num Yummy that soup looks good!

it's happy.
it makes my laptop happy too.

     i know i would.

IMG_9902-1

5.  happy halloween.

IMG_0071-1

does all the candy at halloween just kind of gross you out sometimes?

i feel like it's just TOO MUCH.

blech.

but whatever…it's one day….and 3 days later i throw it all away anyway….yes i really do.

and i guess it was 5 things instead of 3.  BONUS!    :)

April M - i just wanted to say that we tried the pumpkin waffles and they were yum and fun. (i used a whole cup o’ the sugar) thanks for sharing.
i was surprised to see some of the candy comments ๐Ÿ™ just bc they could’ve been a little “sweeter” ’bout their ideas for using up the extra candy ๐Ÿ˜‰
it’s great to make a suggestion to someone in a caring way if you think it will help, maybe that’s what they meant…
i wonder…have you ever received a gift that someone spent a lot of time or money or thought on and for whatever reason you just couldn’t use it or you already had one?
you loved the thought and the care the person put into it and you really appreciated that
so it wasn’t wasted even though you couldn’t use it like the person hoped you might.
anyway, pumpkin waffles – yum.

Shelley - I have to admit that I am very disgusted that you and soo many others throw the candy away. I agree with above comments- I spend my hard earned money on good candy and am excited to hand it out on Halloween. To know that it is just being thrown out because parents are sick of it makes me sick and mad. Yes, go to less houses, give it to a shelter, save it for later, pretty much anything but throw away. Our landfills are filled with enough garbage, we don’t need it filled with candy as well. Filled landfills will be more harmful to your children then a few pounds of candy.
So many people are giving up on handing out candy and just sit home with their lights out, and now I am understanding why. Why waste money on candy and time handing it out for people to just throw it away a few days later because the kids don’t have control to eat it slowly and the parents don’t have the sense to save it or do something useful with it.

4FabFranklins - Yep….I don’t through it away, but I do give it to the college students. Except for the really cheap candy that shouldn’t even be sold in the first place. THAT goes in the trash!
awww…love me some chunky baby cheeks!

Christine - There are also many homeless shelters and wonmens’ shelters that really appreciate offering some sweet treats to residents and guests. Even though the candy seems so unhealthy, there are some folks who would so enjoy the occasional treat!

kris - why don’t you cut down on the number of houses you visit- so they get less candy? I am a little disturbed thinking that the candy I buy to share with kids is just going to be thrown away. freeze it- put it in their stockings, use it in an advent calendar, give it to a shelter. put some away and eat it later- for rewards or something. just had to get that off my chest!

Clean - I really have to admit itโ€™s quite a novelty to arrive at a relatively โ€˜differentโ€™ blog like this, great job. I expect Iโ€™ll be coming back fairly soon and I look forward to reading your next post when I do.

linda lou - the laptop cover is so cute, and the baby adorable and with left over candies they go to the office with my husband, the guys in the breakroom eat anything!!!
blessings,
lindalou

amber - Yes. I am officially grossed out by the candy. And by the price of the candy. Yuck. I love what the first commenter said about dentists in your area. Awesome. I’ll be checking. Thanks for the waffle recipe. I have an almost 2 year old, who LOVES waffles. Especially the word;). And, the baby cheeks…sigh.

Tanya H - ooo! Thanks for the recipe! I will need to make these soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

mel - ha! i throw out the halloween candy after a few days too. well, after i go through and get out the good stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚
can’t wait to try the pumpkin waffles–maybe this weekend!

Kim - Love the laptop snuggie! Much better than the people snuggie ๐Ÿ™‚ That baby? Gives me some serious baby fever. I cannot have any more of my own but am thankful for a little niece arriving soon to help get my baby need filled! And halloween candy? Yes, I throw it out too after a few days. My kids get ugly about candy and that is as intolerable as the unnecessary sugar & dental concerns!

Catherine - My kids come home and sort what they won’t eat and put it in our candy for trick or treaters, that cuts down on some of it. Then I throw it out a little at a time, I can then say, “wow, how much candy have you had??” hahaha, I’m not that mean, or am I?

Alice H - I send our Halloween candy to my kids school, the teachers like to have it for little incentives. Or their dentist “pays” us per pound.

Stephanie - You have no idea how excited I was to see my name as the book winner!! Thanks so much Meg!!

Holly - I hope to get a new laptop for Christmas…then I will need a cute snuggie for sure!

Seriously Sassy Mama - I ration the candy. I need something cute to snuggle my laptop in.

Ashlyn@Pinecone - I wish I could make myself throw out the candy…but I figure I might need a pick me up here and there ๐Ÿ™‚ xo

tiffany gardner - so funny… me too…i throw ours out after a few days. thanks for being my blog i go to everyday. you just make me happy….plain and simple. have a blessed day.

happygirl - I don’t miss having to have the candy. No trick or treaters come to my house. Driveway is too long. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cathy - I took all the chocolate out of my kids’ bags after the church party Saturday night. I left the tootsie rolls though. I don’t think that counts as chocolate but they do. They’re 3 and 4 so I figured it was my parently duty to reserve the chocolate for people who are old enough to appreciate it. People like me!

Amanda - My friend told me last night she saves the candy to make gingerbread houses in Dec. I thought that was a good alternative to throwing it out because I’m with you… it’s just TOO much. After a few days it has to be gone!
Our dentist buys it back as well. I guess that’s a popular alternative.

Diana - We always take our candy to the fire station and give it to the firemen. They give it to children when they go out on calls.

Sarah - I heard that some dentists are collecting candy and sending it to our Troops. Just a thought. I love reading your blog!

sally - Hey Meg, I was just reading the bonus and saw your comment about throwing away all the candy. I usually do that too; however, this year I am going to save it for our ginger bread house…just a thought! I read an article that suggested using all the extra candy for your winter crafts.
Happy Halloween! Sally

Adrienne S - Our orthodontist buys it back the day after for $2lb. and then $1 for the next 4 days. It is great because it is out of my house, but awful because the kids want to hit EVERY house possible. They just keep saying: BIG BUCKS! all night long.

TinaM. - we only make about 5 stops to friends or family. we live out in the sticks and have to drive anywhere to trick-or-treat. so luckily we aren’t on to much candy overload.

Kerry - that baby has melted my heart this morning – oh the squishi-ness!

kathy - when you say “can of pumpkin” is it solid pumpkin? we dont have canned pumpkin in australia. So would chopping up pumpkin be just as good or is it pureed?

