i am sure i will be bored by next week but for now…..OVER AND OVER….can't get enough.

and i made a video.
three things today.
that's it.

(niiiiice freeze frame…..)

you can buy SUMMER magazine at their website….it's not sold in stores.

Valerie Page - I love that you love lipsticks as much as i do. I used to be a pen hoarder and i would carry around like 50 pens in my purse in high school. Now as an adult, i am a lipstick hoarder. 🙂 LOL
anyhow, i love reading your blog. i try to look everyday to see if you have written a new post. Me and my three girls LOVE to do crafts!!! Our house is loud and busy all the time. but most days i love it…most days that is:)
anyhoo, since you love lipsticks so much, i just wanted to let you know that I sell avon and we have a great special going on …2 for 5.99 lipsticks and nail polishes. avon is not just cosmetics anymore though:)
don’t know if you have an avon lady, but i am always trying to make new friends 🙂 so if you like lipsticks, check out my avon rep. website. You can order long distance and any orders over 30.00 is free shipping and handling…BONUS:)
http://www.yourAVON.com/valeriep5942

Melissa - Loving that you have three songs from Mumford and Sons as I am going to see them in concert next month. I sheepishly admit I have not heard their music yet though – best downlod of Itunes pronto!

Beth - I think Vloging is definitely for you! You’re a natural!

jamie - love the video…so stinkin cute
the lipstick is so pretty
and yay for being in summer magazine. i’ve never heard of it so i’m going to go check it out.

Tammy Johnson - Love the video, feels like we’re chattin’ and having a cup of coffee!

BriBedell - The pictures of Craig…so cute! I should get my hubbies out! I love your videos you should do them once a week 🙂

Charlotte - you are silly & fun…you made good random videos! 🙂
hahaha happy weekend!

Sugar Mama - Seriously, I can not wait to meet you and hear you speak in September at Blog Sugar. And I am now completely convinced that I need to download Adele’s album from iTunes. I keep putting it off (out of laziness).

Kim - Great video and made even better by the pop-ups. You are adorable.

Gale - LOVE the songs you listed… would love a copy of the magazine, too, but at $22, it’s out of my price range as long as gas is this ridiculous – but appreciated the vicarious look at it in your video 🙂 You rock!

Amy Lynne - I hope you have a great day too! Happy Friday!

Karma - LOVE the lipstick – just bought those exact yummy colors about a week ago! Waiting for my Summer mag to arrive in my mailbox … and I’m going to check out your playlist while I have my second or third cup of coffee … always love new music, it’s inspiring …get’s me through the day, keeps me calm like you … you’re awesome! 🙂

Meagan - Congrats on the mag! Your too cute! I have four kids and Im so haggard..lol! I really like that lipstick. Would you mind sharing your eyeshadow…that color is to die for…
Your colorful blog brightens my day. Blessings!

karen - My magazine came today. Love it. Love hearing your voice. Is it weird to talk back to the screen like we are really having coffee together? 🙂

Andrea T - love it! you posts always have such perfect timing. i was just telling my hisband i dont feel so pretty lately, time to go lipstick shopping 😉 and i love the chalkboard wall, painted one in our kitchen and it just makes me smile!

Simply Lanny - Hi Megan … love to hear your voice ! I’ve been thinking about doing a video post myself 🙂 congrats on the new summer magazine I love it, didn’t know you would be in it so nice ! hope all is well 🙂

danielle burkleo - i wanted to eat that lipstick with the almond name! and i think we need to start a vlog series. something funny. something fun. mmmkay?

Teresa - You can change the settings on your webcam so that it doesn’t do the mirror thing

Annika - How funny to hear your voice! You talk in a much calmer way than I imagined you would. But you sound very nice! Not surprising really, seeing as your writing is also very nice. :o)

Michelle from Australia - Love the video! Still getting used to your ‘accent’ 🙂 As soon as I pressed play on the video, I saw your lipstick. Now I’m an Accountant and usually TOTALLY blind to all things cosmetic. So that means one of three things…..(1) You should be a lipstick model?? (2) Great lipstick?? (3) Both of the previous options???

Esther - Meg, you are so adorable. Loving the videos alot!!! and want to know about them lipsticks–what brand are they?? I am interested in the sparkly one…lol.

Beverly - Hee hee hee. Congratulations on the magazine! It must feel supremely satisfying to have lovely photos of your home…in print on somebody else’s pages. Not that that makes your own *actual* home any less wonderful. Your craft Thursdays idea inspires me. I’ll have to check out your site for more specifics.

Bailey - You’re so cute! Hope you had a great day as well!

sarah harper - great post… i caught myself saying aloud, “awww, i just love her!” after watching your video. 🙂 thanks for sharing your 3 favorites today!

sheri - Ok, that video was too cute. You talk just like you write. awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Jen - Adele rocks it!!!

Alicia - Meg- I love your videos!
And I think they’re fascinating (not boring like you seem to suggest in your little text commentaries on the video haha!)
Keep doing them! I wish I had a webcam on my laptop so I could make cute little vids like yours!
Also- the way you (and all Americans, I guess!) pronounce “Craig” cracks me up. It sounds like “Greg” to me… “Creg” perhaps?
We (I’m Australian) pronounce the “ai” a lot more so it sounds like “Cray g”
I wish I had a web cam so I could take a video and show you how we say it 🙂

Katy - You know what makes me sad? The fact that I love your videos and I can’t hear this one right now. 🙁 We are in the midst of moving.. Our computer is here and the speakers are at the new house. 🙁 BOO!

Whitney - mumford & sons…you have to know and love the avett brothers too!!!! their lyrics are ace!!

Anne @ Baking Me - What a pretty lipstick and I love your playlist I want to put it on my ipod too and attempt some gardening.

tiffany - Waht about Adele #6? and #12! maybe next week? This week they rock for me. Holla. Does it take long to edit vid? Just curious. Lata. Peace. Deuces.

Jacci - Are you really that calm? 😉 You’ve said before that you’re entire family is super loud, but in all your videos you seem completely Mrs. Chill. I loved this, though. Not dorky. Very fun 🙂
How about letting one of the kids take a video during some crazy right-before-dinner-time. I think I’d like that 🙂
~Jacci in Ohio (who’s expecting our 5th in September and just found out IT’S A GIRL!!!!)

Joy - I swear you are so stinkin cute. Hi back to you.

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - You did it again! Such fun to watch you. Congrats on the magazine article. Love the lipstick!

Heather R. - I was reading your comments to this post. Some things that made me giggle: the bloggy Oprah(pretty true) and I tell my hubby about you, too. All good! I love the video of you and fab new lipstick. I think I can remember the color of the liner: wine 🙂
The pic of your Greg looks Talby-ish. Hope you had a great day.

Gretchen - I love randomness. Makes me feel normal. 😉
Thank you for posting your playlist. I’m all about some new music on my own playlist! I had never heard of Adele (I know, you’re probably thinking “WHERE has this girl been?!”) So I just added 4 of her songs. Woot woot!

heidi @ wonder woman wannabe - well, yay! congrats on the summer mag. that’s way cool!
a new lipstick makes me feel like a new woman, spring/summer is a fun time to get new shades for lips and nails!!

julia

Kerry - Meg…. My friend just sent me this link and after reading your playlist I thought of you 🙂 Take a look – too precious

tiffany m gardner - YOU INSPIRE ME! thank you thank you thank you. i joke with my husband that your blog is my morning cup of coffee…since i’m not really a coffee drinker. its funny how i’ve never met you but i talk with my husband and kids about you like we are bffs! 🙂 so bff…thanks for sharing about your lipstick, magazine (which is on my list to get today) and your pics. i look forward everyday to your blog.

Courtney Walsh - ooohhhh I love your new lipstick! I am seriously a lipstick fanatic! I feel like my face sort of fades away without it! lol
Love the videos. Super fun.

Suzette - You are just adorable! I never comment because I feel like it gets lost in all your bazillion comments, but I just felt pulled to do so today. April M - hi back at you! that was fun!
made me ponder, what would be my fav 3 things for the day…hmmm
1 zig-zag part on my daughters hair (it wasnt perfect but fun to try something new)
2 Third Day on pandora
3 and listening to my guys laugh while watching myth busters

Leah - I got my copy of Summer the other day and I just keep staring at it! It’s beautiful. And I love your spread. So colorful and happy. Speaking of happy, I’ll have you know that I read your blog every morning at work (don’t tell my boss) and it brings a smile to my face and gets me going when I need to first thing in the AM. So thanks!

carolyn - you are so cute. i love videos on blogs — so much more personal.
and i totally dig your playlist and second PP mandy’s suggestion for the avett brothers. and i’ll add my own recommendation for the head and the heart.

Kristy - VA VA VOOM! The video loves you Mrs. Duerksen! I noticed your lipstick right away….purty. I received my magazine 2 days ago and I love it! I shouted to my husband, “my Kansas blogger is in here!!” I have no business saying “my” but it was just quicker than saying “you know…my favorite blogger with FIVE adorable kids, hunky husband, lovely restored Victorian and Waffle who I stalk every day?” lol! My daughter noticed the artwork and pointed out the ones we have done (they love your crafts!) For playlist try Amos Lee – Windows Are Rolled Down and Be Here Now by Ray LaMontagne is a beautiful song. I’ve been listening to Carole King lately and Coldplay’s Parachutes which in my opinion is one of the best albums ever! And last, did you have your chalkboard in the mag custom made or is it one of your scores? Have a splendid day!

Alicia @ La Famille - you’re too cute, ms. meg 🙂 love your new lip color…i just got a new Burt’s Bee Tinted Lip Balm and i’m in love! oh, and your playlist matches mine…we’ve got good taste 🙂

Lisa - Love these videos!! 🙂 Is it totally lame to say I feel like we could be friends? 🙂

Jennifer - Love the video!!! You’re a hoot! 😉

Kimberlee Jost - This got me to thinking…we should skype coffee time. Why haven’t I thought of this before?
🙂

Ashlyn@Pinecone - Love, love, love Mumford & Sons, the Black Keys, and Adele. Do you like Ellie Goulding? Her songs starry eyed, lights, and Your Song(remake of the Elton song) Love her…she was on SNL last week.
Got my Matthew Mead yesterday…you article is fabulous!!
xo

Mandy - Hey Megs! Love your playlist, lots of goodies that I listen to on there. So, I have a suggestion, you should check out The Avett Brothers. Even my kids love them and sing along!

IMG_1486-3

waffle and i went for a run…..ran into a friend running with her dog.
that was fun!
kind of….waffle is so dorky and a spaz.
but we made it….all four of us.

after the kids finished their chores craig loaded them all up and they left for scott's basketball tournament.

they left me home alone.

🙂

craig offered it to me a few weeks ago to have the weekend off at home alone
and i thought for sure it wouldn't really happen….

but it did.

as he was backing out of the driveway he rolled down the window and said "why are you smiling so big?"
ha ha ha.

IMG_1498-1
i made a pineapple and banana smoothie.

IMG_1452-1
i checked on mama.

IMG_1464-1
those are my legs in the bottom corner…..up on a step ladder.

look at how her nest is almost off the edge!
that ledge is……at the most…3 inches wide.

IMG_1465-2

IMG_1500-2
found these two little globe banks when i stopped in at my favorite antique shop….and i met a blog reader!
love that.
hi sarah!

i got all ready for my evening alone…..
IMG_1502-3

IMG_1507-4
i went up in the craft room and opened my mother's day gift.

that i bought for myself and haven't told anyone that i did.

i bought myself a pink fridge.
for my favorite snacks and drinks.

all mine.
in the craft room.
it's so darn cute.
IMG_1511-5
technically the pepsi is for craig….because i like sharing with him.

i stayed up in the craft room for 3 hours cleaning.
it was a wreck.
and now it's not.
yay.

i watched The Dilemma.
ugh.
yuck.
vince vaughn…..why did you do that to me????  you made me waste my time on my one night alone?!
your movie SUCKED.
there was no chemistry and i could tell in the very first scene.
BOOOOO vince vaughn.

(but i still love you….)

————————————————————————————————————————————

i looked for some pictures of my mom for mothers day in my one box of photos i have.

when i was a kid my dad took my sister & i to an Audubon camp out in ark city, ks on mother's day weekend.
i never even knew that it was for more than a camp out.
it was to give my mom the weekend off!
genius.
i just loved catching the snakes and running on the rocks.

for real….snakes.

i love you very much.
you did a great job dealing with what a brat i was.
i am grateful.

and so sorry.

thank you for not giving up on me.

i hope your day is great!

and mine is going to be full of more gardening.
while i wait for my carload of goofy kids to return with all their lovely voices that i miss already.

i mean…..i hope they take their sweet time getting here…..but i still miss them when we are apart.

דומיין בעברית - I wish to all my friends Happy mother’s day. I got several unique thought regarding mothers day. I like it all. Thanks for sharing this blog.

Ohsweetwhatever.wordpress.com - Please please please please tell me you’re going to sell prints of those gorgeous blue eggs in the nest???????

Melissa - Where oh where did you get that pink fridge?? I need one very badly!

danielle - i could go for a couple days in the craft room with you and that fridge. mmmkay?

Brooke - The fridge is to die for!!! So cute! I want one for my sewing room, had no idea I could get a PINK one! Yeeeehaw!!! A day by yourself…..fantastic!!!!!

Megan - At first I thought…is that a pink fridge? then read it’s a pink fridge! love it! pepsi, chocolate, beer…all my favorite things.

Londen - I love the fridge and everything inside…makes me want a bud light. Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I really wanted a whole day to myself but it didn’t work out. Soon.

bobbie - We watched The Dillema too on saturday night. ugh. I agree.
Annie looks so much like you as a kid!! really.

Janie - I just love your blog!!! I have to check out what you are doing everyday. I feel like you are my girl friend across the states. Keep up the great work.
Janie

Lisa - I asked for the same thing on Mother’s Day – my hubs took the two boys to the soccer tournament for the majority of the day on Saturday and Saturday evening leaving me at home with the puppy. 🙂 I ate ice cream with chocolate sauce and watched a movie – Brothers with Toby McGuire and Jake Gyllenhall. Good to get time alone in my own house! 🙂

Toni :O) - Okay, we love the same candy!!! No wonder I love your blog and the pink fridge…adorable! Glad you had a great Mother’s Day, mine was spent napping for a good portion of it, hence, the reason I’m wide awake at 1 a.m.! I often wonder how in the world you keep white furniture with five kids??? You are SuperWoman! :O)

Kacey - Sweet pink fridge! Happy Mother’s Day – glad it was wonderful.

karen - too cute Meg..too stink’n cute!!
Happy Mother’s Day!

