talby spent the week at my parents' house.
Category Archives: prettylauren was a camp all week.
i had only 3 kids for a couple days…such a change.
on friday i drove with 2 kids to pick up talby and stay overnight.
i took this shot of the sunflowers while driving 55 and not looking through the lens…funny.
as soon as we got to my parents' we went to the pool.
then some fabric shopping at my favorite shop…sarah's.
i loaded up on yummy pretty HAPPY fabrics for pillows!
i don't want to do anything but sit and sew.
when will that happen?
we found caterpillars in their yard.
my sister lorel was searching for more caterpillars for maya.
my parents' garden is getting destroyed by rabbits!
my mom even has a bb gun!
we ate a big yummy dinner.
then went out with my sister & my mom….ended up in a crazy bar with fake wind and snow inside.
we laughed and laughed.
my sister said i was a weirdo-magnet…it's true.
i got kissed by a stranger.
hugged by a different stranger.
it was a pretty wild night for this mama.
i took talby and sean school supply shopping.
why is that SO STRESSFUL???
and WHY do i bring them?
they don't need to be there…i could finish in a third of the time if they weren't there.
when will i learn?!
i bribed annie with a my little pony to keep her quiet…but still had to say many times
"please don't talk to mommy for a little while"
the kids got to go to garage sales with grandpa, which is such a treat!
on the drive home i realized halfway there that we were going to get to the sunflower field at sunset.
i smiled for the next hour.
they got out to see but annie stayed in the car…screaming her head off.
then the woman who lives here came out to introduce herself.
she was so nice.
i shared the blog address with her so she could see my interpretation of her beautiful flowers.
that one in front is a bit deformed…LOVE that.
then carolyn let the kids have a sunflower!
they picked the ones they wanted…they are so HUGE!
if that was my yard…behind sean on the right…i would have a big party on the lawn.
or a wedding.
or a baby shower.
the best backdrop in the whole wide world.
so that was my weekend.
now we are about to have company for dinner…i tried pioneer woman's potato salad.
we'll see how it turns out.
happy sunday.
i don't always have it….really i don't. but this day i stopped and debated but threw it in my purse last second.
and look what i found just driving along.
i am 5'7" so i thought i would show you how tall these flowers are…
i was wearing a shirt…i promise.
and i did get my hair cut and colored since you've seen me last.
but stop looking at me…LOOK AT THOSE 6 FOOT TALL FLOWERS!!
so awesome.
i wanted to cut them down and sneak away with armfuls of sunflowers.
can't you imagine me wearing a big poofy skirt running through a corn field
with loads of sunflowers in my arms?
*********************************************************************************************************************** i am off to the post office to ship every Etsy order i got…except amy jupin's.
i still need to make your gumball tee.
then i will ship yours too.
happy monday.
I have a friend (Sundrenched Moments) that sent me this blog of yours last year because she knew I love, love, love sunflowers. I go to it often to get a sunflower fix. Earlier this months I had the opportunity to go to Topeka for work and I asked where I could see some sunflowers. I was told to go west to Junction City and I should see some. I didn’t see any! I want to see a field where you see sunflowers that go on forever. If I have the opportunity next year to go back can you suggest to me where I can see a field of them?~donna
I absolutely love your photos, you are so talented~!! Your blog and photography is delightful!
Such happy, cheery pictures! Makes me totally want to visit Kansas! beautiful!!!! i love sunflowers. LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunflower pics… so glad you took your camera! BEAUTIFUL Sunflower pictures and LOVE your new haircut/color – makes you look like a STAR with your shades on! :O) So beautiful! We were recently driving through central CA and there were fields of sunflowers . . . on the way down, they weren’t quite in bloom and the way back, completely blown:( These are wonderful pics. Makes me happy on an early Tues morning to see them!!! good ole kansas…
OMG Amazing! I love where you live! Great photos!
Hi Meg. I happened upon your blog through a friend’s blog (Definitely, Maybe). I love to read yours and look at your amazing photography, and I just wanted to let you know. Your pictures are so beautiful. I am a mom of two and newly interested in photography. Not professionally, (I am a hairdreser in So. Ca), but I love taking pics of my kids. I can’t stop. Just wanted to say hello. amazing! sunflowers are in my top 5 fav flower -they are always just so full of hope and brightness!! can’t be sad with sunflowers around. amazing pics!! I love the closed ones. And the open ones. π
I think sunflowers are my favorite flower. I decorated my room as a teenager in them. I think I went overboard though π I would love to photograph a field of sunflowers one day. They are just so happy! I am suprised there aren’t little bugs in your close up pics! And those are p-r-e-t-t-y! You are visually stimulating! hehehe This post made me happy! Gorgeous!! Gotta love sunflowers. I would have paid to see you running through the field carrying 6 ft tall sunflowers…that would have been so funny:) The sunflowers are awesome! I planted some {Late of course} and can’t wait for the m to bloom! π Your new haircut looks great!!! π What a beautiful surprise!