Alison - I’m not sure what they do where you live, but a lot of locak dentists here in SoCal buy the candy from the kids and send it over seas to the troops ๐Ÿ™‚

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - and I thought I was the only “mean” mommy that threw away Halloween candy ๐Ÿ™‚

Lizelle - Oh those sweet, sweet baby cheeks – how adorable! Must be one of my fave photographs you have taken ๐Ÿ™‚

nicki - my daughter’s preschool collects leftover Halloween candy and uses it later to make their traditional mega-gingerbread houses at Christmastime (I’m sure the kids still sneak a few bites, even when it’s old & covered in Elmer’s glue!) ๐Ÿ™‚

Terrie - Oh how I have missed my time with your blog…hope to catch up soon!
Love those chubby cheeks! Can’t wait to see my little grand-one tomorrow.
It’s been almost 2 days since I’ve seen him! I’m dying here!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Mindy Harris - i am working on changing the focus of my blog and am taking an e-course. one of the exercises was to write down things you like about your favorite blogs. yours is one of my TOP 3, and it’s because of your honesty and GORGEOUS photographs. LOVE!!!! i so want to do jenny craig. maybe blogher will pick me!

nicole @ deliajude - i throw it out too.

leslie @ topofthepage - just got all caught up. looove the painted punkins. esp the chevron baby. too bad pumpkins are like a zillion dollars each here. becuase if they weren’t i’d get a giant porch full too. also i’m waiting for a footloose review. you were so excited. i want to know if it was naughty or nice. oh, and our rule is that the leftover candy gets thrown out on easter, and leftovers from easter get thrown out on halloween. serious rationing, ha! really, its just what we did in my house growing up. happy halloween tomorrow!

Leah - I’m the first to admit that I love Halloween and candy more than anything. But I’ll be happy when tomorrow’s over and I can put away my Halloween decor. My house is looking a little cluttered and the candy is now bordering on yuck. But I do love the pumpkins.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - I love a bonus! Yippee!

Rags to Stitches - I throw my Halloween candy away too! That stuff will rot your teeth. haha.
PS I’m so glad you’re loving your Snuggie!!

Heather - Sell the candy to the orthodontist! Ours donates it to charity!

Jessica R - Before you throw away the candy you should check and see if there’s a dentist in your area that will buy it from you! I know there are a few in Wichita. They buy it from you and send it over seas to the soldiers.

Thanks for the new recipe. Sounds yummy!

Erin - i think i want to hang out with your family…what a circus! love it!

Kimberly Dial - Awwww, Annie …. I love the way that girl thinks! Congrats to Lauren & her obviously awesome volleyball team! (BTW, which is more famous, milk or chocolate milk? ๐Ÿ˜‰ LOL

Heather R. - Congrats to Lauren. I’m with Annie. And Talby’s expression=priceless.

ps – That lady in your photos is Gorgeous! You captured them so very well. I can feel the love.

crystal beutler - I need some of that cookie dough — and the wig. I’m having a bad hair week. ๐Ÿ™‚
Have fun at the tourney. So cool that they are going to State!!!!!

Lori Austin - Annie has the right idea!
Good to luck to Lauren – that is awesome!
This week – uggh! We’ll leave it at that.
Fall Break has officially started though – woohoo!

Maya - That cookie dough picture is awesome!! I love it!!

karla @ bluegrass jewelrydesigns - Sitting in front of a bowl of cookie dough with a spoon sounds like an excellent idea. Good luck to Lauren’s team. : )

Jennifer - That Annie is a DOLL! Hope your week gets better!

Georgia - Meg, Go grab the crazy Wig get a spoon and tuck into the cookie dough! and r-e-l-a-x!
Good luck to Laurens Team, and have a safe journey!
xx

Darcie L. - And, camp out in front of a bowl of cookie dough with a spoon, wearing a tie-dyed rainbow shirt and striped leggings. Even better. When can I get away with that again… when I’m 90? No one questions you then, right?

jackie grandy - Meg, I hear you loud and clear. I had one of those days yesterday where nothing went according to plan and it was chaos. I am trusting that today is a better day. I’m there with Annie and she has inspired me to make my yummy chocolate chip cookies today!
Thanks Annie ๐Ÿ™‚

Stephanie - Your kids are always so colorful!! Have a super weekend!

Krista - Thank you for a good laugh today, needed it!! I’ll be pulling a chair up next to Annie at the cookie dough for sure!

This Farm Family's Life - I have had a week like that too. Sunday I dropped my new iphone in the toilet. Tuesday, I was mowing and put a hole in my MIL’s car windsheild. Hope things get better for you!

Kerri - Congrats to Lauren.. My Daughter’s first year of HS volleyball just wrapped up here in Ga. So much fun …

Shabree - I want your apron in the background!!! Did u make it?

Southern Gal - If that makes me crazy….

Tracie - I’m with you! My husband has been gone since Sunday night on a business trip and it has been a crazy week. I’m ready for him to come home tomorrow! I think I’ll be sleeping in all next week while he puts the kids on the bus!

4FabFranklins - lol! Now THAT’s a big wad of cookie dough! I love the childrens artwork on the back. Makes me smile.

karen - take it easy meg. order in.

Jen Brandt - I know I don’t know you, but I love you! This too shall pass. It’s rainy, nasty, cold here and I had to run 5 errands in it for work. Boo! Congrats to Lauren and her team for making it so far and good luck! Talby and Annie = ๐Ÿ™‚

becky@oursweetpeas - Hope things slow down a bit so you can breathe! In the mean time just pray A LOT. ๐Ÿ™‚

tiffany gardner - CONGRATS LAUREN!

Seriously Sassy Mama - How awesome for your daughters volley ball team. Sounds like you have a house full of athletes. That cookie dough looks awesome. i am making bread and apple pie today.

Sharla - Hope your luck turns around soon. CONGRATS to Lauren’s volleyball team!! My niece is a senior and got beat out in the finals at sub-state. So sad when the season is over.

charity - annie’s picture with the cookie dough and your art hanging in the background make me very happy!

andrea - Know How You Feel. My morning was absolutely CRAZY!! And everything seemed to go wrong. Ruth’s home school computer froze up while we were trying to print stuff off for the tutor session. Eian is home sick (coughed so bad he vomited) and the school phone system isn’t working so I can tell them he is home sick. My cell phone was almost dead – and while I was trying to call the school using that phone, the dog trips over the charger cord and unplugs it. And on and on… But I am thankful that these are just little things! Now, two hours later,I can smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

D9 - LOVE IT!
Being a volleyball mom is crazy. We are off this weekend too.

Carrie - Good luck beating the week that is trying to do you in.
Have fun at the tournament – Way to go Lauren and team!

friday.

i didn't mean to miss a day of blogging….it just got away from me.
i left at 7 AM for the school bus and didn't stop till bedtime.
it was a good and busy day.

although i prefer the lazy hanging out kind of days much better.

IMG_8521-1
wednesday was indeed Sonic Day.
whoop!

IMG_8867-1
DYING over the rainbow quilt that arrived in my mailbox from a super special california friend that lives way WAY too far away. i almost cried when i opened the box.
if she had been here i would've.
i felt so loved.
don't you love that kind of moment?
when you FEEL super loved even when you are all alone in your messy kitchen.