Rebekah Brummel - WOW! Lauren looks like your sister!

Carly Winborne - everything about this post is de-lish. loving that pink fridge, the pineapple smoothie and a stack of magazines. the time alone sounds like . . . well, i don’t have the right word. perfection? bliss? heaven? unattainable? 🙂 all of the above. glad you enjoyed the day.

Heather R. - Just check my mail…Matthew Mead’s Summer was in it. And your blog. 🙂

jeana - My Birthday was today…I’ve been spoiled since Friday. I kinda wanted a morning alone too, but decided not to be ungrateful for all I did get. Although it still sounds pretty stinkin dreamy! i’m so glad you you got time and I love the idea of having your own snacks in a room far away ha! Happy Mother’s Day sweet Meg!

stacie - Happy, Happy Mama’s Day to you!! Your gift is my dream … the time alone (well, I hadn’t thought of the pink fridge, but I’d love to have some of those goodies too :)). Thanks for being an inspiring, amazing mom to your readers who are mamas too.

Emily Zimmerman - Happy Mother’s Day Meg!! I love your blog!! You always have me laughing out loud! Like today when you bought yourself a mother’s day present, genius idea, I expected jewelry, a book, but when I saw the fridge and a pink fridge…priceless! I love it and think I need one for myself. Every mom needs there own little stash. And I agree about the movie Dilemma. Just watched it this weekend with my husband and I was disappointed. We both love Vince Vaughn but this movie missed the mark. Have you seen Wedding Crashers?? It’s been my husband’s favorite for a long time, but it’s been growing on me. Very funny and classic Vince Vaughn.

Josephbirdsong.blogspot.com - happy mother’s day meg! kudos on that bud light!

Dana @ Bungalow'56 - Ah sounded wonderful. While we here at the Bungalow are emptying out the basement getting ready for a reno. Ugh! Took a Starbucks break though, and did a little walk through at Costco. Just the hubs and me, while the girls cleaned the house back at home. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Dana

Tracy Fisher - Happy Mother’s Day Meg. I love your photos and stories (except the part about snakes). Your kids look so much like you when you were yournger. Isnt’ it funny how we appologize to our moms now. My mom pretends she doesn’t remember the bad things I did. She just says that to be nice. They all do. But notice how they still like to hear the appologie? haha.
Have a great day.
Tracy Fisher

Tara - i love when i visit here and i laugh out loud like i did when i saw your pink fridge in your awesome craft room with beer in it.
still laughing….

Julia - Thanks for saving me from renting a bad movie – I hate wasting the time!

Kimberly Dial - You always make me smile. Thank you for being you. I love it!

Kimberly Dial - You always make me smile. Thank you for being you. I love it!

Terrie - In LOVE with that PINK fridge! Maybe my craft room needs one of those! LOL!!
Hope you got some awesome crafting done!
Have a FaBuLoUs MoThEr’S DaY!!

Jill - Perfect gift!!!
LOVE. THAT. FRIDGE. and everything IN IT! LOVE!

Shannon - Happy Mother’s Day!!! I just received my Mathew Mead mag. and I love the article on your home, great pics!

Kimberlee Jost - Pink fridge + time alone= double love.

Heather R. - Happy Mother’s Day!

Shayne - Your pink fridge gift to yourself made me laugh out loud! I think that’s fantastic, and it’s a perfect color.
Craig was so insightful to give you time alone. I’m convinced that that’s what most moms would ask for, if they didn’t feel guilty doing it. Time alone makes us enjoy the time with our families so much more.
Glad you had a wonderful weekend. 🙂

betsy - HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! I don’t know how you do it all … and get a blog post up every day!
LOVING the pink fridge. Maybe I need one for my classroom. Will you tell us what brand it is? Pretty please?
Have a great day! Enjoy the Spring weather that finally decided to show up in Kansas 🙂

april - my mothers day wish…i could sit in your craft room and craft, drink a beer and make cute stuff….i know i know….dorky…hahaha
xoxo

Carol S - What a gorgeous mom you have, runs in the family. Nice break for you. I appreciate the mom’s day post. Gotta make a couple salads, have pulled pork in the crock pot for dinner, get to church, then my parents and mil are coming for late lunch in the backyard (gardened last week). Thank you God!

Short, Sweet Season - A weekend alone…that is going to the top of my wishlist! My husband and baby went to the store to buy ingredients to cook breakfast this morning, so that 30 minute break was pure relaxing bliss for me! Have a wonderful rest of Mother’s Day!

Alicia @ La Famille - oh ms. meg…a LITTLE jealous of your weekend AT HOME…ALONE! that’s better than winning the lotto 🙂 ha!! glad you are having a great mom’s day weekend. i went shopping for summer clothes alllll alone last night. that was fun 🙂
oh, hey…did you check out page 39 of that magazine on top of your pile? still a little giddy 😉 i consider it a big mom’s day gift 🙂

Leah - Happy Mother’s Day! Thanks for giving me something fun to read every day. And my husband just took my daughter to Starbucks to buy me a drink. I’m cherishing the 15 minutes of freedom and silence. It’s like I’m on vacation.

Penny - I love your pink fridge too! I am looking for globes and can never find any. boo hoo. I remember when my kids were young.
(2,5,8) my husband gave me the entire day alone, to do what I wanted. I soaked in the tub reading magazines, I watched a movie and read my book. I also just ate whatever I wanted, no cooking. It was the best mother’s day ever. I am now waiting for my girls to come and shower me with love! They are 17, 20, 23! I really don’t think the 17 year old is ready to shower me with love though, she hates Michigan’s new law that new
driver’s under 18 must be in by 10:00. I love the law because I didn’t make it, but IT”S THE LAW! 🙂

Lisa - I hope you had a great time alone. I may need to suggest to my wonderful husband that he take the kids for a night like that. I could use it!!!! 🙂

Annika - Happy Mothers Day! That fridge is so cool! (Pun intended!)

Esther Dee - ok…where did you get that pink fridge??? waayy to cute.
Happy Mothers Day, Meg!!!!!

Trina Curran - Oh. Em. Gee. I have to get a pink frig. That is freaking awesome! And I’m so glad your momma birdie is doing well. She looks like she will have a fabulous mother’s day too! 🙂

Sharla - Happy Mother’s Day Meg! Your weekend sounds great – this KS weather is making my weekend too! Thanks for your wonderful blog and starting my day off right 🙂

brooke - You had me at “pink fridge” and bud light 🙂
so glad you had a day to yourself!

Sarah@this farm family's life - You are so lucky and I love the pink fridge! And the Bud Lights look delightful. Enjoy your time alone!

ashley jensen - The pink fridge is awesome!! I want one. I have no where to put it but still. I have no problem with snakes either. Happy Mothers Day Meg!!!

Holly - cute fridge! Wish I could justify that but the kitchen is right off of my craft room so the big fridge is already close by! I am wanting to do some gardening today also but word is that the cicadas are back and I dont love them at all so we will see! Happy mothers day!

Ruth Elder - THANK YOU for validating the thought I had that all I wanted for MY Mother’s Day was time alone, away from my 5 kids!
I don’t feel so terrible now. I mean, we need to re-charge, right? Being a Mom is the hardest job there is.
And the best.

jill - Now I want:

checkin’ in with you…..

ok….

i have some stuff to tell you and some questions to ask.

1.  i am still doing Ripped in 30 with jillian michaels.

     IMG_1227-2

     so far…..i am not ripped.
there is the one day of the month left & i should be done tomorrow but i am only on work out #17 today.
i am not sure if she means ripped in 30 days or 30 workouts.
but i am going to do 30 workouts either way.

2.  yesterdays video.
     thanks for all the encouragement!
talby came up with her questions and annie stole some….which made her mad.
sean came up with his own.
the original video was 8 minutes long….so you got the best 4 minutes.
     it was fun.
i will definitely do it again.

3.  did you see that we helped raise $17,093 for sergey!!!
     that is amazing….GOD is amazing!
     God's timing is perfect.
i am so thankful that danielle gave me the opportunity to serve.

     Danielle_fund_logo

and grateful for each of you that GAVE!!
i mean really….you are helping a baby get a mama!  AWESOME.

go check and see if you won any of those fabulous prizes….especially if your name is jennifer!
     lucky girl!

4.   should i be on twitter?

      2382680812_34858bec65

      why?
what do you people talk about over there?
what am i missing out on?

5.  there is one more day for the gatorade giveaway.
go over there and leave a comment and you might win a $100 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods.

      Gatorade-g-series

if i won i would use it for sports bras.
     exciting right?
not really cool shoes or cute workout clothes…….boring bras.
because if you need a serious sports bra they are expensive.
     jillian….doesn't even wear one!

some of her "moves" i can't physically do because there is stuff in the way….if you know what i mean.

but you can spend your $100 any way you'd like.

————————————————————————————————————————

and that's it for my friday.

it's pizza for dinner and a movie on the couch.

and i got a netflix for me after the kids go to bed….Parenthood….the MOVIE.
one of my most favorite movies ever.
(probably a PG rated trailer….fyi)

the show is so good because the movie was so good.
and REAL.

Natasha - Twitter and FB are VERY different… FB is more static, whereas Twitter is an ongoing conversation (think telephone party line, but without the creepy, scuzzy connotation). Should you be on twitter? Depends what you hope to gain…
I loved FB from the moment I started. I like that your profile page is your landing point to post photos and let friends know what’s going on in your life. By contrast, I’ve found Twitter most useful when I’m at a public event/location or watching something major on tv (e.i. Royal Wedding, news-worthy item, current episode of American Idol) and I want to know what others think about it, right now, as it’s happening…
In general, I’ve found that with Twitter I don’t use my “profile” as the primary point of interaction, like I would with FB; instead, I use the search feature. You can search any topic under the sun that you would want to have a conversation about. Most often I can just throw in my 2 cents with a tweet, but sometimes I’ll also respond to something someone else has said.
Did that make sense? If not, just email me, and I’ll try to say it better!

andrea - just a comment on the exercising: yes, you probably are supposed to do 30 in 30 days but… does she have 5 kids? does she clean the house? wash the clothes? fix their dinner? drive them here, there and everywhere? I look at it as you did MORE THAN one every other day (17 in 30)! THAT IS AWESOME!
Also, understand the sports bra thing, that is why I will never, ever be a runner!

Whitney S - I have Twitter, but to be honest I am not sure what the point of it is. Maybe I just am not funny enough 🙂
It doesn’t matter if you’re not “ripped” after 30 days- at least you’re doing it. I did Slim in 6 from Beach Body and noticed some results, but not the results they said I would. I guess it depends on what your definition of “ripped” is 🙂
AND I love Both Parenthoods too! When he loses his retainer it makes me think back to searching for mine in the McDonald’s trash again- Steve Martin is a lot funnier looking for it than my dad! 🙂

Shaina Brown - I have to admit you inspired me to go out and by Jillian’s dvd, did a solid 10 days and pulled my “hammi” so bad that I had to take 2 days off. darn squats! I will be back at it tomorrow, but I think I will be mixing in some yoga as well. thinking my body needs a little extra stretching and not so much squatting! not sure if your cable provider has on demand, but on the exercise channel you can do all of her workouts for free!!!

Corinne - Im sure you’re kicking some major bootie in your jillian workout!
I had to weigh in on the twitter…umm, maybe not…bc if you tweeted I would have to join to see your awesome tweets…and well, I don’t really want to understand the whole twitter craze…so its for selfish reason! 😉
either way…love love your blog…thank you for letting into your fun life and your creative ideas!
Enjoy your weekend!

Staci - I’m cracking up…”it’s been 30 days…and I am not ripped!” I love it 😉 We need to stream Parenthood…haven’t seen it in a lonnnng time 😉 Happpy Weekending Duerksen FamilY!!!

Holly - Laughing at your Jillian video because I have been ignoring her lately. I need to talk with her though because my junk food habit is kicking my booty!

Stefanie @ eatsleepandrun.blogspot.com - Stick with the workout! I did it for 2 months before I hit a “giving up” day. And I never hit that day because I got toned (I’m not ripped) and lost 32 pounds! Stop drinking soda (if you do drink it) its not doing any favors for ya 🙂
I eat healthy, but I don’t “diet” – you’ll see results. Hang in there. I also do her yoga workout which I love, even though I hate yoga and I do her No More Trouble Zones DVD too – its 50 minutes long and gets rid of all those areas that you get after pregnancy. You know, those areas we pretend to be proud of but we really hate 🙂
Twitter is AWESOME! You’re not on there? I knew someone was missing. I love it. Its way better than Facebook. A great way to stay up with news and current events with out all the photos and jabber and back and forth. I love it. You will too. Its the opposite of Facebook because its takes seconds to get through, where FB can take hours of your day.

Alicia @ La Famille - i was doing jullian’s 30 day shred…maybe i should try yours…looks like it’s going well 🙂 definately do another video…very cool! and i don’t have a clue what twitter is/does. seems like another time zapper 🙂 ha!!

Carrie - Awesome fund raising…just amazing what you have accomplished so far! Keep it up♥
You should be proud of your hard work with Jillian…she is not an easy trainer to please!

betsy - Have to give my 2 cents on Twitter … I’m on it & share more there than I do on my (writing) blog or FB these days. Even if you don’t share a lot on Twitter, it’s a nice way to find people that have the same interests as you do: crafts, photography, kids, sewing, charity, etc. and then share ideas and support.
I’d definitely follow you … but if you feel like you’re overwhelmed with what is already on your plate, then it might not be for you.
I DO have to tell you that I’m L-O-V-I-N-G that you’ve had a new post every day for quite some time. I come from work each night and check all of my Top Sites on my MBP that are updated … in order from sort-of care about, to like to read, to LOVE to read as the last ones I check. I always check your blog updates right before I check updates about my niece on my sister’s blog.
Keep it up!
P.S. Thank goodness Spring has finally decided to show up in Kansas 🙂

Carol S - Oh, Parenthood is SUCH a classic! Loved it then, haven’t seen it in awhile. Liked your video yesterday, too, super fun, did I tell you that? You are so real and your kids are cool and totally normal. That’s nice. Thanks for blogging so much, it’s fun to read new stuff daily. I have Jillian…have tried her two months with mixed success, never more than 15 days. It’s the darn weekends that kill me…Mon-Fri keep me on the wagon. Just keep going!!

Necole - Twitter is fun. It is just another way to express yourself. I wish I knew what it was like to need a sports bra. Nothing has ever gotten in my way but my bug butt. Parenthood is such a great movie.

Jessica Johnson - i give you a big, huge green light on twitter. it’s weird at first but fun, too. but still weird. oh jillian. i wanted to rip her eyes out in 30 seconds. i LOVE that you drew on her. especially a pirate hat.