Beautiful! So…you need to take your camera with you EVERYWHERE!
So glad you had your camera with you. Thanks for posting these happiest of flowers. Hair is looking fab! Meredith xo.
now that’s a field to play in! Oh wow! Amazing! Great pics and they made me smile! Thanks! I love when I see cool stuff and actually have my camera with me. Great shots.
Awesome! Are those on 24th street? I found a sunflower field there a few years ago and got some good pictures, but definitely not as good as these! Kansas is lovely. i don’t know if i have ever seen a field of sunflowers. that is pretty cool. i tried to grow some this year… yeah… not so good. I remember you had some in your backyard in dp right? Very cool pics. Man oh man do I love those pictures!!!! And I love your new hair too!!! Beautiful photos and Oh yay my pillow is coming! π Awesome, incredible pictures!! Love the hair cut, so cute
amazingly beautiful!!! love all your KS images…i’m in ne ks. The pictures are breathtaking. Really. And your hair style looks so cute! Thanks for sharing some more great photos.
beautiful sunflowers. you. crack. me. up. your hair is totally cute. i’ve been ready for a new do for the past year and can’t get myself to just do it already. wow those are awesome! beautiful pics π Love the sunflowers! So pretty! And your hair – very cute! beautiful!! I adore sunflowers!! Love the sunflowers!!!!! They are amazing!! LOVE the hair! Sunflowers are very pretty, too. Can you tell us more about your camera??? xoxo We have them popping up everywhere, too, and I cannot stop taking pics of them! Yours look completely illuminated from within. Lovely!
before i even read the lines, i thought “ooooo, mama had herself a clip and colah!” very cute. and the flowers (and photography) are insane. TOTALLY cute hairdo!!! You look adorable, although you did before the new do too!
I love sunflowers. I keep planting them but the chipmunks keep eating them.
i promised talby a photo shoot…with her pettiskirt and pigtails. i picked a field that was full of queen anne's lace and wildflowers.
then it rained and rained all week.
one evening when it was clear we took off..20 minutes past when i was hoping.
we stopped for balloons….another part of the promise.
the woman at the floral counter was……..S.L.O.W.
we first asked for 10 balloons but settled on 6 because she was soooooo SLOW.
then we went to the car and two popped…because she'd over filled them.
but we were losing light so we left with 4.
we drove the 10 minutes to the perfect field….
and it had been mowed down.
we drove on to find another but could not find wildflowers
so we settled for corn and the sunset.
then another balloon popped.
and yet….the pictures are still lovely.
(click on this one.)
sweet annie was there too…of course.
sigh……….
i want to skip in a field with a poofy skirt too.
i really do.
these girls are my everyday.
i love them.
i love being their mom.
i love our everydays.
especially the days that we end up in field with (only) 3 balloons at sunset.
Hi, Meg! I just love your pictures of the sunflowers at my “ole home” in Peabody! Wished we’d had those sunflowers when I was growing up, as they would have totally enriched my life, although I loved the wheat and still have some in our home in Manhattan Beach, Ca. Love the pictures of your absolutely darling children! They are the cutest, hanging out in the sunflowers! Thanks for stopping by. Carolyn called me yesterday to tell me about your blog and Becky is here visiting us now and we are loving and chatting about your exquisitely beautiful pictures!! Enjoy!!
Perfect.
The skirts are adorable – I was also wondering if you made annie’s and if so what pattern was it (we are big time into skirts at my house)
I just love looking at your blog. You take such pretty photographs! Your girls are very beautiful! The one with Annie looking up at Talby, it actually made me cry right now! I think they are perfect in there own imperfect way, and the story is even better, what beautiful girls and loving sister you have.
How heartwarmingly perfect, even though it wasn’t what you planned! Precious! these are great! I wish I wasn’t all the way in Oklahoma! Oh Meg these are perfect! Now that is a perfect Mommy day in my book! Noticed the teen wasn’t there? I would have to rent a few kids to do that my teen would die of embarrassment ….I mean what if some one saw her! Great photos! Your girls are so adorable.
those are sweet pictures. and sweet girls. you’re such a cool mom. apparently i’ve been such a bad one–much worse than usual–my daughter asked my husband if i could move away. I wish you could photograph my girl. π Like so many others, I love Talby looking up at the balloons and Annie looking up at her. The skirts rock! Gorgeous! Love the one of Talby looking up at the balloons and Annie looking up at Talby – stunning as always! GUSH!!!!! so sweet!!!