IMG_8492-1
i ran as soon as the kids went on the bus.
i won't keep telling you if i run or not but it was such a good one!
i never stopped to walk!!!  i ran THE WHOLE 3.5 miles!
big day for me.
๐Ÿ˜€
and i will share my playlist for yesterday….meaning i kept hitting >> till i got a song i liked.

i treated myself to a french manicure.
am i the only person who has terrible luck with this?
it was not a great manicure…
and i was there f.o.r.e.v.e.r.
i know these are not big life problems i have…i know….but i was annoyed.

then i got an email that could be the best email EVER from someone awesome.
and my mood changed.
๐Ÿ™‚
i hope i get to tell you about it.
but not yet.

i went to kimberlee's house and had a meeting for craft weekend!!!
i will tell you about that soon.
VERY SOON.

i drove straight to the bus stop from kimberlee's.
on the drive home after school annie asked "can we PLEEEEEEEEASE do a craft when we get home?"

i said "YES!"

IMG_8859-1

IMG_8862-2

i sent her outside for step one.
she collected acorns from the driveway and counted them.
84!!
and we didn't make it much farther….the plan is to make THESE.
Acorn-pumpkins-halloween-craft-photo-420-FF1004ALMBA02
but painting them was harder and messier than i thought so we will need a longer craft time to finish.

we ate a super fast dinner of pasta and sauce.
nothing else.

and out the door to football and soccer.

when we got home and got the kids to bed i ran a HOT HOT bath with bubbles and Stress Relief Bubble Bath
and sank up to my nose and watched Parenthood from Tuesday.

and i cried.
because i love it all.
i love childbirth…i love people realizing about autism….i love seeing crisis in family and how they portray it.
I know it's a show.
and they are actors.
i know this.
but i just love how they do it.
i like good tv and movies.
a lot.
๐Ÿ™‚

then i was OUT like a light.
and my kids are off school today so i got to sleep in!!!!

today….we clean.
and make a craft.
and chill.

happy friday.

making THIS for dinner.
pumpkin waffle recipe soon to come.  :)

Salma - sandhya Aaji – Dear Ruta & Marc,Great photos and great pearonslities. Ayanna is growing so cute. I know Sameer& Deepa have tough competions to keep the attention on them with two little wonders around the place! Your friend has done great job of capturing all good moments. Enjoyed every single picture. Also was impressed that you are able to fold mandi’ and take Ayanna on the lap. That was my favourite way of putting Zoya to sleep. I miss her! Grand parents are so happy to witness family extensions. I know they had to wait for a month. Enjoy the function on 5th. All the best

Dawn W. - Oooh, my goodness! The rainbow quilt. I confess. I ended up loving them so much I bought THREE. I bought a full for my bed & a twin as a throw, but when I went back one day there was one more full one for sale… I like sales. Especially when I’m in love with the blanket. o.0

jeana - Hey Meg, I wanted to chime in and say thanks for your appreciation in people realizing autism. Living with this in our home, it melts my heart when our boy has someone around that truly cares and is interested in him. I cry every week when I watch that show. It’s my favorite EVER. AND your quilt is beautiful, what a nice friend you have. It’s nice to be on someones’ mind and heart. Have a blessed week!

Debbie Hargadon - Thanks for the inspiration for dinner tonight! My brain is dead and I need make ahead treats due to kid’s sports – like you.
Great nail salons are really hard to find — we are lucky in California as there are SO SO many — but it always amazes me that there are not that many who do a truly great job, where polish lasts 1 week or longer, they work on problem nails, etc.
Loved the 4 kids with the HUGE dark eyes!

Hannah - love the craft….we have about 3782 acorns on our deck…so guess what we can do today? ๐Ÿ™‚
parenthood is my fave also…i cried during the baby scene…but laughed my tail off at his hip-hop outfit! ha! hilarious!
i so hope to come to your craft weekend one year…because i just learned to sew! whoot! ๐Ÿ™‚
happy monday!

Heather G. - YAY for your happy quilt! I’ve never seen Parenthood….seems like a show I’d probably love, but now I think I’m too behind to get caught up.

Alicia - Long Way Around is my favourite song ever! I even taught myself the violin part by ear because I love it so much! LOVE the Dixie Chicks!

Donna - So, I have to know………are those your nails or acrylics? I removed my acrylics after many years and am trying the Shellac route. Is your french white tip painted on?
Love your blog, by the way. Wish I had half of your creativity!

JustMommer - Parenthood – Best show ever!!!!!!!

Kat - Love your blog and love Parenthood. My fav show atm.
We haven’t gotten up to the birth yet here in Aus though. I am looking forward to that!!
Thanks for sharing a bit of your every day-ness. I adore that about your blog.

Kate - 1) I love the tile on your floor from the previous post – it’s the same as we have in our bath.
2) Your new rainbow quilt is the quilt my daughter has in her bedroom. It’s so cheerful!

Selina - That is a fabulous day. I think you are allowed to skip a day of posting when you come back with such a great post!
I adore your rainbow blanket and if you were closer I may attempt to steal it! LOl

Lori - Parenthood makes me cry every week. Seems so real to me. My other favorite show is Modern Family. Makes me laugh so hard!
Good job with the running…keep up the good work!

Lisa - I bought that rainbow quilt for my daughter at college last year, we loved it so much we used it again this year, it held up really well. I love it so much, when I visit her I can’t stop looking at it, lol! Parenthood is my absolute FAVORITE show on TV right now, Tuesday’s episode was sooooo good, I watched it again w/ my daughter on Thurs. She and I both love it, and she is only 15, she’s kind of an “old soul” I think ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a greaet weekend!

Jolie - I just wanted to say what a great inspiration you are – I love how comfortable and confident you are in your own skin, and I must say (from someone who struggles with self esteem and body confidence) visiting your blog is always uplifting and aspirational for me (just add life coach to your list of careers, lol!) Ditto on the running (woohoo on no walking!!!) – and I love seeing your playlists – if it helps for you to write it down here, no complaints from me!!
And oh my but that quilt is making me drool!!!

Megan B - I also really love Parenthood. I am not a crier at all (at ALL), but gosh darn it, that show makes me tear up a little. It is just a great, great show. Every time my husband and I watch it, I’m like, “Is that it? It’s over? Why can’t this come on every night!?” haha Such a great show.

Liz - Things I love: Parenthood. Crying over Parenthood. The photo of your kids enjoying cones in the rear view mirror. The scrumptious quilt. Great friends. Your creativity. Your humor. Your soft new pj bottoms. Your invitation to get some and be your twin. Your blog. Thank you for brightening your corner of the world, and mine.

Mel - Totally get the tv show thing…these days we become so entwined with the characters they feel like friends, and you like , miss them when the season is over.
Have been thinking about this the last few weeks, ( just finished watching Season 1 of Treme, Davis, i miss you ๐Ÿ™ )
Why do we feel so close to tv characters? Is it us, or are script writers becoming better us giving us what we want/need emotionally?
Have been pondering this, any ideas?

michelle - you are pure awesomeness! seriously.
in so many ways. we have GOT TO meet in person one of these days! congrats on the 3.5 miles. xoxo-m

Janie - I love Parenthood…it is my most favorite show. So real and these days hard to find something that is so good for the soul. I have to tell you about Nail Envy for your nails. It is the best stuff and you will have long nails in no time. It is worth the price.
Love your posts…just have to hear about your days.

