MONDAY!!!!

i had a great weekend!

did you?

my little girls had their first indoor soccer game of the season.
annie never stops wiggling, dancing, jumping or kicking the entire game.
oh and also she hugs.
her teammates.
🙂

IMG_6576-1

IMG_6578-2

talby scored a goal….played tough.
she loves soccer!
how about those lime green shirts?!  wowza.

my mother in law took annie and scott with her onto sean's tournament where craig already was.
i had a quiet afternoon of organizing in the craft weekend room.

IMG_6592-3

IMG_6595-4
folding all the fabric again and seeing how much i have.
organizing it by color.

IMG_6599-5
this order came this week….new fabric is just the happiest package to get in the mail.

i found some new material at hancocks fabric this week too.
i love this one.
IMG_6601-6
i know it looks like nursing scrubs from the pediatrician's office.
BUT it is happy and sweet and i love it anyway.
🙂

IMG_6605-7
done.
folded….sorted….cute.
CHECK.

i feel much more ready for this Whatever Craft Weekend than the one just last month.
it is a great feeling.

i took talby to a volleyball clinic late saturday afternoon.
then everyone came back home and my mother in law took three to her house for a sleep over.
i love when that happens!
they love to go and it's nice to change it up around here.

with all that childcare….craig and i were WILD and CRAZY!
we sat on our computers and balanced bank accounts, recorded mileage and organized things for taxes.

pretty hot right?

IMG_6661-1
smokin.

our sunday was church, watching club volleyball for lauren and basketball for sean and some arby's drive through for lunch and pizza hut for dinner.
and a two hour nap….sooo good.

i hope i can share the sermon from sunday with you soon.
i thought it was really good.
i was challenged.
and i laughed really LOUD.
do you ever get the giggles when it is completely NOT appropriate?
i used to do that a lot but now i am mature.
ha!
totally kidding.

my bible study this week with BSF has been on 1 Corinthians.
i have enjoyed spending more time with God this week.
i was missing that.

Verse

don't hold back.

and this morning i woke up to SNOW!
i love snow.
it makes me happy (in the beginning 🙂

happy monday.

Just catching up on your blog after a few weeks away. It’s so homey and inviting.
Thanks
Anna

catie - i just love when everything is all organized and pretty looking! love the fabrics all together, makes me want to create something. and, hey, i recognize the town name on those soccer shirts, my husband works there! 😉

Jacci - by the way, i’m loving your Ta Dot stash. I think that’s my favorite right now… the stone. Perfect.

Jacci - love the (new?) white buckety bins for the fabric. The bright white is so pretty with the bright fabrics. especially with the silvery insides & rim. good job getting on things ahead of time! it’s nice to feel organized. i think. not sure i can actually remember the feeling. ha.
the rainbow fabric made me think of Care Bears and 2nd grade. I had a slumber party for my birthday that year and got Birthday Bear… and one of the slumber party guests STOLE him. At least, I never found him again after that night.
Happy Monday!

Becki - I love all the fabric, and I love the Scripture too. It does feel great to spend time with the Lord…

Julia - Youre totally about the scrubs! So funny – I would have got in anyway too.

Kim from Miracle-Round - I so love organizing everything by colour! It’s so happy!

Jen Brandt - Happy post! Love your new fabric! Sounds like a busy, but fun weekend. Here’s to a continuation of fun and great. Oh, and your hot night sounds a lot like our hot dates.

amanda peters - Hey so I got my latest copy of Popular Photography in the mail today and YOU were on the back cover!! Congrats!!

Kimberly Dial - Looks like you all had a great weekend! Your fabrics are fab … I love all the bright colors. I’m a little afraid of color but I’m trying to be brave & add pops of it here & there … Just thinking about taxes makes me feel short of breath (I wait until the very last minute EVERY year) CW always looks so fun … I’m hope to make it there … some day! 😉

casey - I LOVE reading your blog everyday! It’s like sitting down for a quick cup of coffee with an old friend (c:

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - Fabric pictures always make me a happy lady:) You should see my stash here. I could host my own CW sometime. Wanna come? I can host and you girls who normally slave over everyone else can be pampered:) You’d feel right at home in my house…big and old like yours:)
Have a great night!

Amber Bray - Meg, where do you buy your fabric online? The idea of it worries me because I can’t put my hands on it and know its a decent quality, but we only have two small quilt shops and a joanne’s here. I need more funky cool stuff! : ) Thanks in advance!

happygirl - I’d be so interested to hear about the sermon you heard on sunday. I skipped church. It was snowing. I was tired. excuses, excuses… My husband and I worked on our taxes. sexy.

Whitney - I’m in love with all of those fabrics!!! 🙂
That is a HOT weekend… 🙂 Kinda sounds like mine 🙂
Thank you for this verse, my friend (really) has been down today and I know that this one will perk her up! I love your blog MEG!

Marianne - Ha ha ha. Can’t wait to get our tax preparation on around here…

Kelly - Would love to know more about the bible study that you are doing?

Christy - Sounds like my kind of weekend! I think you were plenty organized for our craft weeekend. Is it bad that I’m jealous of the new crafters?!? I want it to be my turn again! 🙂

ok….now one last thing for you to do….

GO TO THE CRAFT WEEKEND BLOG to read about our last few sponsors from craft weekend 2010.

Alana Geikie - The bathroom is looking good. And, if that’s only half done, it means that you’re in for a nice treat! Some shower curtains would add a splash of color to compliment the tiles. Perhaps a shade of something sunny or spicy will do?

Toni :O) - Waffle cracks me up! Just CRACKS me up!!! Love that dog!

Sarah - I love your bathroom-I picked out the exact same floor and wall time for our upstairs-so glad to see how it looks because now I am much more confident about it, thanks to your good taste!

elisa - love waffle. LOVE him.

Penelope - Thanks for featuring my USA wall hanging. ilgattoselvatico.etsy.com

amanda - every hamster cage should have a litle polka dot something on it! (and waffle looks like the size of a person with paws on the kitchen counter – it made me chuckle!)

Lana - The pic of Waffle made me chuckle out loud, and in that moment I thought of this scripture: “..Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”-Proverbs 11:25 Thanks for the “refreshing”! 🙂

Ashley North - Can you give a roundabout number of our chances of winning a craft weekend? Like do I have a 1 in 500 chance, 1 in 200? It’s bad when you dream of craft weekend like a personal fantasy getaway haha I was shopping in Target and came across some with ‘rainbow colored words’ and in the middle of the aisle loudly proclaimed, “That’s SOOO meg!” and I haven’t even met you! haha Be blessed today girl!