Oh, I LOVE them. The little chair is the coolest idea. I love Annie’s skirt. Did you make it? I love the picture where Annie is looking up at Talby like, “She is so cool.” So beautiful! Great job, Meg π So perfect! I love these pictures!!! You are such an incredible Mommy and inspiration to us all. I wish I knew you in real life. For now, I’ll settle for knowing you in “reel” life. (I have been on vacation for two and a half weeks and yours is the first blog I checked because it is my absolute favorite!!!) Awesome pictures. The one of Annie looking at Talby is heartbreakingly sweet. Wish I could take pictures like you. xoxo
These brought the most incredible amount of joy to me today! Gorgeous shots and gorgeous girls. You are a sweet mama! Your girls are too adorable. Love the pics, especially the one of the two of them on the chair together. π Great pictures – LOVE the light through the balloons on the first one and #6 is just priceless!! great pics, i just love your blog LOVE
What precious photos! I love them. Also love the junk idea in your last post and last year’s junk man! Great ideas. These are gorgeous! I love the close up of her with the balloons and grinning. I love the one of Annie looking up at her, and I really, really love the one of her running alongside the road! I feel like I was there! Great job! these pictures are great! i love the way the sun shines through the balloons. your girls are beautiful π and you have some great photos to remember your day by – balloons aplenty or not so many :O) My oh my! You are so good. Do you ever get tired of hearing that? I love the time of day…you caught it just right.
beautiful meg! and so sweet…! sigh… so sweet. i love the photos of the girls together. you can just feel the love.
These pictures are so beautiful… whst lovely ladies! -e These are great – and I enjoyed the story behind the pictures π you have two adorable girls! Beautiful!!! Love the one of Annie in the chair looking up at her big sis. This photo shoot took perserverance. Sometimes our best plans have to be altered and we have to just go with the ebb and flow of it all. End result – fabulous! Love em!! I want to move so you can take Maddie’s pictures and so she can play with your girls! π These are awesome. Totally captures a little girls dreams. I Love them. Every girl should own a pink tutu I think. =) amazing! I love the one of Talby sitting in the chair and looking up at the balloons. I also love the one of Annie sitting in the chair and looking up at Talby. GREAT photos. Kelly You’r family is so blessed to have all your wonderful photos to look back on. You’r a great photographer, makes me want to live in Kansas. Oh look at those girls and that skirt is too darling!!! Love your everyday! so cute…i love the one of annie looking up at her big sis…priceless. your girls are precious! they are so lucky to have each other…and for you to capture it…perfect!
Talby looks so much like you. And I think the sunlight looks perfect. <3 Awww! Such beautiful pictures, and such bneautiful girls. (: I want to wear a big poofey skirt as well! What amazing shots – you have such a gift (I think I say that every time I comment!!) My favorites are the 2nd and last…and of course the ones with Annie! Adorable!
π this made me happy. yeah…we're in the middle of nowhere. yeah…we don't have oceans or mountains or starfish
yeah…we are full of rednecks.
yeah…we don't have any movie stars here.
BUT it is beautiful here.
June in Kansas is my favorite time of year.
on the radio in my car was "We're from the Country"
how fitting.
now…if i knew what anything about farming…that would be even cooler!
************************************************************************
don't forget to vote today…you rocked it yesterday! ***************************************************************************************** totally random…i just walked by sean's room… he is in there playing legos alone…singing Joy to the World…as loud as he can. funny. Those pics could be from my family farm! I’m now a city girl in the East and I do miss the wide open spaces in SW Kansas! The best sunsets and the golden waves of grain are truly breathtaking! I live in Kansas! Born and raised. It gets boring sometimes but I have lots of green space around me, No horrible traffic, nice people that wave at you when you are driving even if they don’t know you, a house that I could never afford anywhere else, good schools and great neighbors. Wouldn’t live anywhere else. Just had to comment about this. I’ve lived in southern California my entire life,43 years. I’ve worked in the movie business and I know a lot of people. But here in so-cal. Everything is so contrived. People aren’t real and you HAVE to lock your doors and car. We have a lot of traffic, the cost of living is rediculous and its a real challenge to instill family values in your kids when everyone is so concerned about what they wear & drive. I’m sure some areas have a sense of community but I dont have it for my kids. I’m a very outgoing person and I find it really hard to make meaningful relationships. I would move to the heartland in a hot minute if I could. Oooh! I’m so happy I found your blog (via The Inspired Room’s Melissa)!! I was born and raised in Kansas and now live in Colorado. It’s so nice to be reminded of my roots and how much I still love it there. Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Seriously, Kansas is awesome!
Just moved here…you captured it perfect. Love the sunsets here. It looks so beautiful!
great photos. cuttin’ wheat – i love that time of year. we won’t be doing that until the mid to end of July. you need to be taking photos at the old farm. awesome.
You can make a picture of a truck look incredible π I love that Sean was playing Legos…alone….and I LOVE that he was singing Joy to the World π Gonna go vote! Thank you for the beautiful photos. I’ve lived in Iowa and miss is so much.
These are lovely. Starfish and oceans are great, but there is something to be said about wide open spaces! Kansas looks beautiful!