Routhie - Don’t waste your time. I was on twitter ages ago and it was only fun when a few friends were on, which was usually a holiday. Otherwise, it’s lost on anyone who actually has things to get done during the day. Prolly why so many celebs are on. I had friends who would think it funny to tweet about 60 times in a row. That got old and it took longer to see what other friends were tweeting. FB is distracting enough.

Jenniferjkeating - I was going to send you a note and let you know that one of your followers was the big winner in Sergy’s fundraiser. I feel very lucky but Terrie is right on….Sergy is the luckier one! He is going to be surrounded by so much love! We have two kids that are adopted and two that are biological and it’s all the same love. My husband was also adopted when he was three so adoption is very close to my heart. I am so happy that they are closer to bringing him home. I can’t wait to see pictures of him in his new home surrounded by his brother and sisters and his Mom and Dad. 🙂

Terrie - 1. Love that I’m excited about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie from your drawing on Jillian.
2. Loved the ‘normalness’ of the video…Mad Mommy…LOL!!
3. Lucky Jennifer…but even LUCKIER Sergey!!
4. I don’t get Twitter…but I love facebook! I can interact with many peeps I wouldn’t normally get to stay connected with.
5. Almost missed the gatorade giveaway
6. I’ll get right online and get my Summer mag order in! 🙂
Enjoy your movie…I’m going to catch up on Grey’s & Private Practice while doing a pedi. I’ve spent the whole day watching the royal wedding. Now I’m going to catch up on some other dvr’d goodies while the men are out of the house! Have a great weekend!!

Jennifer W - My husband told me that twitter is like facebook without the games.
You made my heart skip a beat when you stated that someone named Jennifer won! It wasn’t me but, still happy I donated to bring that sweet baby home!
Happy weekend!

Michelle from Australia - I’m not a fan of Twitter. To me blogs are written with purpose. Twitter isn’t. Just my thought for what it is worth….

happygirl - You should do twitter. It will increase your traffic. just sayin’ I’m trying to increase traffic and all the cool blog experts say to do it. That’s all I have. And, I tweeted about Parenthood (the movie) yesterday as being TRUTH. Great minds, eh?

Mindy Harris - meg–i too would spend the $100 on 1.5 sports bras.
i am on twitter but don’t spend alot of time on it. it’s just another way for me to network as i grow my blog. and you can be a bit more confident (ballsy–sorry to use that word) on there because you know you may never meet the people.
i follow brook burke on twitter and tweet to her. she never writes back but at least she knows a kansas girl finds her beautiful and inspiring (she’s a good mom and eats right).
happy wknd!

jeannett - ha! we watched parenthood on on demand a few nights ago. loved. it. loved. but i like the tv show better.
as for twitter, don’t do it. it’s a time suck. the end.

Kacey - Well, I’m really not one to be offering advice, given that I didn’t make it through the full 30 days myself, but I say go for it and don’t worry if it’s supposed to be 30 days in a row. You’ll feel accomplished and you’ll feel better physically. Me, I’m a wimp and I’m going to stick with my fat-burning Pilates, which I actually love. That reminds me…
Have a lovely weekend!
Kacey
P.S. I’m on the fence about Twitter. I can’t keep up and my life is too boring for regular updates about what I’m doing (same thing with Facebook) but I’m there anyway. I just tweet occasionally when there’s something worth tweeting about!

nicole @ deliajude - parenthood is the best ever…especially the roller coaster of it all.

Linda@Restyled Home - Don’t waste your time with Twitter. it is boring…truly. An outlet for way too much randomness, if you ask me.
Or maybe I jsut haven’t really figured it out. I don’t know. I jsut know that there are enough time suckers and it will infringe upon your being such a fun mum. Real life is so much more fun!
Love your Gillian Micheals doodles. Especially the angry belly button. It is probably saying, “feed me!” ;0)

Adrienne S - I am so with you on the sports bra! Why are they so expensive? Next up you should try P90X. Totally worth it.

alyssa - I stopped reading this post so I could say this. Her boobs hang out all the time. It drives me nuts. Maybe you should use your gift card to get her a bra!

Leah - I vote for no Twitter. Don’t get me wrong; I’m on Twitter and I use it. But honestly, it’s just one more thing to manage. You don’t need it. You have such a great group of loyal followers to your blog and we’re going to read you no matter what. So I really don’t think you need to add Twitter to your mix. But if you do, I’ll follow you.

julia - Didn’t want to be a downer but I have a 30 vid of Jillian’s and it totally bulked me up and I didn’t lose any weight. She actually says in her video that your muscles will get bigger and that your bigger leg muscles will make your ankles look smaller (IKIDYOUNOT).
I do posts titled “I don’t do Twitter, but if I did, this is what I would Tweet”

Diana - Love the drawing on Jillian, LOL! Very… original. Hehe. My son and daughter-in-law did the whole Biggest Loser thing, all the dvds and such (they lost 75 and 65 pounds!)… I asked DIL and she says it means ripped in 30 days.
I was on twitter for several months. For me, it became a fad whose time had passed. I prefer my facebook because I can do everything on it, even blog.

janene - I like twitter–not as universal as FB (which I quit eight weeks ago and don’t miss: )–can check out posts of people I follow…don’t have all the family/friends following and I can just keep up or check out what friends in the blogosphere are up to.

sue - Did you watch the Royal Wedding Meg.?

Sophie - I think you should get a Twitter and give it a go! You can just tweet things about your day and talk to all your readers and stuff. I make it sound boring, but it’s really not. I’d follow you!
Also, I’ve talked to some of my favourite celebrities on there (the best one being Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, who is pretty much my idol) so it’s a great opportunity to talk to your favourite stars.
Danielle should feel so blessed that you helped to raise so much for Sergey. I donated $80, and ended up winning Charlaanne’s pink flower pin which was unexpected. Totally not why I donated, obviously, but a nice surprise none the less.
The video was super cute and I can’t wait to see more! (:

amy - I think I need to go back and watch Parenthood now that I am in the thick of it, I forgot how funny that movie was 🙂

georgia - I think Jillians dvd is for 30days, but 30 workouts would be the same im guessing as you only doi it once a day… ?
Im just getting round to the Twitter idea.. its like facebook but you can only write status’s and reply to other peoples, like celebritys, friends etc
Did you see the royal wedding on tv? made me feel totally patriotic was nice watching it on tv..

Janelle - I vote no for Twitter.
I ordered Jillian but now I have decided just to see how ripped you are in 30 to determine if I should do it or not 🙂 Just my way of procrastinating once again!

april - um meg….Im pretty sure jillain is pissed you drew all over her, but I love it!!! Dont worry I wont forward this to her…hahahaha The video WAS awesome and I cant wait to see the next one! I thought it was so cute that julie won your hoodie….fate man…fate!
xoxo

the prom

lauren is going to prom today.

and there is a good chance i won't even see her all dolled up….she's going with a group…i don't have all the details.
bleh.

just in case i don't…. i have a couple pictures of her dress and shoes.
it may be the best i get.
i hope not…but i am keeping my expectations low so i don't cry all night about my baby being big & all that stuff.

she's going to look beautiful.

IMG_0476-1

did you go to prom?

i went all four years of high school.

and they were all FUN.

nothing crazy…nothing scandalous….just fun.

my freshman year i went with a foreign exchange student…..fernando.
a whole group of us together…two other foreign exchange students too.
(and kristi kita and lori claassen)  :)
we ate at a restaurant before & they almost didn't let us into prom because we arrived 15 minutes past the time.

but they did.
yay.
i don't have a picture of the group and that is bummer.
but here is me and my friend tonya….from a different banquet that year….in the same dress.

1991

IMG_0635-2
"i like your sleeves….they're real big"

nice braces.

1992
my sophomore year i went with craiggers.
score!
i thought i looked AWESOME.
my dad said "do you have a turle neck to wear with that?"

IMG_0638-4
apparently  i was bow crazy.

love the gloves!   shiny satin always looks good….don't ever doubt that.

i think i cried while getting ready because my curls were getting out of control.
thank goodness i made them fabulous by prom time.

ha.
IMG_0637-3
is that the cutest couple you've ever seen?

the answer is yes.

i had this picture framed in my teenage bedroom for three more years.
IMG_0646-5
that was the last time i wore electric blue heels….hmm i wonder why?….they are so versatile & go with everything!?
but also i haven't worn elbow length gloves with bows since that night either.
maybe i should bring it back.
the world needs more gloved occasions.

1993
my junior year i went with friends because my boyfriend (craig) was gone at college far away.
and since i had been twice already the usual dress was too boring.

and i cut off all my hair.
IMG_0631-1
my shoes were from the theater department.
my dress was my friend roxi's moms….if i remember correctly.
my date was dan….my first friend i had in that town….my 6th grade boyfriend….my friend still to this day.
hi dan.
🙂

jamie…where was your dress from?  we were groovy.
hi jamie.

brian….nice bow tie.
hi brian.

i don't remember anything else about that night at all….and i don't think i did anything bad that i am trying to block out….but i cannot be sure about that.

1994
and my senior year….craig was in college but closer than the year before….so he was my date.
i am sure he was thrilled about it.
not.

IMG_0655-7

the decorations were crazy.
black plastic?  in front of wood gazebo?  wrapped in tulle?
i wish i could remember the theme!!

IMG_0649-6
sequins!!!
woo hoo.

did you watch parenthood two weeks ago?

was your prom good or bad?

let's hear it…..

Emery Sprau - Oh, you definitely had a great high school promenade experience. Since it is one of the most enjoyable and memorable part of our high school days; this should not be missed. If we could just turn back time…

Kelly - Oh, my, FLASHBACK!! In 1993, at my junior prom, I wore the same black dress that you wore in 1991. 🙂 Only I went to a Christian school that had to approve our dresses before hand, and they made me sew a peice of (black) fabric behind the cutout of mine. Ah, memories!

jennyonthespot - Fun pics! Such a cutie you are!
We didn’t have one – we had “spring banquet”… And I went, but only with guy pals. Not great memories. Not bad. Kinda meh-ish.

Heather - Lauren looked beautiful! I came back to read everyone’s stories and then I wanted to share too. 🙂 I personally loved Homecoming (our fall formal dance) more than prom, because it was more of a fun, carefree dance. Prom was OFFICIAL. People took off school the day before to go lay out (tan), get their mani/pedi done, etc. Prom was only for juniors and seniors (unless you got invited by an upperclassman, and I didn’t), so I only went twice.
Junior year I had no official date- a bunch of girlfriends and I met up for a seafood dinner and then carpooled to the dance (at a fancy country club in a nearby town). I wore a long dark purple dress borrowed from my little sister (previously worn to a Homecoming dance). I rode with my good friend Callie, whose dad let us borrow a mustang convertible to drive to the dance. It was so fun!! Then, when we got to the dance, I got sick (from the mussels at dinner, I later deduced), and I don’t remember much else being fun after that.
Senior prom was MUCH better. I wore a long black dress with sheer side panels and a somewhat open back. (Looking at pictures now, it’s pretty tame by objective standards, but to me it felt very grown up and sophisticated.) My mom even let me get my hair done at a place in town (for the first time ever). I went with a huge co-ed group of friends, and we all met at my house beforehand. Our parents chipped in for a limo because our prom was at Disney World, which was like a hour away, and our parents thought it was safer if we weren’t all driving so far. We ate at one of the Disney hotel restaurants (full of kids, hilariously), and then prom itself was in an enormous ballroom. It was really beautiful! And, because it was my senior year, I cared a lot more about the slideshow, the senior class notables, and the other non-dance things that occurred at prom. It was GREAT. It was beautiful. It was a rite of passage.
Thanks for this post and I love that electric blue dress. 🙂

jeana - I got asked, but never went. The first year, I was asked by a friend, and I had just met my new boyfried (now my hubby) and wanted to hang with him instead. The next year, I was new pregnent and sick…yeah and the next year I was getting married the next week. I didn’t want to go to prom ha. LOVE you pictures, so fun to look at.

Annette - Love the pictures, seeing those pics make me feel like i was not the only one wearing dresses like that! i look back now and think “What was i thinking” but everyone was on the same page then! the white dress in the last picture (in the middle) i had one like that i wore to my Junior prom! my date (now my husband of 15 years) had a matching tux, we thought we were all that!

kristine - O.M.G!!! ha ha
first, i had the SAME blue dress!!! i wore it for 8th grade graduation and dance. my mom sewed spaghetti straps onto it though because i wasn’t allowed to wear strapless. and my hair may have been half up with a white bow clip too…can’t remember but i don’t know why i wouldn’t have!
second, i bet the theme was “secret garden” – wasn’t that everyone’s prom theme one year?!
so funny!
lauren looks gorgeous! glad you got to see her!

Amber - Tina! Come & get your dinner! Eat it! Eat it!
🙂 been a long time…still cracks me up.
Hope Lauren had a great night!
And, yes. I went to prom. Homeschool style. Oh yeah…don’t laugh. I had an awesome dress…& I went with my highschool sweetheart, who is now my husband of 7 1/2 years:). Good times.

Laura Phelps who should go to bed and not be reading blogs this late at night - HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
I should not be on the computer this LATE
clearly, that last post was NOT from Jillian
LOL

JILLIAN - my mom made me go to the prom with a friends son who went to an all boys prep school
I knew no one
barely knew him
wore a pink poofy satin dress
he wore RED
so awkward
all of it
drank wine coolers
was miserable
senior year went to the prom with a friend
totally uneventful
remember nothing
funny
the theme was “the best of times”
HAHA
So NOT
my nephew is going to the prom soon
I asked if he would take me as his date
I mean, I am legal
I can totally buy the beer
he said no
oh well
and hey…you and craig??
ugh
I just tear up when I see these pictures
I love you guys

Rachel - That is the sweetest kissing pic EVER!

Janelle - My junior year, I asked a boy to go simply because my mom refused to spend a lot of money on the dress of my dreams because I didn’t have a date/boyfriend. So I actually asked this boy to go so I could get the dress I wanted!
Senior year, I went to prom with a guy friend. Unfortunately, he was in love with my best friend (who was not into him at all) and the last dance, he sat and fumed over her dancing with her date while I sat and twiddled my thumbs. I couldn’t believe I didn’t get to dance the last dance of my senior prom!

leonieke - wow! love the shoes!
and the picture are great.