Whitney - I LOVE Mr. Paisley!!! I hope that he sung some of his hymns 🙂 I often jam out to those in my car!!!

Kimber-Leigh - this is a fun happy post 🙂 love all the peeks of craft weekend. wish i was going!!! can’t wait to see more. (and brad paisley is fabulous in concert, isn’t he?!?!?)

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - Oh my gravy.. There is so much happy in this post, I can hardly take it!
PS- We went to see Brad Paisley last summer and it was amaaaazing!

Kristin - LOVE the hoop art! and the subway tile… looks great! we just used white subway tile (with a band of small, blue glass tile) in our shower/tub this past fall, and we are really happy with it. have a great weekend!

Cheryl - We have the same hamster cage! And i’ve been wondering what to do to cover up the broken parts too = i like your idea – cute 🙂 We have dwarf hamsters and so far, they haven’t tried to climb the walls (fingers crossed). But our cats are often in the pose that Waffle is! Brad Paisley is great in concert – saw him over the summer. Glad to see everything coming together for CW!

karen gerstenberger - Oooh that bathroom tile – the walls, the floor – I love it all. And LOVE the corner shower pan.
I hope that Waffle doesn’t give that hamster a heart attack or a case of paranoia…just sayin’.
Every time I see your blog header, I get more excited to make that crayon craft. I have the supplies – have just been to busy to execute, but SOON!

Shannon Baker - Great post! Love the bathroom floor tile. Can’t wait to see it finished.

Seriously Sassy Mama - That song is so me.

Jessica @ This Blessed Life - oh my gosh could you PLEEEEEEEEEEASE tell me where you got that shower curtain?! that is exactly what i have been looking for for my dining room. i am going to cross my fingers that it’s something i can afford. lol

Mindy Harris - meg you look positively adorable in your shower curtain pic. i want to see you in more cute outfit posts. i love your style!
also i like everything in the cart except the KU napkins. 🙂
have a blast this weekend!

Jade Cook - ummm…i’m going to need that green chevron fabric pictured up there. good thing i’ll be at craft weekend!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!! =)

Kerry - This is SAD…but Oh. That. Mop. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

happygirl - Let the CRAFTING begin. Have a wonderful weekend. I am inspired by your bathroom. You’ve got me thinking, girlfriend.

Terrie G - Excuse me while I go and get a towel (or a cute libman mop with polka dots!!) so I can mop the drool over this whole post…especially the fabrics!!!!! LOVE!!!
Have a GREAT Fabulous Awesome Craft Weekend!!
Don’t forget to take pictures! 🙂

tina - Brad & Carrie’s voices together….now that is beautiful music 🙂 But Keith Urban is my first love… his music, sweet voice… oh the list could go on & on, LOL!!!!

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - P.S. I wore the same cardi last night:)

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - Oh poor Waffle just wants a furry snack sooooo bad, doesnt he? 🙂 I cant wait to hear all about CW and wish I could be attending.

Suzy - I love your new fabric! Is Waffle a goldendoodle? We have a 4 month old doodle and I found her standing on the kitchen island last night. Usually such a good little pup, but occassionally goes a little crazy!

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - Love how your bathroom is coming along….tile is so great and the shower curtain, love! P.S. Love Waffle checking out the hamster. Growing up I had a dog that ate my sister’s hamster…we never did tell her. We just said it ran away. She’s almost 50 now and she still doesn’t know that story. Hopefully she won’t see my comment ;0

Allison - Love the tile in the bathroom and the shower curtain! I want to redo my bathroom so badly, but I just haven’t had time. Whoever thought putting wallpaper in a bathroom was a good idea shouldn’t be allowed to design anymore!
Oh and I wish I could steal all that fabric 😉

Amber - Seriously, how do I get on the wait list for Craft Weekend number 3? I know it doesn’t exist yet, but I’m thinking it will and I want to claim my spot in line.

Mae - Okay. It’s settled. After looking at all of that fabric I’ve decided I’m GOING to learn to sew. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

Leah - LOVE that photo of Waffle eying the hamster! Poor dog. He SO wants it!

Michele - Love reading your blog. Thought I would share this website with you. http://www.camlettes.com. An awesome cropped camisole that you and your readers would LOVE!

Tiffany - McLuvin that subway tile (and the POLKA DOTS of course!!!)

Anj - Your whole post cracked me up 😀

Charla - Brad is often in my dreams (but don’t tell my hubby, OK?) Sigh! I’m jealous!

kaylee@life chasers - Love the subway and hex tile!!!! Is that shower curtain West Elm? I just bought that! And Brad Paisley? Some kind of awesome.

donna - omg i just bought that same shower curtain in yellow for my new bathroom – we have the same tile on the floor and the subway tile on the walls – i painted my bathroom in black chalkboard paint and I LOVE IT.

IMG_5241-2

it's getting there….
coming along….
still not done cleaning the craft room but i have also done LOTS of other things…
like wash some windows (i said "how long have we had that tree out that window?" once it was cleaned…ha ha)
or move furniture in the girls room and go through all their clothes.
or tons of laundry….that machine breaking really screwed up my WHOLE laundry system
and we can't seem to catch up.

IMG_5242-3

this is my favorite room to clean.
it is so happy even when it's out of control.

i organized my fabric by color this time.

IMG_5240-1

so pretty in the morning when the sun is SHINING in.

soon everything will find it's place.
it's almost there.

i have watched/listened to two disks of parenthood season 2, you've got mail, love actually and the family stone since i began this cleaning frenzy.
isn't that a great list of movies?
yes it is.

IMG_5248-1

this cabinet was a built-in from the old cruddy basement of our illinois house.
i made sure we rescued it when we remodeled that basement.
since annie was born it has held her clothes but her clothes were getting too wide for the shelves.
so i slid it across the hall and made it into the craft weekend cabinet.
and now i had a place for all that stuff that was in the other picture on new year's eve.

IMG_5168-1

my gigantor 2 page list of all the things i want to get done in each room before CW.
i have added more since i took that picture.
i love when there is a deadline and things get DONE.
it feels good!

so…my thursday is going to be another day of check! check! check!
when you are on a roll you gotta run with it.