I’ve been living on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland almost all my life and I never thought I could move to a middle-of-the-country state where all the land is flat. I am surrounded by mountains, ocean, reservoirs, bays, cities, etc. I would feel trapped in those middle states. Lol. But you sure make it beautiful with those pics!! You captured the Midwest beautifully! I love living in the Midwest – don’t think I could ever leave! beautiful. hoping to see it in person some day! I love farms. I wish I grew up on one. There’s a little patch in the middle of my town that still grows corn. I get so excited to see it growing. I hope they never develop that land – it would be a horrible day for me! I LOVE Kansas too. I’m always telling Ryan how beautiful Kansas is. And he always tells me I’m preaching to the chior. Great pics! Yes, but you have summer thunderstorms that leave that sweet smell of wet grass when they are done; you have fire flies to run and catch in big glass jars with holes in the lid; you have clear skies not plagued with smog; and you have quiet summer suburb nights where you can leave the windows open and only hear the sounds of crickets. Kansas is a good place to live and your kids are your very own movie stars that you worship and adore. π Nothing like the Midwest. I love it. GORGEOUS pictures!! yes…it is a lovely state! I enjoyed seeing all the combines “workin’ it” out in the field. I’ve never been in June–usually in late fall-winter. No oceans-No starfish—but what you have is a mean sunset across a wheatfield!
what you do mean no celebrities?! you have DOROTHY!! π That’s funny, we both did similar posts today about our little neighboring states π Lovely picures – Kansas tourist board should hire you, you’d soon have the tourists flocking there π Kansas certainly looks beautiful, I’ll have to visit one day. Your blog got my vote! Your pictures are great! I love your “amber waves of grain” shot! Love Kansas, my parents met and married in Kansas, both my sisters were born there, my best friend in the world was born and raised there.
Never been to Kansas but your pictures are beautiful so Kansas must be too. You take seriously the most “lively” pictures! I love the one with the cows the best. You must be a photographer…i just came across your blog yesterday and can’t even remeber how…too much random time at work! But I had to ask what kind of camera you have. I know it’s mostly skill but your pictures jump off the page! they are amazing! i love them!!
Beautiful pictures! Would love to live in the country, but in the meantime, will happily live vicariously through your blog. π
your lucky, i am in CA and can’t wait to leave to a more simple life, i love the pics It looks so beautiful. I would move to the middle of nowhere anyday if I could! I spent my summers with my grandparents in Eureka so these pics bring back incredible summer memories. Also now craving the tastiness that is corn picked from the field then served with freshly caught fish. Meg – those cows look like they are posing for you! Absolutely beautiful. I actually drove from Oklahoma to Kansas City in the spring, and I marveled at how beautiful the fields were. It had been raining, so everything was grey and vivid green. Amazing…
LOVE the pictures and the song on the radio is one of my favs considering the fact that I actually am from the Country – Arkansas to be exact! HA! Have a great weekend, Meg! :o) makes me wish I was in Kansas, right now wearing no shoes and sporting overalls. oh my, it is beautiful! thanks for sharing!! Your photos are breathtaking. Love ’em. I was just stuck in a traffic jam on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood while I was taking my son to a playdate. Came home, opened this and started to cry! Man, would I rather be walking through a cornfield! These are all so great – although I see these things around me, they just seem prettier when someone else points them out. The Midwest is a lovely place to live and since I’m only in week 7, I’m still discovering all of it. Happy to be here! Beautiful pictures, as always. holy cow your corn is so tall compared to ours in Michigan! I voted for you yesterday… I’ll go vote again π
holy moly! you are killin the competition! you rock, meg(an)! BEAUTIFUL! The pictures of the wheat are just gorgeous!
y’know? i think kansas has some pretty sexy wheatfields. your pictures are lovely. eye candy! is that queen anne’s lace? if it is, i’m in love. even if it’s not. . . i’m still in love. Wow, I never thought anyone could make me miss Kansas…but I LOVE that 3rd pic! i spent the day on a first grade field trip. i was in charge of three girls for the day…wandering the zoo.
usually when i take my kids to the zoo we don't stay too long.
we have member passes so we can go whenever.
we go and see a few things and then go home.
all day was a long time for me to wander the zoo! (boo hoo right? cue the violins…)
i felt like that giraffe.
bad mommy.
we said goodbye at the bus….i drove to hobby lobby for a whirlwind visit.
grabbed a giant sonic happy hour drink…
buzzed back home.
got a HUGE headache at 4:30 that put me to bed at 6:00 for 45 minutes.
i did not feed my kids dinner.
annie came in while i was resting my head and whined about 4 times "i'm hun-gry"
(it WAS dinner time)
but instead of being nice and sweet…
i yelled "then go get some food!"
(she does it all day everyday on her own with out any help from me…)
she started to cry and left the room.
my head was still pounding and i was back asleep within a minute.
later we found her asleep in her bed.
poor annie…probably cried herself to sleep from mean old migraine mommy dearest…with no dinner!
so there it is.
monday.
bleck.
it's over.
good riddance.
