Craft Weekend #14…lovely ladies!

our group came from california, texas, colorado, maine, virginia, nebraska, connecticut and arizona.
it’s super fun to get to meet and host so many wonderful, creative women every month.

we made ruffley aprons. we got to know each other. we ate kimberlee’s YUMMY food.

we drank margaritas. we ate cheesecake. we had coffee at night. we stayed up LATE.

we went to a barn sale at a dairy farm. we shopped for antiques and junk.

we had show-n-tell. we made fun new craft projects.

we ate pasta with creamy sauce and dipped our garlic bread in the extra sauce (i did at least).

we crafted some more. we ate bread pudding with carmel sauce. it was CRAZY GOOD.

we went to bed even later. we ate incredible cinnamon rolls for breakfast with our antiques deliveryman.

we took pictures. we gave hugs. we dropped off 11 of our 14 guests at the airport.

it was an AWESOME weekend!

Michelle from Australia - I’m going to be positive and say WHEN I come to Craft Weekend, I’m going to go CRAZY buying quilts. Quilts are not as popular in Australia as they are in the USA but I’ve always LOVED them. So I may have to pay a lot in excess baggage getting my treasures home but wow, what amazing memories of a superb adventure they will be. Being positive works doesn’t it??

Craft Weekend #14

this was a pretty awesome group of women.
and they are late nighters!

my kids just got on the bus and i am headed back to bed to sleep the rest of the day.
i will tell you all about our weekend soon.
but right now i can barely keep my eyes open.

i wanted to share with you a beautiful piece of art that Lori Danelle made for me.

it is cut paper!

every detail is so delicate and perfect.
i love seeing how each line is connected… SO creative.

she hand cuts all of this!!

she made this for me based on this post i wrote back in september.
i had had a very bad day related to parenting and this verse was the hope i was clinging to.

isn't Lori's work absolutely stunning?
can you even imagine how long this would take her?!
it is AMAZING.

Love never fails.

i really think that i need this print at my house.

lucky number 13.

how can we be at thirteen craft weekends already?!
each one has been so much fun!

we get the house all set up for our guests to arrive.
we clean… organize… arrange… set out swag from our sponsors… and we get excited!

craft supplies are so pretty!

color is everywhere in the Craft House.

my shop is open during Craft Weekend too… and SOON to be back online.
i have been saying it for a year but for real… it's coming soon!

our guests arrive and kimberlee prepares our meal.
we pass out margaritas while everyeone gets to know each other….have you made these margaritas yet??

steph and daina drove all the way from canada!!
they asked if they could make their special pico de gallo and we let them go crazy.
it was delicious!

after dinner we get right into crafting because really…. why wait?!
it is what we are all together for right?
they begin on their aprons around 7:30…and finished by 2:30 AM.
night owls in this group.

choosing the fabric is the hardest part of making the apron!

debbie finished hers VERY quickly…a very experienced seamstress!
and she whipped up her pretty flower too.
she was FAST!
i LOVE her fabric choices!

kimberlee always makes BIG breakfasts that are beyond delicious.
i am all for chocolate in the morning!
and frosting on cinnamon rolls…. oh my.

after all 16 of us get ready for the day… that is a lot of women…
we head out for our field trip to our favorite store and the barn.
it's fun to ride ALL together like a school trip.

talby happened to be playing her final basketball game that day in Marion at the same time we were shoppping so i snuck out and cheered her on! I was so happy to get a peek at my family in the middle of CW.

then i was picked up on the way to the barn.
i can't ever get over how much they have every single month.
i am a junking addict.