:D

Kerry - I love the Erin Condren Planner! I have it nd love it!! Might I recomend packers tape to reinforce the tabs. 🙂

Diane Pierce - Not sure if you actually reply or answer your comments but I would love to know where you found your planner that is pictured. It looks great and I’d love to find one like that! Pl

patsy - Started a to do notebook too! A wonderfully blessed new year to you and your family! Patsy from
HeARTworks

Kimberly Dial - You go girl! (BTW, your fabric stacks & movie list are pure fabulosity! 🙂

Lisa - Don’t you just LUV “Love Actually”!?! Every time I watch it I cry with/for Sarah, my heart breaks for Mark, I crack up at Billy Mack (thought I have to do the “quick-mute” a few times), and my heart aches for Karen . . . “knowing that life will always be just a little bit worse”. And can I please have Kathleen Kelly’s NYC apt for a girl’s get-a-way spot . . . for real!? Love your movie list!!! Oh, and your craft room 🙂

tara pollard pakosta - yay! it’s coming along!
my goal is to do 2 rooms per month so by the end of the year each room will be de-cluttered! and then some!
to start : my laundry room and then my basement! ick!
tara

Kasey - looks like we both have new headers;-) Love yours….xo

Marla Rae - Meg – take 3 or 5 0r 6 loads of laundry to a laundermat and get yourself caught up! It is the best way to accomplish a ton of laundry in a short amount of time…it feels so good to get back on track! Love your craft room and all of your awesomeness!

Robin Canter - If I lived near you, I would come over and do your laundry because I ADORE laundry. Really. It’s my most favorite household thing. there’s just something about the fresh clean smell and bleaching something until it’s sparkling white.
l-o-v-e- it!

Wendy - Please send some energy … & a cup of coffee to Pennsylvania! 🙂

jen - i took on the challenge myself and was happy to see you were too! i’m painting this weekend – i hope! – and then piecing together the rest to make it a more inviting. love the fabric – what do you use it for?? also how did you make your new top banner? love it! happy cleaning!

Dawn G - That fabric is gorgeous … The thought of sewing makes me break out in hives! :0). Love the crayon banner !

Barbara Nelson - So happy, have fun checking!

brooke - i LOVE your new banner…LOVE!!!

Lisa - Love your blog…I found your link on Pam’s blog. I think I say “whatever” too much and find your blog name hilarious…and I have a craft room just like yours:) Seeing your fabric almost makes me feel sane, but I know my husband would beg to differ on that account.

Cheryl E. - All that fabric in your craft room makes me smile! Love all the color.
And You’ve Got Mail is a fantastic movie!! You have such good taste!! 🙂

Amy @ www.littleforalittlewhile.blogspot.com - The colors in your craft room make me happy. Love your style.

Andrea - Nice! Keep going! My craft room is an utter disaster ALL THE TIME. Then I clean it…then I make a mess! But it’s fun! And worth it!

shelley - i would also love to know where the planner/organizer is from 😎 what a happy crafting space!

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - I love that you organized fabric by color. I do that too and it makes it much easier to find something when you need it.
On the downside, we came home from church last night to our big old house full of firemen and police. Long story and Im still really shaken up but we’re safe. Now we deal with the smoke damage. Its awful. Girls and I went to school today reeking of it(trying to keep things normal for them).
So your pictures made me smile on a day when its hard to do that:)
xo

casey - awesome!! Wish I had a craft room to clean! I love cleaning! (I know… sick, right?!)

Michelle - I love that as I was reading this, the song “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” came up on my iTunes. And “Count Your Blessings” is atop your notebook page. Have a great day Meg <3

Melissa - Where’s the wonderful fabric from? I LOVE all the bright colors and patterns!!

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - I must be like you and things really only get done when I have a deadline. My hubby teases me that it’s a good thing we have friends that like to come over or the house may never get a good cleaning…HA, it’s probably true 🙂

Lisa Biedebach - I’m on the waiting list and can’t wait to be picked! I figure the more you clean the closer I get. Ha ha so go with it!

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - You have a huge fabric collection…I’m totally jealous!!
I’m really looking forward to seeing all the pictures from CW at your home..take lots!
Gemma x

Aimee B. in Oregon - okay, talk about a BEAUTIFUL mess. I want to come over and take in all the wonderful color! yummy!
* I am curious to know more about your notebook you pictured with your list written on it. That looks like something I cannot live without. 😉
Aimee in OR,

Melissa - Curious. What are the stack of plates in that cute white cabinet? Making something?
I love your craft room! I wish I had a room with all of that light!

tiffany gardner - yes…i love love family stone. your craft room makes me happy too.

Katie - Is it weird that I love seeing other people’s messy craft rooms?! The colours are so beautiful. Good luck on the rest of your organizing – have fun!

Ashlyn@Pinecone - I have what amounts to a craft cabinet at the moment – and even it is a mess.
Love all of your fabrics!!! xo

Kimberlee Jost - I am coming over to sun myself every Thursday in the Craft Room.
Not kidding.
I fully expect my Vitamin D levels to go up this winter, thanks to you.
And speaking of Blog Headers—weren’t we?
Shazam. Bam. Boo. That looks fabulous!

Cerissa - Hi there! So I’ve been following your blog for quite some time now (stalker status im sure!) I love to sit down with my cup of coffee in the morning & check in. You inspire me to be a better mom a better christian and a better person. Thank you for always being so real & sharing your heart-and pictures of your gorgeous home!!! Have a beautiful day!!!!

Seriously Sassy Mama - My roll comes in spurts. I absolutely love your list of movies. I am probably the only person int he world that owns only three dvds. That should be a goal for 2012. Buy a DVD a month of my favorite movies. I love fabric! Sometimes I buy scraps just to have the color around the house.

ellen keeton - Hi Meg…my name is Ellen and I love your blog… I may even be your biggest fan! I did’nt realize hoew often I visit your blog until over Christmas break Lily Kate(my 7 yr. old) jumped up beside me and said”hey Mom… what’s Meg up to today?”. Yes she is always that hysterical!! She is a huge crafter just like us!! Would love to know where your planner came from. Thanks for taking the time to blog… you are an inspiration!!

Lori Austin - You go girl! I so need to get busy cleaning/organizing. I can feel I’m getting close to being in the mood (sounds silly, but sometimes it just kind of builds inside and then bam! I’m a crazy cleaning mommma – yeah, corny!)
Love the list of movies for sure. You’ve Got Mail is kind of my life (hubby and I met online – eek!). Family Stone – sigh….always makes me cry but so, so good.
Have a great day!!

Emily Kinsaul - I love all your posts! You inspire me daily. Btw, where did you find your awesome planner/notebook? I’d love to get one myself.

