Too cute! I linked your post on my blog (hope you don’t mind! Take a looksee). My 7 yr. old daughter LOVED this! She is our little artist and it won’t surprise me if she has her own version of this over the weekend. I adored this! thanks for sharing. I love this video. I played it at the beginning of the school year for my AP Art class. It was an inspiration for them. It just makes me happy. And it sticks in my head. Love it! I love this!!!I wish I were in my craft room for the next five ours. I have a box of unfinished projects that needs to be completed and some birthday presents to make. Never ends. I just wish I were not at a desk at work right now and doing my own crafts. Have fun!!!! Thanks for sharing this video – I loved it and it made me think of my sister! I sent it to her and she loved it :). Question for you – where can I find your Etsy shop? what a great video! So amazingly incredible, I love this song! π love this ssssooo much!!! thanks for sharing!!! Love it! β₯ I’m sending the link to my daughter. This is totally her thing!!! That is inspiring, made me feel like I could possibly make something arty, and it would look good. It is a magical clip.
Perfect thing to see today. Thank you. It’s true sometimes you just need a little inspiration. That was a fun little video. The only problem is now I want to make art, but I have stuff to do. I need to finish some applications and do a bunch of writing. Maybe I’ll have to make some time later today for art. I had found this video last year- love it!
absolutely loved this! So great!! Thanks for sharing!! so CUTE! I sent it to my daughter – who is an ART student in California – enjoy your CREATIVE day!! LOVE. incredible. and i LOVE the song! i just got an idea a 1/2 hour ago & i’m desperate to start. π this was just what i needed before i turned on my space heaters & got to work in my dungeon of a basement turned art studio. and i WISH i could listen to this song on repeat. best of luck to you meg in your creative 5 hours!
hillarious!
LOL…too funny!
This isn’t related to your post, but I had to say, Duh! when I realized that the baby you were talking about was Amy’s baby (I read her blog too). Great pictures. They made me cry! And I don’t even know them in real life. It’s such a miracle, though, and after the last few years I don’t take the beginning of a life for granted. It’s great that you were able to experience that with them! what a hoot! and to think i used to be such a miley fan. not anymore – sadly – i had to email this video to a couple people – thanks for posting it :O) Too funny, thanks for a good laugh to start my Saturday morning!
billy dee makes me want to actually buy these for all my family members for christmas …that would be a hoot! That.Was.Funny. That’s great! Thanks for sharing! Girl that is too funny Yes. Just yes. too funny! I had to share on twitter of course…
That was so funny. Billy Dee Williams…. such a guy! He is so smooth…
oh my! I will be passing that one around, thanks! HA HA HA!!!!! I think that made my morning even more than the dirty dishes in the last post! Stephen Colbert did a bit on it calling it a “Twadgedy” π That was hilarious! Thanks for a fun way to start my Friday!! Meg, These are my thoughts exactly about Twitter! π Hilarious!!! Happy Weekend to you and YOURS!!! That was great! Thanks! DOO DA DOO too funny!! 1. i have been listening to Pandora all week with the station i typed in of the Jackson 5. it is making our morning chaos a little fun…..we're groovin'. 2. this was on the radio this morning on the way to school.