Thanks for being honest about being grouchy to your kids. Makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one! that sucks. i have had 1 migrane. it was terrible. made me puke. i never want another one, ever. Oh my, you make me LAUGH! That picture of the giraffe, and that’s how you feel at the zoo – HA! Thank you for making the everyday so much fun, and with gorgeous photos too (I am saving up for a camera like yours!)! Oh dear, migraines truly are the worst. I suffer from them too, luckily I only get a few a year though. We have all had moments when we have yelled at our children, they get over it quickly. I hope your feeling better!!! You are such a hoot. I have to agree with another commentor up there on the list. I too have been “blog stalking” you. Your blog never fails to make me laugh, smile or cry. I just love the way you write and your photos are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for being such a big part of my blogging day!!
So I have been “blog stalking” you since December and I LOVE your Blog! I check nearly every day. You have taken the place of Martha Stewart in my heart LOL! Today I was having a rather hard mommy day and thought of your blog. And I thought “man if I could just get it together too!” But I knew you couldn’t be perfect and wondered what you struggle with. Then I logged on this evening and low and behold you are normal like the rest of us! I just knew it had to be true! God bless you for sharing your life with us all, it is such an encouragement to craft, decorate, befriend, create and mother!!! I’m sorry you had a bad Monday but I am glad that you were so real about it. We all have days like this! Hope you are feeling better. Our school does the same thing for first and second grade, a trip to the zoo and the parents are the ones that watch the kids. The teachers “supervise” from the picnic tables. I know they work very hard at school but it is so much responsibility to watch 2 or 3 other kids! Last year I had to do it 2 weeks in a row. No trip to the zoo this year!
I don’t know you, but you are hilarious! Its so great when a mom is real–it makes all of us feel better for the times when we’ve been mommy migraine. Thanks for making my day a little lighter aahhhh! welcome to the club!!! you are one of us….you had us fooled for a while with all of your craftyness, cute dog,and happy rainbow kid! you just made us all feel a little bit more normal! sorry about the headache…thanks for being real! hope today was better! thanks for being real hilarity! we all certainly have our moments. try excedrin for the headache- works for me.
Ugh…I feel your pain. Migraines suck. And, usually, so do field trips. =)
I’m so jealous!!!! Wichita has an incredible zoo. We try to make a visit whenever we are in town. But I definitely hear you on the joys of having a membership and short visits! With my 2 year-old we sometimes last a half hour, we sometimes make it 3, but it so nice not to feel like you MUST stay all day to make it worth the money. Everyone enjoys themselves and you get to see different things each visit!
Ugh…migraines are the worst…especially when there are small children involved! Thanks for being real. That gave me a good chuckle… thank you! π
Life is like that. I just yelled at my daughter for not focusing while getting dressed. The mean part about that is she has a REALLY difficult time doing it… she has CP. Why do we take things out on our kids? We always feel horrible afterwards, and it never gets us anywhere? Somedays I want to pray for more patience, but then I realize to get more patience you have to go through more things that try your patience. This rain doesn’t help me. Hope you headache goes away. Glad you keep it real for all!
My Chicken Blanch looks like she had a twin on your field trip! Check her out on my blog…
All day at a zoo with kids? Wow, that’s just asking for a headache… hi! I’ve been lurking your AMAZING blog too, and GOSH you’re mean lol. I just wanted to stop in and and say thank you too….for keeping it real. I often feel like this with 3 little boys and one is special needs. Mine happen all too often I’m sure, but I’m learning to grasp this life God has given me and really enjoy it more often! I hope today is a happier one for you and little Annie =]
I remember a fieldtrip that just ZAPPED me. I somehow made it thru the day (even road a loud, bouncy bus back), fell into bed and slept for about 2 hours with a HORRIBLE headache!! Teachers who do it daily are amazing. I teach 3 times a week and it zaps me….by the way…..great pics and Im sure Annie will recover..lol. I miss my kids being little. I do not miss field trips. Aww…. Meg – I hope you have a much better day today and that migraine is gone so poor little Annie doesn’t get mistreated again and sent to bed with no food – LOL – you KNOW I am JUST kidding – right?! I actually THREATENED my kids (who are both 15) with sending them to bed the other night with no dinner and they laughed at me! They said that was child abuse! LOL Sooo… I feel your pain and I am sorry that the zoo day was a bad day all the way around – however, on an upside – you got some GREAT pictures, as usual! Have a great day, Meg! {{{BIG HUGS}}} Trac~ :o) Ha! One time I had a migraine and my 3 year old wouldn’t stop playing in my closet pulling clothes off hangers, but I was in too much pain to close the door or give her something else to do, so I told her there was a giant spider in my closet. It worked. I’m going to have to show her that picture of the giraffe – it’s awesome, and those are her favorite animals!
