talby spent the week at my parents' house.
Category Archives: family funlauren was a camp all week.
i had only 3 kids for a couple days…such a change.
on friday i drove with 2 kids to pick up talby and stay overnight.
i took this shot of the sunflowers while driving 55 and not looking through the lens…funny.
as soon as we got to my parents' we went to the pool.
then some fabric shopping at my favorite shop…sarah's.
i loaded up on yummy pretty HAPPY fabrics for pillows!
i don't want to do anything but sit and sew.
when will that happen?
we found caterpillars in their yard.
my sister lorel was searching for more caterpillars for maya.
my parents' garden is getting destroyed by rabbits!
my mom even has a bb gun!
we ate a big yummy dinner.
then went out with my sister & my mom….ended up in a crazy bar with fake wind and snow inside.
we laughed and laughed.
my sister said i was a weirdo-magnet…it's true.
i got kissed by a stranger.
hugged by a different stranger.
it was a pretty wild night for this mama.
i took talby and sean school supply shopping.
why is that SO STRESSFUL???
and WHY do i bring them?
they don't need to be there…i could finish in a third of the time if they weren't there.
when will i learn?!
i bribed annie with a my little pony to keep her quiet…but still had to say many times
"please don't talk to mommy for a little while"
the kids got to go to garage sales with grandpa, which is such a treat!
on the drive home i realized halfway there that we were going to get to the sunflower field at sunset.
i smiled for the next hour.
they got out to see but annie stayed in the car…screaming her head off.
then the woman who lives here came out to introduce herself.
she was so nice.
i shared the blog address with her so she could see my interpretation of her beautiful flowers.
that one in front is a bit deformed…LOVE that.
then carolyn let the kids have a sunflower!
they picked the ones they wanted…they are so HUGE!
if that was my yard…behind sean on the right…i would have a big party on the lawn.
or a wedding.
or a baby shower.
the best backdrop in the whole wide world.
so that was my weekend.
now we are about to have company for dinner…i tried pioneer woman's potato salad.
we'll see how it turns out.
happy sunday.
sean has grown up much too much this year. he had another birthday.
i miss my happy chunky baby that would giggle non-stop.
he had a party with 3 friends and 3 of his siblings.
he had it all planned out and helped prepare everything.
sean is meticulous and a thinker/planner.
175 water balloons.
rainbow cupcakes.
balloons.
water guns and launchers.
the lego center.
pizza, hawaiian punch and watermelon.
the bonzai falls…thanks again russ and jen.
annie shouted something like "this is AWESOME!!" or "YAHOO i LoVe tHIS!" every single time.
jumping from the trampoline into the pool.
a water balloon fight.
and opening presents.
sean said to me in the middle of the craziness…"this is the best party of my whole life!"
just what i wanted to hear.
{{smiles}}
goofballs.
on his actual birthday we kept him happy too.
donut breakfast.
a movie.
when we got there i found out it was 3D so it cost more…i said "you are so lucky it's your birthday mr."
he picked what we had for dinner…and ate with a glass plate.
ice cream cake from dairy queen…his choice…he always wants to be different.
opened presents after cake.
(two of things i gave him… out of four…he already had. UGH! everything looks the same to me!)
nine.
can't really believe it.
his hugs bring me a feeling that i don't have with anyone else.
love that kid.
feel free to e-mail me back if you’d like.