i was belting it out and dancing too….oh oh oh ohohoh! it was 20 years ago that i went to their concert in Kansas City with steffany. they wore rainbow colored sequined blazers. 3. i bet you didn't know i am really good at naming movies from another room…by sound not sight. i will be doing something in the kitchen and craig calls to me "name that movie" it's just like name that tune…. i am a name-that-movie expert. (self appointed expert of a game that i made up) 4. my 15th anniversary was last week…..and i forgot! but craig didn't. 5. i made coffee on sunday about 2 minutes after i got out of bed. i forgot to put the pot in the machine. the whole pot of coffee ended up on the counter and floor. niiiiiiiiiice. 6. i have a attack plan for cleaning my house over the next 8 days that i will be home. 2 rooms a day…deep cleaning….UGH. but it must be done. i started with the craft room so i would feel like i could breathe. and today is the boys' room. MAJOR mess. they "clean" it on saturdays but i am going to CLEAN it. with The New Kids on in the background. 7. wild sunflowers are everywhere…. I used to suffer BIG TIME with this crap! I have been cotleemlpy delivered from anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, ocd and much more for over 5 years now. No it’s not a, you gotta pay something nonsense. I want to tell as many people as I can because I am cotleemlpy healed of it all without having to a pay cent! Check out my channel or go to my site: fuentesevangelism . com. You will not be disappointed! I used to suffer BIG TIME with this crap! I have been comtlepely delivered from anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, ocd and much more for over 5 years now. No it’s not a, you gotta pay something nonsense. I want to tell as many people as I can because I am comtlepely healed of it all without having to a pay cent! Check out my channel or go to my site: fuentesevangelism . com. You will not be disappointed! Sensitization , Bewilderment and Fear. This person is treppad in the anxiety state due to extreme sensitization, both physical and mental ( you can see his nerves are edge all the time). This sensitization is kept alive by belwiderment ( he does not know why he feels like this and wants to be his old self agian if only he knew how) and the most powerful emotion FEAR. Unknowinlgy he adds FEAR to FEAR. He needs to PASS THROUGH the fear the right way and not avoid or quiten it. DR Weekes talby’s shirt is awesome!
Love the new look too cute!
I have done the coffee thing, danced to NKOB, but I can’t name people or movies to save my life. I need the “mom translator” from Saturday Night Live. Thanks for the flashback. :)~Heather Richter I started playing the video and my two year old got up and started dancing all around! So cute to see my kid jam out the music of “my day”. lol!
Oh good grief – I have never even thought of your coffee project, what a nightmare… but I never remember our anniversary or the poor man’s birthday!!! The luck of the draw I guess… I could remember his birthday and forget his lunch!!! Love the picture! And I like your idea for the cleaning. Made the rainbow cake this weekend for my daughter’s 18th bday, it turned out great, she loved it! i love pandora…it also makes my daily activities a little bit more groovin’.
I totally play the ‘name that movie’ game with my husband, he tries to stump me all the time and gets mad when I get it. I can even name movies I’ve never seen, as long a I have seen the trailer at some point. Great list, I love your blog. I too love your blog…and the coffee pot one cracks me up. That is so something I would (and probably will) do. π I was a Jordan gal π LOL – awesome song – it is cracking me up! 7th grade I think? π I love your blog!!! It’s one of the first things I read in the morning and it always makes me smile π
meg… you are happiness! i too was at the nkotb concert in kc 20 years ago. although i’d rather not put the number of how many years ago that was. wow!! still love them to this day. Hey Meg…love your new kids video…I never got to go to their concert “back in the day”, but my friends and I went when the came to KC last November…it was a BLAST! A bunch of 30-something women screaming for these guys!!! What a memory!
I totally play “name-that-movie” too! The smallest little snippet is all I need- Glad there’s someone out there who shares my “gift” π Oh I could really get some deep cleaning done with NKOTB in the background! man, if you can deep clean your whole house in 8 days, then i must really have a lot of stuff….i gave myself until halloween! bonjour! I was pretty into Jon…I liked the shy guys. Love Love Love New Kids, I too went to their concert in Kansas City (that is where I live) what a blast from the past. They were on the The Today show a few years ago and I was singing the songs in front of my girls and they thought I was so weird. I tried explaining that I loved New Kids like they love Jonas Bros.
my husband loooves pandora radio it’s pretty neat!! GREAT photo of Talby! Fun list! Kelly
i know i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but a little new kids along for the ride never hurt. i love that idea!!
new kids!! yay! i am glad someone else likes them and remembers them from when they 1st started! sometimes i feel so old! love the sunflowers! wish we had them growing like that here in Tulsa! #5 is HEART BREAKING. I actually cried a bit for you. Love the 2 rooms a day!…think that might motivate me!
NKOTB. Yes. I also adore ‘name that movie.’ I think in high school I quoted so many movies that I rarely spoke original thoughts. I cried at their concert. Seriously. I did. Not sure why. I think it’s what I thought I should do.
Donnie was and still is my favorite! Only I didnβt get to go to their concert until this year and man was it fun!