Oh bless your heart! Field trips did me in everytime! But now I miss them. What’s a mom to do??
meg, i nearly squealed with delight when i saw your comment. the only thing that made me cover my mouth was my sleeping 10 month old. i mean, i’m not ready to walk out the door yet, so why wake her, right? i have those days too. and i have NO idea why i haven’t commented yet. i’m usually pretty good at making myself at home. to borrow a word from erika and darby, i would love to snorgle the face of that cute waffle.
I’ve recently started lurking on your blog, and I appreciate your honesty in this story! I can resonate with it all too well, and I only have one small child! π BTW – Your house is amazing! ooohh lady…i call this “mean mommy mode” unfortunately my girls know the term all too well…thank goodness kids seem to have quicker reset/forgive/forget buttons than adults do! i am sure you and annie will have an awesome tuesday…at least that is what i am hoping for you this a.m.! oh boy… what a day… it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that suffers bleck Mondays! Lucky me… I’m going to miss my son’s pre K zoo trip. I’ll be out of town with the baby! My dear mil is stepping in. phew.
WOW!! You ARE real!!!! You mean you’re not the constantly perfect, constantly creative, constantly attentive, constantly cool mom I’ve been thinking you are all this time!??! You have no idea the pressure you just took off of me!!!! LOL!!! Hope you’re feeling better… Annie too!! Yes, thanks for keeping it real. I have been guilty of doing the same. Today is a new day! Smiles and hugs!!! I LOVE your blog! Everyday I tune in to see what super hero mom act you are doing for that day……… I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you don’t hide anything! Glad to see that I am not the only mommy who gets migrain so bad that I have to hide in my bed and pray that no one finds me (some how they always do)! Hope you have a better Tuesday!
i hope your tuesday is more pleasant and no headaches .. those can just end any good times … for everyone involved. so hip hip hooray for tuesday today!!! have fun, hug annie 10 times extra today for her crying and all will be well again!!! π Thanks Meg for keepin’ it real!! here’s a big hug for you! I leave today for a 3 day (overnight) 8th grade field trip to Huntsville Alabama (space camp)and I am NOT very excited about it. I’m sure I will feel like the Giraffe… We’ve all been there. Knowing the great mom you are, you and Annie will both feel all better today. Here’s to a happy Tuesday! I hate field trips — honestly, haven’t our kids done enough? You are such a classic – I know exactly how that feels. I stayed up late last night and my son decided to wake me at 6:30, which to some may seem late but for him is really very early …and I was not a happy camper! that i could go to wendy's…
for a fwwosty…
a chocolate one….
not the mixed kind…
and i wish for micah and lizzie to come over….
and watch peep.
great pictures. i just love this post. my 4 year old anya has been making wishes every day. things like: “i wish for a play date with jackson.” “i wish for cupcakes.” “i wish mommy will be my best friend forever.” that last one brought a tear to my eye. by the way, love the new look with the froggy photo – just awesome! The series is so great…….
Gorgeous photos. I wish you were closer to CT! I’d love for you to take pictures of my babies. Oh I love this post!!! We made wishes on dandelions just yesterday!!! Only our’s was for a Master Yoda?????!!!!! Great pics!
Its amazing how a little thing like that can brighten your day! She is SUCH a cutie pie! No wonder so many of your photos are of her.
Hey Meg, I just posted about my pillow, thanks again! Best picture post ever. π Love it. I’m so jealous of your camera and picture taking abilities!
Your blog is so sweet and refreshing! I just love visiting here each day! aw man… precious!! I am so glad that little Annie is my neighbor! so sweet! What a cutie pie!
so sweet!! did the wishes come true?!? everyone needs fwosties and friends!
Just wanted to say Hi! You have a blog that inspired me to start my own…thanks π
Awww! I hope all her wishes come true! Now I want a frosty…great pics! soooooo?????????? wish come true?? Beautiful… just beautiful. Absolutely Precious! Thank you Ugh, could her little haircut be any cuter?! Those are adorable! Oh, to have the wishes of children and to be so happy with simple things! Very cute! I see that you won something on the Creative Blog – what did you win? so sweet! i wouldn’t mind a fwwosty… they have coffee kinds now π
I don’t blame her. I want a fwwrosty too!!
oh my gosh what a series for printing! i was just watching a photography video and the woman who was teaching was using her home (and photos of her children) as a kind of “gallery” of family photos to show clients. she does this to give them ideas about what they can do with the photos she takes of their children and she had the most wonderful HUGE, HUGE canvases and lots of adorable series like this one of annie. you should consider that for your wonderful home…. and your growing photography business π gorgeous! did her wishes come true? how can you say no to a face like that? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! i miss the days maddie was that little and life was that simple! π those are some of my favorite pictures I have EVER seen!! smile…. changing it up with the new season. ok….annnnnnnnd that's enough of spring.
i am ready for summer!
sun.
bbq…watermelon…ice cream…
watching the kids swim.
gardening.
