another last of the firsts….

Tooth

i have had just about enough of this growing up junk!
she needs to stop it.
just stop.
kids aren't supposed to lose teeth until first grade.
this is so unfair to the mama.

but it's pretty cute either way.

especially when it fell out while eating a brownie.
she looked horrified and i said "what's wrong?"
and she spit out her tooth!
then her eyes got huge and her smile was ear to ear (with brownie all over mouth) and she screamed
"I'M GONNA GET MONEY FROM THE TOOTH FAIRY!!!!"
and skipped away to tell her siblings.

craig looked at me and we both made the face that means "that is the cutest thing ever" to each other.

George Quirk - How much did she get from the tooth fairy? OK, jokes aside, I agree that it’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. I can’t even stop laughing right now. =D

Tammy @ Making a House a Home! - Aw, she is so cute! Congratulations Annie! They grow up so fast!
My daughter always kept her teeth, she didn’t want the tooth fairy to take them away! Not even for money!

coffee and daisies - i know how you feel about the youngest growing up to quickly. i have a daughter that is 6 and even though i love the idea of her maturing and being independent, i can’t help but still (desperately) look for features that remind me of when she was a baby…(does that make sense?)
i love the fact that her hands still look little and chubby, she sleeps with a teddy bear, and she still loves to be cuddled…yay!
they grow up TOO FAST!!!!!
sigh.

Crystal @ Ordinary Days - I sooooo know how you feel. Tonight we had a “Hanging of the Greens” service at church. Megan snuggled in my lap the whole time and I held her a couple times when we were standing. It hit me hard that this would be the last hanging of the greens service where I would probably be able to hold her. 🙁 Why do they have to get bigger?

Lisa - Aw! That makes me want to cry! And she’s not even my baby girl! haha. I know my day will come…

Kat - Another beautiful milestone.
So glad you recorded it with a photo 🙂

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Stop it!!! Calvin just lost his tooth – the one right beside Annie’s goner – an hour ago! Sniff sniff. And I thought the same thing – it’s supposed to happen NEXT year!

Lorilee - AWWW! She looks so excited! I lost my first tooth LITERALLY! I dropped it down the drain while rinsing it off! I am looking very pathetic in the photo my mom took! The tooth fairy did come.
Blessings,
Lorilee

Lindsay - PRECIOUS!

Melanie - She looks so cute!

Julie - I’m always a little sad when I know that we’ve experienced a last time for a first among our brood of five too. Hubby and I also have the “cutest thing ever look” for those moments ~ sweet! Your Annie is so cute! 🙂

pam - I LOVE her reaction! She is adorable. It is hard to watch them keep growing up…especially the youngest one….so many first lasts with them. Our oldest lost her first tooth a week before her 5th birthday. We were eating out, I looked over at her and she had her hand out with something small and white on it. She had tears and said, “I’m loosing body parts”. I didn’t know it happened that young and none of her friends had lost any. Needless to say we were all trying to control our laughter while we told her it was part of life.

april - she does look so happy….conrats annie….love the pic….<3

Marisol Avila - So cute!! You can see the happiness in her eyes & smile!
PS – Where did you get the polaroid frame? 🙂

Courtney Walsh - awww, she is early! My son just lost his first tooth and he’s an OLD first grader (already seven.) I was starting to imagine him graduating high school with two rows of baby teeth. lol It IS adorable though! 🙂

Amy - Our sweet daughter, who is is kindergarten, JUST lost her first tooth yesterday TOO!! I got a bit teary eyed as well….They look alike!!
Congrats to sweet Annie!!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - i’m a sap too…it’s okay!

Holly - oh how sweet! My boy doesnt have any loose teeth yet so it is looking like first grade before he will lose his!

Shannon - Ha ha! My youngest lost her first tooth eating a fruit roll-up! What’s even better is that she had no clue…she swallowed the tooth and didn’t even realize she’d lost it!

Amy Lynne - Mine started losing teeth in Kindergarten too. My oldest lost his first tooth at school. I picked him up and knew something was different about his smile. It was too cute!

Grace - Congratulations, Annie!
(Great picture, Momma!)

Jessica Kujawa - Such a cute picture! My daughter started losing hers at 5 yrs. old and I said the same thing…first grade pics are supposed to be the ones with teeeth missing…not kindergarten! 9 teeth later and counting! sheesh…

Nikki - Yay Annie 🙂 How much does the tooth fairy pay in America?
I was reading Mary’s comment above about forgeting to leave money. I forgot for not one, but two nights… I felt so bad… but covered up by saying that the tooth fairy couldn’t find it. On the 3rd night Yana left notes all over the house… thank goodness the tooth fairy came 😉

Heather - Ahhhhh. I hear you. My oldest lost her first two teeth earlier this year. IN JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN!!!! She had barely turned five. 🙁

Mary - I just hope the tooth fairy remembers to stop by. Have you ever seen a child’s face walk down for breakfast with tooth in had that the tooth fairy had forgotten, followed by a panic look exchanged between parents? Not a proud parent moment but one they will remind you of and laugh about as teenagers!

Beth @ Dirty Laundry - I tell them to stop growing ALL THE TIME! No one ever listens to me. Congratulations to Annie. I hope the tooth fairy remembers!

Sophie - Aww, this is so precious! I can still remember the first time I lost a tooth – I was absolutely terrified!
Congrats, ‘lil lady! (:

Janelle - And after making that face to each other, are you sure you didn’t add, “are you sure you don’t want just ONE MORE?!” – ha! Because that’s what I would have said to my hubby…

out takes

i called craig outside to take our birthday picture with annie before he changed out of his suit.
he wears a suit everyday.
i love that he does….so handsome.

my hairdresser is sunning herself in the caribbean and i have to wait.
i just want you to know that i am aware of this problem.
and wanted you to feel confident that i am most definitely a brunette.

IMG_3156
#4  she always gives long kisses & her mouth is always half open….makes for a sloppy kiss….but it is her thing!

IMG_3162
#6  oops….sock is falling down.

IMG_3167

IMG_3184
#12  never mind.  forget it.  let's go open presents.

christine - those are so great 🙂 and #9? Photoshop, my friend. Easy-peasy! Send it to me and I’ll remove the ears for ya!

Christina - Pretty darling. I like #8!
And the first bunny ears…could you tilt it to one side, cropping out the ears? 🙂

jeanne - Annie is so stinkin cute!!!

Valerie - Don’t you think that the best pictures you take are the ones not so serious and definitely not posed. Love all of them. So cute!

Maria - where would we be without digital cameras? I don’t think I’d ever get a decent shot without one! so cute!