Lorie S. - I soooo wish I had a room like that to work in. Maybe when the kids are grown and gone it will happen. For now the kitchen table will have to work.

Tiffany - I’m liking the fabric sort…and you piced some good movies (love actually and you’ve got mail) two of my all time FAVS!!

Anne - thanks… I needed that. my new year is off to a slow start and I have been searching for motivation. I think I have found it.

Kacy - So true. My “craft room” is part of my laundry, not nearly as beautiful as yours, but that’s ok because I’m not nearly as crafty as you are :). Good luck with your list!

Julie - I would like to live inside your craft room!

happygirl - I’m a list making, checking things off, love it when it’s all done kinda girl, myself. I just wish I didn’t have this crummy 8 to 5 job. It gets in the way of getting things DONE. 🙂

regina - i would love to have a craft room. right now mine is ALL over the dinning room table. i LOVE lOVE how real u are. LOVE it!!!

Jen - last night i had a dream and you brought me and all my friends rainbow colored cookies. maybe i shouldn’t blog before bed. oh yikes!
the craft room looks awesome! mine looks like a disaster zone. keep truckin’

Alicia @ La Famille - you are on a roll for sure, girl!!! GO, meg, GO!!!

tina - what a beautiful collection of fabric… oh how i wish i was a better sewer 🙂

Heather R. - Love Actually. I love that movie. I’m on a roll, too. Keep on rollin’! Have a great day.

Leah - Don’t you just love the planner? I’m so happy with mine. I feel more organized just looking at it! I currently have a craft shelf in the garage that needs organizing. Maybe I can graduate to a craft closet next.

Mae - I don’t know how to sew, but looking at that room makes me wish that I did… Seriously. Unbelievable.

Charity - I just love your fabric choices! I want to buy them all! <3

stephany @ home is what you make it - BTW, what planner do you use? I like it!

Magda - Hi there! I’m Magda from Greece,17. I’ve been following you since last week i think, and i’m in love with your blog already! Actually i so very much adore the tons of energy you have and the way your whole family comes together in order to create and have fun. That’s exactly the type of family I wanna make too,and for that you are officialy one of my role models(does that sound too formal? okay, in other words, I admire you:)) I love crafting and creating sooo much as well. So far i can not take up lots of crafting (although i’d love to) because i’m in my senior year at school and my leisure time is limited. However,i’ve tried the melting crayons one and it was so much fun and turned out pretty beautiful! thanks for that:) oh,and i’m so jealous of your craft room and your fabrics! I’m gonna have a whole craft room on my own when i have my own house! Aww^_^
that was all pretty much. Normaly i’d have sent it in an email, but your email address doesn’t appear.
anyway, have a nice time cleaning up! Oh,and as for the movies, if you run out of idea, try “Burlesque” with Cher and C.Aguilera. Soooo good!
Ciao ciaoo!
(woohoo, that was BIG! Sorry for that)

Cerella M. Di Mondo - Absolutely gorgeous. Wish my craft room looked like this!

stephany @ home is what you make it - I can’t wait to be picked for a craft weekend. I fondly remember visiting my grandma and grandpa in Wichita (from Denver).
I am so green with envy of your craft room (even i it is a mess)…someday I will have one.
Until them I have a small closet under the stairs for storage and my dining room for my drafting/sewing/crafting!
I absolutely look forward to your blog posts everyday. You are an inspiration.
Thank you from Oregon!!
Happy, happy!
stephany @ home is…what you make it
http://homeiswhatyoumakeit.com

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - So true! Roll with it baby!

Terrie G - My craft room is only partially done too…
I also organized my fabrics in RoYGBiv order!!
So Pretty!! Makes me want to do another craft quick!

fridays are awesome.

it is SUPER windy here today.
i have some girls i go running with a couple days a week and this morning in the dark we were all texting each other hoping someone would want to bail out so we all could.
"is it cold out?"
"YES and windy!"
"really windy!!!"
 "anyone want to run"
"UMMMM…. i guess so"

IMG_3666-1

we did it.
i am so glad.

it was miserable into the wind.
M I S E R A B L E
but the second half was fabulous.

WATER4CHRISTMAS…. (see the post below this one)

let me be clear:  where is says "make a donation"  it means a hand crafted item to donate.
not money.
you can give money to Water4CHRISTMAS right here but that is not through the etsy shop.
and you can SHOP in the etsy shop.
but donating money and donating crafts are two different things.

what are you going to make?!!!

yesterday i sat on my couch in my pajamas wrapped in an afghan in front of a space heater
with a stocking cap on….i get cold in this drafty house.

i worked on pictures and emails.

IMG_3594-4

i looked out my window and leaves were blowing everywhere.
it looked it was snowing but it was all yellow leaves.

IMG_3588-2

one of our trees lost ALL of it's leaves in about an hour.
i had to go capture it…. in my pajamas.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

i was loving my bible study yesterday!
in BSF we are studying Acts.
but last week we jumped over to Hebrews for a while.

IMG_3654-12

sometimes i read the bible and it's like i have never read it before in my life….
everything seems so new and clear and means so much.
even though i have read those passages over and over for the past 20 years.
but God makes His Word just STAND OUT and SPEAK even after all those years.
after reading it maybe 100 times… suddenly it means something new to my new heart.
i don't want to ever stop growing in my faith.

the bible is just so stinkin' AWESOME!

can i get an amen?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

my mom sent me this video in a chain email.
and i had to share.

this just proves how lazy waffle truly is….

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

mr. duerksen and i are getting away this weekend.
i am giddy about it.
i get him all to myself.
and we are off the clock.

it's going to R O C K.

when was your last getaway with your hubby?

do you need to get planning on that?

DO IT.

you will thank me.

Mulia - that Christ is ioncmg and He says He’s ioncmg quickly! This to me shows that we need to be prepared for His ioncmg at all times! Well what does that mean? It means that we need to be living our lives as if Christ is going to come back tomorrow. We don’t want to be living with the attitude of Oh I got time, I’ll start acting like a real Christian in college! You may or may not have time to do that, that’s why it’s so important for us to start living like Christ now! We need to be making an impact everyday not just when we feel like it, but the coolest thing is that we know that the grace of Christ is with us! It’s written right there in verse 21! We just sang a song in youth group two weeks ago called Your grace is enough. Your grace is enough, Your grace is enough, Your grave is enough for me! His grace is enough and it’s been given to us! these verses are amazing and a great reminder that we don’t know when Christ is ioncmg back but He said it was quickly, so we need to live our lives like each day is the last! & that should be living it out with a bang!

