my boys usually don't hang around where i am…which is where my camera is…which is why annie
is usually in so many pictures…she's right beside me all the time.
but i got sean this week.
caught on film…or cf card? whatever.
his best friend let him borrow his RipStik.
i had no idea what it was until he brought it home.
it's a skateboard…with only two wheels.
It's all about balance.
it took him about 2 (very frustrated) hours to really get it…
and he hasn't quit since.
could you do this?
i know that i couldn't.
none of my other kids can do it.
i think he looooooves that part.
it's something only he can do.
then…he even let me take some pictures of just him.
the only other person with green eyes in our family besides me. :)
he does this with his arm all the time…glad i caught it.
oh man…you have got to love the braces.
sean is growing so fast.
his shoes are 9.5. a size and half bigger than me!
he is VERY into reading now…a different chapter book everyday.
i know that he turns on his lamp & reads after we say to go to bed but how do you get mad about that?
he also loves club penguin.com.
i love that boy.
i may not always understand him…but i try my best.
i am his biggest cheerleader.
i want him to succeed so badly.
i love that boy.
did i mention that already?

Rachel / cREaTe - that brought tears to my eyes. 🙂 so awesome at that age to have a moment like that with your son & totally see and celebrate his uniqueness & individuality. and boyness. 🙂 those one on one moments are precious & priceless – you know they ADORE them, too.
Kelly - he is adorable! makes me hope this baby is a boy . . . then I’ll switch back to hoping it’s a girl when i see something equally wonderful girly . . . who knows!
Pam said he likes chocolate and cherry in his sonic dp. you tell him i like chocolate and cherry in my sonic coke. 🙂

Cute pics!
Tanya - I’ve tried this so many times. I can get it going down hill but the uphill is a battle. Kids make it look SOO easy!

Brooke Whitis - So cute! I love his big braces smile! I wish I had more pictures of myself in that stage. He is adorable.
I saw a girl using one of these down the street yesterday and it looked like she was surfing. Very impressive. And scary! I fall off any four wheeled skateboard I get on!!
PS…I bought the yellow ruffled payless shoes yesterday…and thought of you 🙂 I literally did a little dance, because I think I found the only ones in the store. I meant to go 10 months ago, when you posted. But, alas….putting things off allowed me to hit the BOGO sale. 🙂
Becky - I just love how you captured your boy there. Those pictures are amazing.
Becky
Cassie B’s friend!
kathy eller - Didn’t realize how much we have in common. You summed up so much of me with my sons. 🙂
Heather @ Cookie Mondays - He is so cute, and his personality cracks me up. And looks just LIKE you!! I know what you mean about always catching the littlest one in photos. The big kids aren’t really into hanging out with me like Camden is!
Mindy Harris - he’s so beautiful! what a sweetheart.
Sandy - 1. His orthodontist should use the picture of him smiling so big for an ad…wonderful picture.
2. You didn’t mention (for those that don’t know) how the ripstick bends opposite directions in the center…not sure if that makes it easier or harder but it seems harder to me.
3. I’ve never had the guts to try a ripstick…too scary. Congrats to Sean for mastering it!!
Thanks for letting us see what he’s up to. 🙂
Amber Mershawn - He has one of those faces you just want to squish:). My baby boy has one that I hope stays forever. Sigh.
He is so cute…sad that they get big so fast…
Jennifer - We have a ripstik and the kids love it. My husband even goes out and does it. Me I tried and got about 10 feet. Anyway they are a lot of fun!
tam - whoa. Great Job Sean. 🙂 Seriously impressive. I know the feeling about wanting to do something your siblings can’t. I love the photos. I feel like I stalk my boys, they too, run when they see the camera….
Shann - Good for him that he mastered that thing! It looks very very difficult for me. Face plant, for me, I am sure. 🙂 I love the last photo of him. I love braces on teeth! Very cute! I thought of you the other day at Target. Did you see the little pokka dot plates out for summer? Looks just like you! I was praying for you on your mission trip each time I saw dots. I prayed for you a lot. 🙂
Amanda - Love this post! He looks a lot like a MegCraig 🙂
Really love the braces too.
melissa @ the inspired room - Amazing photos Meg! So hard to get those boys to sit down for photos and look so natural!! What a handsome young man. I tell that to my son all the time and he rolls his eyes. 🙂 Can you believe how much we love those boys?

Oh, our little boys….love em’, but like the rip stick, can’t figure them out!!!
Leah - a couple summers ago we went camping and one of the kids brought a ripstick. They are kind of addicting!

Sharla - He has a great smile!
LuAnn Smith - Great photos mom! My 11 year old loves his RipStik. I would never attempt to get on that crazy thing…

Jacob LOVES to read and reads at night to Oh well what to do:)
jeanne - I have tried those and I can’t stay on at all!! He is such a cutie…those eyes. You are in trouble mama:-)
Christy - My daughter has a RipStick. She’s 15 now and still uses it all the time. I’m not even going to try. I like my tailbone too much. 🙂
I used to read after my parents told me to go to bed, too. With a flashlight. Under the covers. Go Readers!!
Heather - Lucky mama! We celebrated our youngest 4th birthday this weekend and our big boy is growing so fast (nearly 7). Time seems to be accelerating. Nice job capturing your boy in some truly sweet pictures:)
se7en - Oh he is cute!!! My guys also read long after lights out – like I wouldn’t know (but I am not about to interfere with reading!!!)… and they adore club penguin – home from home!!! Must be universal boy things!!!
Becky @ Farmgirl Paints - He’s really cute! I do love that pic of him with his palm to his mouth…seems so natural.
My daughter does the same thing…she reads after we tell her to go to bed. But I actually did get mad at her about that:o Bad mom!
We have a few more things in common. I have green eyes and wear a size 8 shoe too.
jack - Beautiful portraits! You’ve probably answered this a million times, but I’m a new reader, so: what camera, lensesetc do you use?
Tricia - He is so handsome. I love the laughs at the end!! I really enjoyed this post. I actually came here today specifically because I know that your posts are always lifting me up. Thank you for that.
XO*Tricia
P.S. The RipStick. Scary!!
(for me. i’m a total scaredy cat!;)
Tara - gorgeous.
My boys got ripsticks for Christmas…and we took them back the next day…they just weren’t ready to put all the practice that it would take into them!
I have more pictures of our little girl for the exact same reason….she’s with me all the time..at my feet…and my boys….they aren’t. They AVOID the camera at all costs.