Grace - Love Annie’s smile in #10. Your family’s smiles exude the fact that they are loved. 🙂

michelle - oh my word!!! you crack me up. i love the pictures. ALL of them. but, especially the ones of you and all your girls. so so sweet to the bones. i think i need to get a remote for my camera and try this with my family. we never get pictures together!

Tammy @ The Sabourin Family - LOL @ “sock falling down”

tara pollard pakosta - so adorable!
seriously, your girls are so CUTE!
your older daughter, um you need to lock her up til she’s at least 27!!!!
gorgeous!
love the birthday shot idea.
we try to do this too!
tara

Juli - #6…yup that’s the expression my hubby would’ve been wearing in each photo. Getting photographed pains him!

cassi - You could always edit out the bunny ears in number #9, that one is soo cute

Kirsten - I love #5!!!! – and I think it’s totally salvageable. Just a little photoshopping needed…
thanks so much for sharing. 🙂

Darcie L. - I’ll Photoshop the bunny ears out of #9 if you want. 🙂 Our daughter is 2 and FINALLY learning to smile for a camera. We have 2 years worth of random faces…

Lisa - This made me laugh so hard! I have 4 kids and CANNOT get a picture of everyone even looking at the camera! The older ones always mess around making silly faces. So funny! I’ve actually given up trying to get a good picture and figure I’m documenting what my family is really like! 🙂

Courtney Walsh - love it!! 🙂 I think you should frame the one where you’re getting bunny ears! It’s ridiculously cute! 🙂

elisa - You are so stinkin cute- blonde or brunette!

sandy toe - What a cute family you are. I love polka dots too!
sandy toe

Amy - I love your style! And I love your clothing style too! Links for the WHOLE outfit, please! 🙂

Debby - Funny stuff! Removing the bunny ears with Photoshop would be a great way to learn!!

Jennifer - I love Annie’s smooches!! My little boy has been trying to ‘marriage kiss’ me, and it looks pretty similar to Annie’s!! I have to tell him, I only marriage kiss daddy. It’s heartbreaking to him!! I love your blog!!

Mary - Great post!
Sometimes the outtakes are better than the perfect photo.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - OH! I love the one of all the girls. You have such a beautiful family!

midwestmom - Great pictures!! need a link for the gorgeous sweater please!! you guy are too fun!

Lindsay - I love this! Awesome tradition! I think I will start doing this too. Thanks for the great idea.

Dana@Bungalow'56 - Those family shots are sooo hard to come by. Good effort though!
Dana

april - funny stuff…its like that cloud commercial where the mom cuts and pastes the faces of the kids to have normal smiling faces…it made for a funny blog posting though……have a great day!!

shauna - love the daddy kiss! soooooo precious! Ella does the same thing and her daddy is the MOST common recipient of the the slobber…

Jaime @ Queen of the Creek - How cute! 😀 I think outtakes are the best!!
They show what’s REALLY going on!

Staci - Love em all 🙂

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - this is why i love you!

Kimberlee J. - No. 9 is my fav…keep the bunny ears. 🙂

Cari - Outtakes are hilarious! Frustrating at the time? Oh yes! Fun to look back on later? Definitely! 🙂

Alma - Hilarious! my camera is full of outtakes too. Too funy

se7en - Those kids of yours are just delightful!!! So so so cute!!! And I have no idea when Annie grew up so fast!!!

Sandy - These are great and fun to look at. It’s nice to see the missing teen, I mean Lauren again. She’s naturally beautiful. Love her tights too. 🙂

Laura Phelps - good tradition…even if it takes 478 pictures to get it right!
of course, the best are always the out takes
in pictures and in life

Lindsay - I love that the outtakes tell the story. Cute!

Julie - Oh so cute! Love it! Hope the birthday girl had a Very Happy Day!

Heather R. - So it is not just us…ha! 🙂 Too funny.

Four Flights - So Cute! Happy Birthday Annie!

Annie - These are all hysterical! Gotta love family pictures! (P.S.~ Where did your daughter get her floral tights? I love them!)

pam - FUN! Our oldest is getting into new editing stuff and she just edited out something like the bunny ears on your favorite pic…CRAZY. I couldn’t believe she could do it.

Karen Lehmann - These are so cute. I LOVE the bunny ears. And I didnt even notice any roots, even when i tried to notice them because you mentioned it – 🙂 Guess I should go check my own roots

Linda @bushel and a pickle - This is a very happy group of people who seem to love and enjoy each other. Isn’t great to actually like your kids! Hope the presents opening was a blast. Have a good day!

Holly - How fun is that! Also, Craig rocks the pink shirt and polka dot tie!

Kirsten J - Love the outtakes – WE tried at least a dozen to get my folks with the grandkids. All I had were outtakes. But that’s okay.

Anita Ogle - Love the photos and lurvvve your shoes. Please share where you found them.
Anita

These outakes are so cute!!

how should i take this?

this was the conversation we had this this week.
it was an evening that only sean and lauren were home…and it was already 8:30 PM.

SEAN: Mom….i want you to watch Percy Jackson with me….you'll love it."

ME: well….i have a lot of work to do.  would it be ok if i worked on photos while we watched it?

s: yeah.
you can listen…and look up at the good parts.

m:  perfect!

s: mom…i think you are the hardest working mom there is.

m: really?
i think you must be right. (big smile on my face)
     why do you think that?

s: you take pictures….you sew pillows….you can't even watch a movie you have so much work!

hmmm….should i be offended or flattered?
does he feel neglected or proud?

of course this is after i have spent two hours at a doctor's office with two children…
one hour in the car….
three hours at the pool….
made three meals…
cleaned the bottom of the swimming pool…
done three loads of laundry…
one load of dishes…
driven back and forth four times to sports practices…

i am going to choose to take it as a compliment.

🙂

IMG_9375
this was on sean's tenth birthday.
my friend Nicole takes a picture with her kids every year on their birthday.
it seems like such a great tradition that i wanted to start doing it too!

i am going to use the weekend to answer some of those questions you asked.
wish me luck.

Suzanne - that darn mom guilt twists everything!!!
compliment, definitely. love the pic of the 3 of you he is so handsome.