Katygirl - I just watched p-hood. Amazing.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - LOL ~ i am not good at the manicure either. After my last one, I had ugly, ugly hangnails for two weeks. What is WITH that?

Kari - Those pumpkins are super cute. My boys LOVE pumpkin muffins so pumpkin waffles I must try. Hope we get to hear about the email sometime – have a fabulous weekend!!

Kiersten - That playlist is flippin awesome!!! I have already loaded it up and am ready to run tomorrow! Thanks for the inspiration!

Lisa - I have recently stumbled on to your blog and I love it! You make me smile. I enjoy your details like your run or the music you listened to, the crafting and the photography.
I have recently fallen behind in my blogging but now realize that I miss it so especially while visiting your blog.
Thank you I am off to update and will be back to enjoy your daily updates!

Meredith@count it all joy - What a productive day Meg! I love that song, Jackson…I remember when INXS did a version of it back in the early 90’s and I bought it on a….cassingle! Do you remember those? A cassette tape, but a short one. Remembering made me laugh.
Haven’t watched Parenthood yet, but a girlfriend of mine with a son with Asperger’s finds it very inspiring and encouraging. Must make a note to watch it. Hope all is well with you and your lovely ones. Meredy xo

Meg B. - hmmm…realizing autism….I hope it’s well done and showcases the incredible gifts of autistic children, maybe it will inspire some to reach out to the often isolated families of autistic children? My son is a an incredible gift that many, many won’t take the time to get to know.

amy jupin - posts like this are why i love this blog of yours so much.
because i cry watching parenthood too,
because happy mail is the best,
because i can’t believe how much annie looks like talby now,
because i am so proud of you for sticking with the running–it’s so hard!,
because i LOVE the pic of the rearview mirror,
because i hate manicures,
because i would give anything to sit in kimberlee’s house with y’all and have a cup of coffee right now.

Tracy Fisher - I am hooked on Parenthood now. Thanks! I had watched it once or twice flipping through the channels… but the other night it just grabbed me. Powerful. I know what you mean. Love, love, love the Sonic photo of your kids through the rear view mirror. Ok, I am much too sentimental now.
Tracy Fisher

christine - I started watching Parenthood this month on Netflix. Only because of you ๐Ÿ™‚ And, oh my. I just love it. Love! I cry so much during that show. Good tears, sad tears, this is life and it is so amazingly beautiful tears. I actually didn’t realize that the show was still on until the other night when I saw a preview for the new episode that you mentioned. I seriously squealed out loud! Cause…hello! A baby! EEK! And, more importantly cause I get to keep on watching this fun show.
Have fun with your little punkins ๐Ÿ™‚ We made those a couple years ago and totally enjoyed it!

Astrid - I just love reading your posts. They make me HAPPY! Right now I’m in the middle of moving our family to China for three years. My head is spinning and i don’t know what i should be doing. Stress????
Anyway, be sure to bake those acorns (google for oven temp and time…not sure on either) to kill off any bugs living in the seeds. Then you won’t have a nasty surprise!
I am so impressed that you jogged 3.5 miles! I totally need to do that! It would help with me keeping my sanity. Or what is left of it anyway.
LOL! Have a great weekend.

Ami - Parenthood and PMS equals a lot of deep breaths to prevent crying. But then she had the baby and that’s all she wrote. Such a fabulous show.
And I have to think as fabulously crafty as you are, you can totally do your own french manicure. I do mine and save trips to the nail spa for my toes.

Kimberlee Jost - I have no idea what we’re eating tonight.
Can I come to your house? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lindsay - I’m not even a parent, but I adore Parenthood the show! I truly have wanted a family like that forever. Never going to happen- mine is crazy, but I love the Bravermans. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stefanie - So glad to discover I’m not the only one that cries at Parenthood every week!

nicole @ deliajude - i cry EVERYTIME i watch parenthood! everytime.

Mindy Harris - love these posts that are just like having a chit chat with you. you have such pretty hands and your nails look good. pretty wedding ring, too.
also, i am a parenthood diehard.
i go to the gym every night now (thanks for inspiring me) so i hafto watch it a day or 2 after i work out, but, it just builds up the suspense.
i love watching childbirths, too. except the baby they picked looked 3 months old…but i guess it’s probably hard to find newborns in hollywood…they are all with their nannys. ๐Ÿ™‚
xoxo I SO WANT TO COME TO CRAFT WEEKEND!

happygirl - Such an adorable craft. And 3.5 miles running the WHOLE time. AWESOME. No wonder you look so good. I’m glad you have friends that know JUST what you love. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kristi - glad I wasn’t the only one crying through parenthood. loved it.
and I love that quilt.
and I am so impressed with your run! good job.

Julie - Despite not being your pajama twin, I am your quilt twin! Its so happy.

TinaM. - love the acorns ๐Ÿ™‚

Jen - Hi, Meg! I love your blog. It is happy and colorful and it is clear your heart is in everything you do. You inspire me!
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about my own children (ages 6 and 2) and chores. You wrote that you were going to clean on their day off from school. I’m curious to hear more about that — how do chores/cleaning/etc. work in your house?
Have a great day!
~Jen from Missouri

amber - Okay…have you seen the comedian Anjelah Johnson talking about manicures? If not, here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsWrY77o77o
It cracks me up, & seeing as how you didn’t enjoy yours so much, you could get a good laugh about it. ๐Ÿ™‚
Your kids are too cute & Annie did look like Talby in that picture!
Oh! And last thing…someone told you about worms in acorns. I read on the MADE blog last fall that you can bake acorns to kill the worms. Can’t remember how long or what temperature though…helpful, aren’t I? Have a great weekend!!

nora - I think I’ve been reading your blog for forever now b/c I did a double-take when I realized that was Annie – not Talby – in the photos.
They picked the best name for the new baby on Parenthood in my humble opinion ๐Ÿ™‚

emily anderson - when will the next craft weekend be?! i want to go so bad!
and i totally feel ya on parenthood. ugh, gets me everytime.
okay, that’s all ๐Ÿ™‚
love.

Laura - Thanks for the playlists. I’m always trying to find some new music, and we seem to have similar tastes. Glad I’m not the only one who hits >>> repeatedly!

amanda fuentes - 2 things: 1, your husband was suggested as a friend on my Facebook….how random is that?! Or perhaps we know someone in common?! And 2, be aware that acorns are full of worms! I’ve been displaying them in a mason jar and every few days have to dump them out and remove the tiny worms that fall to the bottom…..ick!

Kim - you got the rainbow quilt! ack-ity-ack-ack! that is a whole lotta happy that headed your way! ๐Ÿ™‚ it makes me smile just seeing a glimpse of it.
you are a running rockstar. still working on that whole running without stopping thing.
kind of a problem that i’m running a (totally untrained for) half marathon this weekend. YIKES ๐Ÿ™‚
you are my running hero today!