Alisha Gibb - My junior year was dreamy. I went with my dream date, but my senior year was horrible! I accepted a date that I never shoould have. Bummer night, but you live and learn.
Parenthood two weeks ago? How about the past week’s episode?!?! Holy cow I’m not ready for that phase in parenting. Yikes!
Btw, I’m not sure how to link my last post to your blog but I wrote about the great stuff from The French Bull and HuePhoria. Thanks!

callie grayson - great photos!
Mine was bad that turned into good!
My date was MIA {off doing drugs} and since I wasn’t into that sort of thing, I went to the huge dance next door (prom was in a hotel) There was an AARP convention and they were having a dance…. well, I went next door with an other girl who’s date had disappeared and we swing danced, jitter bugged and had all sorts of dancing fun with the grandpa’s next door! we had a blast!!
so it ended up being a fun night.
xx
callie

No. 17 Cherry Tree Lane - The short blue dress with the white gloves is my personal favorite.

Trina McNeilly - OMG that is the cutest picture evah of you guys!!!!
xoxo

Jen - The first picture of you and Craig could be a picture of Talby and Sean! Tell them (and then listen to them making barfing sounds).

ashley jensen - At my prom (in 98) I went with my boyfriend who i had broken up with once and then got back together with right before prom (i realized i needed a date, i know that was mean but he was kind of a jerk). The group of friends I went with were all seniors who worked at KFC with me. I don’t remember the theme and it was that time of the month for me…boo. We went to a fancy restaurant for dinner, I had some sequins on my dress but just as accents. One of my friends had the exact same dress as me but a different style. She paid 150 at Dillards and I paid 35 at Name Brand Clothing!! Oh and my brother was there too since he was dating one of our fellow swim team members. Then the next morning was his 16th bithday and everyone went back to our house at 2am for cake!

Laura M - Wow!! Sean looks so much like Craig!!! Love all the pics especially of you and Craig! Hope Lauren had a great time! Prom is such a special memory. I loved going!

Lisa - Thanks for these photos…I have some similar puffy-sleeved memories! I went to prom all four years (as sophomores we could go as servers if selected by the junior class). I have such wonderful memories of those times. Spending weeks before decorating with my classmates, going to “after-prom”, then after-after prom where someone’s weary parents would cook us all breakfast, even riding to my senior prom in a horse and buggy! Good times. Hope Lauren has a great night!

Rachel @ Pencil Shavings - This is hee-larious! LOVE IT! Now I feel like I need to go dig up all my awkward prom photos (actually, we didn’t have prom, we had “JSB” – junior/senior banquet — couldn’t have DANCING at a Christian school event! ha!). I was laughing w/ my hubs tonight about prom. We went out w/ our son downtown to go eat, and all the prom kids were out. We ate at this hokey, kinda dirty Mexican restaurant, and there was this poor little prom couple, sitting in their finest duds, and all I could think about was what if you dropped your refried beans all over your sequined prom dress(!). ::sigh:: I’m sure it was a cheap date. Poor girl!

AshleyAnn - Ummm yes, those pictures are awesome. I did not got to prom, but went to “alterna prom” with some friends. Just got dressed up and went to Red Lobster. I wore pleated khaki slacks and a purple button up shirt. My best friend Rachel went too and wore a flowy dress. We are standing next to eachother in all the pictures and very much look like a couple 🙂

Amy - Didn’t go to prom. I was really, really shy in high school and didn’t get asked.

julia - I went to the prom with my best friend. We went to a fancy restaurant and the waiter said “What happened? You couldn’t rustle up some dates?” I’d like to think we didn’t tip him but we probably did.

Sharla - Loved this post. My niece’s prom was tonight and I so wish I could have been back home to see her. And I wore the same rockin bright blue with big bow dress that you had – I’ll have to go back and find my pics. Great minds think alike! 🙂 Loved the pic of you and Craig kissing. . . .

Kimberlee J. - Proof again in that pic with you and the bow (and your beau) that Sean is turning into Craig. 🙂
I also LOVED seeing all these other people that I know so well!

Amy R. - I went to prom once, my senior year. My boyfriend asked me to marry him that night and gave me a ring. The first thing I thought of was, “what in the world am I going to tell my parents?” We told them later the next day and now we have been married for almost 16 years. My daughter better not even think of doing that!
Love your pics!
Amy

Hannah - oh my goodness! you have made me want to get out my prom photos…but i love the fact that you and craig have been together so long…and you are still so in love! that is so awesome….and i hope you get pics of lauren…..because one day she will be sad that you didn’t have any! been there…done that! 🙂 you crack me up every day 🙂

amy jupin - i love that you shared this.
this is what makes your blog so much fun–the personal details.
of course i can totally relate.
dyed shoes. big bows. poofy sleeves. sequins.
my proms were the same years and i can tell you that we were completely in style and smokin hot! 🙂
i sure hope lauren shares prom with you.
i know she’ll be beautiful.
and there will probably be tears either way.

Margo - Thanks for sharing these pics – I love that I recognize some of the faces in them! I never went to any of my proms – I was shy back then – way, way shy – all I did was study – I was a complete nerd! hahaha! I did go to the after prom party my senior year – it was fun.

Dana Banana - Thanks for the heads up with the prom photos! Dying right now!!! What was I thinking letting my mom taking me dress shopping?! Cream? No sequens? Corsage? GAG Thanks for the flashbacks.

Michelle - Your pictures so remind of the movie “13 going on 30” AWESOME- and your curls were totally fabulous.

Staci - Oh your Lauren is going to look so beautiful 🙂 At our school our prom was only for Juniors and Seniors…but I got to go when I was a Sophomore too because my boyfriend was a Senior…good times, big hair….and ohhhhh I soooo wanted a sequin dress, but did not get one ;( booohooo at the time…no big dealio today 🙂 and that picture of you and Craig kissing…I mean, seriously, that picture says destined to be together forever…I love the way your hand is on his face 🙂 soooo sweet 🙂 Can’t wait to hear how prom night was for Lauren 🙂

FREE CASH - my daughter has her prom coming up and i can already see the pound signs rolling in her eyes lol

Wendi - No tattoo pictures? I remember the one of you and Craig kissing for some reason. Thanks for posting! That was fun shopping for sequens and cubic zirconias…and tattoos. Good times.

sarah - i love this trip down memory lane! you were sassy even as a teen…i like that.
and tell lauren we neeeeeeed to see her all fab and dressed up. please.

Rach - I went twice and I think I went in your friend’s 1991 dress. 🙂 I went in ’88 & ’89 so the styles were similar to yours. Big hair and poofy dresses. I remember it being fun the first year and drama driven the second year. Half way through the second one, I wondered why I had gone. Booooo. I wonder if my daughter will go and what proms will be like 15 years from now. 🙂 I hope you get to see her all dolled up… even if it makes you cry.

allison - Went to an all girls Catholic HS…went to the prom (here in the east we call it “the prom”…not “prom”..noticed that on Parenthood too…they called it just “prom”)Anywho, went my Junior year on a blind date…OY! Well it was hard to meet boys when you go to an all girls school…he (I didn’t see it) looked like Frisco from GH…didn’t watch GH, didn’t care about Frisco, but lots of girls at my prom did, so he took lots of pics with them…lol!
Didn’t go to the Senior Prom…again the whole girls school thing is my excuse…my best friends had steadies and the idea of another fix-up..UGH.
It’s cool you have all those memories with your husband:) Wish I knew my husband back then, but he is 4 years older than me, so there probably would have been some laws broken…lol.

jennibell - You and Craig sure grew up a lot in two years! I, too, am lucky enough to have 2 prom pictures with my husband 🙂 We must be about the same age b/c the dress of one of your friends is almost exactly like mine except mine was blue (hers is white). I hope you see Lauren all decked out tonight…and she has good weather and a memorable night. Prom is so special! Thanks for giving me a chance to remember this today.

Jamie Skaates - This is hilarious. I love that you can laugh at yourself and your crazy outfits. I only say crazy because I’m only 20, and didn’t get to grow up wearing clothes like that! I never got to go to prom with my hubby, he was two years older and in the same high school but we never crossed paths till after we had graduated!

Kimberly - My proms were all OK. I always seem to go with guys I was dating but not really “digging”. I went all 4 years too. My Junior year I wore this black dress with a white collar that had a big white bow on the side. I thought my dress was awesome and I KNEW nobody in my class would have a dress like that because it was so different … and nobody did have a dress like that …. except my 4th period English teacher who was chaperoning. Not only a dress LIKE mine but the EXACT same dress as mine. I wanted to crawl under the table with the embossed champagne glass souvenirs and die.

Terrie - Oh Meg, I hope that you get to take some pics of her and her group today…your pics are amazing!! You were rockin’ it at your proms!! Praying she has a wonderful time & that you will get some rest tonight! Can’t wait to see a pic of her all dolled up! Have fun with the prep & primpin’ today!

Ruth H. - I love huge sleeves. The sleeves of my prom dress were as big as my head. I do not lie. I wore gloves to my junior prom, and they were spectacular. I wore them because I was not thrilled about my date, and gloves were my way to not have to touch him, technically. Very mature. But everyone else thought the gloves were fabulous, and I started a trend. After that, it was cool to wear gloves to formals at my high school.

Melissa - Those pictures are all awesome!!!!
I didn’t go to a prom. I went to my Christian school’s jr/sr banquets. I’m sure they weren’t as glamourous as a prom would’ve been….

Shannon Davis - I NEED to see Lauren and her date!! Anyway, I was wondering what dress she ended up with — saw the pics she put on fb about the dream dresses — hope you didn’t spend that much! Hunter goes to prom in May — first one as a senior — Lauren is lucky she got asked as a Sophmore. Morgan’s 8th grade formal is the 29th. She is taking pictures at the chimneys :)Morgan told him he can’t take pictures and he told her that if he can’t take pictures, she can’t go!!

sarah - ohhh prom… always a fun night. I went with a huuuuge group of friends both years and had a blast. Lauren did it right – going with friends is the best way to go!!

Wendy - Missed parenthood episode 🙁 but hopefully i can catch it on-demand. We only had a senior prom. I went will a boy i had known since kindergarten … known my whole life … mr. party guy. He married some fabulous red-head and has 3 lit’l girls … who r bugging me to make them breakfast :).

Kimberly Dial - Loved the pics & that you have such great memories. Sadly, I never went to prom (sniff, sniff). My parents would only allow me go to one (my Senior year) & my boyfriend (who is now the hubs) had to work :*( Both my sons went to theirs … both were oh so handsome & their dates were beautiful and I loved it! Thanks for sharing your memories! I sure hope you got to see your girl all dressed up! I can only imagine she was lovely!

Nichole - I’m loving your pictures. I loved my dress for prom, but it was the night I found out that my boyfriend of 2 years was having an emotional relationship with someone else and was planning to dump me on my graduation day from high school. Score! Not.
I’m totally loving the sequined dress. If I could find a party to go to, I’d totally want to wear something like that.

danielle - dyiinnnnnng over these pictures. my favorite is the one that was framed for three years. HOT. and how awesome that you went with the love of your life! i wish i could say the same…but my man was in CALI and i was NY. SO, i went to prom in 10th grade with my boy best friend friend who was in 11th. we had fun. i was secretly crushing on him but i wanted to make him happy so i got my hot friend to dance with him. 11th grade— i was so burnt from tanning/burning that my skin was blotchy and red. went with my friend trevor. not really fun at all. i cant believe the dress i wore. 12th grade. went with my friend frank, he was a football star. had a little bit to drink which resulted in a spillage on the front of my dress. and those are my prom stories. wish my man was around to have been my date too.

Heather R. - Went to prom with my hubby, too. Think teal taffeta, butt bow, and velvet top. NICE!!! He wore a tux with matching teal tie.
I know that Lauren will look beautiful. She has a beautiful Mom. 🙂

Tess S - i can’t handle parenthood. these cliffhangers are killing me!!!!
i think you looked pretty rockin in every photo. and also exactly the same as you do now.
hooray for old prom photo’s!

Cory - Words cannot even describe how awesome this post is…LOVE IT!
I did one similar not too long ago….
http://corymargrave.blogspot.com/2011/04/my-memory-monday.html

Amanda - I went to prom my sophomore year with a senior. Long pink dress. Had to use a step stool to get into his jacked up truck. It was fun…. dancing and lots of pictures. Yeah everyone had motel rooms too. {Parenthood the other night was so dead on.} Love all the pics of you and craiggers. I think it’s so cool you’ve been together since high school.

Pamela Gordon - Meg, I think you were (and still are) a beautiful girl! You look adorable in all your prom dresses – very stylish. It’s funny looking back at the styles and we wonder “what was I thinking?” but we were ‘hip’ at the time. I went to 2 proms with the same guy but didn’t actually go to my own final one. I wore a borrowed from my friend long pale pink swiss dot sleeveless to the first one and a long pale yellow to the second. I loved both dresses and had very short hair both times. That was so many moons ago now – late 60’s – when everything was groovy 😉 Thanks for sharing your pics and memories.

Jennavan.wordpress.com - Pretty sure I remember all of your prom dresses….Just a jealous 5th grader at the time. Or something.

Kara - hope your lauren has lots of fun! love this post… my husband and I were high school sweethearts and have several prom pictures together too… it’s kind of fun. slash embarrassing. 🙂 I guess part of the fun is thinking “what was I wearing??” when you look at the pictures later… right?!?

Julianne B - My son is going to prom next weekend…on Easter weekend who plans that….ugh. I went to prom my junior year with a bunch of friends (note all girls…except one of them had a boyfriend that went everywhere with us. He picked the restaurant that he said was so good…it was a truck stop….we were all mad then but now it seems funny to me. My boyfriend broke up with me 3 weeks before my senior prom. So I went with a friend’s brother from another town. Only went because I was on prom court and had to go. Ended up being prom queen which my kiddos and anyone that knows me now finds hilarious. Hope Lauren has a blast and thanks for sharing your pics.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - My Sr. Prom dress was almost identical to your blue number, only mine was red and full-length. AND…I wore red pantyhose with it. You heard me. Red.

Cari - Oh my goodness! These pictures are amazing! The one of you and Craig kissing? Adorable!! I went to prom 3 years. Great memories, but, man, was I skinny! At the time I thought I was huge. But to be able to fit in those dresses again… 😉 I really hope you see Lauren tonight. It made me sad reading your low expectations. 🙁 Go ahead and have yourself a good cry at how old your baby is. And then maybe get dressed up and you and craig can reenact prom in your living room. Ha! 🙂

Heather - Yup, I went to Prom. I thought it was lame and didn’t live up to all the hype. Plus, it started POURING RAIN minutes before we pulled up to the event venue. My dyed-to-match shoes did not fair well in the rain! Gah!

Sarah - Love all the pics! It’s so funny how much the dresses have changed! Mine had huge sleeves as well and ruffles and sequins!
My son is going to Prom in 2 weeks, we are going to rent his tux today! Time sure flies! Don’t Blink!

