when i have lots of work to do…i can't seem to concentrate on anything.
…………………………………………………………………………..
this morning i was thinking about THIS a lot.
that is such a good memory.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
there is so much laundry that it is depressing and overwhelming.

sean gets braces today on his bottom teeth….poor baby.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
this blog is so pretty.

annie had an accident at church but i thought she was just "feeling" sick.
so when i thought she was better i put her down from holding her….
and her dress and MY DRESS had poop on it!
and not just a little bit.
how gross is that?!
we did NOT stay for the rest of church!
it's sooooo glamourous being a mommy.
************************************************************************************************************************
i want to see this movie.…craig doesn't. SHOCKING.
————————————————————————————————————————-
————————————————————————————————————————
we almost had a fire in our dishwasher last night…it smelled awful.
======================================================================================
i have a new favorite ground coffee. it's the target brand…archer farms…FUDGE BROWNIE.
yum. yum. yum.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i made cinnamon rolls for friends who were having a hard week.
my last pan had not been delivered and i walked through the kitchen and one roll was missing!
craig admitted to eating it.
he said "it's ok…you can still give it to them…they will understand!"
then we went to church and waffle ate the whole pan of cinnamon rolls that were left!
not cool waffle.
————————————————————————————————————————
i really do miss scrapbooking. i need to have a week where i dedicate all my time to it.
because i think i would need at least 2 days to get my groove back.
and then i wouldn't want to stop for a few more days after that.
i really like her style. and hers too.
and she has always been my favorite.
***************************************************************************
***************************************************************************
i got my shots yesterday for africa.
on my third one i looked at her and said "OH…i feel funny."
and i almost passed out.
she had me lie on the couch and then i started to cry.
i said "i don't know why i am crying…i can't help it…i am fine…i'm so sorry"
she told me it was normal (i never know if they are telling you the truth when they say you're normal!)
_______________________________________________________________________________________
does anyone know of a good blog post that helps explain HOW to make a button for blog ads?
i am trying to help explain it to people but i really don't feel good at it.
i am sure one of you tech savvy women know how to explain it.
Anne Marie - I spent several months giving flu shots and I promise you, they’ve seen much crazier. (: A man once fainted AND lost his pants at the same time!
Diana - LOVE Waffle. {I would’ve helped him slurp up those rolls, too, had I been there.}
Ugh, I live scrapping since that’s what I design… sorry, sometimes I’m overwhelmed.
I feel for you, crying at the doctor’s with the shot. Soon this will all be past and you will be serving God in Africa!
Hang in there, Meg!!
*ding dong* Normal calling!
♥
Karen - There’s so much to comment on in your post, but I’ll keep it short. This could be a beneficial link to you for creating and adding buttons:
http://coffeeteaphotography.blogspot.com/2010/01/blogger-unwrapped-adding-top-button.html
katie - you make me smile…all the time.
gina - with everything on your mind it’s no wonder you had a few tears- you just needed a release. And going to Africa is huge and I’m sure overwhelming- no matter the intentions.
a thorn among roses - oh meg, normal is sooooo overrated!
Rebekah - What a pretty picture of you. 🙂
jeanne - This post just made me smile from beginning to end. It is like I was sitting in your kitchen drinking a cup of your new yummy coffee:-) I think I should take a road trip to Kansas this summer…maybe take a side trip to see you on my way to my parent’s home in Illinois:-)
alyssa - Oh, I am so sorry for stopping you and making you talk at church! I had no idea that was the mess you were dealing with! If it helps, you guys didn’t smell, at all!!
Shelley in SC - I love this random post where every thought that’s pouring through your mind gets recorded. Isn’t this just typical of the mind of a mom. So good to have one place to just get it all down : )!!