NKOTB FOREVER!!! Donnie still makes me light headed! Oh, I was so in love with Joey. Now I feel old. i am not kidding. i love to go to the demolition derby in my home town. it's a fun night…everyone is there to have a good time…and sometimes you get muddy! raise your hand if you like to go to demo derbies too! i knew i wasn't the only one. we sat with our friend joel and his two grandsons. it was packed. we sat on the side facing the sun and it was so bright for the first hour. blinding sun. the drivers wear helmets while they drive (so we can be safe…says dora the explorer) they have no glass and i was told by kids this year that the gas tank is in the car…so it won't explode. correct me if i am wrong. i probably am. they paint their cars all different…this striped one was my favorite this year…unique. but i will always cheer for a pink car also. and it is really loud. when all those engines are running at the same time it is LOUD. they have 60 seconds to get their car running again if they are stuck or their engine dies. if they can't they have to break off their flag in their window and sit and wait till the heat if over. (again…correct me if i am wrong) this is a "demo official" as you can see. they tell the cars when to start…if they need to stop…help them if their tires fall off…etc. seriously. the derby runs in heats of about 7 cars each until only two cars are left. so you sit for about 15 minutes in between heats. one break you have to go get a snack…we just got pop because the line was too long for funnel cakes. there is country music blaring over the speaker system. you have to have ambiance you know? another break always has to be waiting in line for the porta-potties. UGH! so gross. and another highlight is the guys in a golf cart throwing out demo t-shirts to the crowd. i want a demo t-shirt. after a tractor pulls the cars out that are dead this truck sprays water over the dirt to keep it wet. when it's really muddy the cars can't drive as fast…(so we can be safe…) notice the guys in the orange shirts…they are texting!?? between heats the kids can be on the fence…not during. safety. the girl in the pink tee and sunglasses was shaking her little booty to the music…it was so cute. the cars parade around the arena before the heat starts. sun was starting to set…that is mud flying in the air. there are a lot of fire fighters, EMT and police to keep everything under control. so would like to hear a little of this derby? thanks to joel and his cool flip camera…i have video for you! (and now i really want a flip camera too) the first one is just us in between heats… the drunk man was a problem and we asked him to leave…finally…he did. i told you i was a weirdo-magnet. this proves it. and now you are dying to see the real thing…i know it. you want to feel the action! crank up your sound so it feels like you are there. you are all redneck mamas like me who love to watch cars smash each other. did you love it?! HA! there was even a compact car heat. a ford pinto! (aaron meyers i miss you.) our group was really wanting lloyd's red car to win…screaming for lloyd. but Cory won. he and his buddies were pumped! this year there was a fireworks show before the final round. and they were really good…i was impressed. the Hamm brothers were the two final cars…kind of the usual thing. they are "famous" for winning the derbies in hillsboro. jason (left) has his wife's name on his car…CARLA…now that is love. she probably had to put up with a lot of him working in the shop to get a winning car. i think her name should be on the entire side next year…end to end. just a thought carla. another night of small town goodness. grateful for stuff like this…even if it is really hick and redneck. it is too fun to care. We’re the officials every year it is fun I’m still thinking why most of you love watching demo derby. My wife loves watching ’em too and I think she’s addicted to it! There’s this one time that she even wanted to join and use our car. And I’m like, “What?! Our car?! Are you out of your mind?!” Hahaha! But still, I love her for that. =) “It turned out to be one of the best short pieces I have ever done, and Kate Wilson, editor at Scholastic, read it to her little girl, and they both loved it, and she emailed me in the new year and asked if they could publish it as an illustrated book. This sure seems like a perfect night out! TO be honest- I didn’t get the “fun” you were talking about at first- but going through your pictures- this seems like an amazing event to attend! i enjoy running derbies. usually run canton and hillsboro every year, u know my number OU812 just out to have fun!! O.M.G! ha ha i am totally laughing out loud!!!!!!!!!!!! that is HILARIOUS! i think i will have to add a demo derby to my summer-to-do-list next year! your pictures are amazing of course but the video is a nice touch. you could totally score one of those for christmas!
i LOVE demolition derbies. haven’t been to one in years. i think my 5-year-old would LOVE them too. thanks for the video!