Meredith Salmon - Love this craft. I have been looking for acorns that size forever. Our tree has baby marble size acorns. I wanted to make owl ornaments for my sorority family tree for Christmas. I have even been looking in stores for them, but think they need to be recycled not bought. If I sent you paid packaging could Annie pick 20 or so for me? The pumpkins are adorable.

Terri Christian - I cried at Parenthood too……

Kerry - hey meg – your dinner looks Scrummy!!
I didnt know acorns had worms in them…hmm…*rushes off to throw acorns out the window* but that craft looks uber cool!
3.5 miles, wowza…. I cant even walk that far ๐Ÿ™ maybe i need an ipod filled with awesome music…xxx

Mae - Awesome craft idea ๐Ÿ™‚
I won’t have kids for quite a while but reading your craft posts makes me want them sooner. Haha.
Have you thought about spray-painting the acorns? It might be faster.

Heather - I’m totally stoked about your 3.5 mile run! I have been exercising regularly for the last 6 years and only last summer began to try to run. This fall I have made it to running 2.5-3 mile routes, but I can only run about 1.5 miles without having to slow to a walk for a bit. I am wondering, though, my whole area I run is hilly – and by hilly I mean like large hills – the kind it’s even hard to bike up. I’d LOVE to try running on a flat surface….I bet I could go much farther! But hey – this isn’t my blog – it’s yours and you totally rocked that run!

Lori Bowring Michaud - Umm, Meg, do you know that most acorns contain a grub? Yep, they do. I collected a hand full last week because I was going to use them to decorate for fall. My 21 year old said, “Gross, why did you bring those in? There are worms inside them.” I said, “Yeah, right.” The next morning, I had 3 small, whitish grubs curled up on my dining room table and one on my dining room rug. Well, let me tell you there was lots of swearing, gagging and cleaning up. You might want to leave them outside until the grubs have worked their way out. There’s usually a hole in the acorn where they’ve eaten their way out.

Kori - How funny was Adam after walking out of the store??!? ๐Ÿ˜€

Nancy - I watched Parenthood this week too. I totally bawled too. I might have been the mass amount of pain killers the hospital gave me, or the hysterectomy induced mood swings or the music they always seem choose for their episodes (which I always love!. But, I love that show. NO matter what state of mind I am in. Happy weekend to you.

Holly - One of my girls has that quilt in her room. It is my favorite! I think it is from Target but I could be wrong. I am still only on season 2 of parenthood. I keep hearing about the new episodes and it is killing me to not watch but it is so hard to find time to catch up! Have a great weekend!

Dana @ Bungalow'56 - Megan, I’m in love with your kids in the rear view mirror shot. Honestly I would blow it up and frame it. It’s such a perfect slice of life. Love the burst of colour in the top right too.
Dana

Krista - Can’t get over how Annie is starting to look like a little Talby in some pictures! Those little faces in the rear-view mirror after Sonic are cute cute cute! Have a great weekend!

seriouslysassymama - I LOVE reading your blog. I miss the Dixie Chicks. I love hearing about your running. It makes me want to get up and talk about my exercising. Your days sound like mine minus the great emails, and sports. I am in Texas Rangers mode, so that is all I am watching right now. Well that and Forks over Knives. Have a great weekend.

Jen - I LOVE LOVE LOVE Parenthood. Even my hubby LOVES it. I would even consider moving to California if I could live IN the Parenthood set. It’s so good!!!
And, I am planning to do those acorn pumpkins too. I am going to spray paint mine orange though. And then put the faces on with Sharpies?? Is that cheating or just smart?? HAHA
Have a lovely lovely Kansas weekend!

sarah w. - 3.5 miles is so super! You should be so proud.
I love Parenthood.
I cry at every episode. It’s such a good show. So real.
…but this past episode, oh man.
Kenzie said ‘OH she has a baby!’ and I said yes, your brother will be here soon, and he’ll be a bit like that. And then I just lost it.

meghan - this is my second comment this week. woot.
jackson is the best running song ever. johnny cash comes up a lot on my shuffle. one of my go to songs when running is jim croce’s leroy brown. the beat is perfect for my pace.
parenthood is my favorite show. when christina had her baby i burst in to tears and blurted out that i wasn’t done having babies and it was still in my heart to have one more. my husband was like a deer in the headlights…i heard crickets…:) that show moves me something fierce.

shelly - Keep sharing your running journey!!! You are inspiring ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m headed to my second day at the gym…focused, gonna keep on movin down this road!
Love Parenthood…I.Always.Bawl!!!
At least bad mani’s can be fixed with polish remover….much better than a bad haircut!

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - Love the happy quilt and looking forward to hearing your news!
Gemma x
http://www.homemadegems.com/

Nikki - I’m absolutely swooning over that quilt!!

Chelsea in MO - Wow, I am impressed, 3.5 miles is no joke! Good job! Keep going!
I LOVE Parenthood, oh man did this weeks show get to me too. I cried twice or maybe even three times, but I’m pregnant so that’s okay, you know, I cry at everything these days : ) . I second how you explained what draws you to the show. It is AWESOME! The “thank you” from Christina to Amber and the Crosby situation with Christina, Adam’s clothes! This episode tied up a lot from last week that I felt like was hanging out there. It was SO good to watch.
Have a great Friday and Weekend! – Chelsea

Kirsten J - I get the nail thing – seems like everytime I find someone I like, 2 months later they’re gone. The gal I go to now has been there for over a year. I tip her BIG, hoping she’ll stay. And I get the sunup until sundown thing (and beyond). And Parenthood. So cute with Haddie getting Max to apologize. And I admit even though it was stupid, I laughed at Adam’s outfit. ๐Ÿ˜›

michelle - Oh girl, I am so jealous of your running. I’ve never been able to distance run and want to SO bad. I’ve always imagined it would be a great way to clear my mind. ๐Ÿ™‚
And that quilt? I have TWO of those! One in a full size & one in a twin size. I bought them at Target 2 years ago on clearance with the hope of one day using them for my two littlest girls bedroom! Just did that bedroom last month & FINALLY got to use that quilt! I love it! And it’s such a happy quilt! Your friend is good people for sending it to you!
Enjoy your day of cleaning & chilling …. those are the best. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ashlyn@Pinecone - You had a crazy long day…not much to say as I really need to get to the grocery store (but no I just had to look at your post) but I LOVE LOVE Jackson with Reese and Joaquin. We used to listen to it all the time in the car. Thats it…happy friday! Ashlyn

Jenna@CallHerHappy - pumpkin waffles! mmmmmm!
Also, those acorns are so cute!
And, if I would have seen that quilt somewhere, I would have totally though of you ๐Ÿ™‚
Jenna
callherhappy.com

Jessica - just a little FYI… I made that crockpot italian chicken last night and it was DELISH!!!!