Melanie - When we were moving from Florida to Kentucky back in November, we were rear ended while sitting at a light. I had to fly back to Florida to meet the movers so the next day I went to the ER to make sure that I was okay. (just to have documentation if anything happened later) Anyway, I was tired, hungry, and sick of waiting at the ER (4 hrs. and counting) and when they put me back in the room, I started crying and crying and I couldn’t stop. I completely had a meltdown. It was 3 months worth of stress coming out of me. I was still crying when the doctor came in and I told him that I was okay blah, blah, blah. I was glad my poor husband was in Kentucky and not with me. I felt like a basket case. Don’t feel bad for crying. We all do it and we all feel bad for doing it. I felt like a new woman after crying for 45mins. LOL.
AmberLee - your blog is super. so excited to find you. and so sorry about the cinnamon rolls!
Tere - Thank you for sharing. It makes me feel normal.
p.s. I made your Best Chocolate Chip Cookies tonight. Note to self. It’s 1 cup of shortening NOT 1 cup of shortening AND 1 cup of butter. Will try again soon.
Amanda - I must have seen you on Sunday *before* Annie got sick. I like it when you say hi to me. I feel like I’m in the presence of a celeb. 🙂
Your mission trip will be great. I’ve been on many, and each one has it’s own memories.
Oh, I’ll see V-Day with you if you need a buddy. It looks like a really good movie.
I’m sorry but I let out a laugh when I read what Waffle did. He’s just so cute I don’t think he can ever do anything wrong! 😉
Heather Giustino - You do have a lot on your mind! I hope your week has something great in store, and that you see “Valentine’s Day” with your daughter – as long as this baby doesn’t come too early I’ll be seeing it with my mom!
{And I’ll be picking up that coffee tomorrow!}
DreamGirlLisa - I want to see that movie, too. It sounds like you need a break, and that movie would probably be perfect. Sometimes just getting away from our problems and/or everyday chores for a couple hours in a movie theater does wonders. I’m due for one myself. Motherhood is grand, isn’t it? but, can you imagine your life any other way???
Hang in there!
linda lou - my other comment i don’t have a spell check sorry. about scrapbooking i met with 4 other girls once a month from 9am to 4pm and bag our lunch and of course we talk alot but we do get some scrapbooking done….believe it not!!
lindalou
linda lou - cute photo of you Meg!! i think next week will be bad for me so go ahead and bake my cinnon rolls and lagana also(:
blessings.
linda lou (amy d mom)
carissa... brown eyed fox - the laundry NEVER ENDS does it.
i had oh… a couple hours last week where it was done…. all done… freak of a great thing!
of course until the hubby walked in the door & did his normal routine of dumping of his suitcase after the week gone. oh hi hon! 🙂
there are times i read your blog and think… i mean REALLY could she be any funnier? no!
love your humor & real heart!
hate that you had to be pooed on! 🙂 girrrrrrl! no wonder you cried getting your shots! 🙂
Lisa - The cinnamon rolls…my husband did the same thing a couple of weeks ago! What is the deal with that anyway? But poop on the dress – that may have just made my day 😉
The Little Red Shop - Mmmm…your poopy church experience is now etched on my brain, thank you. : ) Susan, from Between Naps on the Porch recently did a blog post with all sorts of wonderful advice including, I believe, a link to how to make your own blog button. I hope that helps!
: )
Julie M.
candace - Scrapbooking somehow completely engages my ADHD to its full debilitating tendencies.
Your freckles are fun!
marci - um, meg. i blog stalk you and the pictures of your house inspire me every time i look at them….so i linked up to your page and stole the picture of you off of your about me so that people could see who i was sending them over to covet.
please don’t sue me…
you are a rockstar btw!
Jeanelle - I think this is my first time commenting. Love you, love your blog, love random posts! Your story about Annie reminded me of the time my younger sister threw up on me during church when she was little. I was like 17 and happily got to leave early too.
Tammy - OMG – We almost had a fire in our dishwasher last night, too!
Bec - I have really skinny veins so I about pass out every time I have to have blood drawn so I know the feeling- I think we all just know it isn’t fun to get shots and then when it makes us feel gross, it gets overwhelming.
julia - have you seen Leap Year – it’s a wonderful chick movie. i was thinking of asking some girl friends to see the Valentine movie with me.