Alise M. - Prom was two weeks ago for me! It was my first prom (mom wouldn’t let me go as a soph or frosh) and I had a blast. I went with one of my really good friends. We went to preschool together two. We took the town trolley with like 14 other kids and had a blast. Then we went to after prom where I won $15 and a $100 Buckle gift card..score!!
Hope Lauren has fun!

Mindy Harris - you and craig are the cutest of all time. i’m a fan of highschool sweethearts though i wouldn’t advocate it now. ha. shawn and i met at the age of 15. we went to a Christian school that didn’t have prom, SO, we went to PROM ALTERNATIVE twice, which was a trip from our small KS town to Wichita to go to a Christian concert/dinner at the Cotillion, Joyland, and ice skating. Til like 1a.m. Then the car ride home where we could hold hands in the van.
I wore a pink feathered boa to one.
I felt like a princess.
I was with the man-boy that I cared about most. Still do.

Tara - I went to prom every single year.
so many great memories…..
so glad you married your high school sweetheart…
and so glad that I did not. 🙂

Lia - I almost started crying when i saw the picture of you and craig at prom. Maybe it is because my (brand new!) husband and i are high school sweet hearts and went to prom together and now we are gonna be married for like a bazillion years and we are gonna look back at the pictures and be like “aw how funny is my dress and aw how cute were we”? AHHH high school sweet hearts and marriage is fun!

Liana - Great post as usual. I hope you get to see Lauren all dolled up…or at least conspire with another mom to get pics!
Totally thought of you when I saw Parenrhood last week, too. How awkward and well acted was the pocket dial? I’ve been waiting for you to mention it since I know you love the show!

Chaos-Jamie - The dress was from Roxi, too, and those slammin’ shoes? EtCetera. You forgot to mention that we went in my beater car. Too much fun. I was just thinking the other day that I wished I had a photo from that prom. I’ll have to get a copy from you one of these days.

Lori - Meg, your pictures are AWESOME! I went to prom junior year with a guy I had a crush on…typical high school, my best friend told his brother to have him ask me! ha. And I wore a long white eyelet dress… Senior year I went with my junior boyfriend and it was so romantic and wild at the same time, and I wore a long shiny pink satin dress that I borrowed. (I hadn’t met my future husband yet until college and he grew up 2 hours away from me).
My daughter did not go to prom at all (jr year just broke up with boyfriend and senior year had just gotten wisdom teeth out and was still puffy). It makes me sad that she didn’t get to go. So when you feel sad that your daughter is getting older, just remember that at least she is going to prom!!

Lisa Currie-Gurney - MEG… THE PHOTO OF YOU KISSING YOUR BF… PRECIOUS.
I WATCHED THAT EPISODE OF PARENTHOOD, (ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS BY THE WAY), YESTERDAY ONLINE, AND LOVED IT AS USUAL. I LEARN SO MUCH FROM THAT SHOW. THE WRITERS ARE RIGHT ON.
ENJOYED THIS TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE WITH YOU.
HOPE YOU GET A MOMENT WITH YOUR DAUGHTER TODAY. 😉
HUGS FROM MY HEART

Jessi - Reowr!

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - I think someone should start an entirely new blog dedicated to prom and its fashions! Wouldnt we all get a good laugh? Loved your comments on everything and all I can say to that junior year prom pic(with the heels from the theatre dept) is…WOW:)
Loved the peek into your high school years. Thanks for sharing. Oh and PS..I LOVE how you documented Lauren’s outfit. Hoping you got more of a peek of your girl…for your sake.
xo,
Sarah

happygirl - I went to prom my junior year, but my boyfriend dumped me just before senior prom and I didn’t go. I still hate him for that. lol btw, LOVE Napoleon Dynamite quotes. LOVE!!!

Southern Gal - I only went to one with a date, my future hubby. The last one was my junior year (I graduated early, hence my last) and I went after work in my waitress attire because I had worked too hard on the darn thing not to attend. Future hubby had graduated and was at boot camp that year. Bummer.
Those platform shoes? Wow. Just wow.

Sandy - Forgot to say – I REALLY hope we get to see pictures of Lauren all dolled up. She’s such a beautiful girl naturally and I’m sure she looked amazing!!

Sandy - I went to my jr & sr and to my boyfriend’s jr & sr proms…always with him…my first love (truly). I have to say the picture of you & Craig kissing brought tears to my eyes. It also brought back memories of the pictures I had of Ryan & I in my teenage bedroom. He was a year older than me and when he left for college we broke up. I was devastated for years. We still have lunch once every couple years and e-mail on each other’s birthdays. Loved going back in time with you. Oh, and I had (big!) bows & satin gloves at my wedding (1987…maybe the same year as your prom??).

Shannon - For some reason I just love seeing pictures of you and Craig in the “early years”. I love your love story. Non -traditional and super amazing! What fun memories!

Sophie - I live in England so proms work a little different here. Not every school has one, and when you do, it’s just for a single grade and not the whole school. It’s not usually at the school, it’s somewhere different. And if you do have one, you have one at the equivalent of the end of your sophomore year and/or one at the end of your senior year.
I go to an all girl’s school so at our sophomore year prom, we were just allowed to bring anyone we wanted, as a group of friends and not particular dates. I wouldn’t have been able to get myself a date anyway so that was good for me.
I wore a 50’s style swing dress in purple satin. It was GORGEOUS and I felt like a princess!
It was at a huge events room in a local place. We had a bar and a deck and it was awesome.
The only problem was that some of the boys who people had brought had been drinking before they arrived, and then they ended up getting into a huge fight over a girl.
Bottles and chair were thrown. One girl got hit in the head with a chair and passed out with blood all over her head. The chairs smashed in a solid oak door, which we had to pay for.
Eight police cars, four ambulances and two riot vans later, we were all thrown out at 10:30.
Prom take 2, our senior year, is coming up at the beginning of July. Hopefully this one will go a little better!
I’m going with my friends in a group, pah, who needs boys?
I’m wearing a similar style dress to my last one. It’s pink with darker polka dots on it (the polka dots made me think you’d like it, Meg!)
We’re having it at a castle this time! It’s called Leeds Castle and it’s like… 800 years old.
So I hope we don’t break anything this time around.
I hope Lauren has an AMAZING time! I bet she’ll look stunning!

Ann Marie - I love the pictures of you and Craig! So sweet!!
Like you I went all 4 years of high school. Sophmore year was the best. My brother (and best friend) had just broken up with his girlfriend so I was the fill in date. Best time I ever had!

georgia - Awww love the photos!!
You should frame ur photo of you and craig kissing, its so romantic!!!
Proms are getting more popular here in the UK, mine was nearly 8 years ago in the school hall… I had a lovely purple dress. Where as my sisters is next month, there proms in a posh hotel with a meal, dance etc much better than mine lol

lovethosecupcakes - No proms here in the days when I was at school though they’ve now caught on and both my kids went to theirs but only one each, at age 16, when they left secondary school. How come you got to go to so many? Hope we get to see your gorgeous girlie in her finery.

shelley - awe…i cried when my son first went to prom..picture on side bar of my blog of him in tux. i didn’t get to even meet the girl…barely saw pics..ugh. anyway…i love the dress you wore that you borrowed from roxy’s mom !! kinda hippyish..which is totally me !

LouBoo - Hi – awww this is so sweet – I love the look back in time. I think we are about the same age so the dresses look familiar to me. Gotta love the 80’s! So cool too that you and Craig are childhood sweethearts…love the prom pictures. Here in the UK we didn’t do proms and I was always lobbying the school to do one just like in America!! haha – of course now we have caught on and I see proms happening round town at the end of the school year and still feel a tinge of envy even though my time has well and truly passed for such things!! Lou x

giozi - Well I went to my prom with a friend of my best friend :). I didn’t like him, but he danced like Chayanne. I danced like a spin toy until fell died :D. It was a wonderful night.

se7en - oh how sweet is that!!! You have known your man forever!!! I only met mine when I was twenty six… but I wish I had known him sooner… on second thoughts we would have got married a whole lot sooner and had about twenty kids instead of just a our measly eight!!!

mary - Oh I love the platform sandals the most!
I went to 6 proms in 4 years. Two were great and the others involved awkwardness with boys so they were less awesome.
Does anyone know of girls who would want once used prom dresses from just a couple years ago? I would love for someone to get some use out of them!

emily - oh man … dying over those dresses. I think we went to prom in the same set of years …

Ali Richardson - Those pics are GREAT!!!! Classic!! I went to 3 out of 4 proms (I was too dorky to be asked by an upper classman when I was a Freshmen 🙂

Jenny B. - Fun pictures! My proms were OK. Sophomores weren’t allowed to go unless they were “escorted” by a junior or senior. My sophomore year, I broke up with my senior boyfriend before prom, but I already had the dress… so I begged all my guy friends to take me. One finally agreed, but it wasn’t really worth all the trouble. Junior year was the best. My best friend was a guy who lived an hour away, so we went to both of our proms together. I won $200 in an art contest, and blew it all on a great dress. Good times. Senior year was pretty fun, too. I was dating a sophomore guy at the time, and I remember going out to eat and some adults laughing at us in our matching outfits. We were cute! Anyway… my proms were all pretty tame. No crazy stuff, just dancing and fun.

Julie - this is fantastic!
thanks for sharing!

Keri ~ Forever Folding Laundry - I’m laughing at the electric blue heels…
because I once wore the same ones.
Did you have yours dyed to match your dress like I did?
Remember when that was the thing to do?
So funny.
I’m sure Lauren will be gorg.
Love her dress color.

Heather @ Cookie Mondays - i was just gonna say, was last week’s parenthood KILLING you knowing lauren was on her way? i’m in love with her earrings!

hannah - these photos are rockin’ my socks;) what a treat to have them AND the rad memories.
your daughter will have a blast-and her outfit looks like a beauty.
xo

stephany - I went to prom my senior and junior year, but never made it into the dance. My junior year my on again off again boyfriend and I were fighting and found that more important than attending the dance.
Senior year we were late and only had time for the one in our group who was part of the royalty party to get out of the limo and run into the dance.
What happened on Parenthood did not happen at either one of my Proms even though we got hotel rooms and stayed out all night…it was just a big party!

Rebekah Brummel - I loved prom. . . . so much. . . maybe to much. . . and love Parenthood too. . . who is that DJ in Chicago that puts on a big prom party for adults?

Shaina Brown - 2 proms for me, one dress was full length sequins a la miss america and the other was velvet and taffeta! and to think i thought i looked REALLY good – hahaha!
i did watch Parenthood – my fav show by far. however my proms were not that exciting. same date both years made it home before curfew both years. i can only hope that my little guy is as low key as i was in high school so i won’t have to worry. yeah right!

Lisa - Your commentary on the pictures is hilarious! And your dresses were so different every year. Hope Lauren has fun! I didn’t ever go to my prom. My senior year my boyfriend at the time was a big baseball player and had a state finals the next morning so he was concentrated on that. I still don’t really care that I missed it, funny enough. 🙂

april - um i never went….no one asked me and I was too shy to go by myself…stupid huh? Hahahaha
hey meg….u asked… ;0)

you have to dress for success right?

i am 10 days in with jillian.
i really don't even want to look at her!

"i have weak shoulders and abs!  i get it jillian!  why must you make me feel so bad about it?"

she gets me all ticked off….week 2 blows….and she makes biting sounds.  eewww.
i mute her.
and listen to my itunes.
yesterday my pottery barn jazz cd (circa 2001)came on so i was doing crunches to ella fitzgerald.
it cracked me up.

but i have had several people tell me this week that i look skinny.
i say "it's my hair cut"  and i do think that is truly what it is….but it could be 5% jillian too.

and i ditched the meal plan.

the workout is hard enough for now.

crystal beutler - I fell in love with Adam Braverman when he was on Sports News . . . or whatever that show was called. So cute. 🙂

Amy - I’m in week one of Jillian. I didn’t even ATTEMPT the meal plan. I would starve. haha I feel like doing the workout and modifying what I already eat is good enough.

Heather Crawford - Well, I’m gonna comment but Dude, you are WAY too famous for me…however, I have been watching Parenthood since it started..and I am a Christian parent and I have to say, this last episode moved me…dude, what to say, what to do, etc etc..made me dread the teen years!and I HOPE that pregnancy test is her Mom’s and NOT hers!!!

jennyonthespot - I love you. I just do.

Heather - Oh my gosh!!! Best laugh all day, Laura Phelps!!! I told a friend that I can’t get good form while doing the shred because I’m too focused on watching intently for the moment when Jillians penis falls out the side of her shorts. 😛 She is beautiful but the macho is just so…macho. Blech.

Heather - I CAN’T STAND JILLIAN!!!! I’m sure in person she’s quite lovely, but I have the 3O day Shred and she drives me mad. I hate the macho act. I mute her to….when I do it. I fell off a wagon a while ago and I can’t get back on cause the wagon clear left town. 😛
Ummm, is that TV in your bathroom? Heaven.

Toni :O) - Parenthood is AWESOME! I’m in love with Joel…he’s SO adorable! I will say what Adam and his wife (her name stupidly escapes me at the moment!) are going through totally scares me! I will HATE having those conversations with my kids but I know they are absolutely necessary in this day and age. Parenting is the toughest job in the world, truly it is! Loved all the colors, your toes are so cute and Waffle is looking much better since his hair is growing back in…good job on the shave down! Oh, yeah, and I really need to get back into exercising but these blogs I keep reading keep pulling me away from that! Bad blogs! LOL!

Sugar Mama - I start week 2 with Jillian today… and I am scared! I’m not doing the meal plan either. Just trying to watch my portions. Biting sounds? That sounds annoying. I don’t like the growling face she makes. Or that she enunciates her “p”‘s so crisp… drives me crazy!
And I couldn’t get up to do the regular push ups in Week One. I kind of felt like a failure. I also couldn’t do all of the lunges with weights. Maybe I should just stick with week 1 for a while longer???

deborah@applesinwonderland - i was at a weight plateau. now i’m gaining again. crappy craptastic. so, i’m willing to go to drastic measures. who does your hair? will your haircut, trim say….20 pounds? that’s what i’m hoping for. i see that adam “commented”–it’s good to have options, that’s all i’m sayin’. 🙂

Lindsay Kellar - Totally LOVE Parenthood! Excited for the finale, but sad the new episodes will be over for a while. Way to go for sticking with Jillian!!

kristin - ha. we did the jillian thing this past winter. i know exactly what you means. and yes. week 2 is bad.

Jen - Oh my GOSH, the second week is KILLING ME. I think I’ll have to do it for two weeks to graduate to week 3. I wish I had a buddy to do it with because I’ve stopped 3/4 of the way through two days in a row. At least I’m trying. RIGHT??!!

