traci -we dont do myspace, wont do myspace and I agree with your first writer.
We also dont want SNL…I dont think their humor is funny at all. It keeps getting more vile imo.
Lindy-Meg – I had to come back to this post to see what comments had been left. I’m surprised that you haven’t had more.
Maybe I am getting too flippin’ conservative here but in my opinion SNL is getting a little too “open” this season – especially after watching tonights episode of SNL News. Keep the crotch shot out of it.
I consider myself liberal and open minded but where as a society are we going when we allow this on public TV (I can see it on cable)…. whos to say tweens aren’t watching this at a slumber party. Trust me – they get this stuff!!!! I totally got Gilda, Jane, and Balushi’s skits on sex, pot, and halucinogenics at the age of 8 and you can’t tell me that children of the same age today don’t get the inuendos of today.
What one generation tolerates – the next endorses.
How scary is that?????
Andria -Meg,
This segment made me laugh. But, as a prosecutor I know this is not much of an exaggeration. Pedophiles are constantly trolling the internet trying to find young kids to prey on. I went to a conference where FBI set up a fake profile of young girl she went to chat room. Within seconds, she had people trying to initiate contact which was inappropriate. It scared me to death. Also, kids reveal so much info about themselves it is easy for pedophiles to track them down. At the very least, myspace should be set to private for safety reasons.
Sandra-I don’t know much about it, but the commercial I’ve seen on TV about the young girl who suddenly has all kinds of boys and MEN calling her by name and commenting on her postings, I find chilling.
southernseven-our kids cannot be on my space. My son had a Faith Freaks page (My space for Christian kids) and he put photos of himself with his band. Girls were all over him. And he loved it of coarse. My husband made him discontinue that because we didn’t feel that putting yourself out there where unknown people looked at your photo and were commenting on how hot you are is the best thought process for a 15 year old (or anyone) My husband (a systems administrator) checks out all their places. I have no clue how.
I took some photos of the kids yesterday. Not anywhere near as good as your but I was really happy. I took 97 photos so only put a couple on my blog. I have some really cute ones where I was trying to get a photo of all three and I just kept snapping and they were giggling and it is an almost real time of them laughing and you can just feel like you were right there. My oldest daughter saw the photos and said that I was making everyone think we were a bunch of hicks because the boys wore their cowboy hats.
That Girl-my 13 year old thinks I’m horrid because I won’t let her have a myspace… I am fine with that!
Trish-Yes, no Myspace please!!
be vigilant, very vigilant mom.
Lindy-Ditto …… scares me to death. Too bad we can’t micro chip our kids with a GPS and a “good choices” device. This subject scares me more than drugs ….. I don’t even know where to start on this one…..Best thing to do is start talking about these things to them as soon as possible.
kayla - I agree very scary. The fact that my daughter says she wants a computer with email but with out the internet at 5 years old is very scary.
Deb - Wow. SNL is really getting gritty this season, addressing what’s right before our eyes. Ouch!
princess lasertron - people my age dont even like myspace. the pedos have completely overrun the place.
facebook though…I’m still all over that.
Meaghan - whoa! there’s always truth in sarcasm…