Hi. My name is Becky. My mom is Carolyn. She has been so excited about the people stopping by to see her sunflowers. She made me type your link in and look up the pictures…I haven’t made it out to see them yet…but they are gorgeous. She just thought it was the best that you came by that day. She is telling everyone about it. Stop by again the next time you are that way. You should check her garden out at the house too. She has a lovely garden. take care. Becky
Can I copy that exact party for my birthday next month? Is 31 too old for water balloons and Legos? 🙂
LOVE this post. Our oldest is turning five in a few weeks, so of course, I’m planning and rethinking everything. I suddenly realized looking at your pictures and reading the captions, the ONLY thing I should be planning are things that bring him pure joy and happiness. Thanks for the wake-up call. xoxo Dang you! Now I want cupcakes and cinnabons. 🙂 That LOOKS like the best birthday party ever. I envy people with middle of the summer birthdays who get to have fun outdoor parties. End of Feb birthdays would only be fun in Hawaii. I beter work on moving there. I think it’s reason enough. What a nice big brother for letting his little sisters hang out too. Umm, is he available to plan my next Birthday Party?? 🙂
Ahhh! Naughty Nine – I hope he has a fun year!!! The photos make me yearn for summer… yearn!!! What great party plans! Everything just looks like so much fun. I’m wanting one of those rainbow cupcakes right now. 🙂
Looks like a wonderful 9th birthday. Happy birthday to your guy.
so cute, so fun, you are the best mom. Love it, love it all.
so……are you going to share the rainbow cupcake recipe on your sidebar?? 🙂 I have a little boy with a birthday on the 14th. He turned 3. Can I make him stay that age forever? They grow up too fast! It looks like you had a wonderful birthday party for Sean! Its fun to see what type of parties I might have coming to me in the future 🙂 Oh my gosh, the picture of all the kids with their waterguns–PRICELESS! That’ll be a favorite of all of theirs for years to come. I have one like that with my brother, sister, and the neighbor kids all lined up on a couch. I just love that photograph. Good job with the party! I have a quick question…Did you put all six colors of the colored cake batter in each cupcake and if so how much of each? I have made the cake but never thought of doing cupcakes and I like the idea of cupcakes. how did you frost your cupcakes and make them look so pretty?? did you pipe the frosting?? super post! love all the pictures, so colorful!! what a lucky boy! I love all of your pictures, they’re so inspiring!! I can’t wait until my little girl is old enough to help me plan her birthday parties =) that’s so sweet. Perfect. Summer. Birthday. He sounds like such a great kid and it’s even better when they appreciate everything so much like that. My oldest turns 7 in two weeks – where the heck does the time go?!
Summer birthdays are so much fun! Great pictures! We just had a birthday party for my 12 yr old daughter. We did treasure hunt and camp out. I wanted to follow the teams around the neighborhood on the treasure hunt with my camera but it was just me, so …
how fun! he looks so much like Craig in that last pic. You are such a fun mom! (Or you look like you are!) What a great party without breaking the bank! The pictures are GREAT! i can’t imagine my life without my little boy! at first i couldn’t imagine what i was going to do with one… now i just feel so lucky to have both a boy and a girl! great party and i love the lego station! I love the LEGO center! What a party!!!! I’m just curious…I LOVE the lego center idea….but with all the other fun water activities…I’m just guessing the legos got overlooked a little??? I love it that Sean helped with all the planning 🙂 He’s a cutie!! And sounds like a keeper 🙂 What a great photo diary of your family! I feel the same way about my family and can’t believe how fast time flies! oh, sweet sean. happy birthday again. adorable. those rainbow cupcakes look like so much fun! my oldest is named sean and he is also a very meticulous thinker/organizer (at 2!). looks like a super fun day!!
I love ice cream cake too and it was always what I picked growing up! 🙂 The ideas for a birthday are great too! Thank you for sharing your son’s special day! Made me smile! Oh by the way, I did a shout out on you today! I really do enjoy your blog! Looking at these pictures was quite a treat. I love the “goofball” picture. I am a third grade teacher and this age group is so fun! Thanks for sharing your family with us…they are beautiful! What a fun party! And…it looked like the gift he was opening was Mancala. 🙂 Our kiddos have loved that game for years and were just playing it again yesterday! What a sweet message to end the post with. Love to see a pic of you, too! Happy Birthday to Sean! Looks like an awesome time. My oldest turns 12 next week. And she’s already entered the grrr stage. The goofball photo was my favorite! That definitely looked like tons of fun and you did good obviously. The lego center was very cool. I love this blog…it’s definitely one of the coolest ones I frequent (stalk in a good way!) daily! What did he pick for his birthday dinner? Love this post!! What a beautiful day for you all!! The cupcakes were really nice and I love the lego center:) Don’t our babies grow up waaaay to fast??? Have a wonderful day.