Carrie - Thanks for sharing your day. If it encourages you to run, then you should post about it as often as you like. Great job going the full 3.5 miles with no walking. I have tried to start running so many times and never stick with it. I give you credit for sticking to it. I remember the post about your first 5K.
I stopped going for manicures and pedicures. I had too many bad pedicure experiences. So, it seems you are not alone. And while, yes there are bigger problems in the world, it is disappointing to look forward to something and not have a good experience.
Have a great weekend – enjoy the day with your kids.
PS – We have our nieces next weekend and we are going to do one of your crafts. I think the ornament with the little pom pom balls. The girls are 11 and 13 and I remember you mentioning that even Lauren liked that craft so we are going to give it a shot.
Thanks for the inspiration

our dishwasher is broken again.

IMG_8457-7
we load up and leave.
the moon was still up and bright.
a full moon.

IMG_8456-6
but on the other side the sun was coming up a lovely orangey yellow.

when annie said goodbye at the bus she shouted "SEE YOU LATER! DON'T FORGET….IT"S SONIC DAY!"
how could i forget?

๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_8464-8
when i got home i had heard
Aerosmith
the Fugees
U2
Tony Toni Tone and
Metallica

it was a pretty diverse morning on 90's on 9.

IMG_8490-11
it was time to run.
i love to start with Roll Away Your Stone by Mumford & Sons blasting.
it was PERFECT weather today.

it's 2:00 and i still haven't showered since that run….gross.
i had better get moving.

how was your morning?

mulberry handbags - I love your blog very much, more more info, I will concern it again!

Christina - I have to ask this question…do you like your waffle maker? I bought one not too long ago, and it stinks! I made waffles the other night (breakfast for dinner ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and the batter exploded out the sides and back! There is no way I can see to clean it off of the springy-hingey thing in the back! Anyway, yours looks kind of kick-butt…I am looking into a new one and wondered what you thought of yours. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know you are super busy, but if you get a chance to tell me about it, I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you!!

Kristin S - I’m a week behind reading blogs (40th birthday vaca trip!).
Girl, you have some awesome legs.
So proud of you for running 3.5 miles without stopping to walk! I’ve been running for 3 years and can’t do that. Press on! So worth it.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - comfy PJs. Is there anything better? So proud of you for running. Rock on!

Jennifer - love love love 90’s music!

Lynda - Meg please share your pumpkin waffle recipe – I’ve been craving them all day! Love your cute polka dot pj’s – I must get to Target soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Christie - Ha! I NEVER not shower right after a run….. errr…. ๐Ÿ™‚ You’re my must read everyday.

Anne-Marie from CT - Thanks for blogging in the midst of your daily days. You make me laugh with your words, and your photos are like drugs(good ones), for the eyes. In the midst of a busy blogland…yours is my favorite! just sayin’

Sandy - I can’t remember everything I saw that I adore, but your coffee cup and Annie’s comment are priceless!! I don’t use my dishwasher anymore with only 2 of us in the house, but I can’t imagine your crew without one. ๐Ÿ™

crystal beutler - My morning was awesome — bible study day. I wish I could ad Sonic to the mix. ๐Ÿ™‚
I want those P.J’s ๐Ÿ™‚

linda lou - where do you get your donut coffee???? amy d’s mom need to know ๐Ÿ™‚ blessings

Moriah - Cute post today. Just wanted to chime in that 80s on 8 is what I get movin to in the morning. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love it! Enjoy Sonic!

Kristen - showering is over-rated. ๐Ÿ™‚

Jenn - Love it all! My morning was good…very much like yours. Up at 5:10 (Boot Camp at 5:30), back home at 6:30, everyone up, dressed, out the door to school and work. Made a quick stop at Target for some deals. Now I sit and work. I love mornings minus the whining from the 5 year old.

TinaM. - I had to drive my boys to school so I could run next door to the middle school to drop off my daughters french horn mouth piece she forgot. Then quick ride back home for a cup of coffee with peppermint mocha creamer {my favorite}

Bobbie - now I’m craving chocolate donuts…. not chocolate donut coffee but chocolate donuts…. but I would have to stop and put gas in the car in order to go get them.

Janelle - When you get a chance we would all love your pumpkin waffle recipe ๐Ÿ™‚

jennyonthespot - Run. Gotta do that. Yes. Gotta. Today. Or tomorrow? ๐Ÿ˜‰

danielle burkleo - i will get those pj pants and i will be your twinโ€ฆonly pregnant.
i daydreamed about going to africa with you the other day when you blogged about it. i want to.
have a beautiful day, friend!

Heather - I’ve missed you. I’ve been in a depressed funk for a couple of months now and stopped reading all my blogs that lift me up, yours being one.
I actually started praying for God to bring my sorry ass back to reality and open my eyes to my blessings, rather than leave me wallowing in sadness over the thing I wanted and can’t have.
As soon as I started praying (which I don’t often do for garden variety angst, rather I save it for life and death stuff) the clouds cleared and I’m on my way back.
And so here I am, back to reading your loveliness. And today is lovely, as usual.

Kerry - aaah what a lovely morning Meg! love the bath shot. pumpkin waffles – yummo!!!!!! xx

Leigh - I want those PJ pants but I know if I buy them I will wear them too much and end up sitting on the couch with a movie and hot cocoa…daily. ๐Ÿ™‚

Catriona - My morning has just begun; it’s 9:25 here. Got up at 6:45 after a shocking night’s sleep – 1 child up 3 times for no apparent reason, me and the husband awake from 3-5. Made lunch for 1, breakfast for 5 then walked 6-year old to school while husband and 2 littlies stayed here. Friend randomly texted me a verse from Lamentations about resting in God’s sovereignty today. So timely and encouraging. Off to make coffee and hide from my children. Wouldn’t you know that the one who was up 3 times has the most energy…

Von - Another gorgeous, inspiring post. Big fan over here. I imagine lots of people have asked for a running playlist – it would be a community service, surely?!

Mel - Wow your kids go to school on a real YELLOW school bus…that is so cool. Can you tell I’m not from the USA?
PS: thanks for always keeping us informed as the what music you have been listening to , exactly the kind of random/useless information I love to know about people ( that, and what are they having for dinner) ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Jessica Johnson - um. that *almost* makes me like coffee. almost. but now i just want a donut.

Wendy Hagen - I love your pjs. I will be your twin. And then maybe you could be the twin who does all the dishes and never showers.. I did my INSANITY workout this morning and went to a special chocolate cafe to get hot chocolate with a a friend and her kid today. To counteract my workout, of course.

Maria - Seriously…”dit”? Wish autocorrect caught that…they need an auto grammer check I think…

Maria - I also have the polka dot pjs—white (Minnie Mouse) dot version…I pick dit up last year along with long sleeve grey super soft pj top…one of my faves!
Pumpkin waffles…sounds yummy…

Laura Phelps - i barely remember my morning..it is almost tomorrow morning!
but it looks a lot like yours ๐Ÿ™‚
and my toe polish is blue…and badly chipped

Heather G. - My morning was awesome!