Stephanie@Geezees - it sounds like a compliment to me, but my kids say stuff like that to me too, i would like to think it’s because we are just hard working mom’s who want the best for are children.

anna - okay. i am not a mom, but i have been in youth ministry for almost 20 years… and i am not so sure it was a compliment. i think he was trying to say that he needs some one on one time with you-having 100% of your attention. try to think about it if the tables were turned and you wanted to do something with him (arts & crafts, whatever…) and he said okay, but can i just play this video game while we do it? i know that parents get totally worn out with all the running and taking to practices and preparing and fixing, but teens and pre-teens don’t see that as time you are spending on them… they see that as your job. what is a compliment to you is how he communicated with you – it was loving and not selfish or rude. at the very least, maybe it should prompt you to have a conversation with him about the conversation… or about if he feels like your attention is ALWAYS divided and if he feels that he isn’t getting enough of you. you are awesome and being a mom is pretty much the hardest job there is… wow this is a long comment, but i am passionate about teens and parents…

Beth - I loved the compliment. And the birthday picture!

the inadvertent farmer - Half empty? Half full? All a matter of perspective so I say definitely a complement! Kim

jenjen - What a sweet compliment! I love that he wanted to watch the movie with you and have that special time together. I love that idea of taking a picture with each child on their birthdays. I might have to copy that 🙂
XOXO
Jen

Kristin Blumberg - You are an amazing role model for your kids! Sean is remarkable that he thinks of all you do, he appreciates you!

Melanie - Kids! They are too funny. They remember things so differently than we do.

Joanna @ The Casa - it’s a compliment
and a very sweet one at that

Lisa - As someone who loves to read your blog, you are always present for and with your children. You are a great example of a “hands on Mom” I love all of your family stories and vacations, you are the Mom I wish I had. Have the best day and keep writing this great blog!

roseykrh - I believe he meant it as a positive thing. He sounds like he is really proud of you.

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Sounds like he said it in a sincere sweet manner…he meant it well. I think he was proud of you. We do work hard. There’s a lot to be done. Love your new pic tradition. What a cutie you have.

Juli - Definately thinking that’s a compliment but you should ask him & try to get some more thoughts eked out of that boy! Boys…they never seem to have deep conversations but blurt out snippets of what is occurring on in those deep, vast thoughts of theirs. Your Sean & my Jack Graayson seem the same way (by what you’ve wrote in past post, they’re very similar)
I think it is awesome that your kids recognize your hard work. Kids need to see hard work or they don’t realize what it takes in this world. My husband is going back to school for his 2nd masters and that is among the reasons. He wants to set an example for the children so they see the importance of education and dedication + sacrifices involved.
I don’t think your kids can complain for lack of involvement, at all!

Nancy M - I am going to assume that Heather didn’t mean to sound so harsh. We generally do not get trolls here, do we? Or maybe the mean posts are deleted, haha. Everyone here is always so nice. ♥ Love to read about your busy life, Meg.

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - Compliment 🙂 You look great, by the way. Keep up the good work!!

candace - What a sweet conversation!
Love the commenter who quoted Proverbs 31 – I second that!

Linda Sousa - Definitely a compliment. Great idea with the birthday pictures!

Jenny - I think you took it the right way. He must love you very much!

Nicole Q. - COMPLIMENT!!
So glad you got a great birthday pic of the three of you!

Leonie - definately a compliment, but I do think our kids can say anything and we mums will always battle with what I call ‘mummy guilt’…… we are just never sure we are doing a god job or not, but I think with boys they are brutally honest….. girls on the other hand……can be cruel to their mums (well I know I was as a teenager) you make me get up and get going, your a great mum!
Leonie

Selina - Gorgeous idea with the photos! Take it as a compliment for sure.

Jennifer - Definitely a compliment and what a great tradition to start for birthdays! I think I will follow suit and do this with my little fella. 🙂

Kathryn Goertzen - LOVE the idea of taking a picture with your children on each of their birthdays! Mine are now 21 and 25 – do you think it is too late to start this tradition?!

Sandy - I think it’s definately a compliment, but (from experience) I think he would also love it if you sat down and did nothing else but watch with him. Trust me, I know it’s hard!…I’ve played video games (I stick to car racing…it’s all I can handle) with my son and it’s hard to put all those other things you “should” be doing out of your mind.
I love the picture on the birthday idea. Why couldn’t you have put that in my head 20 years ago?! 🙂

Jessie - Kids are innocently honest, if he thought you neglected him he’d say so. He thinks you are a hard worker. Heather up there should put a cork in it!

Emily - “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness” Good Job, noble woman (;

Barbie - You are an amazing mom so you have probably already done this but ask him. This is a perfect opportunity to hear what he has to say and to really see how your family views the things you are doing. After all, you are doing it all for them. I have taught my kids so much but honestly I have learned so much from them.

Deputy's Wife - I would take it as a compliment! My children get irritated when I can’t just sit. When I watch a movie with them, I need to have the laptop, some sewing, or something to read. This is anytime I watch tv. It would be nice to just sit, but I feel so uncomfortable doing it!

Laura - I’d say a major compliment!!! I hope my two recognize I’m a hard worker when they are Sean’s age.
p.s. I said a little prayer for Heather… 🙂

Jeannette - Awe I would definitely take that as a compliment. I agree, he said you are hard working not that you work too much. Your kids are so smart and I love when you share those little moments with us. What a great idea about the birthday pics, I may just have to “steal” that idea!!! Can’t wait for the Q&A 🙂
Have a great weekend!!!

Kacey - Oh, absolutely a compliment! It’s obvious how much time you spend with your kids. I think you’re awesome! What a sweet kid. 🙂

Lisa - Totally unrelated to your post, but would you mind sharing where you shop?? I LOVE your outfits! 🙂

Lane - I would take it as a compliment! Sweet boy…atleast he knows how much you do for him!! That says a lot!

Martina - Being that he’s male he probably meant exactly what he said with no hidden meaning: he thinks you’re the hardest working mom there is! Sounds like you have a very sweet boy. 🙂

RLG - I think you should feel flattered. He wants you to join him — which is so sweet I can hardly stand it. He’s so proud of you, Meg. I’m actually crying as I write this. PMS or what? LOL Good luck on the questions. xoxo

Mary - Yes, compliment. Total compliment. ;o)
~mary~

Dina - That picture you 2 and him makes me smile. What a sweet, sweet boy:-)

Angela B. - He’s proud of you- and from what I’ve noticed he is very sweet and thoughtful. You are a great mom. We all have busy days or weeks where we wonder if the balance is right- your great kids are an example of a great mom!

Melissa - I’m sure he’s much prouder of you than he would be of a mom who sits on the couch and watches tv all day.
He knows your working for him and the rest of the family.

patti - what an awesome compliment. you done good! 🙂

Rebecca H - when my kids make comments along those lines, i TRY to focus on the positives… like the fact that we DID just spend 3 hours at the pool. so sitting down together to watch / listen to a movie while i work is a pretty sweet deal!