SUN!
back to my favorite header missy π i don’t know why it seems that the sun is shining there for you eery single day. but you do make wonderful use of it with your camera π i’ve missed you! I wish Spring would come over here. You guys should come back for more skiing. I here spring skiing is the best and we keep getting plenty of fresh powder. I think the farmer’s almanac said it would warm up in July. No kidding. Love the new header, love it all! I love the photo of my rabbit-eaten tulip. Those dang guys! Beautiful photos. Man oh man, do I ever love flower photos. you and me both……bring on summer!
I’m loving the spring weather but I want it to be summer so we don’t have to stick to a schedule. Shocker! I want the best of both worlds. Just call me Hannah. My thoughts exactly! Lovely pics — recently had some sweet dandelion moments with my tots. we haven’t really had any spring yet so i will be happy with just a bit of that. we don’t even have any blooms yet. hopefully by the end of the week. ha ha funny post! pretty post but funny π I’m ready for Summer too – we’ve had too much rain this spring!!!! It’s funny – our daffodils were blooming Jan 4th this year – they are long gone – it’s fun to see the seasons at different times across the country!!!! Yes, I am a summer girl too! Lovein’ the new header also!!!! Anytime you feel like perpetual summer, head down to South Florida and I’ll meet you at the beach!
ditto! Love the new header! Perfect. Loving my new pillows too, hope you got my pictures of them in their new home? Ready for summer too…
Ooh, love that tulip!! Great new header. The dichotomy between the chipped nail polish & the frog is priceless!!
Lovely photography as always. And, the header is precious….chipped fingernail polish is the cutest part! That is a great header pic, but I am going to have to scroll down fast now each time I open your blog. I HATE FROGS. I mean hate as in they are worse than snakes, mice, roaches…pretty much anything. Creeps me out a bit just seeing those cute chipped-nail polished hands holding that horrid thing! I’d give anything just to have spring here to stay. We are supposed to get snow on Tuesday. So I’m say bring on spring where ever it is. π

Chelsea - I love Sarah’s on Mass! Probably the most extensive fabric store I’ve ever been to. Granted, I’ve only been to ones in Utah, Arizona, and now Kansas, but Sarah’s is my favorite by FAR!
julie - You make me want to move to Kansas. Please tell the sunflowers to hold out until September 20th.
Sara Cameli - Meg, the sunflowers are amazing…you have such a great eye. (eyes!) ha ha
alice - i wanna go next time! i love your sunflower shots – how gorgeous!
scrappysue - stunning photos
Ruth - amazing, beautiful sunflowers! i distinctly remember getting bribed with a my little pony at the doctors getting shots as a kid… but i still screamed, so no pony for me. scarred for life, huh π
Aubrey - your 55 mph pic makes me want an SLR more than ever and i resent that they’re out of my price range. π
i love all that fabric you bought–your taste is so cute and fun. somehow i manage to still come away from fabric stores with boring stuff–i guess i’m not very brave, but I’m working on it. π
Christina - I love your commentary on your life!
And that field is absolutely stunning! Your pictures are wonderful.
Mary - What a post!!! Interesting and beautiful. What pictures!!!!
heather - i’m sure you get this all the time, but your photos are truly inspirational! having just moved from the mild climate and lush green of Wisconsin to the extreme climate and dead brown of far southern Texas, I find little these days to smile about. this post, however, cracked a smile and brought a little perspective to my less than sunny disposition. thanks. I look forward to stopping in to your blog more often!
cheers,
*heather*
Cate O'Malley - Love the sunflowers at sunset – so beautiful! Love the happy fabrics too! Sounds like a great weekend! (I think I use too many exclamation points, but so hard to give up)
Tonya - where is this sunflower field?
Hannah - I LOVE the sunflower pictures!
I came across your blog a couple of months ago and I’m just now getting around to commenting, haha. I love your pictures, they are so full of life!
Kasey - Gorgeous photos!
mom - What – You mention that I have a B-B gun, but don’t mention the trap??? Ha!
If I come across an “Owl” T-shirt, I’ll be sure to get it for you. Ho Ho Ho!
Julia - If I send a self addressed stamped envelope do you think you could send those sunflowers to me?
Aunt Becky - Lovely pictures! You make me want to be a better photographer.
Also? Congrats, yo. I won for best humor and you? You deserve it for eye candy. Because this is exactly what your blog is. Eye Candy. Rock on.
Linda - I love the sunflowers and that your able to take pictures of the kiddos with them. Here in Texas,we take pictures of the bluebonnets fields when they are blooming. Love them all!!!
Dani - I love Sunflowers! Absolutely beautiful pictures! I’m jealous that there are no fileds around here. I’d be there every morning when the sun rises to thank God for all His wonderful works!
Christy - Awesome, awesome pictures! The sunflowers are HUGE!
I LOL about the My Little Pony bribe & the don’t talk to mommy. Sometimes I think I come to work for a break. π

Wendy - Wonderful pics, Meg. Again…. you brighten my morning. π Thanks.