Hi, my name is Cara and I started reading your blog about a week ago (had to go back and read everyone!) – I enjoy it so much!! I’ve got a little boy (2) and a girl (6) and live in Kommetjie (it’s a little village close to Cape Town, South Africa). I really enjoy your creativity – I love to make stuff but always have an excuse why not to make something – normally the kids is my excuse!! Our 3 week winter holidays is ending on Monday and then I’m going to start making stuff. Thanks for the inspiration.
What a lucky boy – lots of brownie points for Mum & Dad! That lego centre is a fantastic idea. What a happy, happy day for your precious boy (and for you too). Well done Mumma. Meredith xo. Looks like a perfect day!! (And is it just me, or does he look just like your hubby??) happy birthday — what a cutie, and the day seemed like a blast! OH, so happy! What a great birthday! Great job making memories!! i love the lego center! nice touch 🙂 ************************************************************************************************************************
i am pretty sure today is the last day. thank you for every single vote! Oh my gosh!! Our carnival pictures are similar on my latest post. Of course yours aren’t blurry and awkward. But hey that’s me, blurry and awkward. 😉 j/k I LOVE the picture of toes! positively polka dotted with envy over your all american fun! i am totally loving your pics!!! they make me want to go to the carnival!!! and i hate those spinning things. love it.
Do you know how old the boys were that you did the photoshoot of? They are adorable. I love the age difference. We have a two year old and are trying to figure out when we want to start TTC again!!! 🙂 Looks like so much fun! I love the painted toes 🙂 🙂 I just found you and I’m so HAPPY! Love the one of your son and his goggles – I imagine that’s what your hubby looked like at that age. Looks like an AMAZING holiday weekend. Hope you can recover from it all! 😉
all pictures, no words. fantastic. Awesome pictures! You are killing me with them, I really missed celebrating the 4th American style and your pictures are exactly my memories. 🙁 Maybe next year we will be home! And that was one weekend!!! Gotta love those dotty toes!
Oh what fun!!!! Alllll the pics are great…but man, I want some of those kabobs 🙂 YUMMY! Summer as it should be. Thank you for the beautiful photos! one more photo/blogging question…how do you put two pics next to each other? thanks again for all of your help. your blog is so inspiring! What fun! Looks like a blast! I’m new to your blog. Nice to “meet” you! Love the gorgeous photos! 🙂 looks like a wonderful time! I have those same black sparkle flip-flops!
An all American 4th of July…..can it get better?! Off to vote again! Lovely… it was a true 4th of July story, told just beautifully in pictures! Who did your toes? Was it done professionally? Super cute! Lovely… it was a true 4th of July story, told just beautifully in pictures! Who did your toes? Was it done professionally? Super cute!
These are great photos and they capture everything GREAT about summer! Thanks for sharing! great shots, the toes are my fav
Yea and Oh YUM! I love the polka dot toenail polish too. Kelly looks like a lot of fun was had by everyone! great photos – thanks for sharing them with us :O) Your pictures are so vibrant! Thanks for sharing you stories. I love how your pictures tell such an amazing story!! What fun! Such beautiful pictures! I would love for that pool too! I am jealous–can I be you yesterday? GREAT images!! Definitely captures a FUN day! I LOVE the kabobs… I want an invite next time! 😉 I just love your photography! Looks like everyone had a great time! Looks like so much fun! i love the fireworks in the street. and what i wouldnt do to be in that pool right now… *sigh* Looks like a very happy 4th. Love the toenail polish! we invited ourselves out to uncle gary and aunt janet's farm again. and they even cooked us dinner.
they are always so good to us.
we brought waffle…not a good idea.
their dog Ray is trained to fight off other dogs or stray animals on the farm…to keep it safe.
duh.
why didn't we think about that?
there was a minor dog fight…waffle was very confused about what the heck was going on.
but we got everyone settled and split up and everything was fine.
totally our fault.
we are still such babies at this dog owner thing.
anyway…the farm rocked.
like always.
lauren took off with my camera and explored the space.