Jaime @ Mamarazzi - he likes you…
he really, really likes you!
=)
I think he admires you for what you do (kudos for him being able to see it)… and loves the time he does get to sit with you. Look how cool he was abt you working while sitting with him to watch the movie; “look up at the good parts”… How cool is Sean?!

angela - Total compliment!

Sugar Mama - Take it as a compliment.
Teen has said the same to me before, and I didn’t take it as a compliment. He later explained that it was clearly meant as one. Obviously I was feeling guilty.
Love the b’day picture idea… such a simple idea. I love simple ideas!

elma - Oh that is for sure a compliment!!! I have eight kids and so enjoy your blog and all the LOVING things you do with your kids:) What’s up with heathers comment:(

Jenny - I would definitely take it as a compliment. Anyone who reads your blog at all sees what a GREAT mom you are and how many fabulous oppurtunities you give your kids. Your kids are lucky to have such a good mom who does so many things for and with them. It was so sweet of Sean to notice. =)

Faith - Ignore the haters, Megan! You are a great, hands on, caring, inclusive Mom who gives her all for her family and realizes that in order to be a good mom, one has to fulfill herself as well! I’ve only been subscribed to your blog for maybe a month, six weeks, but I can tell that your family adores you and you them!!! Good job!!!

mkpoggie - ALL of your children are adorable and hilarious, but your Sean stories are the ones that have me looking forward to the day when I have my own brood the most. He just seems so quirky and kind hearted! Being his mom must be so much fun for you! Yep, I’m definitely a Sean fan.
…And it was most certainly a compliment. A well-deserved one.
p.s. What’s your damage, Heather?

Staci - Sweet Sean 🙂 DEFINITELY a compliment!!!!!

Melody - Definitely a compliment! Like many American kids, I’m sure he’s grown up learning the value of hard work, so I would bet he’s proud of his mama!

anna - what a cute picture! i know that moms and dads can’t have favorites…but i can! sean is definitely my favorite of your kids! (just don’t tell the others.) 🙂
i think that’s a great idea to take pictures with your kids on all their birthdays!

Denise - Heather’s comment is just not appropriate!! Your life pretty much describes mine too – I love every minute of it. My kids love their life too. We are good moms – even if we are slightly busy : )

angela - I think he meant it as a compliment. He should have! Good grief…you are a hands on mom!!! (Oh, and I don’t like Heather’s comment above.:() What a cute boy he is!

tara pollard pakosta - for sure take it as a compliment!!!
you do ALOT with and for your kids,
you can sit and edit pix for your job
as a reward LOL!!!!! too fuNNY!
what a great kid!! I think he’s proud of yOU!
love the idea of pix with them on their bday!
I try to do that too!
tara

Marie - How very very sweet. Most kids don’t recognize how busy their moms are and all that they do…he’ll make a good husband one day. 🙂

Dana@Bungalow'56 - Oh and please pass along to Sean that he is a very handsome young man.
Dana

Elissa - I think he sounds like he’s awfully proud of you. he said you were “hard working” not that you work too much 🙂 i also love the idea of a pic with the birthday kiddo! might have to steal that one.
Found you via Ashley Ann. Been lurking for a bit, but this post really made me smile. you have a lovely space here!

Dana@Bungalow'56 - Megan,
The picture looks great, yet another wonderful idea I can take away from your blog. I would definitely take Sean’s comment as a compliment. I find ten is the age that my two eldest really started to notice things. My ten year old has started helping around the house and seems to appreciate the things her dad and I do much more (not all the time mind you, but there is definitely a change there). They’re growing up…sniff.
Dana

Heather - i hope your kid doesnt remember you for being so busy you couldnt spend any time with him

talby: "did everybody wear knee high socks?"

sean: "and those hair things….scruncies?!"

what in the world?

Funny Love Quotes - Very cute kid pictures. Nice work.

eds - I’m convinced you have the funniest kids on the face of the earth! I hope I get to have kids someday (wait — is that the voice of Jesus I hear, telling me that I will?! 🙂 and that they are half as funny! What a hoot!

Collette - I wanted to let you know that although my only child, a daughter, is now out of the house and a sophmore in college, I often find that “mom blogs” aren’t really something I can relate to much anymore, but I keep coming back here, (everyday;) ) because of your wit and the kids and the photos and the just general happy atmosphere, even when things seem out of your control you maintain, and in this day and age, even maintaining is a struggle. I appreciate you so much! Thanks, Col

crystal b - Loved this. You’ll look back on these conversations some day and miss them so much!

Heather - All hysterical, but the scrunchie comment put me over the edge! seriously, where do kids even hear about things like scrunchies? 🙂

Tonya - ET was my first movie theater movie too! Every time we are by that movie theater, I tell my kids about ET. I always point out my childhood house and grade school too. And, I’m a Kansas girl just like you!

Laura Phelps - I can not wait to meet your goofy kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sophie - How funny! I can’t believe you managed to remember all those conversations!!!

Kat - This will be great to look back on. Too funny.

I voted for your picture…Hope you win!
Angie

Sugar Mama - I have read your blog for a while, and never commented (so sorry!) but your picture of Daylight Donuts just made me love your blog even more! I grew up in OK and spent many special morning eating donuts and sausage rolls from there…. and I miss it so much! Now I’m craving them ;o)

Rachel / cREaTe - love it. especially the hunter / underwear conversation. 🙂 hysterical.

Emily B. - Oh my goodness, I spotted a peanut butter donut! When my husband and I were dating we used to drive up to Druber’s just for the PB donuts, and the excuse to stay out later, together.
And the Chickenspray name is He-LAR-ious! I think he’s right, I haven’t seen that one in the phonebook.

Jennifer - Daylight Donuts!! I grew up in Clovis, NM and we had a Daylight Donuts. I thought it was the only one because I had never come across another and miss them terribly. And then it pops up on your blog and here I sit salivating…
I LOVE the kids conversations! What a fun post!

Christine Ishmael - Aren’t those donuts one of the things on your summer list? I hope you don’t mind but I borrowed (ok I copied) your idea for the summer check-off list…my kids loved it! I love how my little kids say things…I get so mad when my older kids correct the younger ones when they say something wrong…they’ll figure it out soon enough! Why do the older kids do that…thanks for sharing your summer days!

www.Kellyloves.wordpress.com - mmmmmm …. ice cream … i want some now!
http://www.kellyloves.wordpress.com

Lisa - Oh, that made my whole afternoon. I’m laughing so hard.

shelly @familyblt - That last one is the best! So are more babies in your future?!