Shox r4 - Nobody can go back and start a new begining, but anyone can start now and make a new ending.

leslie @ topofthepage - you will have a very nice and stable life with sweet adam. i have a love/hate pretend relationship with Crosby. He reminds me of my husband in our early years, cute and sorta clueless. They have the same hair too. and omg i’m so laughing at the friend who posted the comments above AS adam and jillian. that cracked me up.

Richelle - Meg – Good job. Keep it up! I too love Adam! I love the whole show and can’t get through one episode without bawling like a baby!! Last night especially!!

Erin Leigh - I wake up on Tuesday mornings and get so excited to see this show. pathetic. keep at it! my jillian is sitting in in the box. she’ll have to wait for post pregnancy body!

Kat - Love Parenthood and I love Adam’s character, because he is just a great character.
That cream looks wicked and makes me laugh, because as always you are keeping it real, so good on you Meg!
Keep up the good work with the exercise and post a before and after pic when you are done.

Nicole - Congrats on your 10th day of the Shred!
I am so not looking forward to reaching that next level. I am so tired of her face and it’s only been 4 days for me.

Julia - My doctor just told me to only work on one change at a time. Give yourself three weeks and then change something else. So don’t sweat the food bit now.
Be careful taking your camera in the bath. Every time I take my camera in the ocean I think “this is an accident waiting to happen.”

casey - this was fun:) I enjoyed your shots of your day!

Stacy - You inspired me to buy the Jillian workout! I am on day 7! Thank you!!! BTW I am not doing the meal plan either. “My plan” is to do the exercises for 30 days then go back and do 30 days again with the Bad A** version and the meal plan!

jeanne - hahaha….I was laughing the whole time. I can just hear you talking. So funny! Jillian is annoying and I mute her too.

Flower Patch Farmgirl - Lu-hu-Huv Honeybomb. Ooops, I meant Honeycomb, but Honeybomb might actually be more appropriate.

Tonya - OMG…I LOVE Parenthood! After last night’s episode, my hubby said he’s never watching again b/c he doesn’t want to think about what may (but prayerfully, may not) be in our future w/our kids.
I’ve kicked Jillian out of my life for this present season! I’ve got too much going on w/school and life and I don’t need her to make me feel gulity when I crumble to the floor in a limp, sweaty mess 1/2 way through one of her workouts! 😉
You’ve gotta tell me where your nail polish comes from! My 11-next-Tuesday year old is a nail polish freak and I love finding her new colors w/fun names.

karen - have you tired PX90..or something like that?? It’s crazy!!
So does that Stress Relief stuff really work??

Maureen - Agree with you about Adam, but have to say that lately I am digging Joel, he is so sweet to Julia. And how tragic is it that we all act like they are real people…Laura Phelps who I only know thru her blog made me laugh above at her post!!

ingrid - this post made me smile….
happy wednesday!

meredith - Everyone in my family uses whipped cream in coffee anytime it’s in the fridge… regardless of if there is half and half in there, too! This is why I cannot keep whipped cream in my fridge. 🙂

jeannett - basically, i hate jillian. i realize that’s harsh but her workouts are harsh!!!
i love adam braverman too. maybe we can be sister wives.

Christy - So glad to know others enjoy the Bravermans and Parenthood as much as me!!! I feel like I’m the only one who watches it sometimes.

Nicole M - Hey Meg,
Im doing the 30 day Shred and actually just started it yesterday. It kicked my booty. It was difficult but then again it seems manageable because it is only 20 minutes. Today I am hurting. ouch. Somehow i have to stay motivated…these post baby pounds will not just fall off!

Courtney Walsh - did you see Parenthood last night? I cried and laughed and cried some more. oh my heck. it was so so so good. I am in love with all of them! seriously!
i almost wish i hadn’t deleted it after i watched it. such great writing. 🙂
and whipped cream in your coffee? Heaven.

se7en - Love the toes… and who needs a workout if they can still reach their toes long enough to paint them!!! I go for your morning coffee with cream – wish my hubs would put whipped cream on the shopping list instead of regular!!! Seriously!!!

Kirsten J - I can’t do Jillian – she doesn’t smile, she grimaces. Really. I’m a Kathy Smith girl. And Adam? He’s okay….I like Joel better….and fast forward 30 years and….Mr Incredible does have a great presence. Just sayin’

Terrie - You are letting your Honeycombs get soggy!!!!! Don’t you just LOVE Parenthood?!! One of my favs…I watched it this morning. Wish I could have watched it while in my tub! 🙂
PS My Whatever print is hanging nicely in my new craft room! Thank YOU!!

FeFe - Ugh! Did you cry through Parenthood? I was teary through most of it. I think I’m too attached to the Braverman’s!

Sharri - You crack me up!

Marie - yeah Jillian gets a little creepy with the biting of butts in week 2, I just started week 3 and she’s just a tad better, not much but a tad and oh the workout gets harder yet but it feels so good to start to feel some muscles coming out of hibernation 🙂 Keep in up, you can do it!

Staci - I soooooooooooooooo need to get back to exercising!!! WHY OH WHY do I ever get off that train?? It’s sooooooo hard to get back on 🙁 UgggghhH!!! You would think I’d learn 🙁 We just bought a rowing machine…supposed to be awesome…we’ll see 🙁 I wanna look hot…but don’t wanna workout to get the look…I’m such a loser ;( Jillian would so make me cry 🙁

Valerie @ Chateau A La Mode - Never watched Parenthood…I think I would find it too sad! I don’t like to cry watching TV. Jillian is still on my radar…I really need to exercise, but I don’t want to.

Megan McGhee - I LOVE parenthood! Such an awesome show.. And so true to real life.. Adam is my fave too 🙂

Kameron - I big puffy heart Parenthood! I am also being tortured by Jillian. She is annoying and always looks mad. I am so sore after every workout. I have lost 3 pounds and am starting to fit back into some of my pre-baby-baby jeans though. 🙂

kathy - Last night’s episode of Parenthood hit me too. But I think I took it too seriously. I dont want my 15 year old daughter having sex and I dont want to feel like I’ve lost me teens. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the siblings all mesh and that they are honest with Crosby about being a lamo (but that he shows up for school plays and max’s soccer) but Im a little sad that the aprents arent there. I want to be invovled in that when my kids are adults. Is mothering selfless FOREVER??

happygirl - I LOVE your toes. I LOVE your pics, even the pic of the TV. Sorry, so not a Braverman fan. I like my men a little less emotional. I guess ’cause I’m not very emotional. But, LOVE whipped cream on ANYTHING.

JILLIAN - I am sorry I am so annoying Meg.
And that you hate my meal plan.
But whipped cream? really?
Don’t phone this one in, Duerksen…you can do it…
don’t give up
You have to want it BAD
now get off of the computer and start working out
I am waiting for you…

Adam Braverman - I love you, too Meg.
Ditch Craig and marry me.
Will you make me rainbow cake?
Yours forever…
xoxoxox

sarah - I am doing Ripped and boy howdy does she kick my booty. The other day I got tired of her chomping and growling on week 2 that I also turned the sound off… shes a tad obnoxious eh?!

LAURA PHELPS - um…after the whipped cream in coffee picture I think we kinda figured on our own that you ditched the meal plan!
Jillian works. Keep going. She changed my body in 6 weeks.
I now have a penis. Strange.
just kidding.
but she is manly, don’t ya think?
did you cry your eyes out last night with Parenthood?
can I name drop?
I met Monica Potter (Adam’s wife)..she is my friends good friend.
She asked about my cakes after eating a piece of a cake I made.
She loved me.
HA
I am such a name dropping loser….
It’s the LA in me…sorry

www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=AItOawkgwaE4QrBwr9C2DjUjOysR_Mvj-NL_T9s - jillian is so not beast. but then, she kinda is.
it’s a love-hate thing, for sure! i could only do the 30 day shred for 20 days… and after a couple of days of week 2, i had to go back to week 1. i say it’s because i didn’t want to drop my newborn with those insanely sore arms she gave me.

jeana - I love Parenthood…but I have to say I’ll leave Adam all for you! 😉 But I LOVE everyone in the show. I did 3-4 days of 30 day shred, felt wonderful, got a horrible head cold that I still have, but am jumping back in today. GOOD job!

Stefanie Arnold - I love Parenthood!! Can you get over last night’s episode. I was yelling at the TV (the kids in the tv) the whole time. My husband kept saying “you know those are scripted people, right?”
I get very into my Tv 🙂

Christy - I love, LOVE, LOVE Parenthood! Great TV.
I admire you for lasting so long, I have the 30 day shred & don’t think I made it through the whole DVD. Good for you!

Amanda - Adam Braverman, Don Draper… I hear ya! Love their characters. and who am I kidding I think their both so hot.

Jessica Johnson - i suspect muting jillian is the only way to tolerate jillian. LOVE the toe color. also love your bathroom tile. it reminds me of honeycomb 😉

Amanda - lol-i was wondering if honeycombs was on her mealplan 😉

Cutzi - Ok… I wanted to post this the first time you wrote about Jillian and wanting to get in shape but I didn’t. I said to myself, “Cutzi, not everyone has to know what you think..” but this has given me so much freedom and I think you will appreciate it so I’m going to share.
Here’s my honest opinion: Ditch Jillian (at least for now) and read this book. Since my husband and I started eating this way almost a year ago it has changed our lives and set me free from the seemingly never-ending cycle of trying to lose weight. Truly, now I can exercise because I enjoy it or because it makes me feel good or because it makes me stronger. I can be lean (lose weight) by changing WHAT I eat. Not how much, not how many calories, not how many points, not how often etc. It’s such a relief. Exercising more will only make you hungrier and make you want to eat more and can cause so much frustration. Seriously, order the book… you’ll be so glad.

amy - Thanks to you I love Adam Braverman too 🙂 Parenthood rocks! I am about to watch the Thanksgiving episode right now while the kids are at school yeah me!

Lynn - I’ve been doing the Shred as well! I’ve always heard good things about it and wanted to try it and when I saw that you were doing it for the month of April I thought I would too! I’ve been doing it with my mom, we started April 4th and do it every weeknight (she wanted to skip the weekends since she’s not used to exercising lol) so we’re on day 8 tonight… we love it!

shelly - Oh my goodness—last night’s parenthood about killed me on so many levels!
Speaking of being killed, ugh jillian–I pretend punch her tv face while doing the boxing routines 😉 oh well, whatever it takes to get through!

Necole - I just blew the dust off of my 5 mile walking video. I

Wendy - I am in love with don draper.

1 Funky Woman - I totally do the whip if no cream. Love your toes I need a pedicure! Just joined Weight Watchers so no more cream in my coffee! Such is life! Keep going with Jillian but I too would mute her!
Megan

Penny - Love the coffee with whipped cream shot. I don’t drink coffee but I might start if I had it that way! I absolutely love Parenthood, great show. I can’t say I am attracted to Adam though, he looks just like my cousin. So can’t look at him that way. I always get sad when the show is almost over. Why can’t they just do a two hour every week!

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - That tub looks so wonderful(& I love the tile somethin fierce!)and purple toes? I knew I loved you:)
XO,
Sarah

Kacey - Oh, yes. Adam Braverman. Love, love, LOVE him.
I think it’s awesome that you are keeping up with Jillian! I’m sure you are looking skinny – it is a tough workout! I made it 3 weeks last year and gave up because it was kicking my butt and I seriously noticed no results. I’m a wimp. 🙂

amy - We just bought that “rockstar pink” at Target the other day 🙂

Kim - Rockstar Pink. Totally my kind of color! Looks fab on your toesies!

Anne @ Baking Me - I like the Honeycomb cereal and the tile 🙂

Holly - I wish we had some Honeycomb right about now. Yum!
Isn’t Parenthood the best?!! (I mean the TV show and the real gig.) When Adam picked up Haddie from soccer and finally talked to her I got all choked up.
Jillian’s workouts are good but I can’t take her attitude. Why so angry Jillian?
Way to go though!!

Jenny Lynn - Such a fun post.
And I LOVE Parenthood!
And I have a love-hate relationship with Jillian too 🙂

lauren - Ummm seriously Parenthood is the greatest show on TV!!!

Shannon - The coffee with whip cream looks delicious!

Alisha - LOL! My husband thinks Adam is the “jerkiest” one of the bunch. I LOVE SARAH!!! I love how imperfectly perfect she is as a mother.
I think whipped cream sounds totally legit with coffee. Way to think outside the box!

brooke - You Go Girl!!! Whoa…that was SO 1986! 🙂
So….I love your tile in bathroom…did you remodel it yourself? I love love to see glimpses of your home. I like in College Hill in Wichita and am also a lover of old homes…you give me lots of inspiration 🙂
Also…..i want to see your new haircut!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heidi - I’ve been alternating Jillian with Shaun T. While I love Shaun T., Jillian’s workouts literally leave me on the floor. And they aren’t as long.
Why do we punish ourselves this way? 🙂

tara pollard pakosta - Jillian kicks butt, literally!
I got bored after day 2 of listening to it.
I skipped the cardio parts sometimes because I got winded, but
then I do 45-60 minutes of cardio on my own so I thought that was okay….goodness I quit after day 2! HAAA~!
but I want to maybe try to do it 3-4x per week, not 30 days in a row it’s just too hard. I am way too out of shape!
so glad you are sticking with it! GO MEG!
tara

Leah - There’s nothing better than a little whipped cream with coffee. Makes if feel like you’re at Starbucks but didn’t spend $5 on coffee. And I’m two episodes behind on Parenthood. UGH!

Amy @ dwell in the season - Bahaha! I love that you put whipped cream in your coffee… I would have done the EXACT same thing. Maybe even if I had 1/2 and 1/2. All the better! And I also adore Parenthood, so much so that Adam Braverman was in my dream the other night. Should I say hi for you next time I see him in my dreams?
Love your blog!
-Amy

Juli - Love you, Meg. You are so real. I would’ve given up the meal plan AND the workout by now. You go girl.

Elizabeth - I thought Adam Braverman was especially endearing last night. I watched the episode with my husband and I think he really related to him (and my husband is not at all tightly wound. That would be me).

Holly - ok you are doing way better with Jillian than I am! I just must not be committed enough yet.

georgia - I think exercise is enough to make a dramatic change, did u take measurements and before photos?