(it was killing me…)
but look at all these awesome pictures she got….
gary has this very cool weenie roaster…cooks an entire package with one stick.
the corn was perfect.
and janet made a dessert that will probably make a blog appearance very soon.
sean was full of questions about planting, tractors and harvesting.
there were two baby kitties.
annie held (choked) them the entire time we were there.
i love the little meow of a tiny kitten…but not the claws.
janet had a scavenger hunt for the kids!
seriously….it was a page long and they ran from one end of the farm to the next over and over.
brilliant idea.
they were so into it.
janet you are too cool.
it is so calm out here.
green all around.
quiet…except the birds chirping…or an occasional rooster.
kansas is at it's most beautiful right now.
the wheat is up and swaying in the wind…the temps are low…everything is green.
i love it here.
sigh…..
Now I’ve got a serious case of missing home! I grew up in Kansas too! But left when I graduated from high school. It truly is beautiful! aw, reminds me of grandma’s on the edge of lehigh (haha, isn’t everything in lehigh on the edge of town?!). sigh.
Lovin’ Lauren’s pictures. She’s a natural! Let her borrow her camera more! omg, love the kitten chokehold picture – too funny. its posts like these that make me miss Kansas. And the peony flowers were lovely.
sounds like the perfect day! I think all kids need to experience farm freedom. People who make fun of Kansas or the midwest clearly dont have a clue!! I spent MANY fun summers on my aunt and uncles farm and LUUUUUUVED it. Isnt it GREAT to send your kids out and NOT worry about them????? Lauren did an awesome job of taking pictures. You guys are CA-RAZY for taking waffle..lol…we are taking a vacation soon and our fabulous boomer will stay home with a sitter..lol I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the choking kitty picture. What a great angle to match with a great story and expression. Incredible photograph… Oh, thanks for the pictures and reminders of home. I grew up in KS and left 6 years ago and now all I want to do is go back. You’re right, there is something about this time of year, before it gets so blazing hot. March through June are probably when I miss KS the most. (oh wait, when I’m driving in 2 feet of snow, THAT’s when I miss KS the most. 😉 Good to see the pics of rural Lehigh. Some of my best times as a kid are at hot dog roasts just like this one. We try to do several of these a year at my parent’s farm for the grandkids. Small events like this can leave lasting memories.
those kitten pictures are the cutest thing i’ve seen all day! Nothing like being out in the open like that! Looks like you all had fun. do the whack-a-kitty, whack-a-kitty. 😉
I want one of those kittens!
Still laughing about the kitten choke hold… Looks like everyone had a great time! I need a farm… Looks beautiful and peaceful there. I love the picture of your daughter holding I mean choking the kitten. Amazing pictures as always you are a talented Photographer. Have a wonderful weekend.
I found you on CoCo’s site and yes.. so fun! what a fun idea for the kiddos too to have a scavenger hunt!
that spells r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n! Good for you for taking the time to sit and visit with family like that! Simple, good.
It looks like such a great time! Lauren done an awesome job.
Awesome pictures! Made me feel like I was there. Agree that Kansas is at her best this time of year! We had “summer snow” from the cottonwood trees last week and it was kinda pretty! I’m originally from Kansas and spent my summers there with my grandparents. This post seems like a scene right out of one of those summers. It’s awesome to see how some of the best things never change.
we have visitors today and tomorrow. (above photo taken by lauren) my mom, sister and her family came to hear some music last night and hang out.
and at riverfest…some of our friends came too…it was a party….so loud!
good times.
i think the donut shop and a thrift store will be part of our friday.