I think Ashley Ann’s post says it all.
Ashley Ann - I like you.
Melissa Gruber - i feel the same way as you do! i have so many things i want to get done…the list is so long and overwhelming for me. the every day to day stuff is hard to keep up on these days…our schedule is so busy and i think that is why i can’t seem to get things done…not even hours in the day.
i need to work on my scrapbooks too…i would love a week to work on them…i know i would get into them and not want to stop, but having an hour here and there, just doesn’t not help get them done!
i hope your day is getting better…i wish i could help with the button…i having my wonderful designer make it for me…should have it tonight.
if i find any tips on making one, i will let you know.
Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - I love your randomness.
I wish I knew about the button. I had mine made from Kevin and Amanda for about $20.00. So worth it in my opinion.
I think you cried with the shots because you are nervous. You mentioned that the other day. It’s okay, I would be too. You are so brave!
Loved the post about U2. Did you know I love the Black Eyed Peas and Fergie? Our dog is named after her:o Have to admit, I could never go to a concert, because I hate swearing! I can censor that stuff when it’s at home.
I’ll have to try that coffee. Since I’m doing the no sugar thing that may help take the edge off a little:)
Messy@Bungalow'56 - Can’t wait to hear about the buttons. Love your blog format and will use it as a yardstick for my own. A very happy visitor, who will come back with her cup of coffee more often than I should.
Lori McDonough - As we stood on the altar at our church during our son’s Christening (he had been fully emmersed, so he was naked, and wrapped lightly in a white towel), he proceeded to poop and saturate the white towel while the priest held him. I was mortified. Gives new meaning to the phrase “holy sh*t”. 🙂 I just blogged last week about hating the laundry, too: http://freshpickedwhimsy.typepad.com/fresh_picked_whimsy/2010/01/a-day-in-my-life.html
barbara - on new year’s day, we nearly had a fire in our dishwasher— there was a turkey bone that ended up in there! boy, did the kitchen smell naaaaasty. love your blog, so cheerful and sweet.
christi - love this random post!! your blog is pretty!! and it is normal to pass out and cry when you get shots.
take a look at this one … i found it helpful.
http://www.musingsofahousewife.com/2009/03/how-to-design-a-blog-button.html
Leah - Yeah…the poop thing…at church…gross. What a good Mom you are tho! Also, I know your going to be nervous and scared about the missions trip. But really…you will have an amazing time! I just went on my first missions trip in November…I was scared. Scared of non-flushing toilets, baskets next to the toilet where you put your USED toilet paper, bucket showers, being on a contruction missions trip when I know nothing about construction, and Im a girl, having to eat beans and eggs every morning, and lots of other things. But…it was so fun and I didnt want to come home. So not like me! I cant wait to go back. God really does know what he is doing! Not that this will change anything for you…but maybe it will comfort you for a second!
Jennifer - Oh, goodness–I found this blog & now I will never leave. Sorry, you’re stuck with me.
I’m about 4 years behind in all my scrapbooking, if that makes you feel any better…but it probably won’t.
And YES, your blog is soooo purdy!
elisa hernandez - I hate laundry too. We have a house of 8 and I can’t miss a day. You and I are on the same page about scrapbooking. I took an entire year off because of family crisis and now I don’t know how to jump back into it. I think it’s wonderful that you are going to Africa, and I wish you the best up there. You will come back so blessed. Have a great day.
paige - i totally flopped & fell right off the scrapbooking wagon myself
&
i can NOT muster up the creative energy to get back on
i sit her typing beside an entire ‘craft’ table full of supplies…
oh please
maybe if you jump back on the wagon
i too can be inspired
Christina - That is a great picture of you.
I am totally on that laundry page. It’s neverending, isn’t it? Even when the regular stuff is done there is all the bedding, then the blankets/throws that the kids like to put all over the floor (I don’t like to then put them on me!), plus the bath mats upstairs. Goodness, they never get washed. Gross.