Laura Phelps - I want YOUR weekend. Mine was uninspiring, and I hate that.
I also am missing my sisters so much.
Be so grateful you are close to family.
I regret moving from mine so much
yet have to believe
that this is a path God put me on
and I need to trust in Him and that it will lead m to where I need to be
And that now…even so far..I am exactly where He needs me.
Sarah - The school supply shopping…I know how you feel…PLEASE stop talking so my brain can interpret some information, kids! I finally got smart (it took years and years of re-learning the lesson) and take one kid out at a time and throw a stop for icecream or lunch or ANYTHING in on the way. It’s just too much stuff…5 kids X a jillion things they need + the end of summer vacation = major breakdown by mom in Target.
Emily - gorgeous pictures! thanks for the reminder to always keep a camera handy and an eye open for great moments!
Logan - The sunflowers are wonderful!!! I enjoyed the pictures you took the other day, but these are even better. Please tell Annie that we missed seeing her smiling face with those of her brother and sister.
Rebekah - “Please don’t talk to mommy for a while.” Too funny. π And I can totally relate!
Debra Cripps - Hi
I just finished reading through your blog. You are the sweetest mom I have seen in a long time. Your children are gorgeous! My two girls are in their mid twenties now but I remember having all the same thoughts and feelings as you are now. You are not alone! I love your photos and love your love of colour! The best part is that you love God! I’m so glad I found your blog.
Hugs from Debra up in Canada
Renee - I love your posts. They make me feel like I’m not completely messing up this motherhood thing (like when you told Annie not to talk to you anymore — that’s totally something I would say!). Your pictures are so beautiful. Great story, too. xoxo
Anna Marie - Beautiful photos Megan! I also have a BB gun…got it for Christmas from my husband in fact :o) I use mine for raccoons, opossums and mean cats and dogs. It works! π
Take care and have a great day!
traci - wow meg, what a great weekend. love all the sunflowers. they are so beautiful!! i need to go check and see if ours are looking that good. i think the boys planted some.
Dana D @BoysMyJoys - The pictures are beautiful!
And the fabric… I can’t wait to see what amazing creations will be in your shop soon!
Love the camo- don’t all boy mamas?
Any chance you’ll decide to make camera straps out of any of that fabulous fabric? I’d be first in line to buy one!
Vicki - I just wanted to let you know I follow your blog and love your pictures. I don’t remember how I got over here (from who’s blog) but your pictures are always so amazing.
I just had to tell you that your sunflower pictures brought a huge smile to my face. I LOVE sunflowers (have a tattoo of one) – they are my favorite think to see. How I wish I could have stood in that field!! Thank you for sharing these pictures – I just loved them!!!
Leah - The rabbits are starting to nibble on our vegetable garden too! Darn little bunnies! I love that your mom has a bb gun for them! When i was about 10 I had a bb gun with a scope. Well, my dad said if I shot a bird we could eat it for dinner. Well, I spent all day outside trying to shoot a bird. I finally got one and it was the saddest thing ever. I will spare you the details. Anyhow, I was proud of myself and took it to my dad. I was crushed when he said we couldnt eat that kind. I didn’t know he meant quail and not any old cactus wren. I cried my eyes out and buried the poor thing. Thats I dont think I can bring myself to shoot a bunny…even if its taking a bite out of my garden. Im sure the men wont bat an eye though π
Sheryl - Loving your pictures, as usual!
Whitni - These pictures are so lovely. I did a tiny mention of you in my post today, just giving you heads up π
I hope you find time to sit and sew, I would love to take sweet little Annie off your hands for a while but well you live in Kansas and I live in Georgia! Ha!
Hope you have a great week!

Christy - 1 – LOVE the new header picture.
2 – Thanks for posting the caterpillar pictures. We had a field of milkweeds across the street from our house growing up and I used to spend all summer playing house with those caterpillars. I showed my 14 year old daughter and she said – who needs dolls when you have caterpillars?
3 β I saw you won Best Eye Candy Blog in the BlogLuxe Awards. I thought β WELL OF COURSE! Your blog and PWβs are the 2 I most look forward to every day. I love looking at your pictures. Especially the ones of your kids. I love your perspective. Do you crop them like that or is that just how you take them?
4 β How did the bar do fake wind and fake snow?
Amber - Wow. I’ve never seen a sunflower field like that before. Of course I’ve never been to Kansas either. π Have a great day today!!
Amber
Heather - I would love to hear what you think of that potato salad recipe. I usually love Pioneer Woman’s Recipes, but the “mashed potato” salad seemed a little odd to me π
P.S. The sunflowers and your kids are both gorgeous!
anna - i love the rows and rows of sunflowers. so pretty. my favorite time of day during the year is when the sun is setting in the late summer/early fall. i love the way the sun makes all the green crops golden. oh my goodness. that is a glimpse of heaven to me. (i grew up on a farm, so it also reminds me of home.)