Hi…My daughter (a budding photographer) and I enjoy looking at your blog…I love the pictures…so bright and colorful…I love reading your writing…so down to earth and humorous…so honest…I LOVE the fact that you used the term “whole fam damly”…my Dad said that all the time as I was growing up…LOVE IT!!! I live 3 hours from you…I am trying to talk my husband in to driving out there for pics sometime in the future. I hope it works! 😉
Ahhhhh, lady, you crack me up! Have a happy day out there! You’re coming this way?! North, South, or Central? Let me know if you need a break from that fam-damly and we can meet for coffee. And donuts, too. I’m easy. 🙂
Love Riverfest! Haven’t been for about 15 years!! Druber’s Donuts?? What a weekend. I’m so jealous!!! Going public on the offer for pictures…get ready for a crazy FULL inbox! You made a lot of people very happy with that post..way to go, congrats! I always have a donut in my future. Riverfest looks like a Blast. California has been Beautiful the last few weeks. Im sure you all will have a Great time. We have what they call June Gloom in June! What the Heck is that you ask? Kinda foggy, hazey weather, keeps it cool though. Have a Great weekend with your family, we have a few more weeks of school but it is coming so quickly. Jamie it’s lovely in california right now…it’s warm and sunny. so, set that iso to 100 on your camera! 🙂 hope you have a lovely weekend and a great visit to my part of the world! where in California? Will you come take my kids pictures??????? Wish I lived closer and you could take photos of my kiddos..I would so want to be hanging out with you…forgeting the things like moving up cermonies and laughing…You are a good Mom….You are funny when you are loopy and not so loopy. Enjoy
Your comming HERE to Cali, where are you visiting sorry if thats not appropriate to ask, I live in Orange County, but I grew up in Long Beach they have some great things to see if you are going to be near there, Aquariums, Historical Sites, the BEACH! I have some great recomendations if you need some even for great cheap food spots! I hope you have a great week and that the flight goes smoothly. Have fun on your trip. Can’t wait to see the pictures!
My mom used to say, “fam damily” all the time. Love it!
There are not enough hours in the day. Busy week…take a breathe, grab that donut and enjoy your company. Can’t wait to see the pics from California. I love California…so jealous:) Hi! I have never posted, but I have read your blog for awhile now. (I love it!) I just wanted to give a helpful hint for the plane ride to California. We just traveled there a few weeks ago with three kids ages 6 and under. The best thing was for everyone to wear slip-on sandals so in the crazy, hurry-up security line at the airport, where they made even the one year old take off her shoes, it is easier. =) Hope this helps! Ever thought about moving to the UK…? Schools don’t finish til nearly the end of July! 😉 Love your pictures – they are some lucky Kansans to be able to tap into your talent! Looks like a lot of fun. Flying with kids…good times. It’s so fun watching them experience things for the first time. Hope all goes well. Etsy…YAY! I was wondering if you were going to open it back up!!! I didn’t get to order anything last time, sorry. I’m saving up right now.
“fam-damly”…my mom used to say that all the time (and not at all inappropriate). She’s been gone for 17 years. Thanks for bringing the memory back. 🙂 Where & why are going to California? I LOVE California. We have been out there twice. Big Sur, Carmel, Santa Barbara, the wine country, San Francisco….it is all wonderful. Have fun.
the whole fam-damly….that makes me laugh. 🙂 We got your package…thanks so so much. 🙂 Let me know how much I owe you, you fabulous lady you! 🙂
One year the same thing happen to me except the last day was a half day and I forgot and never showed up to pick up my kid. Oops till I got a nice phone call at work where are you? So glad she is old enough to walk home!! Have fun in Cali!
we had our first campfire of the year this weekend.
annie was so ready.
she talked about it all day.
then just as it was time to start it got chilly so she went in for a jacket.