Kristin S - Amen sista!
Happened to me in Exodus and Numbers yesterday. Craziness. Awesomeness.

Anthony - Appreciate your making the effort to discuss this, I find myself strongly about this and lovmind updatie reading much more about this topic. Whenever possible, as you gain knowledge, do you mind updating your site with extra information? It’s very helpful for me.

jamie - the first photo of the leaves is absolutely GORGEOUS. i’m in love with it!!

Lisa - Amen! So thankful for His Word. I would be a mess without it. Heck I am a mess WITH it!! LOL. Hope you’re enjoyed your weekend away. Sounds truly wonderful. I think I will get to planning one of those…

Heather G. - Haha – that dog is amazing! The hubby and I got away for our anniversary for 2.5 days. It was amazing!

Gretchen - AMEN! I totally agree! Thanks for taking the brave road and speaking of your love for Him. Have always loved your blog.. now love it double!
The way your friends and you hint around that you’d be willing to NOT run b/c of the weather cracks me up! My exercise buddy and I do the same thing! Hilarious!
Have fun with your man. Weekends away are so important. Hugs!

emily hope - Love your leaf pictures. Such a cozy, beautiful time of year, isn’t it?
And I am giving you a huge AMEN on the incredible awesomeness of the Bible. I was just thinking the other day what it would be like if we didn’t have God’s Word written down in black and white. What a confusing mess we would be in!
Have fun on your getaway 🙂

Leslie Davison - Amen! Which version of rhe Bible do you study from?

Heather R. - Amen! I hope you have a great time with your hubby. Dog video=Amazing.

Cindy - Funny, we have a tree that does the exact.same.thing. And it’s always right after my husband rakes the rest of the yard. The next day, they all have dropped their yellowish-green leaves. Cool to me. Annoying to him. Second thing, about the Bible. It is amazing how God does this with his Word. Thanks for sharing those verses. I will go dig into it today. Seems like a good thing to do. Enjoy every second of the trip away.

Jen Brandt - AMEN!
Good for you for running! You go, girl!
Love the leaf pics.
Good for you for getting away with your hubby! Happy couple = stronger family.
My hubby and I got away the first weekend in October to a secluded cabin in a state park. It was WONDERFUL! My husband said, can we do this for a week next time?
Meg, I am very frustrated with my small, inexpensive camera and want one that will take decent pics. I take pictures of my family – playing outside, crafting inside, dance class pics, soccer pics, etc. What kind of camera would you recommend ($400 limit)?

Jody - We are in bad need of a getaway…been FOREVER!!! (we have a 6 year old son & 4 year old triplet boys)…I won’t even admit how long it’s been – it’s too embarrassing… our marriage needs it!!!! Thanks for the reminder to do something about it.
On a side note – just read “Heaven is for Real” last night – have you read it?! Written from a 4 year old’s experience of heaven – amazing!!!

Ani G W - We had our last real getaway in June to celebrate our anniversary. Before that though it had been three years! It was time and I made a pact with hubby that we wouldn’t wait 3 years before the next one. We try and have a date once a month, but sometimes it only gets done once every couple of months!

tiffany gardner - nope…no get-a-ways for us…its been years. not much help in the department of anyone wanting to watch our kids. our get-a-ways consist of watching movies when kids go to sleep…if we can stay awake! 🙂 happy for you though….count your blessing of wonderful grandparents who help.

Kat - My last get away with my hubby was bc (before children) and so that would be over nine years ago now.
We have 4 children aged 3, 5, 7 and 9.
We are lucky to get out for a date together maybe twice a year if that!!
Enjoy your break away and btw I looove those leaves!

shauna - love the yellow leaves.
love the Bible.
love babies.
hate running.
no idea what to make.
a banner?
hmmmm
guess what?
i don’t watch tv really.
but i just started watching parenthood.
reedo and i watch one or two very night (apple tv)
we are like half through the second season!
i want to come over to your house and get all bundled up with your space heater, watch the leaves fall and watch a freshy episode while not running.

Juli - AMEN!

beth - Amen!! It was crazy windy here, too, but fairly warm. Glad you got your run in!

Maggie Nunez - Your comment about waffle made me laugh..the one about him being lazy, poor waffle. I need to plan a weekend with my hubby, its been too long, can’t even remember when was the last time we had date night :(.

karla @ bluegrass jewelrydesigns - Ummm…..I can’t even remember the last time my husband and I got away by ourselves. Sad, isn’t it. : ) Have fun this weekend!

heyruthie - the first part of your post reminded me of George McDonald’s “At the Back of the North Wind.” a great read.

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - AMEN sister! I’m also giving you an AMEN for a weekend away…I’m planning that tonight. We don’t make that a priority often enough, so thank you and enjoy your time away to play 🙂

April M - amen 🙂
LIVING WORD!
(and I’m so glad I’m not the only one who takes pictures of leaves)

Susan - Amen! I am in BSF also and am loving the study of Acts. I have been a Christian for many years, but am seeing now more than ever how it all fits together. My love of Jesus is growing daily! BTW-Your post last year about BSF spurred me to actually sign up this year. I love how God uses others-some who don’t even know us-to bless us! Enjoy your time with your husband. It is time well spent! Our nest is empty now and I think our time away when our kids were home is one of the reasons we have such a great time together now.

Kelly - Amen!
and we don’t have a whole get away planned but we do get to drive 45 minutes alone to Denver and have dinner with a gift certificate tomorrow and we are really looking forward to that!! Kelly

Short, Sweet Season - Amen! I’m in BSF too, and the study of Acts has been amazing. I’m so glad you mentioned BSF on here previously…when my friend asked me to join her this semester, I was afraid it would be too formal, but I felt like I already knew someone who loved it (you!). Thanks for that!

Melissa - Even if it’s for only one night or just dinner out I feel like our relationship is renewed. Spending this coming Monday with my honey and looking forward to lunch together. That never happens! Have a great time and enjoy!

Seriously Sassy Mama - How I love 3: 12-19 in your photo. AMEN! My husband and I got away for a weekend June 2010. It was for a wedding. It will be a long time before we get away again. Sad but true.

gina f. - AMEN! Have a fun weekend! Beautiful leaves photos!

stacie - Amen!!!
Have such fun going away with Mr. D.
TGIF 🙂

TinaM. - It’s been three years since our last weekend getaway with no children. Although we do try to sneak in a date night more regular than that.
Have a great time!