Jenna@CallHerHappy - Oh My Goodness! That is one early bath! Also, I love that pic of your running shoes. Can I ask how you took it?
Jenna
callherhappy.com

Sandra K - Rockin’ calves girl! Your house is amaze-balls!! Morning was swell, thanks for asking! Put the kids on the bus with a hug, highlander grog coffee from local coffeehouse, off to my fabulous part-time job. God bless you & your family!

Tiffany - Holy crap, baths at 610a. Whoa. Pumpkin muffins, u rock. Chocolate coffee, pass. Sweetness from Annie, yes please. Still sweaty at 2, story of my life.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Do you think I’ll run once all of the kids are in school? I like to tell myself yes, I will.
My morning was frazzly, as evidenced by the fact that I just realized that I only put one earring in. I wore just the one around all day long.
ps – Nice calves, Lady.

Julia - I was sitting in strings class with the 5 year old at 7am listening to d d d {rest} d d d {rest}
then same thing over again with g and f sharp.
Did my Bible study at Starbucks while mumbling Romans 1:16 to myself over and over again.
Bible study then back to school to have lunch (good news she didn’t cry when she saw me this time even though I didn’t bring cookies…again)
Stared at the ceiling for 15 minutes….pick up at two schools, was in the car for 5 hours this afternoon.
What day is tomorrow?

Kristen - I love the pj’s! I think you should share more of your workout songs. I’m curious now…aaaand I need a running playlist renovation.

Amy - Funny….I just brewed myself a cuppa chocolate glazed donut coffee at the kid’s dentist’s office this afternoon! Sooo yum and WAY less calories than the real thing! Loved it! And love those polka dotted jamma pants, too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Risa - i love the running shot! awesome!

shannon - everyone keeps posting about pumpkin waffles and now I really want some!!! already have the same pj pants so we are twins, yay ๐Ÿ™‚
thanks for sharing your morning with us, mine was not too exciting unless you consider mopping exciting?

nicole @ deliajude - i love your ability to “keep it real”
thanks.

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - I loved this post! It’s always fun to see how others spend their day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kristi Rediske - What a day you had-I think I know where you are running-I can tell from the background in your picture-Do you run along the creek on the trail?

Silvia - My morning was great. Got up at 5am to swim laps with my hubby and then after getting the three big kids off to school I sat around and watched PBS with my twins and scrapped for way too long. Then I started feeling blah from allergies-Houston can sometimes be tough on the allergies. But I’m thankful I have a child that’s driving so she can run to Chick-fil-a for dinner ๐Ÿ™‚
P.S. you’re so awesome for making homemade waffles on a Wednesday, I only do that Sat. or Sundays!

Michelle Rotner - better than yours starting at 6:10. we’re on fall break and sleeping in.
the pic of your running shoes and legs is stellar.

amy - Lots of wishing going after looking at your blog post….wish I could be out of bed by 6:10am, wish my brain function enough in the morning to make pumpkin waffles, wish I could motivate myself to run and more than anything — wishing that Germany had Targets. Blast.

jackie grandy - Love Target and their jammies especially Nick and Nora. My daughter (who is 11) and I have the same purple owl flannel jammies from last year! We love them. She is still young enough where its not embarrassing to wear the same jammies as mom! I’m a huge runner as well! Have you tried the New Balance barefoot shoe? Amazing! My knee problems are gone!!

Heather aka moreygirl - haha! Love that you haven’t showered yet:) I do that all the time. glad to know I’m not alone!

amy - Our dishwasher has been out for 2 months ๐Ÿ™ We finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a new one only to find that the one I picked wont be in stock until Nov. 2! Love the pj’s, BTW

seriouslysassymama - We will not talk about how I forget to shower, or just plain run out of time from being lazy. Having the husband move the DVD player in the living room so I can start my morning with a workout. Chocolate doughnut coffee? I must tell my sister about this. I wish sometimes I was a runner. Then I remember how much I jiggle when I run and it makes me sad. I guess if I ran I would not jiggle. Go figure!

Erin Whitney - Must try pumpkin waffles! In the past 2 days, I’ve made 5 loaves of pumpkin chocolate chip bread and 1 pumpkin cake roll. (As well as about 5 freezer dinners.) I’m assuming this is nesting, as I’m 6 months pregnant….and we’re buying a house. So since I can’t “nest” and organize, I’m baking. At least my house smells good. ๐Ÿ™‚

sarah - I love your yellow laces (and the bathroom tile).
My morning sort of sucks. Who says vacations are relaxing? Trying to pack, keep the house clean with 3 kids, one sick, and laundry is hours from being done. I still feel completely and totally blessed amongst the crap. That’s only the work of God, because I really want to go to bed and forget today.

meghan - i always read your blog but hardly ever comment. i don’t know why. but today…
on my way into the city this morning i heard the head and the heart and i love them so much! i saw you post on that a couple of weeks ago.
then…mumford and sons. i listen to that song over and over again when i run.
we might me music soul mates.

Melissa - I just got a waffle maker. Pumpkin waffles sound amazing…wanna share your recipe??

Tammy - Love this post. A wonderful glimpse of a perfectly normal morning. Love it.

Erin - i love posts like this – an inside look at our days. i wrote one recently like this – it was fun to pause and think about all that we do in our crazy filled days (http://erinsbitsandbobs.blogspot.com/2011/09/mondays.html). love your blog!

Jacci - it was great morning ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for asking.

Tracy - I just found your blog (it’s lovely!) and scrolled through a few pages (Sept 30th is my birthday, too ๐Ÿ™‚ I just wanted to tell you that my 2 1/2 year old daughter kept saying, “gorgeous, gorgeous” at all the photos. And she’d occasionally add a sigh and a “I love babies!”
Hope your afternoon is awesome, too

Cindy - I don’t know why, but I always love your “random” posts so much. they make me smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - My new normal for mornings is to wake up between 6 & 6:30, make sure the girls get up and into their uniforms, get showered & dressed and we’re heading downstairs at 7am for breakfast and so I can do my hair and check emails. We feed the pets, brush teeth, make lunches and get out teh door no later than 7:30. We have a gorgeous ride up a mile long hill to get to school where I teach and the girls attend.
On a daily morning basis, we see deer(including bucks and fawns), groups of turkeys, foxes and even one time, an owl. Its like a nature reserve and makes me feel so close to God on that ride!

Southern Gal - I love to run to that song, too! How can you not be motivated with that blaring in your ears? ๐Ÿ˜‰

BriBedell - My morning was good. Hubby let me sleep in until 10 (even though he worked last nigt and got home at 6 this morning). Then I fed the kids toaster waffles, got my oldest ready for preschool. Then I have been printing off free templates to make baby number three (my first boy!!!!!) his very own bibs ๐Ÿ™‚

Nichole - I’m taking this week off from work. I exercised and have done nothing else! Which is bad, because I need to run to walmart to pick up a box for a wedding gift, which I need to have done by tomorrow! I guess I should finish the gift, too.
Does not quite match up to waking up in Vegas yesterday, but you take what you get. ๐Ÿ˜‰

AshleyAnn - You have awesome calves!

happygirl - You know, if I got up with the moon, I’m might get a lot more done before I plop my butt behind this desk. LOVE the jammies. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sarah - your morning was much better than mine! If it makes you feel any better I found out this morning my dishwasher is also not working.. such a hassel! Then I reminded myself that I might not have a working dishwasher but I have clean running water! Happy sonic day!