Steph at Modern Parents Messy Kids - Hooray – good for your! Can I work out vicariously through you for now?
Uh, and Adam Braverman – really? He’s so tightly wound! I much prefer the sexy carpenter/stay-at-home dad. Yum 🙂

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - Like the sparkly nail polish!
Gemma x

Sharla - Sorry Meg, Adam is all mine 🙂 Good job on the workout plan – I’m sure you DO look skinny!

questions.

two things:

1.  i love jenny on the spot and her vlogs.
i met her at the Coca-cola social media event in atlanta and wished we'd had a few more days together.
she is EXACTLY like her vlogs.
that is her through and through.
when you watch that video you are seeing HER.

so……i would like to copy her.
and vlog.

but really….what would i say???

i talk and talk and talk but when it comes to this….i am blank.

what do you want to hear come out of my mouth?
besides my dorky voice.

should i have a friend?

should i be with waffle?

should i show you my new mom swim dress……ha ha ha!!!!

only the special people that frequent the public pool in our town get that lovely treat.
and only for two second before i quickly drop my towel and jump-in-the-water-before-anyone-saw-me.
and also there was one time a kirby vaccuum salesman came around to my backyard while i was in my suit on a lawn chair thinking he'd get my business by coming in my yard with me barely dressed with my children all around.
yeah….he did not.

tell me.

tell me what to do.

cause you have the best ideas.

update:  it took 61 comments for someone to notice that i said i had two things to share…..
and only shared one.
ha!
i was sleepy when i wrote it.

and also….not to worry.
IF i do a vlog it will be once in a blue moon.
they take WORK.
thanks for the suggestions…

so….WHAT ARE YOUR QUESTIONS for me to ANSWER???

Terrie - I just had a flash of you sitting on a couch…(of course it would be a gorgeous antique find that you had reupholstered in a rainbow floral fabric…or maybe stripes or polka dots) and there would be lovely throw pillows with white pom-pom trim… in a basement with paneling and you had painted over the boring brown and adorned it with colorful rainbow stripes…and your husband was playing a guitar and your kids were singing “meg’s world, meg’s VLOG, mom’s world, excellent…you get the picture! (And yes, I just had to go to you tube and watch some ExCeLleNt videos of SNL Wayne’s World clips!! I’m such a dork!!)

Ashley - I want to know what your favorite daily products are! Such as for your makeup, hair, body! Everything!

liz - hi meg, i absolutely love love love love love your blog. i am a “newcomer” and i actually started reading it from the wayyyy beginning! i was almost sad when i was caught up, because i love reading it so much 😉 i agree with some of the others…i’m not sure about the whole “vlog-ing” thing? it could be the whole “mystery” thing, i don’t know? but, if you did, i liked the suggestion above – if your kids interviewed you i think that would be hilarious.

crystal beutler - If you start vlogging, can I come and be your Ed McMahon? We could have a few minutes of witty banter before you launch into your post. 🙂
So glad you got away with the hub for the weekend. Those are always so much fun. Matt and I always end up saying “I forgot how much I like hanging out with you!”

Amber - Hi Meg!
Are you on twitter? x
@ambermelody

Terrie - Okay silly girl…you still didn’t tell us what #2 was! I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep!! LOL!!!
PS – I got my ‘whatever’ print yesterday…and today I got the frame and tomorrow…my husband will hang it in my newly redone craft room where it will inspire me! It’s the little things that make me happy! 🙂

Shairee - You could vlog HOW you get all those things in the HAPPY THINGS list!! A craft thursday!! How to Tackle a laundry pile because yours sure do get big sometimes!! You could vlog your sewing projects!! rainbow sweatshirts, happy pillows – just don’t burp 🙂 Anything else you do would be great! Annie reading was totally adorable!
I KNOW!!!
You should have your oldest with you so she feels special! Wait, would she? No, I guess not. You could vlog something SHE loves…maybe?
Anyway good luck!! Super exciting!!

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - I don’t care what you vlog…just do it…I’d watch cuz you’re so darn cute!

merran tatum - i think you could do exactly the same thing you do in every post, just spoken and recorded. i love your blog b/c it’s just you and your thoughts and a glimpse into your daily life, and for me it’s like spending a few minutes with my good friend meg every day. i think it should just be you and your coffee, sitting on the couch or in your kitchen or in your craft room, and talking to us for a few minutes…maybe about what you are working on in your craft room, what you are reading this week, you and the kids working on a thursday craft, you throwing together a yummy easy dinner, or maybe taking us on a tour of your favorite spots in your house (i LOVE your house and would love to see more!). don’t stress too much over it and don’t script it. just be you and we all will love it!

Katy - I agree.. A day in the life of Meg! That would be so fun!

Janelle - I would love to see what your average daily schedule is like. With four kids and a new puppy I am going a little crazy and would love to know how you do it…or maybe know how you don’t do it so I feel a little better 🙂

teresa - Am I missing where I can subscribe to WHATEVER?
I would love to have YOU delivered to my email each day!
xo

teresa - Hi Meg~
My name is Teresa!
You don’t know me…but every now and again…for several years or so…I pop over into your FUN world!
The other day I popped in and read in AWE about the CRAFTy weekend you hosted at your FUN house!
What a GIFT you are.
I know this…and yet I don’t even really know you.
I too like to watch Jenny’s vlogs.
She lives not too far from me…way up here in the Northwest.
I watch Jenny and think how natural she is!
I mean the other day…she created a VLOG in her car…for crying out loud.
As far as vlogs…I have posted several on my own blog.
My readers seem to LOVE my vlogs.
Crazy thing is…I never have anything planned to say.
And they LOVE it!
They say it makes them feel like I’m right there…in their kitchen with them.
My sister told me she thought my vlogs were boring and long.
Sisters can be brutal like that! ;o)
But my readers seem to LOVE them.
So I say…just be you!
Most of the time…I don’t even wear any make~up.
Just talk to your readers as if you would a good girl~friend!
Once my sister told me I needed to stop saying the word “SO” so much.
I went back and re~watched the VLOG and I said “SO” like 20 times! Ah….haha!
Any~hoo…I trust my readers and know that they won’t be counting the times I say “SO.”
They don’t care if I have anything OFFICIAL and PROFESSIONAL and PROFOUND to say.
They just want to visit.
And don’t you just LOVE that about blogging friends.
I hope you SHARE a vlog with your readers.
I just KNOW they will LOVE it!
They will surely SMILE the entire way through it…I’m certain of it!
Happy Day Meg!
I love your style!
You are precious.
Oh…one more thing about vlogging.
Today I popped on someones blog I didn’t know.
A tweet led me to this blog.
I happened upon a vlog.
I clicked on it.
And guess what happened.
She was up early…no make~up…no kids…just her.
She had been listening to hymns…on a record.
She began to read the words from my very favorite hymn…The Old Rugged Cross.
How precious.
How sweet is that.
I teared up…I was so touched.
I didn’t even know her.
But now I do.
Hearing her read those words connected me to her so much more than if they had been written.
Go for it Meg~
Your readers will LOVE it!
xo

Josie - I love your entries when you give a shot at the real life – laundry to do, rooms to pick up, dishes to do. It makes me smile. I think a video of it would be funny since you you are so creative!

Kristin S - What is #2??
I love your blog just the way it is. I love that you surprise us with completely random posts. I love when you share your kids’ crafting days (I only wish I had an ounce of their creativity). I love that you are real and normal!

Jess - Okay so I love vlogs, and love your blog. But I do not want your blog to turn into an every post is a vlog. I can’t always view your blog on my home pc, mostly at work. And I cannot watch vlogs at work 🙁 Silly flash rules 😉 So sure, once in a while, but not an every post kind of thing.
I used to read Ross’s blog from Jay Leno, love him, all the time, but he went to vlogging and I just lost interest. Maybe its the mystery? Either way, you’ll do what you think is the best thing.

Suzette - The Mom swim dress! Hilarious!

karen - ahhh yah you should be with waffle!!
For real Meg…just vlog exactly what you blog about…don’t think about it too much…you are loved because you are you! 🙂

Rachel - Do vlogs! When in doubt, answer peoples questions, or make up questions and say someone asked them. No one will know.

Tracy Fisher - I thought you meant tell me what to do about the swimsuit…hahah… because I was going to read the answers… I am going to CA in less than 3 weeks and have to get into one myself…yikes!!! … and go to a waterpark… yikes!!..
Tracy

Chantelle - I A-DORE Jenny too and was just thinking the same thing!!! Problem is that I’m not naturally A-DORABLE like you and Jenny… Hmm. Anyhoo, I’d like to just SEE you. And yes, with your pup. 🙂

Julie - Perhaps share what you are passionate about.
Man voice optional.

Sandra K - In my opinion, please don’t vlog. I often read your blog in the quiet of my house at night or sometimes (gasp) in the office and I’d rather read then turn on the volume on my PC, wait for the file to download, etc. Whatever you do, I will still check in every day though. Keep up the good work. 🙂

Krystle - I’d take a tour of your home! I think it’s beautiful!

Su@The Intentional Home - craft demo. . tour of your home. . .sewing demo. . .

Staci - Oh Megan…it soooo doesn’t matter what you do…people will love it!!! I’d watch whatever you decide 😉 Looking forward to some vloggin 🙂

Kristin Bommer - i feel like such a dorkus when i do video blogs too. but everyone else always thinks it’s so fun 🙂

Danielle - Hey Meg, just a head’s up. I’ve sent you a couple emails would you mind checking your junk mail they might have gone there:) Thanks!

Lindsay - Have your kids interview you! That would be great. Kids ask the funniest questions. And what else could be more REAL?

Christy - How about some sewing tips? Or a tour of your town? Question and answer session?

Jenny B. - Every idea I had has already been mentioned, so I ditto the above! Especially craft Thursdays, Q&A, or a video house tour (messy laundry room and all). 🙂 I will say that I tend to skip videos that are longer than 5 minutes. That’s just me, though… 🙂

Anna Marie - So many people seem to have various questions for you. Until you find your vlog “groove” you could do a bi-weekly “question post” where we ask you questions and then you answer them in vlog form. I bet it would go faster than having to type. Plus you might be able to “show” us things to go along with those answers.
Also, I too would like to see tours: house, specific rooms, not-so awesome spaces of your house like maybe an icky basement or something cool and/or odd, neighborhood tour, driving tour of your town (if that is safe), etc.
Irregardless of what you do I really do think it would be neat to have you vlog regularly. It just adds something more to this blog…I don’t know…I can’t find the words for it but I know I would like this blog even more.

Jennifer - I want a tour of your lovely house from your perspective!

Julia - How about a blog with you and Chicago Jenny? Or, chatting in the car on you way to Sonic?

Anne @ Baking - I think a photography tutorial would be awesome 🙂

carissa... brown eyed fox - oh YES… vlog!
do it!
do it!
i want to hear your voice!
that sounds so odd… i want to hear your voice! ha!
when i have met or talked to fellow bloggers on the phone that is always the biggest surprise!
how they talk!
all good… just to HEAR them is such a change!
so much personality in one’s voice… so much of them… you know?
plus… they usually have an accent i never thought they would!
SO fun!
i say anything you end up talking about will be a hoot…
everyone will get a kick out of it for sure!
can’t wait!

Courtney Walsh - I’ve thought about the vblog thing too, but I have to be honest, I don’t really watch them! I think this is just me, but I’m more of a reader, so I’m not sure it would fly on my blog. lol
I like Shauna’s idea…tap dance baby!

Jacci - My favorite is when she goes through the junk drawer. That one cracked me up. Something like that would be fun. Or take us through the school pick-up/Sonic routine complete with edits that showcase Annie-isms 🙂 Or just pick a time to vlog when the house is *extra* full of energy, everyone is doing something practically on top of everyone else, it’s LOUD, and you have to yell at the camera to get us to hear you clearly. LOL. I’d like that. Again, plenty of Annie, too 🙂 Just my 2 cents. I think it’d be fun whatever you do.

Regina - Yes, include Waffle (in a dapper bow tie), and name it “The morning show with Waffle”, 🙂

Shauna - Tap dance routine?

Sheri - Ok Meg – I LOVE your blog. Love love love your cooking. Have tried several of your recipes. You are just so down to earth and funny. Would love to see you include vlogs in your blogs. That would be awesome. It could be called “From the Mouth of Meg” – ah haaaa. How’s that. Keep up the good work and keep posting – AWESOME.

deborah@applesinwonderland - i am considering vlogging too. i’ve done it for other sites, but my own–just me? scared. i’m scared. why? are you scared? what are you scared of? oh boy. do it. do it. do it. (i’m chanting for both of us now) alright, not really chanting–more like enthuastically encouraging. how’s that? art thursday could be a vlog for starters?

ashley jensen - Oh my goodness she is hilarious! I love the swine flu masks. My question would be (since you LOVE rainbows so much) what would your reaction be to DOUBLE RAINBOWS in your backyard? I dont know if I could ever do vlogging. Scary stuff. Especially for someone shy like me but it wouldnt really matter since I am just talking to myself, basically. Right?

Amanda - How about a walking tour of your house? It’s awesome 🙂

jennyonthespot - I like what Jill above suggested!
I’d like to see your reaction to the vacuum salesman. Can you re-create that in a vlog? Heehee…
Oh girl… tutorials or show us areas of your home (or projects) that you have shared in pics and expand 🙂 Got any good jokes?
My friend Lu has recently started vlogging (http://www.art-slam.com/) and we’ve been roommates at a couple of events. I LOVE watching her videos because it makes me feel like we’re gettin’ together a little bit.
I want you to vlog so I cna feel more like we’ve had a little date 🙂

katey - You could have done the vlog of trimming waffle, if only you had thought of it! LOL!!! That would have been funny! No really start out with something easy like answering questions, then advance into a craft! You will decide the right thing!

happygirl - I love your blog as it is. I love your pics. I think your home decor is wonderful. I love your stories of life. I love your fearlessness of putting it all out there.

Jill - Maybe a Q&A. Your readers can submit questions that you can answer in Vlog. I think that’d be pretty cool!

sarah - I think people should vlog you their questions and then you answer them!! More vlogging to go around 🙂

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - A Day in the Life of Meg
A house Tour(I cant get enough of that gorgeous-ness)
or WHATEVER… I’ll watch it no matter what its about:)
Have a fun weekend!
xo,
Sarah

Sarah - Cook, craft thursday, decorating project, vlog a tour of your craft room! or vlog a home tour….bet everyone would love that!