Have kids, get pooped on. Not glamorous…but there are other rewards. Right?! 🙂 Also makes for good stories later. Sorry about that though. Pretty yucky moment. My baby (different from big kid, I know.) pooped on me at a friend’s wedding. All the way down my new white linen skirt. It was awful. My friend’s parents lived right across the street though, and I went over there in the middle of the wedding, washed my stuff, borrowed some of her old clothes (quite a feat, she was super tiny and I had just had a baby!), and went back in time to see them greeting everyone after the wedding. And do you know that a long time after that I realized that I left the bag with the poopy diaper at her parents’ house! Oh dear. Does that make you feel a little better?
You are so normal. So very normal. 🙂
Suzanne - Your Waffle story was funny! One time my lab Levi ate 11 assorted doughnuts that we thought were out of his reach. The really funny part was one was a cherry filled type and apparently he didn’t like the cherry and squished it out on the kitchen floor and ate the rest of the doughnut. Only bad thing was we were driving from Oklahoma to Houston the next day and just north of Ft. Worth he yakked all over. He is still infamous to my nephews as the doughnut eating machine!
Dana D @BoysMyJoys - I miss scrapbooking, too! I felt more centered when I made time to scrap. But, now I think I’d have to give up sleep to fit it in our schedule. ugghhh!
I’m thinking of trying out Becky Higgins’ new digital version of Project Life ( http://www.beckyhiggins.com/projectlife ) with my 365 pics and see if that helps me get my creativity flowing again.
If the button I made and sent to you last night worked, this is how I figured out how to make it: http://www.2createawebsite.com/build/html.html
(almost at the bottom of the page there is a section labeled “creating a clickable image”)
If it didn’t work, then oooops! 🙂 Looks like I may need more help!
Mother Runner - I’m with you.
I have a crazy busy week this week – but next week I have nothing. Why do I do that to myself?
And I’m crying Meg. Me. Weird.
B doesn’t care about the movie either…
Sarah @ Clover Lane - I think there is a bug going around…I picked up my little guy from school with the same problem last week. Not too pretty.
I have been waiting for that movie for months.
Lindsay - My Wembley dog destroyed a bottle and ate the Dramamine from it last night… turns out he’s ok (they can have a little apparently), and he slept well…
although he probably would have preferred a cinnamon roll.
Immyyas - Loved your post today. How cool was that U2 concert!!! The poop/church incident made me laugh sorry… only because it has happened to me a few times too. : )
Quinn - I’m going to africa with my high school this year, and just got my yellow fever needle.
For.. a week straight I felt like I had the flu.
PLUS MY ARM WAS SO SORE!
sarah - I want to see Valentine’s Day also. I’ve already told Hubby to be prepared, because we ARE going. Especially since he’ll be on business on Valentine’s day… he’s gotta make it up to me at some point, right?!
I need to scrapbook also. I’m now 2 years behind on Kenzie. And I never did my wedding scrapbook either. Got a box full of stuff for all of it, and just never get around to actually sitting down and getting it done. Like you, I think I’d need an entire week of it.
Catherine - Meg…did you get the link I sent you this morning on the button tutorial? I am still having some email issues— not just yours. But I don’t see where that one was returned. Thanks!
Lane - Thanks for the pretty blog links! I want to see that movie too….my husband saw the preview and said “wow, there are a lot of people in that movie!” I took it as maybe he’d be interested in going with me! 🙂 hahah….I found this link from Little Miss Crafy Pants via Crap I’ve Made….it’s actually the best tutorial I’ve found, hope it helps!
http://everydayisasupersaturday.blogspot.com/search/label/How%20to%20make%20a%20Button%20for%20your%20blog
Christy - Oh my! Cracking up about Waffle. I know it wasn’t fun at the time but whew.. that reminds me of my parents Pug. They had left a hardee’s cinnamon raisin biscuit on the table for my brother when he woke up. It was in the little box it comes in and a brown paper bag. Needless to say my brother happened to be walking down the stairs as the dog had gotten on top of the kitchen table. And and ate Everything the cardboard box the paper bag and the cinnamon biscuit of course.