Holly - I have polka dot target pj pants from last year but mine have white dots. They are still one of my favs. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nikki - I love to start any day with Roll Away Your Stone!!!

Aimee - I got the boys off to school and realized I hadn’t had any hugs. ๐Ÿ™ At least I made them smoothies for breakfast, though, and I made their lunches.
I rowed on the lake, and Mother Nature held back the rain until practice was over.
I ate a salmon & egg scramble, cuz rowing makes me huuuungry.
And I still haven’t showered yet, either. But it’s only 12:07 PDT.

Tanya H - awesome photo journal! ๐Ÿ™‚ Now I’m going to see if you’ve posted your pumpkin waffle recipe……….YUM!

how was your weekend?

Beatrice Dalton - Those all picture looking awesome. I really like this photography. I hope you enjoyed weekend. Above everything is perfect for that. I appreciate you.

windows blu ray player software - I’m working all weekend, but I enjoy every minute of it. I would love to see the excitement on the faces of my girls when they get home.

Beatrice - ยกQue fotos tan bonitas haces!
Es un gusto ver tu blog.

amber reece - hope you are framing that portrait, it’s priceless! i love how the shirts “say” what each child is about! : ) love love love it!

jennyonthespot - OH friend! I missed you birthday! Looks like it was simply lovely… {hugs}

anne c - happy belated birthday! the picture annie made is so great! I love how everyone’s arms are behind their backs..so cute!

Jennifer - It’s so good to hear that someone else is a crier too! I cried 2 times yesterday in my bfa class. Once was over the review of the notes! Come on now. But those kleenexes were so sweet. I love how a super thoughtful gift doesn’t have to be expensive. Although, I wouldn’t turn down some diamonds….
Happy Birthday!

tara - whatever you do, please frame that family portrait that Annie made for your birthday.
put it on your kitchen countertops.
okay, that was bossy…put it wherever you want, but for the love of all things awesome, put it somewhere for EVERYONE to see and never remove it.
okay, the end.

jennibell - Sounds *perfect* — yea!

emily anderson - looks like your day was fabulous! and that family portrait is perfect. framer for sure.
happy late birthday friend!

andrea - Glad you had a great birthday! Love the picture of the white mums. I put yellow on the deck this year. My mom brought me some beautiful dark, dark red ones that I put on the front porch in place of the geranium that DIED. Never had one die before. Also, love love love the container of rocks. My kids and I are always bringing rocks home from everywhere we go – even a parking lot – much to my husband’s chagrin. lol. But if they sparkle or a neat shape, home they come.

lisa - Great family portrait! What does Talby’s shirt say? Soooo cute. ๐Ÿ™‚
Your Talby is a stunner. Just beautiful. What a lovely birthday weekend! Cheers to you!

jamie - i am {so in love} with the family portrait. absolutely love.

Maggie Nunez - Happy birthday! love the pictures. Had to share that i had a dream that i met you in real life and asked..how do you do it all? and you just smiled!…too funny…i tried the k cup because i didn’t think it was green to use the plastic ones and because i missed my favorite brand of coffee {yumyum hazelnut} but it just didn’t taste the same. thanks for sharing.

Jen - You HAVE TO get the family portrait framed!

Kim - love your running groupies.
and love that you ran ON your birthday.
you are much more devoted than i.

i think that might be my favorite “craft” i have seen posted on your bloggity blog, of all time.
it’s for sure a framer. ๐Ÿ™‚

betsy - Happy, Happy (belated) Birthday! Love the picture catch-up posts ๐Ÿ™‚ I need to do more of those.

Jenna@CallHerHappy - Tell Annie she has a gift! How cute ๐Ÿ™‚
Jenna
callherhappy.com

Kirsten P - Meg, sometimes I put my rocks from Lake Michigan in a shallow glass bowl/vase and cover them with water. Water brightens the colors of the rocks and soon little bubbles form in the water. At times I like to use it as a centerpiece – I add tealight candles to float in the water.
I enjoyed the photos from your special day – thanks for sharing.

Theresa - What a great Birthday weekend! Love Annie’s family drawing! That is a framer for sure! All the best for an awesome year!

Amy @ dwell in the season - It looks like you did have an awesome weekend! Happy birthday to you! I love Annie’s picture; everyone is so polite with their hands behind their backs ๐Ÿ™‚

tiffany m gardner - looks like a great birthday weekend. happy birthday…again.

Amy G - I’m 29 and still can’t draw as well as Annie! What creativity and detail! Way to go, Annie. That looks like it could be the illustration in a book. Priceless gift right there.

Ashlyn@Pinecone - Love the kleenex box!! My kids are always teasing me about how much I cry about everything…sweet commercials, them getting older, baby pictures, the national anthem blah blah blah. They don’t believe it when I tell them that I never used to be that way UNTIL I had kids. It’s true!!!

Lisa - Oh that picture by Annie is the sweetest thing ever! She draws people a million times better then I do! ๐Ÿ™‚

Christy - Love, love that card/portrait from Annie. So, so sweet! What a doll. Happy belated b-day.

Peggyrice@gmail.com - Annie rocks!!!

Kirsten J - Happy Birthday a little belatedly, sweet girl! That does look like a good weekend. Mine was a softball tournament in Eastern Washington – yay for sunshine! – and then back to the drizzle on the west side of the mountains. Love Annie’s picture – that’s a keeper!

Terrie - Love the family portrait! I patiently waited for my 1st grandbaby… yeah…patient is not what I’d call me. My poor daughter! Praying that it comes soon!
So, while I waited…I went to an awesome K-State game! (Oops…did I just say the bad K-word on your blog?) ๐Ÿ™‚
Went on a photo walk, but didn’t like most of my pictures…could be related to the impatience of waiting for THE call.
And finished knitting some pumpkin hats and a baby hammock (photo prop) for the grandbaby!
All-in-All…a good weekend!
Glad yours was awesome!

Katie Lockhart - I almost have to stop reading your blog every time you mention running because I am not motivated enough to do so for than a month.
That is the best family portrait I have ever seen. Love it.
And I want to hug your dog.

Julie - Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a great day. Love the family portrait that Annie did! It’s too cute! She’s a great little artist!

Melissa Bolton - Wow, Annie! That picture is awesome!!

Donna - happy birthday. i would guess that annie is an artist – that picture is so cute. i would love it if she would do one of my family ……….. i am serious it is beyond cute – what a great idea for a christmas card too!

Kompankansas - Huge fan of the Keurig Single Cup…just sayin’.

Jack - We’d a great weekend! we stole yet another idea from you and had our very own outdoor movie night. We’re having a bit of a freak heatwave here in England, so it was a rare treat to be sitting outside on an October night. Happy Birthday!

Danielle Grabiel - That family portrait is awesome.