i had on pants and a sweater and my socks and slippers! i was cold.
we have many skilled marshmallow roasters.
can you believe craig can get waffle to stay in our yard with no leash?!
i can't do it….but he can.
after it got just dark enough the kids begged to play "Mallow Toss"
a game our kids made up….
they jump on the trampoline in the dark and we throw marshmallows at them.
they try to catch them and eat them.
i didn't say it was a safe game or a creative game,
but it is always a loud game!
i am happy that it's campfire weather again.
except for tonight…
it has been pouring for hours and the tornado sirens went off tonight…during our small group.
our entire small group had to go down to my nasty stinky basement!
that is some thing that really bothers me.
i tell people our basement is very Silence-of-the-Lambs-ISH.
it was…an experience?
never a dull moment.
I pretty sure smores are now in my near future. Tornado sirens too, maybe, based on our forecast.
Meg, I think that if we lived in the same place, we’d be very good friends. My husband and I are currently making plans for our own backyard fire pit. More and more in common. 🙂
I received my Cora pillow yesterday, thank you so much. I love it:) I love her little hood, she’s so serious with her marshmallow. 🙂 I have been craving smores so bad during this pregnancy! YUMMY, looks like fun.
Waffle is a brand new dog! Love the cut. Hmmmmmmm….yea, tornado’s. Um, yep …spent time in our basement Saturday evening. NOT fun.
Ps-I am so trying the Mallow game-my kids and hubby will love it!!!!!
awww, beautiful REAL photos! Nothing like a campfire with kids.
waffle with the haircut cracks me up every time!! That Waffle is smart dog. She knows when she has it good! Our doodle is just as smart. If she ever gets out of the back yard from an accidentally open gate or if one of the kids forgets and leaves her out front. She just comes and sits by our side door (attached garage on side of house = side door that is really your back door) and waits for us to realize she is there. She has never run off and we only leash her when we walk to the park, then take the leash off once we are done crossing roads etc. Such a good dog!
oh fun!!! i love waffles haircut!!! i got a recipe for “smookies” (smore cookies!!) you cant go wrong with marshmallows!!
We love campfires & making s’mores, too. Your photos are lovely. It’s wonderful to record those memories that you and your kids will treasure for a lifetime. I love those pictures. I want to roast a mellow right now!
so much fun…now i def wanna do a campfire tonight. do you hate how i always say that??? yummy!!! love smores. we always make them when we go too the cabin. the kids never get too old for them. we have the same kind of basement. i hate it too!! FUN!! We were going to do that this weekend too but it was too windy! 🙁 I have 1 pyro and 1 soon-to-be pyro in my family and much more in my extended family! 🙂 (I’m sure you can guess who that might be…) Oh and I was laughing (but didn’t tell anyone) at your response to my last comment! I understand… oh, so jealous! we wanted to have a fire this weekend and roast marshmellows, but it was just too windy! looks like you had lots of fun! What a fun evening- despite the weather scares. Um, did you bring s’mores for all of us? *looking hopeful*
Yum…smores!
oh magnificent joy! That makes two of us. Why did we want to grow up so fast again…?
amazing shots! omg SO cool!!! i often tell my husband i want to be three again lol (zoe seems to have way more fun than i ever did at that age?!)
this literally made my day.
LOVE these! Can you go back in time with me 11 years and document my children’s lives? Thanks, that would be great! I am right there with ya”
You could still do that… just not in a skirt! 🙂 Me too! Looks like she was having lots of fun! i feel like i’m right there with her! thanks for sharing!! great shots! 4 is coming up for us around here…. ME TOO!

Chelsea - I love Sarah’s on Mass! Probably the most extensive fabric store I’ve ever been to. Granted, I’ve only been to ones in Utah, Arizona, and now Kansas, but Sarah’s is my favorite by FAR!
julie - You make me want to move to Kansas. Please tell the sunflowers to hold out until September 20th.