Susan - We almost had a fire in our dishwasher once as well. A wooden spoon fell out of the rack on to the coil. I could smell wood burning and I thought the house was on fire. I was about to call 911 when I discovered the problem. Yes, it smelled awful!
karen - BAHAHAHA!! Oh Waffle! bad dog! Reminds me of my Wembley!
Stephanie @ Bona Fide - Great post…I didn’t want it to end!
You should definitely take Lauren to the movie with you. My 15 year old and I love our occasional movie dates.
Katie - Naughty puppy…even the best dogs have bad days. Mine ate a whole pizza off the counter once…it happens. I wish you luck with your laundry! I am in the same boat. Its a love hate relationship. 😉
Mindy - I think getting distracted sometimes when completely overwhelmed is a good thing. I’m glad you wrote it out for us other mommies. Deep breath… you’ll get through it!
Chris Kauffman - That movie looks so fun , I would go with you , MEN!
it is not uncommon for people to pass out from shots don’t feel bad , all them chemicals swirling around at once , can mess with you a little .
H-Mama - i want to see that movie too. thanks for the recommended scrapbook sites! great page ideas! i miss it too.
button tutorial? not sure, but i came across this… http://www.mamakatslosinit.com/2010/01/blog-tips-how-to-make-your-own-blog-button/
hope that helps you!
Sharla - Thanks for sharing all of this – I love to see what you like and know that these kinds of things happen to every (good)mom.
Rebecca Ragan - Dear Meg…I have been on a trip to Africa, but I was in Malawi on a research project team through the business school I attended. I hated getting my shots, too…but, since there is no question they are needed, there are few if any options…but, you do have options for malaria pills (assuming you will have to take them where you are going). Mind you, I went in 2004, so things might have changed…but if not, take the more expensive pills, Malarone (sp?). My roommate did not, but I was still on my parent’s insurance at the time, so I did. She would wake up in the middle of the night screaming “Becca, Run!” in a horrific voice because she was having another psychedelic nightmare from her malaria pills. She would wake up the next morning and tell me about her dreams. Elephants in rainbow colors dancing above her in her mosquito net, and of course bad guys chasing…me. If you have a choice, it is really so much better for your sanity and those you travel with! 🙂 I can’t remember what her pills were called, but they are basically the same thing they gave the American soldiers in Vietnam, and one of the side effects is bad, but often realistic dreams.
You are going to have a life changing experience. I know I will never be the same after experiencing six weeks in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia. If you have a chance to go on Safari, it too is life changing, but in a different way. God is so good…and SO creative!
All my best…what are your dates of travel, and what specifically can I pray for???
Becca
Courtney Walsh - Ok, we have some of the same favorite scrappers!! I haven’t scrapped in sooo long. ugh. I am missing it too!!
Oooh, also I discovered the Archer Farms coffee last week and I bought Pumpkin Pie Spice kind. Super good.
If ya like that sort of thing. And I do. 🙂
Have a great one! How’s the sugar fast going??
Rachel - Nice post! Lots of interesting turns and laughs!
Laura Phelps - I will bet you a tray of cinnamon rolls that my laundry is more depressing than your laundry right now!
I ALWAYS pass out with shots and giving blood
and I will see that movie with you
Lindy - Poor Annie and lucky Waffle. Hope they are both feeling better, as I’m sure Waffle might have had a tummy ache after a panful of cinnamon rolls! Hope the rest of your week is on an upward turn.
p.s. I’m with you about the shots. God bless you for making this trip, you brave girl!
Kelly - I get the same way when there’s tons of stuff going on. It’s way too hard to concentrate. Like right now, the guts of my disgusto laundry room are all over the kitchen because my husband finally hung up the new shelves last night and I just don’t know where to start to get it all back in. So what a better place than blogland with coffee? 🙂
I’ll go see that movie with you! My husband would never go either.
Your post made me smile today. Thanks! 🙂
Heather @ Cookie Mondays - My week just plain sucks, too. Probably next week also.
Feel better 🙂
Maybe make more cinnamon rolls and eat some this time.