Oggie and Dennis run the store and barn and are fun to catch up with every month.
that is Oggie with steph and daina…. what a bunch of characters!

i love sharing my favorite place with all these women!

everyone did a little show and tell when we got back to the craft house.

everyone finds treasures.

i found this.

it was a no-brainer.
when you find something that is this perfectly your style… you almost HAVE to say yes.
yellow? chippy paint? working doors, shelves and drawers? turquoise ON THE INSIDE?
there was no way i was saying no to this.

i can't wait to fill her with craft supplies.
i think i will name her Sunny.

we got on some comfy clothes and got back into crafting.

shannan led a canvas project… we made infinty scarves, wire words, t-shirt flowers and wood bunting.

when they are all working and chatting and creating….this room is A M A Z I N G.
it is such a happy place.

we had A LOT of instagrammers at this craft weekend working the #whatevercraftweekend hashtag.

this is my canvas project in the middle…. and i actually started this canvas 6 months or so ago with ashley ann.
finally finished it at THIS craft weekend.

what started as a "let's try it ONE time to see if we like it" has turned into this wonderful, JOYful job
that both kimberlee and i are loving every minute of.
what started as a weekend of making crafts has turned into helping women find their creativity again.
giving them an opportunity to BE CREATIVE… to rest…. to refresh their spirits.

craft weekend is my fave.

alrighty… i have made it home from Haiti.
it was a super quick trip to meet some of the stove vendors and see how it all is working IN the field.
my trip was lovely.
i will share my pictures and stories at the end of the week.

i stupidly left my phone in the car of one of the girls living in haiti so i am without a phone for awhile.
feels like i am missing a limb.
somehow though i think will survive…. ha!

and now…. Craft Weekend January 2013!

a new year begins for Craft Weekend.
it is pretty exciting to me.
we have some pretty big plans for the Craft House and Craft Weekend this year.

we brought in a new piece for supplies….it's from the barn.
it is so COOL!
it was from a post office but i am sure it is much happier living at the craft house now.
it was a pain to clean but i am loving it!
i want to paint it…. although i never have time.

lindsey helped me set up my shop on the stairway…. so adorable!
she is so good with displays!
and a new/old map is up in the foyer making me happy every time i walk by.

we were ready a little bit early this time (YAY!!)

our guests arrived and the party was officialy under way!

after dinner we got busy on our aprons.
i am always so interested in watching how they choose.
some are done right away and some are still deciding an hour later.

🙂

ironing, hemming, pinning, sewing…almost done.
i love the sounds of 6 sewing machines going at once!

they were all done earlier than any group has been!
that doesn't mean it was early, but it was earlier than the previous groups.
and i am fine with getting a little more sleep.

on saturday we took a COLD field trip out to Marion to our favorite shop, Bearly Makin' It.
it was crazy cold.
craaaazy.

tere had a jeanne oliver bag!
so cute.

i always like to see what people gravitate to at the store… the quilts? the books? glassware?

after a sonic break we made it home to get crafty again.

these girls were fast workers!
most of our projects get quite messy.
if you are going to make a mess it may as well be a pretty one right?

i found another 7up crate at the barn (and then quickly got back in the van before i froze to death)

Lindsey led a project that she has posted about on her blog before.
it was so fun to make!! i LOVED it!!

i want to make a huge one now. :)

joy led a project that let us use hammer and nails for the first time at Craft Weekend!

its fun to get a little noisy!
(actually it was A LOT noisy…kind of unreal how loud it was!)

my canvas before i started with bright colors.
we used canvases and paint sponosered by DecoART!
we love thier products!

my friend wendy of blue lily photography came for friday & saturday to take a ton of photos for us.
i was so happy to have extra time with her!
she squeezed us in before she took off her World Tour with Tyler and her kids.
i am so grateful!

here's the whole gang!
such a lovely group of women…. i miss you girls!

kimberlee and i pretty much have the best jobs ever!
we love serving all these women and guiding them as they create alongside their new friends.
somehow i have no photos this past month of all the YUM-O food she prepared.
i was too busy shoveling it in my mouth apparently.
her meals are just the best…prepared so thoughtfully…taste so GOOD!
i am so grateful for everything she does at Craft Weekend.

but it's really too fun to be called work for us both!

what is your favorite part of craft weekend when you read about it?