Susan - Amen! Our last get away as April 2010 but before that it was August 2003. That must be a fruitless Mulberry…ours lost all it’s leaves in one afternoon several years ago. The temps dropped suddenly one fall and they all fell off and they were still green.

Logan - Have a great weekend with your husband! My nest is empty so I have mine a lot more often than those of you that still have kids at home, but getting away is still fun and romantic and important for us!

Jane - AMEN!!

CarrieBeth - i wish we lived close to you. i’d bring my baby right over and let you take pictures of him in those yellow leaves!

Denissa - AMEN! My hubbie and I have never had a getaway since we’ve had our boys. My oldest is 10! We need one and we’re planning one now, thinking it’ll be our Christmas gift to each other 🙂

Terrie G - AMEN!!!
SUPER windy doesn’t begin to describe today…
Love the leaf pics…that is one thing I haven’t done is take leaf pics.
And unfortunately it’s too cold and windy to take the new grandbaby out in it…maybe I should bring some leaves indoors…hmmmm
Have a GREAT time this weekend…we need to do that soon too!

Kati - I’m in BSF too and I’ve noticed many friends (some I didn’t even know were in BSF) posting on Facebook this week different verses from Hebrews. So fun!!! 🙂

Jodi @ The Un-Soccermom Blog - what version is your Bible? HCSB? NIV? Inquiring minds want to know. or at least my one inquiring mind wants to know. :o)
Yay for a get-away!!!
It’s been too long for me and the hubs…

Kirsten J - Seriously? August 2004. Sad but true. I love when things happen, like seeing the Bible with new eyes. Excellent happy doodles!!

happygirl - Have a wonderful weekend. My dog is lazy, too. I think his job is sleeping. You are so inspiring. Running in the wind or like the wind or away from the wind. Inspiring. 🙂

Amy - AMEN, sister!!! Preach it!!! 😉
Is it sad that my man & I have never NEVER in almost 8 years of parenting gone anywhere just the 2 of us? We have never left our kids. He goes places all the time. Craft Weekend was the first time I left all 3 of my kids. {& it was sooooo worth it}
Is that weird?!?!?! We keep planning trips…but they never happen. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Tanya H - I’ve had two husband-dates in a month, after going for at least 6m stretches, it IS so great!!!
I love your leaves! I swept my back porch yesterday and after our wind last night I sure don’t know why I bothered…! LOL!
and, AMEN. The Lord leads us to what we need to read.

shannon - Amen! I agree…I love the bible…I love my Jesus and I love when it He just speaks to me. Often at times when i think what the heck…..
Mr. Stout and I got away this past March….he mentioned a weekend away sometime again and I am all for it! Have no idea when that can be….probably around valentines day when the mil can come keep kids….:)

Lia - Haha you should have taken waffle out for pictures. I kind of love waffle posts. We are getting a goldendoodle in 2012 and I couldn’t be more excited. Have fun with your hubby!! Mine got home last night and isn’t traveling again for 7 weeks!!

Southern Gal - Amen.

robin - AMEN!! I’m fairly new in Christ, so it’s no surprise to me that it’s amazing every time I dive in, but I am filled with joy to know it will continue on like that all of my days. :):):) He is so good.
Enjoy your weekend!

Kimberly - AMEN! It’s living, breathing, and always surprising me with new insights. Love the image of snowing yellow. Not yellow snow though because that makes me think of something gross…
Happy Friday!

lisa willis - AMEN!
I’m in bsf too, and the words in Hebrews have been speaking loudly to me, comforting me, and showing me that Jesus is alive and at work TODAY!
I love bible study, I love Jesus!
…and I get to go out of town with my hubby in a couple weeks! So excited!

what if i forget what i was going to say?
what if i cry?   how much will i cry?

i am wearing some fabulous shoes….

Vonda - Love your shoes!!! I have a pair that are very similar, just no peep-toes! I think glitter shoes go with anything! I feel like cinderella when I put mine on!:)

Good luck to you. I covet those sparkly shoes. 🙂

Nikki - Honeygirl, EVEYRTHING goes with glitter shoes! Don’t be afraid of showing off your blogger badself!

amanda - oh…..glitter shoes go with anything!

Heather (One Take On Life) - First love the shoes, those rock! And that cabinet, I heart that cabinet, what an awesome find.

Jenna@MomofManyHats - Annie has so much wisdom! What a girl. My husband has taken me fishing so many times. So far I’ve caught a tree, the dock, some seaweed, a bush and the side of the boat. A fish has to be next, right?
Also, don’t underestimate a LBD with sparkly shoes!
Jenna
momofmanyhats.blogspot.com

kelley - I love the shoes! wore them as a bridesmaid in a wedding 2 weeks ago! We had solid purple dresses on. Honestly- I think any solid will look great! So what’s your favorite color? go with it! The material we wore was shiny, I think that helps.

Wendy - How bout some fantastic leopard print ensemble to go with those glitter shoes!

Secret Mom Thoughts - Love the shoes! I would go with a little black dress.

Tanya H - Looove the shoes, looove the antiques, looooooooove that family picture. Wow, that really just captures it all! 🙂

Rebecca - I wore shoes almost exactly like that for my wedding. They looked fabulous but felt terrible. I’m just warning you, girl: BREAK THEM IN!!!

Holly - Yes, chippy red paint is awesome! Here’s the plan: if you screw up while giving your presentation at BlogSugar, I will burp really loud and put all the attention on me. I love you that much. Looking forward to meeting you and burping for you this weekend. Now, I seriously need to go find some better shoes.

Karen Gerstenberger - You will find the right thing to wear – glitter shoes will go with “whatever” else you find that you like. It will match because the same creative spirit that inspired you to buy the shoes will inspire your vision for the rest of it.
I wish I could hear you speak.
I love your photos and your fresh perspective, Meg.
xoxo

seriouslysassymama - Glitter shoes go with EVERYTHING! I love the furniture, and cannot wait to see what you do with it!

Mrs. Edberg - I think almost anything would match glitter shoes. Especially a nice pair of black slacks or a cute black skirt. Keep the bottom simple and your sassy shoes will POP big time! So fun!

Holly - I saw the glitter shoes recently and almost bought them, but decided that nothing would go with them! ha! Cant wait to see what you come up with!

Nikki - My heart skipped a beat over those shoes! They are fantastic! I could never wear them though,I’d fall flat on my face!