I.LOVE.THE.DEMO.DERBY! If I ever make it to Kansas I hope it’s on demo derby night!! fun, fun, FUN! demo derby… so much fun! its my favorite part of going to the pratt county fair. btw, i love the picture of the fireworks to pieces. not to sound like a creeper, but it’s now my desktop background, i love it that much. i love a good demo derby too! now for a real county fair.. have you ever heard of hog wrestling?? hmmm im not one for demo derbies BUT it was great getting to see you guys on video!!! yay:)
Oh, we were talking about going to the demo…. Thanks for the video, now we can experience a little of what we missed. My brother drove in it so many years ago—really a lot of FUN! Next time wait in line for one of the funnel cakes those two are some of the NICEST people I know! WOW that looks fab fun. I’m with Sophie’s comment, I too thought the derby was only on something like the ‘Simpsons’ – doh I’m an idiot!
Okay, now my 2 year old thinks you are the coolest as well!!! He says, “more, more, more!”. Jaylee says, “now that’s how you smoosh a car.” Paris needs a race like this.
Okay, I didn’t read through all the comments and maybe someone already mentioned this — but what about the SMELL?!? Did it smell like…burning rubber and overheating car?!? I grew up in rural Minnesota. The demo derby comes every summer and my mom started taking me young. (If you saw my mom — you’d never guess her to be a demo fan — but she was pure awesomeness and exposed me to all kinds of cool things like this.) I miss them. They must have them somewhere in Oregon — I’ll have to research. My daughter is now four — it’s time. Glad you had fun — and I wish I could’ve been there! π As entertaining and fun as you make it sound, I still don’t think I would like the demo derby. Enjoy reading about AND seeing your time there π Totally agree. I’m from suburbs of Chicago, and we love the demo derby out here too. Cute videos! You guys have a little southern drawl happening over by you. Very fun. You’re too cute. Fun website.
Oh man, this brings back the memories… back when I was a country girl growing up. We’d go to the county fair each year for demo derby night. One year our machanic even bought my mom’s old tank of a car off her and put it in the derby. They painted it like a pack of fruit striped gum and called it the lifesaver. I cried because it made me sad that our old car hurt (I was little OK!). I miss the fair and the demo derby and the funnel cakes. Looks like a great way to spend an evening! Never been to one… but someday perhaps when Olaf gets a bit older π I love that you call soda … pop. π
My favorite was the people watching from the bucket that was suspended 50 feet over the arena. Good times. Check out our blog for my interpretation of the county fair. I have never been to a demolition derby -I wouldn’t even know where to find one – so thanks for the vicarious experience through video! That was great.
You are so funny! My husband & his brother entered the derby at our state fair, several years ago. They didn’t last too long, but they had an absolute blast! The uglier the car, the better. They love to buy old random beat up cars & trash on them, silly boys! I love small town life! I would have cheered for the pink car too! Not a fan of the derby but LUUUUUUUV the videos. You crack me up with your fancy necklace on at a DERBY with MUD..LOL Would you still like me if I told you that you could’t get me to one of those if it was the last place in the world that sold funnel cakes? love it! especially the pop up video . . . looks like you have a blast! How fun, I have never been, do they even have them in Cali? You look so cute on the video, the curly hair and your necklace, how cute! More videos please, I love videos! I haven’t seen this much Redneck fun since I went to Walmart… thanks for the videos…they were great!
We sat on the opposite side no sun, but you have to get there a little earlier! The boys enjoy it, not really my thing, but since I have boys I guess I have to endure it! Kind of wish the Hamms would have more competition, not so fun when you know who will win.
This looks toooo fun! And for a redneck you are incredibly glamorous π thanks for posting– that brings back fun memories! btw, i think you were the best dressed demo derby go-er! ahhh there were fireworks this year? lucky. i had plans so i couldn’t make it. π thanks for the recap though. i had some friends in high school who worked on the pit crews. i desperately wanted to be their (better) friend so that i could do it too. oh, and i also want to be friends with the fam who sits in the cherry picker.