Lisa - I can’t wait to see the Valentine’s movie. And SO glad my hubby wants to see it, too. For the last few years, he said work and life are so intense, he just enjoys kicking back and watching “happily-ever-after” kinds of movies (with the occasional action movie thrown in). Yea for me!!
C - I stumbled upon your blog when I was having a bad day (ok, week) and just couldn’t tear myself away.. your house/family look so fun! I’ve been reading your archives during my baby’s naps.. love all the colors. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this blog.. it really is so beautiful.
Also, we had a similar dishwasher-oh-what’s-that-smell disaster last week. And an almost completely melted bottle in the bottom.. oops!
Kacey - Your random posts always crack me up.
I want to scrapbook, but I’m not especially creative. I might have to figure it out some day – those all look so pretty and inspired!
I want to see “Valentine’s Day”, too. Date night next month!
julie - jason totally passed out on shot number two. out cold. for like 3 minutes. then he woke up and was certain the HE WAS GOING TO DIE. drama. so much drama. I had to drive him home and it took two weeks to get the courage to go back for the last shots. he wasn’t scared about going to uganda. he was scared about the stupid shots. that is reason #1 that men don’t have babies.
Casey - I wish the Valentine movie came out before February 12! I’m ready now.
Yes, motherhood is glamorous.
I love that you love generics. I cook with them often and besides a few things, I think they’re just as good.
Sam - Sorry, I have to admit to laughing out loud about Waffle…those cinnamon rolls must have smelled so good, whats a dog to do, haha!
kelli - you’re so funny… i love reading your procrastination blog while i am procrastinating on my to-do list!
Kate - Meg, thank you so much for adding that question about buttons! I have been googling for weeks and can’t find how to do it in typepad…. I still feel like a newbie in blogland.
Mmmm… you have a wonderful day! Thank you for always making me smile with your posts!
Staci - Oh man!!! That movie looks great! Lots of great people too!!! You could just drive down to OK or I could just drive up to KS and see it on Valentine’s Day…while our men watch some hoops 🙂 I’m sorry Annie had an accident on you…and that Waffle ate those wonderful cinnamon rolls….I’m also sorry that I don’t know how to help make a button for ads….COMPUTER STUPID I AM 🙁 I can’t even download pics from our new camera to the computer…..see, now do you feel better 🙂 Have a Happy Tuesday!!!!!
Sheryl - Meg,
I am so excited that you have decided to go on a mission trip. It.will.change.your.life. and probably the lives of those around you. My husband and I are currently working in the Philippines. We are so blessed to see God’s amazing hand at work. Check out our blog (its new and not nearly as cool as yours but you inspire me!).
offerthemchrist.blogspot.com
Sheryl
Kyleigh - Is it animated gifs your advertisers are after? If you let me know the dimensions and they get in touch with me I could create some for those that need it (it’s my job after all as a digital designer)… I could donate my time for free if they give extra to the cause? What do you reckon?
(then I could send you the animated buttons for you to add the URLs to on upload, yeah?)
Just a thought!
Traci - ok, i want to see that movie too, but my husband is like your husband. i’ll drive down and we’ll see it together. wouldn’t that be fun. i’ll bring kasey with me. someday!! good luck getting that laundry done. i have piles ready to go. thing is, karlie does her own laundry and there is a load in the washer from yesterday. drives me nuts. oh well.
Angela - Laundry is the never ending thorn in my side. I always wonder while I’m doing laundry how everyone else in my house has more dirty clothes than me. I think the worst are the ones that have to be put on hangers.
I so relate to the poop on your dress though mine usually involves snot or boogers on my shoulder all the while I’m unaware until my husband points it out.
tara pollard pakosta - I really wish you would scrapbook so I could see your layouts! I have been feeling sentimental lately and wanting more children, so I had to scan in all my daughters oldie pix (she is 10 now). I need to go back and scrapbook so many old ones toO!
have a great day!
tara
Jennifer - I would love to see that movie too! And there’s NO WAY I’ll be getting my hubby to go with me either!