Tamara - I think black might accentuate those awesome glitter shoes! Just so you know, I was in a bad mood on Saturday…and read through every one of your Waffle, the Wonder Dog posts…and they lifted my spirits. He really is a Wonder Dog!

Melissa - I love that cabinet and all it’s chippy paint charm!
I love those shoes but I could never in a million years wear them!
Am I really the first to comment?!? I rock!

and now even after being back here almost 7 years i think i say "i love it here" to myself on a daily basis.
i can't get enough of the fields, the trees, the crops, the wildflowers….the wide open spaces.
i love it here.

it's SONIC DAY!

feel free to copy this fabulous idea in your car after school.   ha ha ha
maybe i will see you there!

michelle - these pics are just GORGEOUS Meg!!! seriously.

Nicole - Love thia post! Nice to find a fellow Kansas girl in blog world….I’m in SW Kansas…Garden City to be exact!

Kimberly Dial - Sunflowers are lovely. So is Kansas. 🙂

Kimberly Dial - Sunflowers are lovely. So is Kansas. 🙂

Chaos-Jamie - I think being away in the city makes us appreciate it more. I am unapologeticaly in life with the landscape here….now.
I’d buy one of your sunflower sunset photos. Been thinking about taking one myself.

Karen Gerstenberger - I only get to go to Sonic when we take David to college – there is one in Spokane, and I love the real fruit slushes.
Meg, please make a poster collage of those sunflowers and sell it on etsy. I think people would love it. You could include your favorite quotes or verses. The photos would make beautiful note cards, too.

Cory - I Love that you are there… in Kansas. One of my most favorite places ever. Part of my heart will always live there. My dad lived in the North West corner for my whole life before he passed. I lived there with him for a bit, and managed to make a trek to Beloit, Emporia, Great Bend, and Newton. Don’t ask.;) That was so many years ago, but my memories are fresh… and my heart smiles because of it.

Julie Cosby - those pictures are GOR-GEOUS!
I also go to Sonic every wednesday during Happy Hour! We call it “Sonic Wednesday” 🙂 A co-worker and I started at the beginning of the summer and have loved it ever since!

Courtney Walsh - awww, I love these photos. So pretty. Frame ’em!! 🙂

Rach - Maybe I missed your post on this, but how did you do with the summer list?????

Natalie - Whenever I see sunflowers I miss my home, which is in Kansas, too. I have pictures of my sisters and I in sunflower fields as little girls- such a fun picture. Thanks for stirring up some great memories!

stephanie - Gorgeous. I love sunflowers.

Shirley - Ilove the photos you take of flowers. I use them as my desktop background. Fantastic work.

happygirl - Love sunflowers. Hate bugs. Love sunsets on sunflowers. You are so brave.

Cassandra - Love the pictures, I live in SE Colorado & we have tons of those sunflowers too! We also got a really nice rain last night, hope you received some moisture too!

Sue Linse - I know you love Kansas, but you are still missed here in Des Plaines!

Jenny - These pictures are stunning, Meg. I miss the wild sunflowers, we had this in Ohio too…now I’m living in Annapolis, MD (military spouse!) and sunflowers are hard to come by! But Blue Crabs and traffic – we have plenty of both!

leonieke - wow….kansas looks so beautifull on your pictures!
be sure to call me when you want to change houses for a week or so :-))

Katy @ Live Laugh Love Craft - Ah, you are making me miss Kansas!! I was born there and have lived there on and off my whole life. My Mom’s side of the family all live there. Beautiful pictures!

Bobbie - Texas is in the worst drought in it’s history. There are rivers here that are so dried that you can walk from one bank to the other on the opposite side of the river! My inlays have a house at Toledo Bend (between louisiana and Texas) and their dock is sitting on dry land. It’s horrible. We need rain.

Laura - Thank you, Megan. I feel as if this post was for me as we are quite possibly moving to Kansas soon. I haven’t ever been to Kansas. It makes me feel better knowing that you love it so much. I hope I will, too. The sunflowers are definitely gorgeous!

Lasso the Moon - Hey, we have a Sonic day too! Ours is Friday, if the kids get a good behavior report all week. (they do. they’re little and sweet and still worship their teachers!) I’m new to your blog, and loving all of it!
Anna

Amanda - I was born and raised in Kansas…until I met my husband. He swept me off my feet and carried me all the way to Georgia. But, oh, how I miss it sometimes! Thank you for these lovely pictures of my home state!

Janie Fox - I love the pictures. We have those in the ditches or central IL. It has been so dry here too but it rained today! I love where I live too!

julia - We do Sonic after Walmart on Sundays. We’ve learned to do it AFTER Walmart so that we can avoid the Walmart bathrooms.

Stacy - Love your idea for a Sonic Day! I am a teacher and I have a project on Donors Choose and Sonic is having a contest where people vote and use codes from Sonic to help fund projects. I am asking for a Flip video camera for my classroom to use. My project is: http://www.limeadesforlearning.com/projects/view/578933/teacher
It’s free to vote and you can vote everyday until the end of the month.
Thanks so much!

Suzanne - Beautiful pics. We have the same pretty sunflowers throughout Spotsylvania, Virginia. I live about a mile from the Chancellorsville Civil War Battle Field and let me tell you, September is just spectacular here. Sonic Wednesdays sounds like a plan!

shannon - my closest sonic is 35 minutes away!!! I have always wanted to go to one because of those dang commericals now even more so with you always writing about it. I think I see a 35 minute car ride for lunch coming soon 😉
LOVE the flower pictures, they just scream Fall!

Sarah - We have those same sunflowers in Manhattan. I love them. Will you post a recipe for pumpkin waffles? They sound delish!

Tracy Fisher - will you please share your pumpkin waffle recipe with us? my son was born on halloween and the two of us cannot get enough of pumpkin treats!!
thanks, tracy fisher

Lisa - I moved from California (LA area) to Bend Oregon. I absolutely LOVE being in a smaller town and having more nature right outside our door. When I am walking next to the river or with my family at a lake or drive through the area of town with fields, I breath deeper and feel so happy!

Jennifer - Gorgeous photographs. I’ve never made it up your way, but I’ve always heard Kansas is such a beautiful state.
I really enjoyed seeing all the pics this week from your craft weekend. It looks like everyone had a great time.

elisa - Love those sunflowers- great dreamy shots!

Kerry - Awesome-oh photos Meg! Love!

Dee - What incredible photos, wow!