Sara @ It's Good to be Queen - that’s hilarious. and i’m pretty for sure God wants you to have more babies.

Katy Stone - I woke up this morning, logged in to read my blogs and this, by far, made my morning! best thing i’ve read all day. can you please do this more often? (and the best thing is- you don’t have to PLAN anything, just remember!) 🙂

sara's art house - Hilarious!

Deedra P. - I had to laugh…most of these “conversations” sound like what is talked about at our house. From Harry Potter, to underwear (we call them “jockeys”), to being “poor”, and finally MORE BABIES LOL! Have a great day:))

Linnea - These are some of my favorite posts – just random quotes from the kids! Love it and it made me luagh out loud today! You are so blessed to have so many wonderful kids!

Julie - Makes me want babies right this second.

Kimberlee J. - Hysterical. Sean is totally cracking me up today.

Jill J. - OK, I have read the Harry Potter series like 4 times (hangs head in shame) and have never heard of the “crown of knowledge.” But, I’m sure I would like one rather than a pan of baked potatoes.
Love,
Mrs. Chickenspray 🙂

Carrie K - oh gees…i am CRYING these made me laugh so hard!!
you have the coolest crazy kids ever 🙂
oh and dont worry…i was poor and wore scruncies too! haahaahaahaahaaa

Heather Richter - According to google…no Mr. or Mrs. Chickenspray. Our girls have fakey In-American dolls, too. You always make me laugh.
~Heather R.

Michelle - This post cracked me up Meg!

Heather - so funny!! love the crown of knowledge or pan of baked potatoes question. awesome!

Jennifer De Los Santos - I love the way Annie pronounces words. Kate is starting to really talk and it cracks us up the way she says things. “Night Night, sweep tight, not wet de bedbums bite” is one of our favorites. She also likes to go “simmin” in the pool.

katy - Hilarious! Thanks for the laugh this morning after I got 3 hours of preggo sleep with my sick two year old. 🙂

Erica - Oh my goodness… That sounds so great! haha =)

kelli - love it! {maybe even more than i love that drubers pb knot up there!}

Andria - Our oldest still calls boxers “boxsters”, he’s going into 6th. I guess we better tell him, we just think its so darn cute we’ve never corrected him. Our 6 year old says it too. I love the things kids say.

patti - too cute!
i have been trying to write down stuff as my kids say funny things. my mom has all these great things from when me and my brothers were little. like, i guess i used to ask my mom if there was electricity and television when she was a little girl (i am guessing i thought she grew up in “little house on the prairie times”.) – she loved me for that one! hahaha!

Kelsey - hahahaha!!! so cute = )

mandy friend - thanks for giving me a laugh so early in the morning…off to hide any scrunchie picturea before my kids can see…

Tracy - These quotes are the best! So funny, I’m truly laughing out loud! How wonderful to preserve all of this : ) My daughter loves reading your posts with me too….she loves Annie ❤

Kate @ Songs Kate Sang - LOL ~ Oh, i needed to laugh! ET was my first movie, too 🙂 I want to be DB when I grown up!

Tracy - LOL too funny! The first movie I recall seeing at young ages were Jaws (at the drive-in movie) – I think I was SIX and it scared the beejeebees out of me and then I saw the black hole in the theatre. Kids are so funny but yours always crack me up because they are just too cute! :o)

Molly Pearce - I loved this!!! I don’t have any kids but I am going to do my own craft day of the week for myself. Your crafts look so fun! Can I come and craft with y’all? Have a happy Tuesday!!
~Molly P

I love this post!
well, I love all your posts!
it’s like the highlight of my day, seriously! LOL!
sad, but true>
tara

Lisa - Should we try this? Should we try and not fight and get along? Priceless…I wish my boys would try it! 🙂

Lisa K - Hahahahahahaha thank you so much for this great post. I loved it. And I am so happy for you and your kids that you recorded all of that in print so it will never be forgotten 🙂 Precious and priceless. Love it!!

Krissa - these are hilarious…bahahahaha…thats awesome…i wanna read more!!!!!

vanessa - These are my favorite type of posts. I could listen to funny things kids say all day long! The Hunters was the best one.

purejoy - ummm i disagree. i think your name must be awesome. or one of your kids or something. they are so adorable and i love to hear how their minds process. thanks for sharing a window into your world!

Lynda - WHO TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SCRUNCIES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?;)
I like those “tiny”people!!!!
Lynda

Kate - How funny…my V calls ravioli “graveeoli” too…

Kari - My favorite was when Annie was confused about “Hunters” :)! Yay for school being out and you being able to engage in even more conversations with your kids…priceless!

Wendy - I love this post Meg. 🙂 Made me smile. My youngest used to call a bathing suit-“baby soup” and goggles-“gobbles” so it was great when she’d want to go for a swim. “Mom, I need my baby soup and gobbles!”. So sweet!

Lisa - You’re kids are so sweet. I love the stuff they come up with. I came across this blog and thought you would like this post…
http://bedifferentactnormal.blogspot.com/2010/06/rainbow-pudding-pops.html
Take Care,
Lisa

Shannon - I bet there are other bloggies who would want you to take pictures here in Atlanta if you make the trip …hint hint 🙂

Shannon - Well, why don’t you all come to Atlanta so you can see your neice and nephew — AND take Hunter’s Senior pictures!! 🙂 He goes in tomorrow for the tux/yearbook picture! I can’t believe he will be a Senior!

Dana D@BoysMyJoys - This in-specially made my day, Mrs. Awesome!
🙂

yesterday

as we left swimming lessons i saw this car parked in front of my big truck.

IMG_5828

i said "oh….that is pretty….ohhhhh…..i like that car"
sean looked at it and said "but mom, there are only two seats!"
and talby said "exactly.  one for her and one for dad."
i smiled.
annie didn't miss a beat "WELL…i'm gonna need 2 CAMPER CARS when i have my 12 kids!"

we went to the zoo for a short visit.
it was hot.
very hot.
IMG_5835
the zoo had the misters everywhere to cool the kids off.
sean's hair was so funny.

all the animals were loving the kids.

IMG_5848
IMG_5849

we gave him some ice.
he liked it.

IMG_5870
we were alone by the lions.
all three were asleep.
sean gave this very realistic roar a few times….woke up the daddy.
that got them very excited.
he got up and walked right up to the glass and started pawing at the glass and showing his teeth.
if there was no glass….he would have killed us.
he was not playing with us.
the zoo keeper came over and stood there till we left…..kind of to get us to leave.

IMG_5885
the tigers were asleep too.
until we sat down next to them.
then they were wide eyed.
the were convinced that talby & annie's yellow shirts were the cause of the animals liking them today.