This brought back the memories. I am a Tulsa girl, but for “one and a half winters” we lived up in MN (that’s how you count time up there). My husband’s cousin up there invited us to the demolition derby. We had no idea what to expect and showed up in our little preppy Ralph Lauren shorts ensembles only to find ourselves surrounded by rednecks and mud flying up in our hair. It was awesome. It still makes me laugh to this day. I’m back safe and sound again in Tulsa, but I will always love Anoka, MN for its county fair and the hilarious night it gave me. π I went to a demo derby at the Nebraska State Fair when I was younger…we teased our hair up nice and high…put on lots of makeup…and put on temporary barbwire arm tattoos! We fit right in back then!!! So fun!!! Feelin’ like the dorky city girl here. I only thought they did that in the movies, not in real life! Kinda like when we first moved to CO and I realized that there really are cowboys, too. I have apparently led a very sheltered life and I need to experience more. Your pictures are wonderful, as usual. You’ve got such a gift!
I live in the city and now am so jealous that we don’t have the derby around here. What a blast! i’m am HIGHLY avoiding the question from micah about when the demolition derby is…we forgot until it was too late. he is not going to be happy. Oh I have to ask my parents about this memory…like I was a little girl in the 70’s…Pasadena CA?…and I remember we had these huge ugly green corduroy pillows we would take to sit on at the races – figure 8 racing. Loved it, and wish we had flips back then, lol! Wow! that looks really fun! If you hadn’t included the video, I would never have considered it. Thanks! Corey is driving back to Abilene tonight to go to the COMBINE demo derby. Are you jealous? π Oh yeah! We went last year and our kids had so much fun. You captured it well. Meg, your so glam!! β₯ a glam red neck mama! lol x
Too funny!!! growing-up for fun my dad owned a dirt race track…I was the trophy girl stand-in one night…I was 12…don’t you know that poor guy who won was sadly disappointed!! π Have had a migraine for 4 days…even with that I am still laughing at that first video….now I’m confused about division….haven’t heard about the famous Hamm Brothers-feel a little out of it.
omgosh this looks like FUN~ I am in Oklahoma and we have a LOT more rednecks than Kansas ;0) so I am sure there has to be a demoderby around here somewhere!! I MUST go! I am seriously going to look into it because my birthday is coming up and we were going to to go a Tulsa Drillers game, but I think my husband would enjoy this so much more! (& me to) =0) My dad drove in demolition derbies up until I was 2 or so. He had a car with all our names on it and I have a picture of my mom posing on it with a small beehive hairdo and pedal pushers. Co-ol.
i almost got up to dance…. that song is just so catchy. the grandpa with the suit jacket and hammer pants? HA HA HA HA and i hope those pants NEVER come back in style. Shut the door! That is so funny. We just went through some old high school pics at a girls night and one of my girlfriends was wearing a nice royal blue pair with a cute jacket with gold chains to match. Fabulous! Just stumbled across your blog from one blog to another to another and here I am. Love it!
So cool I would love to be somewhere when that happens! Can you imgine how long it took Granpa to learn those moves! Love it!
AWESOME. I totally had a pair. Electric blue with a big black design all over them. They ROCKEd. Funny you said that about the pants…I just saw a new story within the last month on Good Morning America or The Today Show or something like that about the pants making a comeback. It was funny! They really are showing up on runways – not that any of us acutally wear those clothes – but they interviewed MC Hammer about it and I guess the pants are really in stores. I’ll have to see if I can find the link. confession: i have been watching hammer time’s reality tv show that just aired…. love it……love the video!!!
Hilarious….wow…that hardly deserves words. that was stinkin funny. Just imagine!! That was great! Just found your blog today through Simple Mom. Love your pictures. I need a pot of coffee and the kids in bed to really sit down and enjoy your whole blog…hmmm? That sounds like a good idea for tonight. π that is so funny, my first concert was mc hammer i was like 10
HILARIOUS!! Couldn’t keep my feet still! =) Oh Meg…. they have them at Target… I think they’re coming back, or trying to come back. Not for me though… never ever. I’ve seen that video and it’s HILARIOUS! That is freaky and too funny!!! Love the grandpa too!!! ha ha!! so funny! i used to work in retail and if people ran in my store dancing like this …well i’d join them!!! π
my hubs and i laughed so hard the first time we saw this. it never gets old. have you seen the sound of music at the train station? it’s classic. puts a smile on my face every time! here’s a link:
OH MY GOODNESS…that was hilarious!!!!!! I couldn’t keep my feet still!!! Love it!!! Those pants are quite somethin’!!! Can’t believe people once wore those and were stylin!!! oh my…….