Nicole - I never comment but I felt compelled to tell you that those are some gorgeous pics! I grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere and now live “in the city” and that makes my heart ache as I miss it! Love your blog:)

Mindy Harris - gorgeous pics, meg, especially the last one. kansas is beautiful. have fun at sonic. if i were there i’d get a chocolate malt.

susie - I was wondering about the craft house your used for craft weekend?
Did you rent it?
Is it in
your
hometown?
Was it furnished?
How big is it?
Were those your quilts on the beds?
I just loved seeing all
of the photos on everyone’ blog and think the details were amazing!

Melissa - It’s FINALLY raining here in CO.
I hope it’s heading your way next. 🙂

amy rhodes - Amazing Pictures, Meg. I have declared Fridays as Slurpee days because Sonic is too far to drive (probably a good thing for me) because my kids ask ALL THE TIME.
Your craft weekend looked amazing. I may need to get in on that next time!

Molly - Hi, found your blog through Crystal Beutler’s.
I love sunflowers! Makes me want to go buy a bunch for my kitchen table. 🙂
We had $1 Baskin Robbin scoop tuesdays, starting yesterday. The girls really enjoyed it and it was fun to talk about their day and enjoy our scoop before heading home and doing homework.
Molly

Lisa McCracken - Beautiful sunflowers!!!!

crystal - Sun flower pictures are A. Ma. Zing.
You captured the feeling.
I wish I lived in Kansas, I really do.
Cuz I’d get to drive down those long roads with farms, and sun flowers,
and I’d get to go to Sonic on Wednesdays and see you and your kids there.
And maybe I could even work at Hallmark.
Kansas is awesome.
Thanks for sharing it with me.

kat @ Pretty in Pink and Green - I LOVE sunflowers!!! LOVE them. What a happy place!

tiffany m gardner - pics are beautiful. and friday is our sonic day! yay for 1/2 price drinks.

Kristin - i’ve always lived in kansas and can’t imagine living somewhere else. BEAUTIFUL photos!

ktmade - What gorgeous photos. I love sunflowers!

mel @ the larson lingo - BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love Sunflowers! My first time I vistited Kansas was in the month of September. I was in college playing soccer for the University of Colorado. We played KU on a Friday & then took a bus to play Iowa State. I remember the sunflowers & was blown away at how pretty it was! Great photos, Meg!

casey - Can I move to Kansas?? Absolutely B.E.A.U.BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Lori Austin - Love the sunset as the back drop. Beautiful!
Pumpkin waffles – yum! My kiddos would totally love those.
I could make them with whole wheat flower and the pumpkin – bonus
fiber (fiber’s a big deal at my house – kiddos with colon issues – not that you want to know that!) Anywhoo – thanks for that idea.
Hope you and Dolly had a great run! 🙂

Dana @ Bungalow'56 - That is great idea… we have Wendy’s. Your photos are beautiful. And yes, once you’ve lived in the prairies, that sky and those fields. Nothing like it.
Dana

Judy @Considering the Options - Once again, fabulous pics! I was in Valley Center recently and cut cross country – thru Newton to Emporia on my way back to KC trying to find a big sunflower field. I didn’t find the kind I was looking for, but did stumble onto an old stone arch bridge and gorgeous sunset. It made me happy and fed my soul. Kansas is such a beautiful, peaceful place!
And I’ve cut myself down to only 3 Route 44 diet coke’s a week – gets my morning going:)!

Nicole Q. - THese pictures or BREATH TAKING ! ! ! ! FABULOUS !

robbie - did i miss the laundry room update?

Ryanne - I feel the same way about Kansas. I live in a small town outside of KC, where there are lots of open fields. Thanks for showing others Kansas’ simple beauty.

Lori - I love sunflowers! You are so lucky to be surrounded by them. Enjoy your Sonic Happy Hour!

katherine - These pictures made me smile….gorgeous pictures, love those flowers! Blessing to you! kathy

Karen - We have fountain drink Fridays! It’s been an after school tradition for years. Sometimes we have Milkshake Monday if I’m feeling extra nice 🙂

Lindsay - this post made me so happy! i love sunflowers and open fields, just the colorful start to my day i was hoping for, thank you!

Sharla - Oh wow, the pics are amazing. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks

Meg Carter - Awesome pictures Meg! I really like the one that is like a silhouette.

Lia - Your pictures are A-ma-zing as ever.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Yay for Sonic Day!

Molly - 1. love the sunflowers
2. we moved back to Iowa from Phoenix a little over 2 years ago…I know how you feel. Every day it makes me happy…will never take it for granted.
3. Your Sonic idea is brilliant!!! I teach and we don’t get out of school until 3:45 by the time I pick up my girls it is always after 4…grrr! i don’t know why they didn’t think about sonic happy hour when they decided on our school hours!

erlfisher - Kansas has the greenest greens and the bluest blues! And this time of year is best with the beautiful sunflowers – gotta love a flower that is always looking for the sun!
And I agree with merlin – had the same thought, “Waffle’s for dinner.” Ha!

Sarah - We have the lovely sunflowers in MO too! I’m 20 min. outside KCMO and it really is so fun to see the roadside colors come up every year. It’s the perfect transition from Summer to Fall. I love reading your blog every day. 😀 You inspire me to be more colorful and creative!

Jen Brandt - Thank you for all your uplifting, awesomely wonderful, colorful posts, but especially this one. My 93-year-old grandma is from Champan, KS – the small little farm town destroyed by tornadoes about three years ago. I am happy to see these HAPPY KS pictures. Love from OH…Jen

merlin - Glad it isn’t “Waffle’s for dinner” !
I had to reread that line several times to finally realize you meant waffles not Waffle, must be too early for my brain to think clearly, but I had a good laugh at my own expense.

Holly - Sonic day is a great idea!
I love the mountains here in Tn. Of couse I think the sunflowers are gorgeous also!

Laura - I love your “Sonic day” idea! Such a clever mama. I must remember this, because my kids don’t bug me daily like that, but it is sooo something they WOULD do. So when they do, as I’m sure they will, we wii have Sonic Day too!

seriouslysassymama - I feel the same way about living in Texas. I live in the suburbs, but I love the look of spring when driving down the road and all the bluebonnets are in bloom. It really is a beautiful flower. I need to run. Or walk, or do something.

Terrie - Don’t you just LOVE all the sunflowers beside the road?! I want to stop and take pictures every 50 yards!! Love the sunset in the background! I like taking pics of these as much as the big fields of sunflowers! Must be a waffle week…I made blueberry waffles for supper the other night, so good!

Gretchen - love sunflowers!! they make me smile!!