IMG_5901
IMG_5877
snow cone break.
IMG_5928
we saw these in the gift shop and we were inspired for craft thursday.
which will be craft friday again this week.

then to the car.
hot drive home.
quiet drive home.

IMG_5831
oh how i love the dvd player and wireless headphones.

we came home and every child went somewhere seperate….by choice.
they each played quietly….for hours.
it was like there were no children here!
crazy.
i took a book to my lawn chair in my swimsuit and vegged for an hour.

i needed that.
it rocked.

Vannessa Gabbett - Wow! The car is definitely pretty, but I guess, your kids didn’t appreciate the beauty of the car, but instead, they noticed how many seats the car has. It only shows that they do want to come along with you every time you have a date with your husband. Heheh. I’m just kidding. Your kids did have a great time in the zoo. I can see it all over their faces. 🙂

Tyra Shortino - You have such lovely kids. It’s kind of funny how they noticed that the car has only two seats, one for you and for your husband. Heheh. You need to buy two of those so that your 3 kids can ride with you. 🙂 But the car is definitely pretty. Though I wonder how it would accelerate in an open highway.

ana from australia - just saw these, the animal pics are FANTASTIC…. thank god for thick glass hey?

Musings Of A Gem - That Lion looked crazy!!!
Gemma X

Trina McNeilly - sounds like a fun day and the perfect ending.. some quiet alone time! I can’t believe the how close you are to the hippo & how the cats were so animated – wow …..sooooo coool!

Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I’m thinking a trip to the zoo is in order. Those were great pics. That lion looked a little pissed;)

Jenn - Isn’t it crazy that kids don’t get freaked out by lions getting mad at them?! I took my daughter to the Denver Aquarium last summer and they have tigers there. She wasn’t even two and was just standing there at the glass and a tiger totally charged at her. Everyone else took an involuntary step back and she just stood there all happy just to see the tiger! Can’t wait until we can {finally} get some nice weather to go to the zoo. Glad you had such a fun day!

Lauren - Such a fun zoo day! Glad to see that you guys are fellow QT supporters…love their great fountain drink deals!! It’s the little things in life, right? 🙂

jen - Separate by choice and quiet for hours? Was there Benadryl in that QT cup?

heidi @ wonder woman wannabe - looks like an amazingly awesome day for all – EVEN you!! Love that. Can I order up one of the same for me???

Jessica - That lion looks too scary… even behind that wall… No thanks.. i think i would have ran! 🙂 The hippo is my fav!

Melanie - Sounds like you had a great day and I just love what Talby said about you and Craig:)

tara pollard pakosta - what a nice day!!!
we need a Zoo day!
my girls will often do that after
a full day out, just find somewhere, alone
in their room or wherever and just read a book,
draw, go on their laptops etc. they need alone time!!
great pix as always!

Sixty Fifth Aveune - Amazing pictures, as usual! We visit the zoo all the time and we would be lucky to get one cool animal shot. What a great day!

Lori - Awww. Summertime is great, isn’t it? I love the tiger picture and the snow cone.

shelly - That lion picture looks fake, which is good, because knowing it is real-is a little freaky to me. What a fun day though!

heike - how funny! may i show you which picture i posted just today?
i had to laugh a lot when i realized this coincidence… ;o)
it’s all about hippos…
http://koelnformat.blogspot.com/2010/06/ein-tag-im-zoo-macht-froh.html

www.Kellyloves.wordpress.com - lions, tigers and hippos — what a fun day!!!
http://www.kellyloves.wordpress.com

jennifer - We went to the zoo yesterday too! SO hot!
And the lawn chair in the backyard with a book by myself… my favorite!

Staci - We’ve had VBS all week….I’m looking forward to veggin’ ALOT next week myself 🙂

Kelly - great day! Kelly

jack - Oh! Wireless headphones! I didn’t know they even existed. I’m off to investigate…..

Sara @ It's Good to be Queen - those are some serious teeth on that tiger. looking forward to taking our kids to the zoo…it’s a big trip for us, an hour and a half each way. wish we could just pop over for the morning like that. glad you got a quiet afternoon. 🙂

Stacia - Oh my gosh I love QT pops in the summer! I live in Colorado and we don’t have QT 🙁

Debbie S. - My husband and I always talk about when all four kids are grown, we are going to reward outselves for surviving parenthood with a two-seater car and a white couch!!

Jocelyn Stott - What a great day and oh my goodness, that lion!!!! Super cool but also slightly creepy. It is humbling how magnificent those animals are.

Dana@Bungalow'56 - What a wonderful day. I LOVE misters. We don’t get heat for very long, but when it comes it is HOT. At our local street performer festival they attach the misters to the hydrants. I wish I had one in our backyard. (It would go nicely with the pool : ) Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your quiet time, its hard work keeping us up to date. But I for one really appreciate it.
Dana

Gekakel - Beautiful pictures of your family to the zoo!

beth - Gosh it has been ages since I went to the Atlanta Zoo…what fun you all had…loved all the pics and can’t wait to see your craft Friday from the inspiration pic.
Ahh the sound of silence when kids are with you…nothing but a great gift from them…peace and love among them all.
Oh yeah I see that car and I will raise you on it…oops sorry have nothing to raise on it..lol
Loving your blog as always Meg! Have a great weekend and can’t wait to be back on Monday…I so look forward to your piece of life each day!

Kacey - I want to go to the zoo! Sadly, I think we would melt right now. No zoo in the triple-digits for this girl!
You always have so much fun with everything! Love your outlook on life.
Kacey
P.S. A whole HOUR by yourself with a book with kids at home? Fantastic!

Kimberlee J. - We’re hitting the zoo tomorrow for Ella’s birthday. Did I hear it right? 100 degrees!!!! I hope they have the misters on for us, too! Love ya!

Heather - what i wouldn’t give for an hour with a book. ahhhh. sounds heavenly.

Julie - Oh, and when we do go to the zoo, we will wear yellow to test your kids’ theory 🙂

Julie - Those zoo pictures are unreal! It always seems like the animals are hiding or sleeping when we are there. The zoo is on our summer to-do list… now I’m pumped. I want the zookeeper to come stare us down because the lions are aggitated and threatening us. Haha! Not really–that would put me way out of my comfort zone.
We were able to squeeze in Craft Thursday yesterday… letter mosaics. I found the idea through a link on your blog. The kids each made one for themselves and I made one for baby on the way and then the boys decorated D-A-D with items from the toolbox… for dad for Father’s Day. So much fun and way less messy than I thought it would be. Yay for that!