so funny.
omigoodness…thanks so much for the laugh! that was my favorite part too! hehehehehehehe….. π That was a great skit! I love it when JT hosts SNL. that must have been the one SNL skit in the past year that was funny – it was a great way to start the morning. thanks. I have a not so secret crush on JT…not even that he’s that cute…but my gosh, he is hysterical. Funny thing, I think my husband has a bit of a “man crush” on him as well. How can you not? thanks for sharing! i hardly ever get to watch SNL and that just made my morning!!! So funny!
funny π Those are my favorite SNL when JT is on! Hope you’re having fun! π this entire episode was my most favorite…i’ve already made many mentions at my place…and yes i am horrible and let my ladies watch the ‘turget lady’ and now every time we go to turget my ladies shake their shoulders and say “classic peg”…and the barry gibb talk show…pure amazingness! That whole show with JT was hilarious. Love him! that is great. i have never really been a justin timberlake fan, but i am now. he is hilarious when he is on SNL!!

Sara Cameli - oooooooooh Meg, that Bidet bit cracked me up SOOOOO much. Thanks for sharing.
purejoy - hmmm. we’re thinking of adding on a new bathroomβ¦ and now i pretty much want a bidetβ¦ a bidetβ¦
best commercial ever was the kotex classic. you must google it. in terrible taste, but oh, so funny!!
Courtney - oh they were great! just the laugh i needed today π
Michelle Whitlow - Ok, I watched these yesterday…and laughed hysterically of course! But today I was in the store…Kohls to be exact…by myself…and that Michael Buble song came on. And I started cracking up, but then had to quickly hide it cause I wasn’t with my kids and I would’ve just looked like a weirdo standing there by myself laughing π
Jen - oh I so needed those laughs today! Thanks for sharing!
Jill - Thanks for posting those. I hardly ever watch SNL these days. My partner recently found out she didn’t get hired for a job she really wanted, and has been in a bad mood. This provided a well needed laugh last night… especially Hamm and Bubbly! I’m chuckling just thinking about it now.
Karen Gerstenberger - I’m not usually up late enough to see SNL, so I loved that you shared this – thank you! Hilarious…and especially so, since we recently saw Buble perform in Seattle.
Flower Patch Farmgirl - Thank you, from me and the Mister.
Kristin Wiig makes me love my double chin – just a little.
Angela - HAHAHAHAA!!!!!!! I just posted those to my Facebook page. Hilarious! Just what I needed after my long day. π
Julie - I’m an SNL fan, too! Thanks for sharing the clips!
Messy@Bungalow'56 - Too bad, I wasn’t able to open them. Might be a Canadian thing. I’ll have to find them on youtube. I could use a laugh.
Dana
mandy - ha! i needed that laugh today! you’re the best to pass on a little humor… now i have to call my husband and have him watch them too!
Piccolotakesall.wordpress.com - I’ll take my Hamm (yummy) without the Buble, please!
Dana Banana - Thanks for the laugh Megan!
Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - Too funny! I didn’t know Kelly Ripa was a comedian and Michael Buble really had the scared look down. That was great.
Staci - I LOVE KELLY RIPPA!!!!!!!!!! HOW funny!!!!!!
Sarah@Clover Lane - you find the funniest things!
Gemma - I love Michael Buble!
Gemma X
Kristin - Oh my gosh – I hear that Michael Buble song and just laugh. I’m glad I’m not alone!!!
Debra - We have a bidet, what can I say? π
Julie - I pretty much need me some Tressant Supreme… Forget Electrolux appliances. The bidet! My sister in law lives in Europe and JUST DIES when she comes out to visit due to the extreme lack of bidets. Because apparently they change your life. Too much information, no?