Sara Cameli - Meg, the sunflowers are amazing…you have such a great eye. (eyes!) ha ha
alice - i wanna go next time! i love your sunflower shots – how gorgeous!
scrappysue - stunning photos
Ruth - amazing, beautiful sunflowers! i distinctly remember getting bribed with a my little pony at the doctors getting shots as a kid… but i still screamed, so no pony for me. scarred for life, huh 😉
Aubrey - your 55 mph pic makes me want an SLR more than ever and i resent that they’re out of my price range. 😉
i love all that fabric you bought–your taste is so cute and fun. somehow i manage to still come away from fabric stores with boring stuff–i guess i’m not very brave, but I’m working on it. 🙂
Christina - I love your commentary on your life!
And that field is absolutely stunning! Your pictures are wonderful.
Mary - What a post!!! Interesting and beautiful. What pictures!!!!
heather - i’m sure you get this all the time, but your photos are truly inspirational! having just moved from the mild climate and lush green of Wisconsin to the extreme climate and dead brown of far southern Texas, I find little these days to smile about. this post, however, cracked a smile and brought a little perspective to my less than sunny disposition. thanks. I look forward to stopping in to your blog more often!
cheers,
*heather*
Cate O'Malley - Love the sunflowers at sunset – so beautiful! Love the happy fabrics too! Sounds like a great weekend! (I think I use too many exclamation points, but so hard to give up)
Tonya - where is this sunflower field?
Hannah - I LOVE the sunflower pictures!
I came across your blog a couple of months ago and I’m just now getting around to commenting, haha. I love your pictures, they are so full of life!
Kasey - Gorgeous photos!
mom - What – You mention that I have a B-B gun, but don’t mention the trap??? Ha!
If I come across an “Owl” T-shirt, I’ll be sure to get it for you. Ho Ho Ho!
Julia - If I send a self addressed stamped envelope do you think you could send those sunflowers to me?
Aunt Becky - Lovely pictures! You make me want to be a better photographer.
Also? Congrats, yo. I won for best humor and you? You deserve it for eye candy. Because this is exactly what your blog is. Eye Candy. Rock on.
Linda - I love the sunflowers and that your able to take pictures of the kiddos with them. Here in Texas,we take pictures of the bluebonnets fields when they are blooming. Love them all!!!
Dani - I love Sunflowers! Absolutely beautiful pictures! I’m jealous that there are no fileds around here. I’d be there every morning when the sun rises to thank God for all His wonderful works!
Christy - Awesome, awesome pictures! The sunflowers are HUGE!
I LOL about the My Little Pony bribe & the don’t talk to mommy. Sometimes I think I come to work for a break. 🙂
Michelle B - love the sunflowers! Wish we had them in Iowa. I have only found corn 🙂
Wendy - Wonderful pics, Meg. Again…. you brighten my morning. 🙂 Thanks.
Laura Phelps - I want YOUR weekend. Mine was uninspiring, and I hate that.
I also am missing my sisters so much.
Be so grateful you are close to family.
I regret moving from mine so much
yet have to believe
that this is a path God put me on
and I need to trust in Him and that it will lead m to where I need to be
And that now…even so far..I am exactly where He needs me.
Sarah - The school supply shopping…I know how you feel…PLEASE stop talking so my brain can interpret some information, kids! I finally got smart (it took years and years of re-learning the lesson) and take one kid out at a time and throw a stop for icecream or lunch or ANYTHING in on the way. It’s just too much stuff…5 kids X a jillion things they need + the end of summer vacation = major breakdown by mom in Target.
Emily - gorgeous pictures! thanks for the reminder to always keep a camera handy and an eye open for great moments!
Logan - The sunflowers are wonderful!!! I enjoyed the pictures you took the other day, but these are even better. Please tell Annie that we missed seeing her smiling face with those of her brother and sister.
Rebekah - “Please don’t talk to mommy for a while.” Too funny. 🙂 And I can totally relate!