Georgia - WOW how big are them Tigers teeth!!!!! I went to our local zoo a week ago and was really close to a tiger and i couldnt believe how BIG their paws were…. !!! huge.
The Lion pic’s funny. Looks like hes making goofy faces on the glass…
🙂

Sophie - Looks like such a fun day!
Darn, I want to go to the zoo now! 😀

found art.

i asked annie what these drawing were about….
IMG_9169

"this is mommy getting the babies cut out of her tummy"

IMG_9170
"she was so surprised that she had 3 babies in her tummy"

IMG_9171
"she is holding her 3 babies and she is crying because she just loves them so much!"

but then there was this one….
i wasn't quite sure how to feel about THIS drawing.

IMG_9172
"that mom is telling him GO TO YOUR ROOM and he is crying IT WASNT MY FAULT"

hmmmm.

kat - These are so hilarious!!!

Alaina - That is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! I about peed my pants laughing! Love the huge pointy finger!!!!

Liana - OMG. She is a better artist than me. Seriously. Love the hand on hip and pointing finger…and the angry eyebrows. Awesome! She is creative like her momma. Thanks for sharing.

Laura Phelps - FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t feel badly about the last one…when Jack was seven he had to draw a family portrait.
He drew the ENTIRE family, hanging by THREADS, from a TREE.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……………………….

julia - the last one is my favorite…Jokingly, I asked my son {who’s bigger than me} a few months ago if he was scared of me. He said, “yeah, a little”

Courtney - Oh my GOSH 🙂

susie whyte - the crying and the yelling mom’s are awesome. you have to frame these. 🙂

Micah - No.Way. These are incredibly awesome. Don’t ever take these to a psychologist ;). Too funny.

candace - Annie’s drawing skills are quite advanced for a preschooler! She will likely be an advanced reader too!
The story is great. Are you making them into a book for her? 🙂

Courtney Walsh - that made me laugh out loud.
how funny!!! I love the big pointer finger on the last picture. hahahhaa

Beth Ann - I am cracking up!!!!

amy jupin - i love the pic of the happy crying momma. happy and crying. definitely you.
but the angry momma…oh my. she looks like she needs a latte and one of pw’s cinnamon rolls!

sandy toe - Very cute…I think we would have the same pictures here.
sandy toe

Melanie - Very cute. Makes ya think doesn’t it?

Rebekah - Oh boy! So very funny. 🙂

Cindy - No need to worry. She lives in a house with big brothers and sisters. Awesome art! The one of the mom crying with joy for her babies is so touching.

Krista - Love the angry face and pointed finger on the Mom!

Bernice - Haha those are so cute.. she is so talented!

Gemma - Heeheeheee…so cute!
Gemma X

Charlotta - Amazing detail and expression in these drawings!
Impressive!
I too have a very artistically talented child and love what comes out. Sometimes it is confrontational, and there is always a lot to learn.
Kids are so insightful aren’t they!
x Charlotta

Jeanne - Can’t stop laughing!!!

april - this is funny..my girlfriend just had triplets….lols

Julie - I agree others comments that Annie has real talent as an artist. She has captured expressions and body language in a unique way. None of my five children could have drawn that at five. That’s raw talent!

Jennifer - Your daughter is quite the artist! She is expressing herself-at least she has an outlet for that. All parents lose their temper at some point, you aren’t mean or bad for this. A parent has to discipline-at least the drawing isn’t of you beating her! 🙂

Joni Lane - her perspective of the hand on the hip is HILARIOUS. love it.
thanks for sharing.

siew - OMG. Those are absolutely fabulous. I love the angry eyebrows on the last one. You don’t even need a translation with that one!

Rachel @ Pencil Shavings - This is absolutely hilarious.
I was a serious artist during the sermons at church. I liked to draw pictures for the pastor and run to give them to him afterwards. Apparently around the age of 8 or so, we had my cat neutered and I guess this was a rather momentous event to my 8 year old brain because I drew a whole picture about the cat getting fixed with a description about why the cat had to be fixed (“Because it removes his hormones and he won’t be so wild with the other cats around the neighborhood”). When my pastor did our premarital counseling, he almost laughed til he cried. He had kept a lot of those drawings of mine, and then their house burned down and he lost them.
But he still remembered!

maribeth - i love listening to children tell about their art. it is so fascinating, so straight forward, so real. annie’s drawings are great, so detailed.

Julie - Annie is a great artist! Those faces are so expressive!

Nancy M - I love the mom’s hair, and the finger pointing toward the bedroom. Has Annie had lessons? I do not draw that well, and I’m 45.

Elizabeth - Those are adorable. And I’m so scared to imagine what my boys would draw me doing as I constantly holler at them to pick up, etc.

Jen - Love the illustrations… and translations…. Keep them for when she is a mom!

Amanda - Wow! She is an amazing artist.

AshleyAnn - That is simply awesome…all of them. Triplets…go for it…what is 3 more after 5?

patti - seriously, annie has some talent. my 5 year old doesn’t draw this well…at all. she’s good at flowers and bugs, but people…forget it.

Lisa - Were you concerned about the 3 babies in mummys tummy? Is she prophetic???? Haha funny muchly.

Routhie - Just another sign you are doing your job right. What a sweetie.

Staci - Seriously, those pics are super cute 😉 SUPER CUTE!!!!!!!

Tara - we’ve had similar drawings at our house…not sure whether to laugh or cry when they show up. 🙂

Amy J. - That’s awesome! Thanks for the laugh… although, I shouldn’t be laughing. I also learn so much about my daughter’s perspective on life from my her drawings!

Janie Fox - Really cute. Makes me wish I’d kept more of my kids art work.

Melissa - hahahaha!! Really… too cute!

Lisa - I particularly love the hand on the hip in the last one! Great job, Annie!

Danielle Townsend - That is SOOO funny!
Annie is a really great artist! (seriously)

Pati - Those are so adorable..! I also have to say that annie is a very good artist for her age!
Love your Blog

Christa - Ahaha, hilarious! I look forward to the day when my daughter presents me with a similar drawing since I know that I will definitely be the disciplinarian in the house.