Sandy W - I prefer reading to watching video. It is rarely quiet enough around here for me to listen to a vlog.

heidi @ wonder woman wannabe - i think you’d be great at vloging! many of your posts could easily transfer onto that platform. check out mama mary’s blog – she is a vlogging PRO and was even recently invited to speak at a blogging conference about it!
http://www.mamamaryshow.com
cheers!
~h

melissa rice - I like you just the way you are. I wouldn’t want all vlogs b/c out here in the country we don’t have fast internet!!! it would take me 30 mins to watch you !!!
you make me giggle! thanks for the inspiration.
melissa
http://www.theshabbyfarmchick.blogspot.com

sara @ it's good to be queen - yes do a vlog! we would LOVE it. and double yes, show us the mom swimsuit dress. you are a hoot!! 🙂

Terrie - I wish this were like facebook…’cause I’d ‘like’ Jenn Shock’s answer! 🙂

Jenn - I’m for the answering of questions. I also think a craft demo would be good too! And a cooking demo 🙂

Jessica Johnson - I would LOVE to see your mug in a vlog. Honestly, normally they freak me out a little bit and make me get all anxious for the person. Kind of like watching Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer? Do you feel me on that one? Like “train wreck! train wreck! Stop! STOP!” But I think you would be fab. I vote you talk photography. Or dog grooming. 😉 And Waffle definitely needs to be in it.

Holly - I love the vlog idea! I have been thinking about doing one for a while now. You should totally do a craft thursday vlog!
oh and I just watched annies video and I was cracking up at her licking her fingers whne she turned the pages! So cute!

Kimberly Dial - Why not mix it up & do a bit of both? Your blog is a fave of mine but a vlog may be fun too (on occasion) … oh my, decisions, decisions …… have a great day!

Jenn Shock - I like the idea of answering questions via vlog, but how about maybe doing a video of Craft Thursday?

jill - you talk, i’ll watch. it won’t matter what it is about. 🙂

Heather R. - Whatever 🙂

CathyC - Good morning Meg! Your blog is my FAVORITE. FAVORITE. I look forward to a new post every single day and I am always pleased thankyouverymuch.
But, I do not think you should copy anyone else, Vlog, or whatever (no pun intended). I think that the reason I like you so much is because you are so genuine and lovely and it is expressed perfectly through your written words and your photography. Vlog would take away from that, even though I understand that it works for Jenny on The Spot.
Now I am not saying that I would not want to see you on video, (especially if you are taping a tour of your house, just saying), but I hope you know I, and probably most, like you just the way you have been showing up every day.
That’s all.
Cathy C.

Becki G. - how about Q & A?
or a craft video?
i also think you’d be awesome at making a day in the life video
set to music. c’mon…do it!!!

KTG - You have a lovely voice not dorky. I remember when you read some Dr.Seuss with Annie. I think it was. I thought you sounded like a sweet lady!

Rachel J - I LOVE the recipes. We make your peanut butter pie here pretty regularly. 🙂 Vlogs with Waffle would be really cute. You could interview your kids about goofy stuff or more about your walk with God, the ups and downs or what books your reading or music your listening, movies you watch. We love you and and your blog. Just keep being you and we’ll keep reading! Happy Friday!

Teresa - Teach us how you edit your pictures as well as how to use a DSLR. Talk about the funny things your kids say. I always read them and wonder if you’re cracking up as you’re typing.
Talk about what you LOVE 🙂

lorelei - this sounds fun. i have done several vlogs, it gets easier as you do them. i know you’ll be great! can’t wait to see your first one!

Kat - Go for it. I am sure there are lot of us who would love to just hear you chat, answer questions and muse like you do on your blog.
Lets have a “get to know Meg” better session as a starter.

Sophie - I’m sure people have A LOT of questions to ask. (I for one have always wondered how you came up with Talby’s name) I think at the beginning, at least, you should just answer people’s questions. When you’re more comfortable, you can start talking about whatever takes your fancy. I’d definitely watch (:

Michelle - i love that you’re up late too 😉 seriously Meg I would love more recipes! I am proud to say I have made all of the recipes on your blog, I know I know, it’s a bit “stalker-ish” but I couldn’t help myself, everything is so dang easy and so yummy.
But I honestly think anything you vlog about will be great! You should do sit down interviews, with your kids, have them ask you questions, and vice versa. Or have your followers submit questions that you answer on a vlog 😉
Off to bed!
Hope this helped!

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - Hi Meg!
I agree with Megan….Cook! Your recipes are always ‘comfort food’ to me and I’d LOVE to see your kitchen a bit more : )
Gemma x

Georgia - I would like to know –
1) Who is the person you look up to and admire?
2) Do you have any regrets – (i.e fashion, life, jobs etc)
3) Whats your no.1 favourite food.
4) Whats your favourite pair of Shoes that you own?
Ooooh i cant wait! if you want more tips another blog i read ‘younghouselove’ they do video’s all the time answering questions.
xx

Megan - Cook! I love your recipes and think you have mad kitchen skills and quite a beautiful kitchen to boot! I’d watch you!

i need it.

ok….NEED is a strong word.

but i do WANT things….like iPhones….iPads.

even though i never travel to places that may need this.
i still want it.

IT'S AWESOME.

really awesome.

what a brilliant way to use technology!

wow.

==================================================

thank you for all the nice things you said about my blog yesterday.
not what i was expecting….i thought you try to help me answer the question….but your nice words were a good boost to my stuffy achey nyquil filled head.
i guess i settled with lifestyle/creative family blogger.
sounds made up.
oh well.
there isn't a real category division anyway….i just wondered what you thought.

it's all done.
i am so glad.

jillian and i are still on.
i am almost ready for week 2….i'm scared.
and i SUCK at the meal plan.
like i am probably at 15%.
oh well.
i am still letting her kick my booty in the living room everyday (except yesterday)

he doesn't look that bad.
he doesn't look that good either.
but it's done.
i may never do it again…..but maybe i will…..groomers are expensive.
and i definitely understand exactly why now.
but i like trying new things.
i can check dog grooming off my life list of things i am not great at but just semi-ok at.
check.

IMG_0293-3

and he still loves me.
thank goodness.

Jodi - Just wanted to let you know I groomed my Shih Tzu today. I’ve had this post in the back of my mind while my Sammy grew out. Today I did it. Same thought…he doesn’t look horrible, but not as great as his $60 groomers haircut would look. Then again, he’s now cool in the hot summer sun and I still have $60 in my pocket!!

Kelly - Oh, dying laughing here. That is not a happy Waffle in the first photo… and it’s looking like Waffle has a wattle… it happened to our dog at about age seven… but you are a good mom. He is so loved.

Megan - After you started the Jillian Ripped in 30, I hopped on Amazon and ordered the DVD! It came today and I just did the first workout! Ow. I am just looking to become more toned, and WOW am I sore! Hopefully this will work!! Thanks for some inspiration!

Kelley - I just checked out the app….its 10.00!!!!!!!!! too much for this broke college student!!!! (But so totalllllyyyy awesome!!!) <3

rachel / cr.e.at.e - i adore this dog – shaggy or shaved. so glad you posted the other pics of him because it appears in the top left he is thoroughly MIFFED as all get out. 🙂 hope you’re feeling better!

Jessica Johnson - waffle!!! good job, mama. and yes, brilliant app. there will need to be lots more DIY doggies cuts in my future to be able to use it… 😉

tara pollard pakosta - I just love Waffle, sigh>>>he’s so cute!
I know it costs us 55. to groom our cockapoo and he’s only 30lbs sheesh! but it is alot of work, we tried and couldn’t do it, we only trimmed him a tiny bit and gave up! he was too scared!
go YOU on jillian!
I only did 2 days and am scared to go back.
I did 5 days of it a year ago and it took me this long to get back to it! the good news is since feb 14th i Have lost 14lbs!
not from jillian though LOL!
just watching what I eat!
tara

ashley jensen - Our puppy dog is in dire need of a massive trimming. He looks like Chewbacca (he’s half brussels griffon half yorkie). I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to trim some dogs but Waffle looks like a pretty laid back. And before too long his hair will grow out just enough to where you can’t tell a diy dog groomer did it!

Kimberly Dial - Waffle is adorable and his name — too cute!

Headfullofclouds.blogspot.com - They do say that the difference between a bad haircut and good haircut is a couple of weeks, so Waffle, who doesn’t look half bad now, will look Awesome in a couple of weeks. 🙂
I had an accident with my sony walkman a couple of weeks back (it got very wet and sadly passed away) and “upgraded” to in iPod Touch… which now just makes me really want an iPad! Though there is no way I can justify why it’d be any use. At least you can make calls and send texts with an iPhone!

Gemma @ Musings of a gem - He is such a fluffy dog…adorable!

bobbie - I groom my dog myself too but entirely with scissors because he’s terrified of clippers. He always looks very.. um.. inventive… the first few days. But after about a week it grows out a little and just gets fluffy. Well, except that one time…poor dog.

Kat - Go you with the workouts!
would love to hear what they involve and what kind of food do you have to make?
Ah I agree with a pp, you have to cook for six others and that is hard at the best of times.
Would love to know what she says about snacks, as I think that is the tricky part!
Keep up the good work Meg.

Sarah @ Handbags*N*Pigtails - Awwwwwwwwww…Waffle looks so much better without his poodle feet:) I say keep doin it yourself. You’ll get better each time and save money doin it. And think of all the bonding time you will have with him:)
We LOVE our rainbow hoodie. It came yesterday.
xo,
Sarah

Kimberlee J. - Based on what I saw in Waff this week, I’d say you did well.
And he totally stuck with me….like all day. And then I spilled diet coke on myself and just went to work like that anyways, because seriously, WHO looks at me?

karen - LOL!! that first pic of Waffle is too funny…he does NOT look happy with you!

April M - if only they had an app that translated for dogs – then Waffle could tell you that he appreciates your efforts on his behalf 🙂

Laura - Couple months ago I saved at least $75 by giving our puppy his vaccine booster myself instead of going to the vet. Never gave anyone a needle before, but it got done! Wahoo for figuring stuff out for yourself!

Jennifer Williams - I think you did a good job with Waffle. Doesn’t it make you feel a little better about spending the money on things when you find out just how hard some jobs are? It sure gives me appreciation for things.

julia - Waffle looks like he feels violated. Either that or his dignity has suffered a major blow.

Stefanie Arnold - Wow… I didn’t know Jillian’s work out comes with a meal plan! here I lost my weight, thinking she was amazing, with just her work out! After this pregnancy I’ll have to try the meal plan 🙂
Did you get it with your DVD’s? Mine didn’t come with one. But I only bought the 30 Day Shred at Target. Maybe that’s why.
I want the ipad2 too. My Mom just got hers and skypes with me to show it off 🙂

Pamela Gordon - Waffle looks great today 😉 And he still loves you indeed. He probably feels a lot better with all that hair shaved off. I hope you are feeling much better tomorrow! Blessings, Pamela

Lisa - I have resisted lots of technology for years but I officially want an iphone. 🙂 Can’t wait for my print to come in the mail too! Hope you are getting healthy… this years been a rough one in our family. Hoping the cold season is over!

Heidi - Never commented on your awesomeness before, but that picture of Waffle giving a somewhat stink-face at the camera is just a hoot!!! I get home from teaching and skip on over to see what’s up. Today you gave me a good laugh with that Mr. Waffle’s “stink-face”. Thanks for encouraging us to all try something new!

Abby B - I saw that app a month or so ago, and if it actually worked like that (no idea if it does) and I actually had an ipod that wasn’t broken, it would be amazing! There have been several times on our recent vacation in Italy that I’ve lamented about not having this app!

Valerie@Chateaualamode.typepad.com - Waffle looks much better now that you fully trimmed him up. Yea Meg! Jillian scares me but I’m considering buying her DVD because I’ve become such a marshmallow…..hmmm.

happygirl - Such a cool app. I’m going to show it to my boss. He travels to Italy often and never know what they are saying to him. I think he will LOVE it. I KNOW I will. And, good jog grooming. Do you cut your daughter’s hair, too? hahahaha

Jennifer - Waffle is working the Billy Idol sneer in the first picture. But the last one is soooooo cute. He does love you! What a meatball nose he has! I think you did a pretty good job.

sue - Good for you tying new things but there is one thing i will not to do my dogs and that is cut there nails. It scares the you know what out of me so i have the vet do that. It costs me 10 dollars per dog but worth every penny. !

Nicole Q. - That is a super cool app. Amazing really.

georgia - Do you ever cut waffles claws? I have tried with my dogs but they don’t like it one bit! Lol

Jodi @ The Un-Soccermom Blog - LOVE the look Waffles is giving in that first picture..
I would have to agree w/ the category

Erin Ward - What??? That app cannot be real. If I was cool enough to have an iPhone, I would totally play with that all the time.

Marie - I’m letting Jillian kick my butt too and I’m horrible at the eating plan too 🙂
thelincbetweenus.blogspot.com

Peggyrice@gmail.com - Okay, I’m going to have to take up for Waffle here, I think you’re the best Meg, but dog grooming may not be at the top of your list of skills;-) Bad hair or not, he is still cute!

sarah w. - Oh precious Waffle.
He’s still the cutest dog.
&
I love Jillian.
She got me into great shape.

Marla Rae - Waffle looks super dee duper and I just love that his name is Waffle. How did he get his name? I am so curious about how Waffle bacame Waffle. Thank you for your you-ness. If you lived in North Dakota I am sure we would be friends …antiques..crafts..family..fun…vintage…except I have never clipped a dog although I did go to beauty school and worked in a salon for 7 years…people tho not dogs. Have a great day!!

Wendy - Omgosh seriously LOL’ed at the picture of the dog!!! That is hilarious.

Anne @ Baking Me - Waffle looks great!

Daniele Valois - oh, your dog looks so handsome! …I am still getting ripped too, but I took off Monday for a cold!, and I am not very good with the diet. I am not doing horrible, I just need more carbs! …so, it will be interesting to see how we do with mostly letting her kick our butts with the workouts! I”m not stopping!!!

Staci - I don’t even think I checked in on your blog yesterday ;( sadness 🙁 So this is probably a little late…but awesome…that’s what you are….you groom dogs…do crafts, cook, sew….YOU DO IT ALL!!! You are in a category all of your own…and I think it’s a great one 🙂

Jennifer - Awww…Waffle is so precious! He looks like an old soul and one who has a tender spirit. I think you did a great job with his grooming.

sharron - he looks great!
glad you are feeling better too 🙂
blessings~

Leah - I’m a firm believer that if you’re working hard exercising, you can have some leeway (did I spell that right?) with your food choices. Not saying to go hog wild. But if you’re working Jillian hard. I’d say that itself is an accomoplishment. And does she have six people to cook for every night? Probably not. That’s all I’m saying.

Ana M - You are great !!! So easy to laugh with the way you put things in perspective…(Ok, sorry about my english but I’m brazilian and even though I graduate from english school you can realize that sadly I don’t practice very often…)
Waffle is fine and time would bring you more skills…
Thanks for you blog, your posts and thanks for being just you…
God bless…