Debra Cripps - Hi
I just finished reading through your blog. You are the sweetest mom I have seen in a long time. Your children are gorgeous! My two girls are in their mid twenties now but I remember having all the same thoughts and feelings as you are now. You are not alone! I love your photos and love your love of colour! The best part is that you love God! I’m so glad I found your blog.
Hugs from Debra up in Canada
Renee - I love your posts. They make me feel like I’m not completely messing up this motherhood thing (like when you told Annie not to talk to you anymore — that’s totally something I would say!). Your pictures are so beautiful. Great story, too. xoxo
Anna Marie - Beautiful photos Megan! I also have a BB gun…got it for Christmas from my husband in fact :o) I use mine for raccoons, opossums and mean cats and dogs. It works! 😉
Take care and have a great day!
traci - wow meg, what a great weekend. love all the sunflowers. they are so beautiful!! i need to go check and see if ours are looking that good. i think the boys planted some.
Dana D @BoysMyJoys - The pictures are beautiful!
And the fabric… I can’t wait to see what amazing creations will be in your shop soon!
Love the camo- don’t all boy mamas?
Any chance you’ll decide to make camera straps out of any of that fabulous fabric? I’d be first in line to buy one!
Vicki - I just wanted to let you know I follow your blog and love your pictures. I don’t remember how I got over here (from who’s blog) but your pictures are always so amazing.
I just had to tell you that your sunflower pictures brought a huge smile to my face. I LOVE sunflowers (have a tattoo of one) – they are my favorite think to see. How I wish I could have stood in that field!! Thank you for sharing these pictures – I just loved them!!!
Leah - The rabbits are starting to nibble on our vegetable garden too! Darn little bunnies! I love that your mom has a bb gun for them! When i was about 10 I had a bb gun with a scope. Well, my dad said if I shot a bird we could eat it for dinner. Well, I spent all day outside trying to shoot a bird. I finally got one and it was the saddest thing ever. I will spare you the details. Anyhow, I was proud of myself and took it to my dad. I was crushed when he said we couldnt eat that kind. I didn’t know he meant quail and not any old cactus wren. I cried my eyes out and buried the poor thing. Thats I dont think I can bring myself to shoot a bunny…even if its taking a bite out of my garden. Im sure the men wont bat an eye though 😉
Sheryl - Loving your pictures, as usual!
Whitni - These pictures are so lovely. I did a tiny mention of you in my post today, just giving you heads up 🙂
I hope you find time to sit and sew, I would love to take sweet little Annie off your hands for a while but well you live in Kansas and I live in Georgia! Ha!
Hope you have a great week!

Christy - 1 – LOVE the new header picture.
2 – Thanks for posting the caterpillar pictures. We had a field of milkweeds across the street from our house growing up and I used to spend all summer playing house with those caterpillars. I showed my 14 year old daughter and she said – who needs dolls when you have caterpillars?
3 – I saw you won Best Eye Candy Blog in the BlogLuxe Awards. I thought – WELL OF COURSE! Your blog and PW’s are the 2 I most look forward to every day. I love looking at your pictures. Especially the ones of your kids. I love your perspective. Do you crop them like that or is that just how you take them?
4 – How did the bar do fake wind and fake snow?
Amber - Wow. I’ve never seen a sunflower field like that before. Of course I’ve never been to Kansas either. 😉 Have a great day today!!
Amber
Heather - I would love to hear what you think of that potato salad recipe. I usually love Pioneer Woman’s Recipes, but the “mashed potato” salad seemed a little odd to me 🙂
P.S. The sunflowers and your kids are both gorgeous!
anna - i love the rows and rows of sunflowers. so pretty. my favorite time of day during the year is when the sun is setting in the late summer/early fall. i love the way the sun makes all the green crops golden. oh my goodness. that is a glimpse of heaven to me. (i grew up on a farm, so it also reminds me of home.)