Bec - ahahahaha! Too funny. I needed a good laugh after having a no good day yesterday.

olivia - so cute

miley d - that annie…that is hilarious!

feel good moment.

piano recital last night was adorable!

annie was all ready and set to do it but when her teacher called her name
she fell to the floor flat on her stomach in fear. (this is normal annie shy-ness)

i scooped her up and we whispered together and decided instead of first (which she'd chosen)

that she'd go last.

so it came to be her turn and she smiled but then buried her head in my lap.

i took her to the piano and she went limp…trying to slide off the bench.

she started to cry but didn't try to leave.
then she began to sob and shake but was trying to be quiet about it.
i was blocking her view of the parents there (there were only about 10)

i whispered "you can do it honey."

she looked up at me with huge scared eyes full of tears and shakily said "can you just play it?"

i whispered "i don't know your song sweet heart."

she sloooowly put her shaky hands on the piano and played her 13 note version on old mcdonald.

as soon as she hit the last note i shouted "WOO HOO!" and put my arms in the air.

the room exploded in applause.

it was so great.

the other three kids did fabulous also.
talby was visibly nervous but never said so…..which is new.
she told me later that night,
"i was REALLY nervous but i decided i am going to be mature now and not make a big deal."
🙂

miss jill is awesome.
i love how she interacts with my kids and that she comes to my house.
it is no fun dragging five kids all over town for lessons….or sitting and waiting on kids at lessons.
thank you jill!

S - I’m not even a mom and this made me tear up.
I love, love, love your pictures, but this post was perfect without them…simply imagining the moments.

Kelly - this is such a great story! You are such a great mom! Kelly

Jacque in Colorado - What memories. We had five daughters all of whom took piano lessons and were basket cases at some point before or during a recital. Our fourth daughter, who hadn’t started lessons yet, whispered to me at one event, “Mama, my heart is pounding and I’m not even playing!”

Blending Families - You are one great mum. She is very lucky to have you as her strength. I also love how others supported by cheering. Recitals can really be scary to little kids. Congratulations on what you did for you and your daughter.

tess s. - i just had a horrible flashabck of my first play. i knew every line by heart hours after hearing them. it was preschool…
but as soon as i stepped on stage i was terrified. i’ve since grown out it. so proud of annie for going through with it.
way to go talby for being “mature”. you have great kids, meg!

Christina - That is a great story!! I love how everyone cheered. And that she did it! Yay, Annie! And Talby, too. Conquering fears is such a huge deal.

jeanne - I love that you cheered LOUD at the end! You are the best mom!!! Truly.

Kirsten P - Meg, I found your blog through Jody’s blog about the team that went to Africa. Your march 19th blog about the church service with all those precious children was incredible – your words and photos of kids singing and dancing and listening and falling asleep and being thrilled to get an egg and being prayed over. Oh, my! I’ll never forget it.
Your blog today brought similar feelings. I love how you helped Annie through her fears and tears. Your WOO HOO at the end and the audience exploding in applause – loved it, loved it.

Jonelle - love the big woo hoo at the end!

Jill - All of your kids did an excellent job last night, and I was so proud that Annie went through with it! I love teaching your kids! They each have distinct personalities; it challenges me to teach them each in a little different way – which is fun! Thanks for the opportunity; and thanks for the way you handled last night. You are definitely their best cheerleader. 😉

Robyn - OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! that is the sweetest story ever… on so many counts.

Rachel / cREaTe - that made me cry, too. 🙂 soooo sweet. i took piano for 13 years … i’ve been there. you’re such a wonderful, supportive mom. hopefully she’ll remember that forever! and i hope you got the recital [especially annie & you] on video tape … because these quickly become the family favorites. 🙂 ha ha 13 notes. bless her heart. 🙂

Michelle - I’m 39 and can VIVIDLY remember a piano recital I did at an Old Folks Home when I was about 8. I had to play the national anthem. I sat, I cried, I said I couldn’t do it but my Dad was there as support and he came up and told me I could so I did. I can still remember the fear I felt on that day. Isn’t it funny what stays with us??
Thanks for your wonderful blog Meg. I may live in Australia but I still enjoy my morning dose of ‘Whatever!’. Cheerio from the other side of the planet!

kathy eller - Man you handled that well!

kristin - oh, annie played it for me at my house the last time she was here.
i didn’t realize she was taking lessons!
how sweet.

Sandy - That made me cry. I’m so proud of Talby for being mature and proud of Annie for getting through it. Brave girls!!

Sarah - Awesome story! I love reading all of your posts, but Annie…how precious!!! What a doll baby!

Rebecca - This brought tears to me eyes. I admire the way you handled it. I will remember this as we are a mere 2 weeks away from our son’s first piano recital. I don’t know who is more nervous about what…him about playing or me about him being too nervous to play. 🙂

Jenn Thomas - Reading this post just brings back memories of my first recital. I know exactly how Annie feels – I’ve been there – my hearts starts racing just the thought of it. I remember every recital my hands just shaking and shaking. I am so proud of her – good for her. Megan – they way you handle it – what a good role model for us with little children.I will remember how you handled this situation with Annie and put that into action if ever needed with London.

the inadvertent farmer - Oh that made me 8 again and at one of my own piano recitals…poor baby. Good for her to carry on…better than I did when I ran out of the room in tears. Kim

se7en - Oh the sweet baby, that made me cry!!! Well done guys!!! Our music teacher also visits us – so makes music fun for me!!!

Kimberlee J. - Victory is sweet—at the free throw line AND at the piano.

Staci - Awwww 🙂 Way to go Annie…..and Talby!!!! And yay you!!! I love those moments 🙂

Susan - Sounds familiar. When my step daughter Courtnay was little, she had a piano recital when her mom was out of town and it fell to hubby and I. We tried to coax her onto the stage and almost had it made when her maternal grandparents stepped in and told her she didn’t have too. So pat your self on the back for encouraging her to stick it out. I’m proud of you both! By the way, my step daughter is 31 now and the most insecure human being on the face of the earth because she has never been strongly encouraged (forced) to face her fears…Go! Meg!

Tasha - Oh, what a memory….my son has his first recital in a few weeks….I wonder-I wonder 🙂

Courtney - I am a piano teacher and I appreciate this story 🙂 Even to this day though, I would MUCH rather sing than play the piano for a group!

Sarah@Clover Lane - that is the sweetest story ever.
i feel like i could fall to the floor and lay on my stomach when faced with a huge task too.
i loved it.

Sharla - I played piano for many years and understand the nerves that come with it! Loved this story and the way you handled it.

Marie - AWESOME Mommy moment! Thanks so much for sharing! (made me cry, too)

Melanie - Did you take pictures? I played the piano for 9 years and I always got nervous before playing so I know that Annie, being all of 5, was really nervous. Good for her.

angela - Oh I’m so proud of her!!! And like the above commenter said…you did a great job of handling it. I would do that NOW, but when mine were small, I was too worried about what other people think.

Alysa - very, very touching. made me cry and i just put my mascara on. rats. =)
